The Contest of Power (Wiki-Warrior style story) (Fallout)

Chapter 98--Prepping for an alien invasion (Karina).
In case you don't want to read about Karina--
Karina and Cindy rush back home in the morning to tell everyone about the aliens, but surprisingly the rest of the women care more about what Karina and Cindy found on the ground instead of in the sky. But later on, they do go out stargazing to check out what Cindy and Karina have been talking about.
They all agree that they do need weapons and powerups to combat an alien invasion just in case, and Karina pulls a few duds save for the Ninja skill and the gamer-like inventory space, which is given to everyone currently with Karina!

===================================

Cindy and Karina wasted no time racing back "home" on foot the next morning, as it had been too dark at night to safely travel despite the fact that they wanted to tell everyone right away about what they had seen in the skies.

But now in the early light of the day, the two of them were now wondering if the others would believe them, even with Coupe and Barkk as their witnesses.

In the light of a new day and after they got some sleep, they could hardly believe it themselves.

The men still guarding the outside of the vault greeted the women as they walked back to vault 129's entrance.

Iona was the first one at the opening giant gear door once the alarms went off, and hammered the two of them with questions of what was out there before Karina and Cindy even had a chance to say anything.

Finally, Karina was able to get some words in, which shut up Iona. "Whoa, there! We found out something big… we found the aliens that Coupe was talking about, the ones who drained the Earth of resources!"

Iona was stunned speechless by this, and she blinked owlishly.

Lauren had come by when Iona had been peppering them with what seemed to be endless questions, and so she overheard Karina.

Lauren stopped and went over. "You sure about that?"

Cindy nodded. "Yes. they seemed to be fighting some other alien group or something. There's a war going up there now!"

Iona brightened up at this. "Oh, we need a telescope and other things to see that, then! Luckily we already have one down here. Let me get it!"

With that, she ran off before Karina could say anything.

Karina had been about to offer to summon one, but if they had one already…. Then she didn't need to, she suppose.

Lauren then looked at the over-stuffed bags that both Karina and Cindy were carrying, and asked, "The aliens aside… you found plenty of good stuff, I take it?"

Karina nodded. And fished out the map that she and Cindy had marked showing where they found the resources they were now carrying. "Yep. even marked them down on the map here so so that you can go and collect them. But we also brought pure samples back to be grown hydroponics bay just in case they got irradiated living on the surface up there."

Lauren smiled appreciatively as she took the map to open it up and look at the markings on the map. "That's great… and a very good idea."

Her eyes then widened when she saw the small notes written next to the Xs on the map. "New sources of iron and other metals? A gem mine?"

Karina nodded, grinning. "I know! This terraforming summons not only brought new life, but it replenished our sources of metals and other rare minerals! This is huge."

Lauren laughed. "Yeah, that's putting it lightly!"

Cindy sighed. "That's if those stupid aliens don't steal those from us again."

Lauren and Karina's smiles faded at that.

Karina then shook her head. "I can't wait to see Freya's reaction when she learns that the prewar conspiracy group she made fun of a while ago turned out to be right."

Cindy couldn't help it, she snorted loudly at that. "Yeah, that's pretty damn surreal. I wonder what else those lunatics were right about? Were they even lunatics to start with if they were right all along?"

Lauren scoffed. "You know what they say, a broken clock is right twice a day but that doesn't mean it's not broken. I refuse to believe they were right about every single thing. I mean, they also believed in black helicopters and the Illuminati, for Pete's sake."

Cindy looked confused. "Okay, the Illuminati I get but what's this about black helicopters?"

Lauren gestured at the two of them to follow her as she said, "We can explain it to you on the way to meet the other women here."

The three of them then walked down the hallway as both Lauren and Karina started explaining what the Black Helicopter conspiracy was.

"Okay, so there was this conspiracy theory that the UN was plotting to take over the United States and that they were going to do this with black-colored helicopters somehow…"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Strangely enough, the other women were more excited about what Karina and Cindy found on their expedition outside of the vault than they were about the Aliens.
Which made sense, Karina supposed, because at least with things like the Gem cave you could make plans around… but an alien war going on up in the sky, you could do nothing about if you didn't have the means to go up there or didn't have superpowers that could help you deal with them.
So what would one really say to the presence of aliens other than to say, "Huh, they really do exist?"
Freya had been pretty annoyed, however, that the conspiracy group she had made fun of turned out to be right much to everyone's amusement.
Iona was already outside, putting together the telescope as it had been taken apart and then stored away by the prewar scientists that used to frequent this vault.
But the rest of the women were already planning their futures around the metal deposits and gem cave. The only problem was…
"We don't have an expert on hand to help us find the right locations in which to start up our mines, do we?" Jocelyn pointed out.
The others deflated at this, until Mr. Handy pointed out, "We do have a Mineralogist sleeping here according to the databanks if that helps. She most likely won't be able to help a lot with the metals, but she'd know a few things about gems. You could wake her up and assign her to the gem cave. We also have another woman who worked as a miner. Maybe she'd know a few things about prospecting for metals."
Isabella nodded. "We should really be waking up more people anyways, it doesn't feel right letting them all sleep for so long when the world out there improved so much."
Not even Lauren could find fault with that logic, seeing that waking two more women probably wouldn't do too much harm to their existing resources now that they were working on generating more food.
And with that, Patrica Butler and Sofia Perez were both awakened.
Patrica Butler apparently had been suffering from an ailment commonly called Miner's lung, or its' more official name pneumoconiosis. Even though mining technology advanced in leaps and bounds over the years, it didn't mean that Miners were no longer at risk of hazards, such as accidentally breathing in airborne respirable dust when mining underground and the like. And unfortunately, pneumoconiosis was the nasty type that could cause impairment, lung cancer, and premature death.
It wasn't too difficult to guess what had brought her to Vault 129 considering her background as a deathly ill patient. But she was now fully healed, and adjusting to being a 9 ft amazon.
Sofia Perez's reason for being here was harder to parse from the files, as they all had on her files that she had a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences but had a narrower focus on Mineralogy which she also majored in. and that she apparently volunteered to be here with no reason for why she wanted to be here.
Oddly enough, the two of them seemed to be strangely okay with the fact that they were now 9 ft amazons and that they had spent more than a decade sleeping.
Though Karina suspected that they might be in shock, and left the rest of the women to it as she left to check up on Iona.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Karina was surprised to find that the time had flown by without her noticing because she realized it was now late noon. Huh.

She found Iona on a nearby high hill, where Iona was in the process of finishing up putting the telescope together.

Iona was now adjusting it and looking through it as Karina walked up.

"Hey. need help with anything?" Karina wondered, while still marveling at the fact that time flew by so fast. It'd be dark before they knew it!

"Not really, but thanks for asking," Iona said as she concentrated on making sure the telescope worked as intended.

All of a sudden Karina got that itchy feeling, and then mentally cursed. That was right, she hadn't summoned anything today and her power really, really wanted to be used.

Sighing softly, she pulled on her power.

Kriskin Roll 5
The Kriskin is a common, predatory New World ground cuckoo from the deserts of South America in the Posthomic period, 50 million AD, in After Man: A Zoology of the Future. The Kriskin, a common predatory bird in desert areas feeding principally on snakes, is, like many other predators of the region, mainly black in color but with a white underbelly that has black spots on it.

Effect: For five hours, this semi-large bird species will appear and wander about in the local area.

A mainly black bird the size of a large seagull popped into existence nearby within their eyesight, but Karina found out there were way more, as more started flying overhead.

There were the sounds of gunfire nearby, and one of the men yelled, "Got it! Time to cook the bird!"

Karina snorted and simply shook her head.

Iona seemed to have noticed this happening but opted to flat-out ignore it in favor of the telescope, as she grinned. "And…. done! Once it gets dark out we should be able to see what's happening up there."

