The Dragon Ascendant: NO SV: Welcome To Another Viserys Targaryen Quest (A Ck2 Quest)

Not really, Daeron I The Young Dragon was one of the worst Targaryen monarchs whose "Conquest of Dorne" cost the realm more than 150000 lives and he was killed in his sleep with scorpions.
One could argue that while his campaign was fantastic and how he brought Dorne to its knees, it was the way he squandered his victory, and pretty much failed to build a peace by putting the Tyrells in charge that really killed him.

i don't care what you may say, he led a campaign that is among the best in A World of Ice and Fire, when he should have lost.

He was good, but he is no Stannis the Mannis.

Speaking of which, I am working on the updated sheets and it's doing fantastic.
Then you have Daeron II The Good, who was undoubtedly the greatest Targaryen Monarch alongside Jaehaerys I, who did not only manage to clean the mess that his father Aegon IV the Unworthy left him, but also brought Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms using diplomacy and marriages.
I would Argue that Daeron was the best Targ Monarch.

I know the Chancellor is good, and I put respect on his name, but he had the benefit of dragons, and Maegor's defanging of the Faith that really helped the Targs solidify their rule.

Yes, Maegor the Cruel did some good things during his reign. His liberal usage of dragonfire, and the destruction of the Faith Powerblock within the Kingdom, made both his later successors lives easier because they still sister fucked... and because the Faith having no military arm made it far easier to control.

Daeron II, had no dragons, and was against The Blackfyres (who had arguably the best military commander of their age in Daemon). All he had was bloodraven... which you can argue is Hax. but I don't give a shit.

He won his legacy without dragons or magic.
So technically since Daeron is the name of one of the worst Targaryens Monarchs, alongside one of the best ones, the name is truly neutral... But as I said there is some exquisite irony in calling Viserys and Arianne firstborn as the fucker who tried to conquer Dorne and failed miserably, and the great dude who managed to bring Dorne into the Seven Kingdoms without bloodshed, which it is the main reason why I´m voting for it.
I think Viserys knows the history of the name, but like him, with the Viserys Monarchs being both amazing and shit respectively... Good things come in Three.

V 1 had the benefit of peace and Dragons... with the Rouge Prince taking all the bad shit that should fall upon V 1.

V2... was the Superior model, Greatest Politician and Hand of the King that Westeros has ever had. The On;y thing wrong with him was ruling for two years and... not murdering Aegon the 4th in his crib or stamping out his influences.

And we know our Viserys is... either priming for a golden age, or saving the world before burning out at 30.

One could argue that while his campaign was fantastic and how he brought Dorne to its knees, it was the way he squandered his victory, and pretty much failed to build a peace by putting the Tyrells in charge that really killed him.

I disagree, winning a campaign doesn´t mean shit if the "Conquered" people bleed you so badly in Guerrilla Warfare that you have to leave the "Conquered" land with the tail between your legs in less than 3 years, and the Conquered people manage to kill their second Targaryen monarch.

That would be like saying the Russian invasion of Afghanistan was a great victory

I agree that defanging the Faith of the Seven was one of the best things ever done by the Targaryen, and just for that I consider Maegor as the least bad of the worst Targaryen monarchs.
I think Viserys knows the history of the name, but like him, with the Viserys Monarchs being both amazing and shit respectively... Good things come in Three.
Why? Both Viserys the First and second were really good monarchs, the only bad thing that ca be said about them is that their succesors screwed things badly, but that is not their fault

Oh and one more thing: I may have made Stannis a little overpowered.

After reviewing his career in this canon... and then comparing it to ASOIAF Canon. I realized that his career was similar... with one or two more hangups, and a lot more stunning victories, and him flexing on numerous fronts and being so competent, he deserves so much more.

Also... Logistics. He fucking loves that shit.

All of this is supported, by not only this timeline, but canon as well.

This is on Stannis' Sheet:

Legendary Commander: This man can revolutionize warfare, in a way few people can if you are given the chance to do it. +10 to Martial. (Not added onto the vote.)

Lord of The Admirals: Many consider you one of the greatest Fleet commanders in all the world. They are right. After all, even after being captured by the Iron Born, they treated him like an equal. And when he invaded Westeros with Viserys, all he earned with the Undying Loyalty of his men. All of them +5 to Martial. Double his diplomacy when leading ships, and add it to Martial (Not added onto the vote.)

Logistical Wizard: From Storms End, to Volantis, to Dragonstone, you learned to make do with the things you had, and in doing so... conquered. You only wish other people understood what you knew. +2 to Stewardship. +20 to all Logistical rolls within Armies under your command.

Once again, brilliant campaign... a failure in peace.

He should not have even won his "Conquest"

but did manage to conquer Dorne.

He just could not hold it.
I agree that defanging the Faith of the Seven was one of the best things ever done by the Targaryen, and just for that I consider Maegor as the least bad of the worst Targaryen monarchs.
But he did do some very shitty things. Lets not kid ourselves.

but for the continued survival of a unified Westeros?

He did everything he needed to do.
Why? Both Viserys the First and second were really good monarchs, the only bad thing that ca be said about them is that their succesors screwed things badly, but that is not their fault
Because Viserys the first failed in the end to secure his succession and caused the Dance of Dragons, and the Death of all the Dragons.

That is why I do not rank him higher then V the second...

You know, the Best king who didn't rule.
NIGHT LAMP!! NIGHT LAMP!! NIGHT LAMP!
Hey, Night lamp is to glorious to be simply said in vain.

Wow, who wants to conquer some of free Cities and possibly force Yi Ti to open their ports for us and give the Crown a port under our control?
Viserys can't be burned. at least by normal fire

I thought I made that clear in the last quest.
I know, but I'm just saying that magical fire can hurt V.
I was thinking less of that kind of Burning and more that the Stress and pressure of governing over the burning brothel which is Westeros could take a real toll on him...

I can imagine him at forty (when Daeron is old enough to live) abdicating in his son and then retiring with Arianne to Sunspear, where he will take an example from dear old Doran and live in the Water Gardens seeing the children play with each other.

Stannis is not in the mood for war and conquest.

If anything, he's really up for starting up some hobbies and something that can cement his legacy.

Like a military academy or two. Maybe Navel Academy to bring some damn good captians.

And spend some time with his family, and probably get some more kids.
Feast your eyes on the Military Skill of Stannis at his Peak desperation and Brilliance!

Beshka, the Basilisk, Big Sis (By Dany), Crazy Woman (By Queen Arianne)
Love and Duty, and Booze

Description
A young woman 'gifted' to Viserys Targaryen during his days as Valarr Vaeltigar, Beshka was enslaved and trained as a gladiator. Foisted onto Viserys as an intended insult (her face bears prominent scars, and she was an unruly captive) he instead freed her and asked her to use her skills to protect his baby sister. Since then, Beshka has developed a close bond with Dany, viewing her as much a little sister as Viserys does, and a good rapport with the others of Viserys' inner circle. She's uncertain of how she'll fit into their lives now that they're 'real deal' royals, but her loyalty to the Targaryens has been hard won and is as unbreakable as Valyrian steel.

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken

Description
A fierce and fearsome combatant, Prince Oberyn somehow always manages to feel even more dangerous off the tourney yard or the battlefield. Described by his own brother as "deadly, dangerous, and unpredictable", he has spent most of the last two decades consumed by seeking vengeance for his beloved sister Elia, and seething hatred for Westerland men. This, however, has waned recently, as he's somehow managed to make friends with Tywin Lannister's sons, and with their friendship and his renewed spark at learning of Aegon's survival, Oberyn senses the end of his quest is coming, and he needs to start figuring out what's next.
