The Dream that is Dying (Exalted)

Anyone else feel like these early choices are for virtue intimacy determination?

I'm fairly sure that the family is already dead (with maybe a possibility of saving one family member so they could forget us afterwards, demonstrating this little tidbit of Sidereal lore), but...

How cheerful. :(

The forgetting usually takes time tho, so there might still be one touching family moment.

[X] Return to the City. Your family is in danger. Your place is at their side. Reclaim the horse that was to be a gift, and ride swiftly back to Zamash before the conspirator's plot can be completed.

[X] Pursue the Vakotans. They have raised weapon against you, and now they will bleed for it. Perhaps they might tell you more of the snakes who would see your family harmed.

I'm going to break with the bandwagon here.

All the bloodshed back at home is going to be over one way or the other by the time Farah gets back. The outcome is not within Farah's ability to control.

These particular conspirators and attempted murderers, however, are still available, and might be Farah's best chance at unraveling the whole conspiracy and rooting it out in the future. They're ALSO the only people who saw Farah start glowing red and cut a dude in half, which means that if they don't get to spread any nasty rumors, Farah's new amazing power remains a hidden trump card, that her enemies will never see coming.

If they started when we left, it's already over one way or the other.

What just happened? I'm new to exalted so I'm confused as to what we just did.
We had just Exalted as a member of the Sidereal Exalted. Most Exalt types gain their Exaltation at dramatic moments (Solars when attempting to perform or succeeding in performing an impossible task, Abyssals are approached with the offer when on the verge of death, Infernals get a full demonic bargain, etc). Sidereals, however, are destined to Exalt, and to take their place as Agents of Heaven (in the Chinese sense: There exists a Celestial Bureaucracy, and we just got recruited into it. Oh, and part of the job is that everyone who ever knew us who doesn't work for the Bureau of Destiny or is a supernatural entity outside Fate just forgot we ever existed. That's a thing with Sidereals). We are a Chosen of Battles, based on our aura and the vote in the first turn. As such, once we get to our new office and duties, we'll be creating and maintaining destinies related to conflicts.

The choice is to either get info and let our family die, or save our family just to still lose them in every way that matters anyway. Since we have no way of knowing of our Arcane Fate, I choose drama.

As fun as it would be to run our would-be assassins down, there's probably a coup on. Let's invite ourselves to the proceedings, shall we?

Why?
Because prioritizing is going to become very important and quickly-being a hot-head who runs off when provoked sounds like an excellent way to end up a janitor or henchman gaurd.
I'd rather be Kotone then Makoto.

Rampage? Rampage yes!

I'd like to hew to this flaw because it seems fun as heck.

Is it bad that I want us to go on a bloody rampage and have our family die because of it?

Better to kill/interrogate the conspirators at hand than to run off looking for more enemies someplace else.

So @Maugan Ra I'm only partially familiar with Exalted. How does character progression along the path of an Exalted work?

E: or are we going to be seeing some of that in the relatively near future?

I am looking at this in the sense of better to know what the hell is going on and get some information then run in blind.

I'll be introducing that sort of thing reasonably soon. For now, sufficed to say that it costs xp to buy new skills, attributes and charms (supernatural tricks). You get an automatic budget of xp in a particular area when you elect to spend some IC time training that skill or exploring that area of your abilities.

Sidereals have charms that, for the purposes of this quest, are not tied to their mundane skills. Instead they embody aspects of the Constellations that govern fate and destiny, which gives them a weird grab-bag of interesting powers. Slow Blade Penetrates, for example, is a charm drawn from the constellation of the Spear, which is associated with control, discipline and the pursuit of conflict as a profession.