Karina looked at her pip-boy's clock and noted that it was 4 pm now. Huh. Had they really spent that many hours going over the map and talking about it or what they found? Karina had occasionally shown off what she foraged at those places, as well.

And then they had spent a while talking about how they were going to use the resources they found…and how to build a mining site.

Yeah, that could take hours without them noticing if they were really fixated on the subject.

Now they just needed to wait a few hours to see if the aliens were still going at it.

Iona frowned. "Now what? I don't really want to spend hours doing nothing but wait."

Karina spoke up, remembering the thing she had. "Oh yeah! I summoned this thing called the Dog Miraculous, and it came with a supernatural creature just like the procure items came with Coupe. Want to meet it?"

Iona predictably perked up. "Oh? Do show me!!"

With that Karina pulled out the necklace thing and handed it over. "Barkk come on out. Meet my friend Iona."

The dog-shaped kwami timidly came out, unsure if this was a good idea. It was too used to staying a secret, after all.

Iona squealed. "Oh, it's so cute! And its' coloring reminds me of the dog my family used to have!"

Barkk couldn't help but smile at this. It then asked, "My name's Barkk, and I am the Kwami of Adoration! What's yours?"

"I'm Iona, resident scientist, and engineer! Can you tell me more about yourself? What's your favorite food, and What's a Kwami?" Iona fired back eagerly in the same style of questioning.

"Okay, I guess. It's beef stew, and Kwamis are divine, spirit-like beings who embody abstract concepts." Barkk answered, looking uncertain but still looking forward to making a new friend.

