Taylor Hebert and Her Rather Sad Life [Worm/The Gamer/D&D3.5]

If you guys have the bright fucking idea of having Taylor go and whine to the youth guard for this shit, I will abandon this quest if something like that ever wins.

There is bad ideas. But then there's catastrophically bad ideas.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It also pretty much goes against the current goal of not making Taylor seem like a self-absorbed child, even though that honestly probably isn't going to work this round.

Especially if the vote that has Taylor go on a long rant and berates Piggot wins.

-edit-

I might be a tad bit cranky right now.

I don't think I have seen anyone mention going to the YG (and I have no idea about what they are. I've seen the name mentioned a few times, but that's it).

Also, if it helps, I'd suggest just stepping away from the thread for a while until you are feeling better. Coming back here is going to do nothing more than remind you about all the arguing.

Actually cranky because I'm sick. But yeah, staying out of this thread for a bit might do me some good if I'm imagining people wanting to go whine to the youth guard.

Oooh, there's a good idea.

[jk] Tell Piggot that the Youth Guard said we should ask for that.

Betrayed by a fellow cat! I couldn't have possibly saw that coming!

:lol

Closest thing to not going on a rant and people are so against the wards it makes the last vote largely useless. Why vote for the no but if a single grumpy adult causes Taylor to bail.

Blaming the Youth Guard for our disagreeable behavior is best possible use of Youth Guard though!

Larekko12's vote is pretty similar to the last one I voted on already, but it doesn't provide the dialog. Granted it seems to also have Taylor explain why she wants the extra money/bounty as being tinker related, but I'm not sure it's different enough that a separate write-in is needed to split the vote. Hopefully, QM will combine some aspects of different votes that are pretty close to each other since she says she doesn't go by vote number alone.

As to the issue of a single adult causing Taylor to bail--it's not just any single adult, but her boss if she was to join. A recently triggered person who was bullied for nearly two years working for someone who comes off as an abrasive bully--yeah, that'll turn out well.

Edit:
Thinking about it, having Taylor say in her I'm not going to join now speech something along the lines of, "Despite what you seem to be implying and think, me asking to keep bounties is not because I think I'm a hot shot or because of greed, but rather due to the needs of my power" would help in not burning bridges with the rest of the PRT.

Edit2:
Meh, Larekko's vote, The Stormbringer's vote, same thing.

It's my vote, not Larekko12's. o.o

But yeah, part of the reason I didn't put in a bunch of dialog is because I figure the QM can do a better job, and will likely take things in their own direction anyway. I was just trying to cover all the bases, not burn any bridges, and give just enough to make us appear cooperative and friendly.

Much arrogance. Well yes. One of 64 directors is something to be wary of. Because she has friends among her other directors and in congress. And the political blocs in charge watch this sorta thing and aren't in favor of it.

The BB PRT has two tinkers and one is a ward who doesn't know his specialty. The other is Armsmaster but he's more focused on the Gang with international connections and represents an actual ideology and has a high turnover rate (mostly because he's more focused on them) and the gang that has the suicide bomber and Endbringer dragon who soloed all capes in the city and has a serious human trafficking ring.
There is no canon evidence that he is focusing on them. In fact outside of Bakuda's rampage and E88 being outed the PRT seems to ignore them as much as they can get away with. E88 has a high turnover because Kaiser is an ass who drives away his own minions they aren't being arrested they are quiting and moving elsewhere.

He clearly isn't making progress on those two gangs so why not take down the easy one?

The only gang we ever see the Protectorate take the initiative against is the Undersiders because they had good PR and were making the PRT look bad. Oh and Taylor's missions outside Brockton Bay but the only one of those that weren't on Taylor's initiative was the one against Magic themed gang which was in responce to a ward quitting to join up with them, thus making them look bad.

Because they're outnumbered and outgunned, how do you actually expect the PRT to fight a gang that completely outnumbers them with both the Wards, the Protectorate AND New Wave combined? Especially when there are already a whole load of independent heroes and villains running around who are likely fighting as well.

Someone drank too much of the protagonist centred morality Koolaid, newsflash the Undersiders had SHITTY PR, the only people that liked them were the ones in TAYLOR'S territory (and possibly Lisa's given she set up homeless shelters and stuff) everyone else believed they were the exact same as the gangs they ousted.

They also who mastered a Ward, broke into the PRT building and attacked them unprovoked to steal data from Dragon and were suspected to be Battery's killers, the ones who drove Panacea INSANE and got her to turn Vicky into her flesh-garden form and were suspiciously the ONLY ones to come out on top every time. They also attacked the fucking Mayor and his family as well as two members of the protectorate in their civilian ID's.

There were also villains who were trying to copy what the Undersiders did in other cities and the PRT needed to do something so they didn't FALL APART before the next Endbringer fight.

Though calling him a nitwit might have been a bad idea. Since starting to insult eachother as we debate is just asking for mod intervention.

Also, when did we start debating about canon Worm in this thread?

The Nine tuned Panacea insane and everyone knew it. Also you do realize hat there are only five Undersiders so Taylor + Lisa's territory = 40% of the city.

No they DON'T the heroes think either the Nine or Tattletale did it because she's a high level thinker (who may be psychic) and Panacea was last seen in the Undersider's company before she disappeared with the Injured Glory Girl before turning up a week later completely bonkers and with GG turned into an immobile pile of flesh.

"I don't want to forget Glory Girl and Panacea," Clockblocker said. "She and her sister did me a life-changing favor. We don't know the whole story there, but the Undersiders or the Nine had to have played a part in how that unfolded. But that's one hell of a list of names. There's less of us than there are them, and we're losing. Not just fights, but we're losing this war. Don't you see that?"

I think there's an easier way to get what we want (that is, paid).

[x] Adopt an apologetic expression. "Well, maybe not bounties, then. You're right, that could stress the team dynamics. You see..." Feed her a line about your powers requiring raw materials such as metals and rare earths. If they *fund* your spell research and item creation, then you're golden.

It isn't about the money it's about never having a bigoted, unprofessional idiot like Pigot as a superior

Ah. That was something I wanted to suss out. I haven't read any of Worm in years, so I'm just going off of this story. So far all Piggot has said has been both true and was good negotiation tactics.

Us asking for money, and her responding with indignance, both seem fairly straightforward to me.

Pretty sure at they fund tinkers just fine. It's just that a) the items created have to go through an extensive review process, and b) anything created belongs to the PRT, not to the individual cape.

The bounties would be our own money, so anything we made from it would belong to us, allowing us to sell it/give it away/use it in civillain life.

That was my impression in any case.

And yeah, there's a lot of Piggot hate right now. I'm just tired of the argument and want to get out without declaring war on the PRT so we can get back to the far more important business of leveling and being awesome.

I don't think you quite understand the severity of the situation, sir. Her words hurt our feelings. We are a special and delicate flower and such rudeness shall not be tolerated!

Context is everything. Taylor is a parahuman who Triggered due to bullying. Under the circumstances the "hard sell" goes from dubious in value to outright idiocy.

Made me laugh. Sounds good to me.

Personally, I think getting ourselves and dad some protection from the bigger nasties might be prudent. If not the wards, who else could we turn to? Dragon?

As much as I like your vote, I think it comes off as too conciliatory, even submissive, especially in response to Piggot's abrasive, bullying posture. I'm sure super-smart Taylor can adopt such a stance--all she needs to do is tap into the two years worth of "If I don't respond, maybe they'll stop bothering me," that she tried under the Trio--but I'm not sure she should have to, nor is it a good idea to concede so much to an aggressor, because it just encourages them to do it again, the next time there is a disagreement.
