The Dragon Roars: A KMT Quest

We could always walk in, help with the Japanese, and then refuse to leave. The new states would be hotbeds of dissent for a bit, but I think we could handle it.

[] Accept their proposal.

Not entirely serious, just giving some ideas. Thoughts?

One basic request could be to allow KMT agitators to organize and give speeches without harassment by military/police forces. It would make integrating them down the road later and would make our party members happier about allying with warlords.

We also need to push for overall strategic command, and not just to get them used to following our orders, mind you. I don't want to have fight a brutal land war against the Qing and Japanese with a bunch of contentious warlords who might not even set foot out of their provinces.

If they don't help they're out of the Front.

Whatever we do, if the Yuan decides to join this, we need more guarantees. These guys are either going to be useful fodder or deadweight in comparison to the Zhili Clique. Was considering them anyways for our first targets.

So freedom for agitators and something resembling a unified command even if it's not under the NRA. Another part of me wants to do some sort-of economic fuckery that would have them reliant on us but am not sure as to how to do that. Related to that, do trade agreements and stuff to make them more amenable to us.

+1 on putting an economic clause in a counter-offer. We might not need to violently depose them if we can get them economically reliant on us, show them the some of the benefits they have from joining our vision for China.

Not sure what we can do economy wise. We're still primarily agrarian with some German industrial aid. I doubt we have the industrial output to offer them much, certainly not more than the Qing and their backers. Our status as an independent republic with decent popular support plus our military is what makes a valuable ally, not our economy.

The Republic does have somewhat of a more industrialized economy now, but it is heavily concentrated in the Beijing-Tianjin area for obvious reasons. Lanzhou has some promise as a developing industrial area, but for now it's mostly home to a small amount of light industries.

Well this is an interesting development. Has me wondering if the guy was poisoned or something but regardless this could prove to be an interesting opportunity. Ideally we integrate the Beijing-Tianjin area but at minimum I hope we get someone more reliable in charge. Would mean we would have a frontline with the Japanese and Manchurians though.

Just a basic additional clause to make this defensive pact, actually defensive. If anyone else has anything to add or reword please do.

Edit: Changed vote

Acceptable enough, would probably get a better response if it involves making a unified command structure with some kind-of buy-in but having some kind of command structure is a bigger priority to me.

Edit:

-[X] Write In: Demand that the KMT be allowed to operate freely within their territory and that their forces subordinate themselves to NRA command in the event of foreign invasion. Additionally also offer trade agreements and infrastructure investments, in particular focusing on getting a connection between Beijing and Lanzhou.

Yeah that could be an alternate demand, was more concerned with just writing a reasonable demand out that the warlords could actually stomach. Having the NRA as the decision maker would mean the warlords have another stick poking at them to commit to the United Front. Wasn't really writing with full on integration in mind, just something they would readily accept.

Could easily add something like this.
-[] Write In: Demand a portion of each United Front members fighting strength to a common defense army, to be headquartered in Beijing Clique Province under direct NRA command.

Maybe a bit much but something like that could be added. They get access to KMT weapons and supply, we get extra men to put on the front that needs it the most.

At first I ws confused to why Ottawa was the capital of the empire but this revealed to me that Britain is a revolutionary republic which is ver cool. I also find it interesting that despite losing the home isles the empire is still intact.

Right, we have a couple of possible demands here so may as well compile them all into the same offer.