They went back and fro like that for a few more minutes, causing Karina to leave and check on the other women to see if they had made any new plans in colonizing the surface world and how the awakened women were holding up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was finally dark out, and with that, most of the women were now outside with Karina and Iona taking turns looking through the telescope. However, they all could definitely see the explosions happening in Earth's orbit now without the telescope itself.
The explosions looked tiny from down here, but they knew that they probably looked gigantic up close.
They mainly used the telescope to try to see the extra details, such as what the alien ships looked like.
Freya scoffed loudly once it was her turn to look through the telescope. "Of course, they're all flying saucers like the ones in TV shows and movies. Because why not!"
"It does bring up the disturbing possibility that everyone but the regular citizens of Earth knew about them all along, huh?" Jocelyn commented, and everyone silently thought about that for a few moments there.
Maria was the one to bring up what most of them were thinking: "So what can we do about this, really? How do we stop them from stealing our lands' resources again?"
Cindy then spoke up, "Yeah, and how do we tell apart a good alien and a bad alien? I mean, there's clearly warring factions up there otherwise they wouldn't be blowing up each other."
Coupe puffed up at this as he said, "Clearly, you all need to become magical girls! Karina, why don't you summon more Precure stuff or more of the Miraclouses from Barkk's world?"
Barkk smiled and nodded. "I think everyone else would be more than happy to help ward off an alien invasion, in return for getting away from Monarch!"
Lauren slowly nodded at that. "Might as well as do that. Now that we know about this threat, we do need all the firepower we need."
Karina mulled this over and nodded. "Alright then. Let's all link arms and form a circle so that I can summon something that affects all of us."
Asiri chucked as she and the others followed the directions, and said, "Why do I feel so nervous?"
Isabella then commented, "Probably because Karina's power is literally gambling? We don't even know what we're going to get."
Asiri nodded. "Hmm, yeah."
Karina pulled on her power once she was linked up with the others and--
A Russian company that used to produce all kinds of guns, from submachine guns to auto rifles.
Effect: Everyone in the group gets a permanent weapon produced by this company, though the make and model are completely random for each one. Some women will get a submachine gun, and others will get an auto rifle.
Coupe frowned. "Hmm, not what I wanted at all."
Lauren on the other hand was far more appreciative. "This is pretty good though, we also needed weapons too."
Karina smiled sheepishly and said, "I did think about arming everyone with weapons, just not magic power. Hold on let me try again."
Ninja_Gaiden Roll 16
An NES video game about a Ninja. In all, there are a total of six challenging side-scrolling levels that the game's protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa, will have to venture through. The character has a simple life bar which is at all times displayed at the top right of the screen along with the enemies' bar as well (if Ryu is battling one). Among other things seen up here are the level, score, and timer. At the end of every act, the player will be required to battle a boss, with six in all.
Effect: Everyone gets the skills of the video game protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa. Their sneak skills are now maxed out that they can sneak around undetected and now knows how to use katanas to very quickly behead people or slice people in half.
Everyone stood there in silence, trying to figure out if anything happened that time.
Finally, Jocelyn said, "I think that one was a dud. I don't feel any different."
Karina nodded in agreement at that and pulled again while asking her power to summon something that was a little more obvious and in your face next time.
Revue_Starlight Roll 14
A story about an idol group who desires to be eternal stars forever. Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight (少女☆歌劇 レヴュースタァライト Shōjo Kageki Revyū Sutāraito) is a multimedia project created in 2017 by Bushiroad and Nelke Planning. Beginning with a series of musicals, Revue Starlight includes a 12-episode animated series, an omnibus film and sequel movie for the anime, a smartphone game, and multiple manga.
Effect: Everyone gets the uniforms of the pop idol group sized to their current sizes, and all of them are given a new singing ability, increasing their talent. Their charisma also goes up a few points.
Lauren snorted, as she inspected the seemingly military-like uniform that had appeared neatly folded at their feet alongside the guns.
"Clearly just some dress formal uniform, rather than the one used for actual wartime. It's too impractical otherwise," She said.
Maria was more pleased. "It's nice to have something else in my size, I was getting tired of wearing my vault suit all the time. And it looks so cute!"
Karina on the other hand was getting frustrated. "Damnit, my power's not giving me anything I want. Last one, and then I'm calling it quits for tonight."
>ring<
https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Inventory Roll 20
The place where all of your stuff is stored.
Effect: Everyone now has access to a Gamer-like interface that allows them to store everything they have in their inventory space, which they can access just by thinking about it or saying the word inventory out loud. One also can access it using a pip-boy if they currently have one on hand, and is installed into their pip-boy as a new application where they can use the pip-boy to sort the items by category, such as weapons, apparel, junk, and so on forth. Be mindful of the carry weight limit, which only can be increased using your strength stats! This differs from woman to woman, depending on how strong they are.
Everyone jumped as a semi-transparent green UI-like window popped open in front of them, with the text over the window reading "Inventory". There was also a ? mark inside a circle on the rightmost corner of the window.
"What the hell? // Huh? // Uhhh…" several women blurted out at once at the same time.
Karina just looked mildly annoyed as she said, "Okay, I have no idea what this thing is."
Iona then said, "There's a question mark here. I'm gonna touch it."
Another UI window popped up this time for Iona, which held a ton of text that seemed to explain the inventory function for her. She read it out loud for the benefit of everyone, and Karina became less annoyed the more Iona explained all of the functions.
Finally, Karina said, "Okay, that's not so bad I suppose. Having your personal interdimensional storage space that you always have with you at all times is pretty cool, I admit."
Every one started murmuring in agreement over that.
Lauren smiled wickedly. "Not to mention it would allow us to transport weapons and bombs that are normally too big for us to lug around, even in our Amazon forms. This can be useful against both the Aliens and warring human factions."
Freya frowned at how warlike and bloodthirsty Lauren was right now. "I was thinking along the lines of having it carry materials back to our vault to help us build new rooms."
Lauren nodded. "Well, yes. That too."
"It definitely has so many uses! Let's try it out!" Iona said excitedly, and with that, she turned around to see if she could put her telescope into her personal inventory space. She succeeded, with the telescope disappearing from sight.
Everyone else bent down to pick up the guns and uniforms they were given.
Both Coupe and Barkk watched all of this continue, and Barkk then said, "So that's how Karina's power works. How interesting!"
Coupe scoffed. "I would've liked for there to be more magical girls though. The two of us are powerful, but the more magical girls there are, the more we can ensure our success against the invaders."
Barkk smiled. "Never underestimate the power of two people working together. Two people can get a lot done together!"
Coupe nodded. "You're right, I suppose."
==================================================
A/N: out of all the stuff that Karina's gotten, I think the inventory ability might be the most broken one. XD. I'm pretty happy she and some of the other women got it, actually.
What a wonderful chapter, thank you for this and the many others you have made! I hope that you are having a good day and many good ones after that!
Some interesting rolls, some amusement from the conspiracy theorists being proven to be right, and the thought the Zetans will have a hell of a time interfering with the war for their survival.
I honestly could imagine Regan summoning something like Space Godzilla and watch as the Zetan's day gets worse, or maybe Godzilla who would be less than pleased at all the pollution.
Now I find myself wondering what would happen if Regan summoned Kane from Command and Conquer?
What if Katrina summoned Canterlot and Celestia and Luna along with others took it back? How would the power system react to that? Would the changes persist even if Canterlot was restored to its rightful dimension?
What if the item stolen is from a world where the beings aren't so forgiving as the Prophets or Q? It would be kind of interesting to see the side effects on the main characters if something happened to their "ROB"... And the system was still going without them...
Maybe the stuff wouldn't appear, but maybe a glowing framework of it? Kind of like in some of those builder games where you have to insert resources so that it can finish completing? Be kind of funny if they threw trash into it and it was broken down into matter to fuel the creation, though big things would need a lot of crap... That or it might absorb the radiation from the rain in order to power the building phase...
That...would be kind of awkward to explain, I made a copy of the Master Sword by putting on a radiation suit and dipping the blueprint into the glowing sea...
As long as Regan doesn't roll Shin Godzilla or Godzilla Earth. Though Godzilla Earth could be turned into a good guy if Karina rolls a means of communicating with it.
Any Monsterverse Kaiju would be a great boon to this world though.
thanks for the chapter and for writing. why hasn't Karina been using her stargate tech tinker ability it's going to waste
thanks for the chapter and for writing. why hasn't Karina been using her stargate tech tinker ability it's going to waste
mainly for a few reasons.
1) there's no good place to build a stargate where she could use that as teleportation points to cut down on travel
2) lack of resources to do so
3) places like the vault already have it's own power source that doesn't really need upgrading
4)Karina is more interested in capturing regan than she is in tinkering
I do agree, that it's going to waste. I just need to think of more situations where she might want to use it more. *sighs*
she can build alot more than just a stargate
still doesn't count out reasons 2 to 4. She could build a spaceship to deal with the aliens... but what resources do they have that wouldn't take too much from the vault itself?
same deal with transporters of all types. again, I just have to think of a situation where Karina would be pushed into doing it and having the resources to do it.
If I remember only one Stargate to a planet is its main limitation, or was it a system? Anyways, the point is that multiple Stargates can't overlap. They default to a Stargate, so for example you have three Stargates active, but only one will ever get the signal to open. Unless of course that Stargate is taken far away or destroyed, then one of the other two would default into being the main gate.
Basically it would be:
Asking the Enterprise D to take you from Texas to Ohio using the Warp Drive.
Trying to use the Sol Mass Relay to take you to Earth from said Relay.
Asking Doctor Who to drop you off at the next town over in the same time period and frame, like he is a taxi service, and asking to skip any adventures.
Or even thinking Waldo would not get lost.
----------------------
None of these things make sense.
Largely because Stargate tech is pretty much if you want to get somewhere a couple galaxies away, then we got you. Anywhere closer...get a cab.
I believe he's referring to all the other stuff in the tv show that Karina can build. Technology
Karina can build spaceships. And there are other transporters besides the famous stargates in the tv show.
The only problem here is resources as usual.
well, just read the chapter and is a nice one! @Aurora Moon i like it!, also new vote in my quest, and i need you opinion as Beta tester for a few things if you can help me!
the inventory is the most broken ability until now, i just hope you summon even more broken things!, having an miniature arsenal with you will help against the cybermen anad the Zetans!
also, how life has been going friend?
I really like how you incorporate the rolls in the story. I can totally see how the guns and the dress uniforms would be misses while aiming for magical girl powers.
Chapter 99-- This giant corspe is really cramping our style. and it smells too. (Regan)
Regan gets hungry and decides to eat all of the giant's head except the skull itself, which he wants as a trophy for their adventures. He then goes on a summoning spree, trying to summon something that would help him eat the rest of the giant's body without being a danger to Regan himself. He summons a gun, Billy Butcher's dog Terror, and a lizard. But at this point, he realizes the giant's body's shat itself, and wants to get away from the smell, so he summons an old battered FBI car that looks like it's been through a violent car chase.
He and Kevin leave, but not before attaching the giant's skull to an open bed trailer bed that the car pulls behind it.
As they travel the countryside, Kevin realizes that Regan's lost now, so Regan tries to summon a map… but only summons a supernatural map that shows locations of where supernatural things are at. Regan is curious enough to check out one of those locations on the map.
================================
Regan took a break to go eat parts of the giant while Kevin rested some more. Kevin was still feeling drained from overusing his catapult spell too much.
Without Kevin around to look over his shoulder, Regan felt safe enough to unleash his tendrils upon the dead giant now that he knew nobody was looking.
He had been feeling rather hungry after all, and would've summoned some animal again but why do that when he already had a dead giant here?
Besides, he wasn't sure how long this corpse would be here and he didn't want it to attract dangerous predators here once it started to smell.
His arm tendrils twisted into the giant's cracked skull and set to work devouring all of the giant's brains, and then the flesh all over the giant's head.
With that, he was able to sever the giant's head from its body and clean it all up so that it was nothing but a skull now.
Regan would have that as his memento from his time here, and to show proof that he had been part of the group who slain a giant. Kevin would love it too because hadn't he said he wanted to be able to bring back proof to his homeworld that he had continued to be a hero?
Regan was already feeling full from doing only that, though, and he turned back to the headless body, wondering how to deal with the rest of this now that he was already full from eating most of the head. Turns out that he really couldn't eat too much above his weight size, huh?
Hmm. he might have to summon some scavager animals to deal with this after all? Hopefully, they wouldn't be too dangerous for him to be around.
But first, he should probably have a weapon on hand first. He was too lazy to go back to Kevin where he had put all of their bags, just to get a weapon. He'd just summon one right now.
https://guns.fandom.com/wiki/.577_Nitro_Express Roll 14
The .577 Nitro Express is a large caliber hunting rifle cartridge originating in the United Kingdom.
Effect: This gets permanently added to Regan's inventory.
Hmm, perfect. It was even loaded, he checked just now.
Now to summon an animal that could help eat the giant but wouldn't be too dangerous to him.
https://the-boys.fandom.com/wiki/Terror/Comics Roll 2
Billy Butcher's dog, Terror, as seen in the comics.
Effect: for two hours, this dog will wander around in this world.
Regan blinked as an English bulldog appeared in the world, and then groaned loudly.
Oh come on, there was no way this animal would be able to help him get rid of the giant's body.
The bulldog was now looking at him curiously, his head cocked curiously. He then padded over to the giant's body, sniffing at it curiously. It then moved over to the growing puddle of blood under the giant's body and started lapping at it, seemingly not even caring that it was blood that he was drinking.
Regan stared back at it, and then just let out a small laugh. He hadn't heard of any dogs before that would be willing to drink blood. Heh. Maybe it was the type that ate giant meat too? Still, one dog still wasn't enough.
He then summoned again, asking his power to send it some other small scavenger that came in groups but wouldn't be a danger to regular-sized humans like himself.
https://speculativeevolution.fandom.com/wiki/Cryptile Roll 17
When the lizard is hunting, it scampers along and raises itself onto its hind legs. Then it opens up the frill around its neck. Superficially, it resembles the frilled lizard, an agamid that lived mainly in northern Australia and southern New Guinea during the Quaternary period. But unlike the frilled lizard, which had an unbroken large ruff of skin, the cryptile's frill forms a net that is covered in a film of sticky mucus secreted by pores on the individual strands. This is used to trap flies which it eats.
Effect: Not quite the scavenger Regan asked for, but it's definitely harmless to humans as its preferred source of food is flies and not much else. As it was a roll 17, groups of this species now appear in Montana.
Regan could only sigh when a bunch of frill-necked lizards the size of regular iguanas appeared nearby.
What was with his power? It had complied with his wishes perfectly earlier and then decided to give him the opposite of what he wanted.
… whatever. Maybe his power was telling him that Regan totally shouldn't make this his spot to summon things, because it was still too close to Great Falls and people could still come back and catch him in the act.
He pulled on his power again, asking it if it wanted him to travel some more.
https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/FBI_Car Roll 13
A nondescript black car that fbi in the GTA series like to use.
Effect: because we rolled a thirteen, we get an FBI car that is slightly battered with a lot of scratches on it like it's been in a really violent car chase. It's a perfectly working vehicle otherwise.
….. Well, that was a sign, alright. And Old Theo did give him that quest to go to that outpost to scout around or whatever. And staying away for a little bit would give him some plausible excuse that he had been busy finding old intact cars and fixing them.
Also, the giant body was already starting to smell. In fact, it smelled like the body had shit its' pants….
Wait, Regan had heard something about that… how some people messed their pants after they died, thanks to some automatic process.
…… ugh, gross. Well, that was enough reason to not want to stick around because he had no idea how long it'd be here before it disappeared. Regan had already looted the body of the now-cleaned skull as his trophy, he really didn't need anything else here.
He'd come back to this place to use it as a private place for summoning once the body was
gone, for sure.
But first… he needed to find something like a trailer bed he could hitch onto the FBI car because there was no way this car could actually carry a giant skull on top of the car roof. Unfortunately, the skull was just too big, especially if Regan still kept the jawbones attached to the skull.
Regan had initially thought of that, but looking at this car there was just no way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kevin finally woke up from his hour-long nap with a serious crick in his neck and back. He did a series of exercises, making his neck and back pop before grabbing the bags that had been left by him while he slept.

He walked out of the makeshift shelter just in time to see Regan strap down what looked like a giant skull to an open car hauler, which was connected to a battered-looking black car.

The skull itself was so large it looked as if the open car hauler could barely hold its weight and the ropes holding it down were doing all the hard work.
"Uh, what are you doing?" Kevin wondered.

Regan smiled at seeing Kevin up already, and answered, "I'm securing our trophy, what else? You said that you wanted some proof of your heroics… and what's more heroic than killing a giant man who's been devouring poor puny humans? Thus the giant's skull. Look, it even has the big crack on the side where you killed it!"

Kevin snorted loudly at that. As trophies went, that wasn't so bad but it was definitely a little too big to carry around. It was then he smelled something truly rank.

"Ugh, what the fuck is that smell? It smells like…. Shit."

Regan nodded and made a face as he replied, "The giant shit itself after it died. Considering that we don't know how long it's going to be around until it disappears, I got us a car so we could drive around the countryside for a while… maybe check out that outpost that old Theo wanted us to go to. This way we don't have to stay here and smell his corpse stinking up the place."

That was the most sensible thing he had heard from Regan so far the last few past days, so Kevin didn't even say anything other than to open up the side doors of the car, tossing the bags into the back seat before closing the back door and getting into the passenger seat.

He was still a little tired, but a quiet cruise around the countryside sounded like the thing he needed while he slowly gathered his strength back. As long as Regan didn't summon anything too weird again, that is.

Regan double-checked to make sure the ropes holding the skull were secure, and with that they drove off, taking care to slowly drive around the giant corpse at the entrance-way.

After half an hour of aimless driving later, Kevin finally asked after getting tired of watching the scenic countryside go by, "So where's this outpost we were supposed to go to?"

Regan looked sheepish. After a moment of silence, he finally admitted, "I don't know. Joeb was the one with the map and I forgot to ask for that before he left."

Kevin stared at him and asked, "So we're lost?"

"Pfft! No, of course not!" Regan denied it immediately.

At Kevin's unimpressed look, Regan then said, "Look, how is he going to know if we visited this outpost or not? If anything we can go anywhere with this car and give him a more detailed accounting of what's out there."

Kevin shook his head. "Whatever. I don't even care anymore."

Regan pondered this as he thought it over. Kevin was right, they needed to know where they were going. And Regan had ditched his pip-boy a while ago, so he had no GPS map to guide the way.

He pulled on his power, asking it for a map of the local area if possible.

https://evil.fandom.com/wiki/Infi-Map Roll 18
The infinite map is seen in the TV show Danny Phantom. It resembles a scroll map but you can move the map around and zoom in and out as if you were using a tablet. It shows only the ghost zone, or the addresses of places where ghosts are currently haunting, as well as portals to other supernatural places like hell mouths, etc. The old ones even show up on the map occasionally! The map activates itself when the user says or thinks where it is they want to go to, but sometimes the map takes the user not where they want to go, but rather where they need to go.

Effect: Regan gets a verison of the infi-map, but one that shows all of Northern Commonwealth's most haunted and supernatural spots, whether it be by actual ghosts or by something more, like the old ones and the like. Beware, because chances are that this map will guide you into dangerous places more than it will guide you somewhere safely. Incidentally, many of Regan and Karina's summons will also show up on the map as some of the summons had a strong connection to the afterlife or loosely connected to one of the old ones.

Kevin looked around warily at the bonging sound but relaxed when all that appeared was a scroll thing.

Regan then said, "Go ahead, open it up. You said you wanted a map, right?"

Kevin hadn't said that at all, actually, but he picked up the scroll and opened it up anyways.

"Hmm. Huh. This thing acts like a tablet but it feels like paper. Weird." Kevin finally commented after playing with it some.

"What's a tablet? I doubt what you're thinking of is the same one I'm thinking of." Regan asked, referring to the fact that the two of them came from very different worlds with different technologies.

"Alright, imagine a computer if you will. But one that has a screen that's touch-sensitive and will actually respond in the areas where you touched it. Now flatten it into a handheld square… and tada, you get a tablet. Instead of using a mouse or a keyboard, you can use your fingers… and using hand gestures to zoom in and out of documents, images, and interactive maps." Kevin explained.

Regan's eyes widened at that. "Oh man, that does sound useful as hell. So this map…. You can..?"

Kevin held out the open scroll map towards him and showed how to zoom in and out on the map so that they all could see the four states of the North Commonwealth, or zoom in to where they were exactly.

Regan slowed down the car to a stop as he focused more on the map. "That's so cool!"

He then frowned as he read some of the names on the map. "But I don't recognize a lot of those names. The only one I recognize on the map closest to us is NeoBowser City. But what's this place that's like an hour and a half away from us? Garnet Ghost Town? Why aren't any of the normal towns and cities not showing up? Great Falls or Helena isn't even showing up on this map!"

Kevin could only smirk as he replied wryly, "Hey, you were the one who summoned this stupid map to start with."

Regan paused at this. He then wondered out loud, "Hmm.. is this a locator for all summons? But wait, most of those weren't summoned by me, and I doubt Karina was out there summoning so many places like this."

Kevin said nothing because he wasn't even sure of what was going on here anyhow.

Regan made a snap decision. "Let's go check out this ghost town. It's only an hour and a half away by car. Maybe we'll learn something more about this map when we do."

============================================================

A/N: decided to cut things off here, because it seemed like a good stopping point. Fun fact, Garnet Ghost Town is a real place in Montana and is said to be one of the most haunted spots in the state on the list, though it's not close to number one. The number one most haunted spot in Montana is Bonanza Inn, Virginia City as a shitload of murders and the like happened there.

The more you know! 🌟

thanks for the chapter and for writing. well i know to stay the hell out of Virginia city and garnet ghost town fuck that shit

Hey, nice chapter...even if I don't read Regan chapters...

I find it funny he got nothing from the roles but a cursed map to lead him to more trouble, and of course he got to smell what a Giant was cooking...

Contest Chapter 100! (Karina chapter)
A/N: the 100th chapter! I wonder if I should do something special. Like a short webcomic featuring some of the story's most memorable scenes, and some of the lamest ones?

I'm also tempted to give both Karina and Regan a book on their summons for the 100th chapter, but I dunno.

Feel free to suggest something.

They test out the inventory space before calling it for the night. The next day, Karina meets Nahele, a Lakotan woman who is obsessed with vehicles. Gremlin 2.0 but with cars/etc instead of guns. She startles Karina into summoning a mega-garage holding 165 cars, complete with the tools to alter and customize them. Exactly the tools needed to make battle cars too at that.
After a very short nap, she gets asked to summon a few food items for the men outside, which she does. A honey pudding and a jar of mayo made from duck eggs.
She's then shocked that the other women aren't as excited about the garage as she is, which triggers her power again into giving her a weak powerset verison of this public-domain superhero named Voltron.
She is then resigned to the fact that she and terry will have to work alone on repairing their red battle car.
============================================================

The women who had come with Karina to the hill to stargaze and alien watch had gotten a little too excited over the inventory space ability though Karina thought it was kind of understandable.

They all immediately started thinking of all the ways they could use it, and thus came the questions. Was it limited in size? Could they only store certain types of items? Could they access the items from anywhere?

As a result, they had literally crammed everything they could find into their inventory to try to figure out the limits. The informational window explained that how much they could carry depended on their strength, but considering that most of them were now giant superstrong Amazon women that knowledge was kind of vague.

So they all thought the best way to test it out was to cram everything AND the kitchen sink into the inventory space. As a result…. Many of the rooms they had been in before now looked ridiculously bare looked like bare vault rooms that nobody had moved into yet.

And they just kept on stuffing everything into their inventory spaces, until they finally found their limit of things they could carry.

Cindy was first to hit her limit and turns out that she had a weight limit of 400 lb. For even though she was now petitely sized again, traces of the FEV strain she had been injected still remained within her in a purified form, giving her unusual strength for a woman her size. And as such, her inventory space reflected this.

Karina's limit was 600 lbs. The rest varied from 800 lbs to 1,400 lbs, which explained how they were able to empty out a whole room in record time without even feeling overburdened.
Overall, Karina did think this could be a real timesaver as it did take her a while to shrink things down and scale them back up again, just so that she could be able to carry an absurd amount of things in her backpack. But with this, did she even need her backpack anymore?

Well, she supposed she did need some things that could be quickly accessed right away until she was able to practice pulling things out of her inventory in record time very quickly.

But here came the hard part-- it was getting pretty late, so everyone had to put everything back into their proper places, even their beds which they had inventoried, so that they could all sleep.

Heh, Karina had never seen anybody so sheepish when it was pointed out that they all had gone overboard on inventorying everything because now they couldn't even tell which rooms had used to be their bedrooms unless they went by memory.

Still… this new inventory ability did come with so many uses for it. Hell, it was a good way of safeguarding your items from things like robberies while traveling for one thing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning before it was even light outside, Karina got up earlier than expected thanks to the magic bed which made her yell out "I'm so refreshed!" every time she woke up.
But this time it was mostly on purpose, as she wanted to monitor whether the aliens were still at it or not and you could only see the lasers and explosions at night.
She stepped out of the vault, noting that Mr.Handy in charge of maintaining the vault had finally made it so that the vault alarms wouldn't sound if it was authorized personnel coming in and out. Seems that the others had finally complained about that, as the other women did come in and out of the vault regularly to do their own thing at times.
So now she wouldn't feel too guilty about accidentally waking up anybody else, then. Thank god because that alarm sound really did get on her nerves lately with how often she went in and out of the vault.
Once she was outside she got a slight surprise as she noticed that there was now a woman amongst the men who were dressed in the same orange-brown uniform they were. And had the number of men increased? She saw a few new faces she didn't recognize.
Terry was up early too, and he waved her over seemingly wanting her to meet the woman soon as he noticed that she had left the vault.
Karina walked over, and Terry asked, "Do you remember when I told you that some people would be coming to help with our vehicles?"
Karina shook her head because she honestly didn't remember Terry telling her anything like that.
Terry blinked. "I could've sworn I told you. Anyways, this is Nahele Mani, one of our mechanics. She has a hobby of studying prewar machines and getting them to work again. She was very eager to come here once she found out what you could do."
Karina studied the woman before her, and she looked to be your typical modern-day Lakota woman, with black hair and eyes.
Very light brown skin that contrasted nicely with her modern-day orangish-brown military uniform, which came with a cap that kept the sun out of her eyes. And around her waist was a toolbelt holding various tools.
Nahele practically moved so fast that she was now in front of Karina in a blink of an eye, as she looked Karina over. "So you're the one that the spirits supposedly blessed with the power to pull things from other worlds?"
Karina blinked. "Uh, I don't know about the spirits thing, but basically yes."
Nahele grinned. "Yeah, I'm not really a strong believer of that myself, preferring the more rational explanations out there. But, I respect what my people and ancestors believed in, you know? Though with what I've been seeing lately I'm starting to wonder if I should put more trust and faith into my ancestors' beliefs after all."
Nahele then clapped her hands together as she changed the subject, "But more importantly I saw the vehicles you summoned. They're such beautiful beasts!"
She turned to gaze out at the parked Humvees that Karina had brought back from that mountain town in that other world and sighed dreamily. "I never thought I would get to see such pristine prewar vehicles. Just look at that beautiful gleaming sliver coat of paint on it. It's so shiny!"
Karina was having sudden flashbacks to when she met Gremlin, and how that Follower seemed to have a strong obsession with guns despite her faction's strong anti-war stance.
But that couldn't be that, right? No way she was facing Gremlin 2.0, heh.
Karina was startled when Nahele suddenly grabbed both of her hands and said, "Can you summon more vehicles? Ones that I can take apart!"
https://sega.fandom.com/wiki/Sega_GT_2002 Roll 20
Sega GT 2002 is a sequel to Sega GT for the Dreamcast and was released in 2002 for the Xbox. The game features many brands not featured in the first game, such as Chevrolet and Mercedes, and features all the companies from its predecessor. The game included new features such as Sega GT 2002 mode where you can manage a private garage. The game controls as you would expect it to for a racing sim. The game also took away the VMU minigame, in which you can earn money and play races on the go. This was because the Xbox did not function with the Dreamcast VMU, even though the Xbox controller did have expansion ports. The game also adds classic cars, whereas the Dreamcast original only had current ones at the time. There are also certain cars that can only be obtained from the used car lot or winning races. Sega GT had one last game in 2003 by the name of Sega GT Online for the Xbox. Since this was the last game in the series, Microsoft made a new racing sim called Forza Horizon to replace it.
Effect: off to the side by the parking lot, a massive, futuristic garage building pops up. As this is a roll 20, Karina can make it disappear if she wishes. But also because it's a roll 20 the building is also ridiculously armored as hell, making it a verifiable fortress. Which makes Karina even less likely to want to un-summon it.
"Ermm…" Karina mentally groaned as she couldn't help but think that yes, Nahele was really Gremlin 2.0 but with cars instead of guns. Though she had enjoyed Gremlin's company, so that wasn't too bad? Provided that Nahele didn't get too overly annoying about her obsession with cars.
It was then that Terry brought attention to the massive garage building by asking, "Hey, that building over there… is that permanent?"
Karina and Nahele looked over in the direction where Terry was pointing, and Karina replied, "That looks like a garage building. A very ridiculously large and tall one. and yeah, that summon felt pretty strong, so I think it's here to stay for good."
Nahele's eyes widened. "A garage? Wasn't that a prewar building where they held cars and fixed them up? Like a hospital for cars?"
At Karina's nod, she literally squeed at that and then ran off to see if she could gain entry to the massive garage building.
Karina could only scoff loudly, and she said very loudly for Terry to hear, "Why is it that I strained myself so hard to summon a garage for you when we wanted one before but nothing appears, and yet when she shows up and asks me for one all of a sudden my power complies with her wish??"
Terry chuckled. "I think your power's gambling-based, ya know? Everything's supposed to be randomized, I think so I think it becomes difficult when you're trying to go for a very specific thing because then it stops being random that way?"
"... yeah I know, but still… would it hurt for it to be more cooperative?" Karina said, still acting mock-annoyed that she had tried so hard for what seemed like forever to get a useful building like this only for it to pop up when she wasn't even thinking about it or asking for it anymore.
Still, it was here now and that was what really counted. And most importantly a garage meant that they could finally fix up Terry's red car!
"Hell yeah! Let's go check it out!" Terry agreed, surprising Karina slightly as she hadn't realized she said that last thought out loud.
Shrugging slightly, she followed Terry. Kahele had discovered that the garage building was unlocked, so they were all able to go inside.
As they entered the massive garage, they were greeted by a cavernous and well-lit expanse that stretched far into the distance.
The atmosphere is a perfect blend of futuristic and industrial, with sleek metallic walls and spotlights illuminating the area. The space is thoughtfully organized with different sections for various car categories, creating a sense of order amidst the very impressive collection.
There were 165 cars in total, to be exact. Very impressive, indeed.
And In the corner of the building, there was a section dedicated to car customization and tuning…. Which of course meant tools galore, much to Terry and Kahele's delight. By the looks of things, this area allowed people to fine-tune their cars to perfection, adjusting various performance parameters, selecting different paint colors, and applying personalized decals.
And yes, there was a shitload of paint here stacked up upon shelves meaning they could literally paint any car any colors they wanted.
Terry whistled loudly as he took all of this in. "Baby, I think we all just hit the jackpot here. All of that gambling paid off after all."
Karina grinned wildly. "Exactly right. And most of the women we have so far know how to build a battle car. With those cars and those tools, we should be able to build things like controlled turrets and everything else on all those other cars while we fix up your car, Terry."
"Awesome." Terry breathed loudly at that, as he was now envisioning a whole line of armored battle cars that could easily take down any monster, even the one in Neo Bowser City. one that would make his people the most powerful army around ever.
Kahele frowned, before yawning. "I would love to get to work right away, but now I'm getting bushed. I travelled a long way and I'm still freakin' tired as hell. And I imagine your people aren't keen on getting up at this hour too, eh?"
That reminded Karina of why she had stepped out of the vault in the first place. "Oh! I almost forgot. I wanted to go out and look at the night sky to see if the aliens were still at it!"
Terry nodded. "Yeah, they're still at it. Makes for a pretty light show, but got boring to look at after a while. They've been at it for a very long while, they must really hate each other…. Whoever the hell they are. I think more ships keep on coming in from elsewhere too?"
"Ah." That answered her question at least, though she did wonder what triggered the aliens' little spat in the first place. And why they choose to have it in Earth's orbit like that. Was it a dispute over who got to conquer Earth or something?
But now that was answered, she supposed she could go browse the selection of cars until she was ready for another nap on that magic bed that gave her a night's full sleep in mere hours. This way she'd be well-rested when the others finally got up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When it was finally properly morning, with the sun coming up over the horizon, Karina came out again. And this time she was approached by one of the other military men, as it appeared that Terry and some others who had stood guard earlier on were now sleeping.

"Hey, can you summon more food for us? We're running low again." The man asked. Karina nodded and was about to pull when he interrupted with a mildly sheepish look on his face, "Uh, could you do something besides animals this time? Our diet's become very meat-heavy and I'm getting tired of it."

Karina smiled. "Sure, no problem. Let's see what my power gives us, then?"

With that, she focused on something edible, something that wasn't meat.

A food item that restores +55 energy and will apply the steady hand buff for a duration of 2 minutes, reducing the risk of surgical errors during body part extraction. All food items were given an initial energy value equal to their base cost which makes honey pudding an exceptionally good food for energy. Since all the items which can be used to craft honey pudding lack quality levels it can not be improved by using higher quality ingredients.

Effect: Because we rolled a 19, the honey pudding dish is exceptionally large and of good quality, meaning it'll be a very appetizing dish. Can only serve up to 7 people, so it's first come first served.

"Oof!" Karina found herself holding a large dish, one that held something that looked like a gelatinous dessert. She thought it was jello at first due to how it jiggled but on a second look it looked to be a pudding dessert coated in what looked like honey sauce.

The man in uniform squinted at it suspiciously. "What is it? I've never seen anything like it before."

"Seems to be a pudding dessert… it was a prewar thing, and were typically served after the main course. It looks like it has a pretty sweet flavor." Karina answered.

"Ah. well, it doesn't seem to be enough for everyone in camp. I hate to ask for more of it but…" The man looked embarrassed now, having to ask the woman with magic powers for more food.

Karina handed over the dish, and pulled again.

https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Duck_Mayonnaise roll 17
Mayonnaise made from duck eggs.

Effect: due to roll 17, it's a large jar of mayonnaise in fairly good condition and freshness. It's perfectly normal otherwise.

Karina looked at the jar she was now holding and then opened up the jar lid to sniff at it.

"Hmm, smells like mayo." She said before poking a fingertip in and then tasting it. "Yeah, that's definitely mayo."

She then looked at the guy, this time her turn to look vaguely embarrassed. "This isn't something you really can eat straight from the jar, it's mostly a condiment you use to make things like salad, sandwiches, or for a dip."

The guy just smiled wanly. "That's alright, I'll take that. Maybe with that, I can make something new for everyone."

With that, he took the Mayo and the pudding with him and left towards the campfire in the middle of the parking lot.

Karina stared after him, wondering what he could possibly do with that because last time she looked all they had was stew cooking and possibly some bread.

She then mentally shrugged, moving on with the rest of her day.

https://pdsh.fandom.com/wiki/Volton_(Holyoke) Roll 13
Volton possesses what is called "the electrical power of elongation."
He is super strong, can fly, and can emit lightning bolts and electrify his hands.

Effect: due to the number we got, Karina gets a weaker verison of this guy's power set. Still, it's pretty good though, because combined with all the other things that empower her it makes for a nice little boost.
For example, the strength adds to her Oni strength and also helps increase her new inventory space weight limit. and the flying skills boost her flying ability with her magic wings. She now no longer needs the wings to fly, but when coupled with the wings she now becomes much faster and more graceful in the air. Electric abilities are something new. However, due to the weak number, it's more like a Taser in terms of damage.

Karina was so shocked that it went through her body like a bolt out of nowhere when discovering that the others weren't as excited as her about the garage.

If anything, the suggestion to go out there and work on the cars right away was met with a lukewarm response.

"Hmm? Sure, I can do that I guess. But I got to take care of all my cattle first, gonna make sure they're all fed and escort them while I let them out to graze. I can't keep them caged up forever, you see. That makes for real unhappy cows and unhappy cows make poor meat and milk." Jocelyn replied, sounding very nonchalant about the whole thing.

Lauren then said, "I was planning on going with our new arrivals to check out that gem cave and Freya also volunteered to come with."

Freya nodded at this, looking apologetic as she did so. "That's true. I didn't know you were going to summon a garage this morning."

Iona then said, "I was going to study the purifying process and how that affected the body, by helping Cindy purify Leona and her daughter Vera back to their normal size. By doing that we could create our own scientific solution that would restore our bodies back to normal. Building battle cars does sound fun though. Maybe tomorrow."

Karina humphed at this. "But… I thought? I thought that with more hands on deck, we could fix Terry's car faster and also build maybe one more so that we'd be able to go back to looking for Regan and taking him down?"

Lauren smirked. "As much as I'd love to have that bastard answer for what he did to my husband, I don't think our lives revolve around that. We do have our lives to live, and I think my husband had he been here with me, would agree that building up a stable society for the rest of the sleeping women before they wake up is important."

Well… Karina couldn't exactly dispute that, Lauren was definitely correct that they needed to build a decent village with everything they could ever need, just to support the women that they would eventually wake up.

"Yeah, I guess." Karina reluctantly agreed. "So I guess it'll be just me and Terry working on his car, then."

Lauren nodded. "I suppose so."

==========================================================

A/N: sometimes the RNG system feels like one of those annoying video games quests. You know, where you're told you need to collect something but it's difficult to find all over. But once you do finally have it? It's friggin' everywhere. Like in the older GTA games where you were told to steal a car but you can't find it anywhere. But once you finally steal and own one… those damn cars are everywhere!

Likewise, when Karina finally stopped trying for a garage as she was now focused on other important matters, she finally gets the garage of her dreams. But now nobody is free to help her build battle cars because they now have other things going on. Jeez.

i am looking forward to reactions to the aliens, but it won't really move the story - so, the big lightshow in orbit would be foreshadowing, if this was a normal story, right?

I do have plans to deal with the aliens eventually. I'm trying to write around the rolls so that they fit the story in a way that makes sense, though.

It doesn't come up much, but Karina's shaping up to be a nightmare to fight. The fact that she can fly around in impunity makes all of her other stuff exponentially more useful.

Contest Chapter 101--Zoinks, a spooky Regan pov.
The fallout universe's always had a few creepy and spooky spots. Like the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3. Or that one quarry called Dunwich Borers in Fallout 4. You all know the one I'm talking about. XD

So I've been planning to do something similar for the Northern Commonwealth for a while, where I would do both North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana's creepiest spots ever and give them some of that fallout flavor. So I'm happy I get to do this, even if this is a Regan chapter. Imagine the look on his face when he realizes that there are supernatural things out there that he or Karina didn't summon at all, and that they were always here. heh.

Summary of Regan's chapter here--
Regan and Kevin are disappointed at first by this place, as it looks like a tourist trap that collapsed a long time ago. But the map shows that the ancient mine is the source of some supernatural energy, hence why it shows up on the map. Both Regan and Kevin agree that they won't go in there because that thing looks like it could collapse at any time.
Instead, they set up camp. Kevin gets hungry, so Regan tries to summon food only to have a very silly SCP come into the scene for two hours. This SCP is a plate of sentient pasta that routinely performs and acts out Italian spaghetti westerns. Kevin is unimpressed, as he wanted to eat something that wouldn't talk. So Regan ends up summoning dinosaurs from Jurrasic Park III. many which will breed and populate all over Montana. But before the dinosaur part happens, Silent Hill reached out to Regan and tried to make a connection again, but failed. Right.
As night comes, the supernatural side of Garnet Ghost Town comes to life, showing why it's literally a GHOST TOWN.
Regan is so spooked that he subconsciously summons Rankor, a Scooby Doo villain who is, in fact, an actual vampire goblin and not just a human in a monster costume. One who seems lured by the siren call of the dark entity in the mines, who once lured all the miners and their families to their deaths….

=====================================================

Regan hadn't known what to expect when he arrived at the location that the map led them to, but this hadn't been it.

It was pretty clear that this place used to be a tourist spot at one point judging by the still-standing metal plaques stuck to stone stabs outside but the words on them were so faded you could hardly read anything on them.

Beyond that there was nothing but a lot of collapsed buildings and what looked like an abandoned ancient mine in the distance.

It was a letdown, really.

Even Kevin looked thoroughly unimpressed as he said, "I can see why this is a ghost town. This is probably the most boring place imaginable, there's nothing to do here."

Regan chuckled. "This was probably one of those fake ghost towns back in the heyday where they would lure gullible tourists in and talk crap about how the citizens mysteriously vanished one day. Oooooh!"

When he said the last part, Regan let out an exaggerated spooky noise that matched his comical "scary" face, which made Kevin laugh.

Kevin then said, "It's weird though, why would we get a magical map that leads us to fake ghost towns? What's here that the magical map thinks is of interest if it didn't highlight all the normal towns and cities on the map? No way it's not some random tourist map for occult lovers, right?"

….. That was a good point.

"Yeah, good point. Hand the map over, let's see if it has something new to show us, now that we're here." Regan said, and Kevin handed it over.

Using a few finger gestures, He was able to zoom all the way into the town, so now that it looked like a map of the local area instead of the world map, while Kevin stood close behind him watching Regan play around with the map's zoom features.

On the map, the area where the abandoned mine was, was glowing an orangish-red color indicating that there was something important there.

Kevin promptly said, "No fucking way we're going in there. That old mine looks as if it'll collapse any minute."

He seemed surprised when Regan agreed. "Of course not. What do you take me for, a stupid tourist? Pfft, the stories I could tell you about my parents' resort…every year there's always a number of tourists who got injured because they didn't follow the basic safety rules my parents laid out."

Regan paused before adding, "We'll just find some fool to explore it for us first so we know it's safe."

Kevin snorted. Now that sounded more like the Regan he knew.

Regan then looked up at the blue sky, which was starting to darken as the sun was getting low to the horizon. "Anyways it looks like it's time for us to set up camp anyways. Looks like the sun's about to set."

Kevin nodded.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later on, they now had a reasonably sized firepit going by their car and had large planks of wood salvaged from the collapsed houses to act as logs that they could sit down on by the fire. They had no intention of sleeping outside in the open, as they could just sleep by the car after they were done relaxing by the fire.
It was cloudy over where they were now, and the sun was now almost gone as there was now nothing but a glowing orange line on the horizon, while the clouds were all pink and orange-colored.
Coupled with the fact that all of Montana was now green and lush again, it made for a very picturesque setting.
Kevin then replied casually, "We have a fire going now, but no meat to put over it."
With that, he glanced over at Regan meaningfully.
Regan chuckled. He was still somewhat sated from eating a part of that giant as his body was still working on integrating that into himself. But if Kevin wanted food…
"Alright, food coming right up!"
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-6507 roll 2
One of the sillier SCPs out there. This is literally a plate of living pasta, and the living pasta likes to act out scenes from cheesy Italian spaghetti westerns out there. One of the rare harmless Scps.
Effect: for two hours, this ceramic plate full of talking pasta will exist in this world before returning to their world.
Kevin grinned when he found himself holding a large ceramic plate full of pasta. "Cool, I was getting tired of meat. Thanks!"
But before he could reach in to grab some pasta, a strong Italian voice rang out from the plate.
"Hey, idiota, that's my woman!"
Kevin jerked and dropped the plate of pasta as he jumped away.
The plate didn't break as it hit the dirty ground, and the pasta kept on making new voices as if nothing happened, with the pasta pieces moving around on the plate.
"And such a lucky lady she is to have you."
"You have a lot of nerve coming here, Antonio."
"I don't know what you mean partner, I'm just here to wet my whistle."
"We both know that isn't true. Once you take a sip of real liquor, you'll run back home crying to your mother like the mammone you are."
"And I thought you'd be the one to appreciate the value of family."
"I do. That's why you should go to them right now before you get yourself killed."
As the pasta kept on talking to each other, Regan and Kevin both slowly approached the plate to stare down at it.
As the two pasta pieces went out to have a gun showdown, the pasta set inside the plate morphed, now resembling a typical Western town with buildings on both sides with a wide space in the center which was completely perfect for showdowns between two bitter rivals.
Regan opened up his UI window as he used his observation skill on it, and then started chuckling loudly. "I've heard of spaghetti westerns but I've never seen that term be taken so literally. They're actually acting out parts from a Western right now."
"Regan. What the hell? There's no way I'm eating that. You know I make it a rule to never eat anything I can communicate with, or anything that can talk." Kevin was now mostly annoyed, now that he knew the alive pasta was harmless, even if it was still highly weird.
"Alright, alright." Regan was still chuckling when he focused on pulling food again, but the sounds of loud bangs from the plate as the pasta 'fired' on each other distracted him from thinking of food.
The Clock Puzzle is the first puzzle of Silent Hill 2 located in the Wood Side Apartments. It must be solved in order for the player to access Room 209.
Effect: Yet another thing that only lasts two hours. We have a weird clock that pops up in the Garnet Ghost Town, but as it isn't connected to any apartments here it's pretty much useless.
Regan shook his head as nothing seemed to pop up near them. "Got distracted that time."
He then focused again, this time doing his best to ignore the sentient pasta acting out a Western.
https://scifi.fandom.com/wiki/Jurassic_Park_III Roll 16
Jurassic Park III is a science fiction adventure film, the second sequel to Jurassic Park. It was directed by Joe Johnston, and released to the cinemas in the USA on 18 July 2001.
Effect: we would usually just make this one a holotape, but since Regan is so focused on something they can hunt and eat, this spawns mobs of dinosaurs in various places nearby as seen and featured in the third installation of the Jurassic Park series. The following breedable dinosaur species now roam Montana-- Spinosaurus (a crocodilian-like semi-aquatic giant creature that lives by the coastal areas usually, but can live in rivers, lakes, and oceans. It's noted for having a sail-like thing on its back, not unlike a shark's fin.)
Velociraptors (raptors the size of large-sized dogs)
T-rexes, and Corythosaurus (30 ft tall dinosaurs with skulls with tall crests that resemble those of the cassowary and a Corinthian helmet.)
Parasaurolophus (a hadrosaurid, known for its range of bizarre head adornments, which were likely used for communication and increased hearing.)
finally, and lastly the Pteranodon species. (the famous winged bird-like Pterodactyls)
Both Regan and Kevin jumped into action automatically soon as they noticed a lone Velociraptor appear out of nowhere, killing it instantly.
Kevin sighed. "I guess I'm having meat again. For a second there I thought we honestly would have something different for a change."
Regan just patted him on the back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When it finally became dark? That was when the first signs that this place was haunted, appeared out of nowhere.

Both Kevin and Regan had been simply relaxing by the fire, tending to the roasted Velociraptor on a long stick as they rotated it around.

And that's when they spotted something moving out of the corner of their eyes, and the two of them turned their heads in near-perfect sync only to find nothing there.

"What was that?" Kevin wondered.

Regan was quick to dismiss it. "It was probably mice or something?"

"Yeah. maybe." Kevin reluctantly agreed.

But, he saw something in the corner of his eyes again. And without turning his head, he slowly focused on it.

It was fuzzy but looked to be a very thin child in rags. Kevin turned his head towards it, only to find nothing there again. It was then that they both heard the sound of children playing and laughing.

This time, even Regan looked uneasy. He chuckled weakly as he grappled for an explanation that might make sense. "Y-you know… I heard there are animals out there that make sounds like a crying baby. Cougars, I think?"

Kevin smiled without the smile reaching his eyes. "Yeah! And there are birds out there that can do that too I think. How they mimic human voices."

The two men nodded at that. Yeah, it was just animals making noises at night… right?

Regan then checked on the roast raptor, and said, "I think this is thoroughly cooked now."

Kevin smiled. "Well, give it over here then!"

With that, Regan ripped the legs off both sides of the roasted corpse and gave Kevin one. With that, they sat on their logs and started eating with content expressions on their faces.

"Mmm. this tastes like turkey." Kevin commented appreciatively, "But I guess that's not too surprising because I heard birds are like the descendants of dinosaurs, right?"

Regan nodded and was about to say something when he noticed something moving in the distance. He quickly stood up, his hands still holding the large roasted raptor leg like it was a giant drumstick.

In the distance, where all the collapsed buildings were, there were glowing appropriations moving around. They looked like very blurry transparent versions of miners to Regan.

They looked to be going about their daily lives, unaware that they were dead and didn't belong here. They didn't even seem to notice that the buildings were all collapsed and gone, as they kept on going in and out of the place and even going up and down stairs that weren't there anymore.

"The hell?" Kevin was now standing, holding his own raptor drumstick in a similar way as he stared at the same things that Regan was.

Slowly, they started eating their drumstick due to having a lack of something else to do as they pondered what could cause this strange phenomenon because this surely couldn't be what they thought it was, right??

There was no such thing as ghosts!

"This is one of your summons, right?" Kevin said before he took another bite out of his drumstick.

Regan opened his UI window as he observed the ghost-like apparitions… and to his dismay, the UI window spelled out the following which Regan read out loud--

'Prime evidence of the supernatural. Not summoned by Regan or Karina. Seems to be a natural consequence of Garnet Town's residents all dying an unusual death after they all disappeared into the mine overnight, lured there by some strange entity. Not true sentient supernatural creatures as they seem to be nothing but spiritual imprints of those who died. Will not react to you and your friend no matter what you do. Analogous to tape recordings, really.'

"Bro, not funny at all." Kevin was sounding thoroughly spooked now, as the giant drumstick in his hand now dangled in his hand limply.

"I'm not joking, sorry to say," Regan said solemnly. He supposed that if superpowers and superheroes did in fact exist…. Then why not the world of the supernatural too?

The two of them then yelled loudly when they both felt an extremely cold hand touch their backs and they whirled around to find… nothing?

https://monsters.fandom.com/wiki/Rankor_(The_13_Ghosts_of_Scooby-Doo) Roll 20
The Rankor appeared in the 11th episode of the animated TV series called The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. He is one of the few monsters featured as being real rather than being a person in a costume as was the norm in most of the Scooby Doo series. He is described as a Vampire Demon or a Vampire Goblin. His biggest desire is to join the organization known as S.A.P.S (Spook And Poltergeist Society). As part of an initiation test, he was to trick Vincent Van Ghoul into looking at the Eye of Eternity, thus turning the man into stone. However, his entrance into SAPS hinged on the fact that the man was to stay in stone form forever, and he could be refused if Vincent was given the cure to turn back to normal. As a result, he becomes a major antagonist to the Scooby Doo gang for a large majority of the episode.
His appearance appears to be a cross between a stereotypical red-colored Satan and a gargoyle.

Effect: As this is a roll 20, this character is permanently summoned to this world, though Regan can send him back too. As this character can turn invisible at will, this character goes into hiding mode when startled and finds himself in a strange new world.

"Okay, fuck this shit. I'm out." Kevin loudly said as he went to pack up his giant drumstick and the rest of the dinosaur corpse.

Regan silently agreed with Kevin… he had seen plenty of horror movies to know what sort of thing would be in store for them if they still stuck around despite seeing so many supernatural red flags here.

Not to mention, what was that about some entity living in the mines that lured a whole town into coming inside there? That sounded like a whole bag full of NOPE if you asked Regan's opinion.

He rushed to help Kevin pack up everything of importance, and with that, they both rushed back to their car.

Unknown to them, an invisible vampire goblin creature was watching them with interest, and he blinked in disbelief when he saw the giant skull that was still tied down to the open hauler.

He could only wonder what kind of demon that skull had come from, and made a mental note to be on the watch out for any giants here.

But what really interested him, however, was the fact that he was feeling a strong wave of supernatural energy coming from the nearby mines. He couldn't help but wonder what he'd find in there if he went into there…

Like a moth to a flame, the vampire goblin slowly wandered towards the ancient mine… completely ignoring the black car speeding off into the night.

Karina is living the magical princess dream, but Regan and Kevin are living the protagonist life, y'know?

Kinda sad he wimped out but sometimes tv episodes and movies would have the main characters just run away
