Pontius Glaw, it should be noted, was never a good man. He was intelligent and eloquent and sophisticated, yes, but he was also a decadent noble, a slave trader and a man who liked to watch other people die screaming in the arena, developing a reputation for hosting gladiator tournaments and arena events infamous for their cruelty.

He himself claims that the golden torc didn't corrupt him, as such, it just "showed him the truth of the universe", which I take to more or less mean it gave him a really nasty vision trip and/or moment of psychic awakening that let him peer into the warp. Notably his behaviour after his corruption didn't actually change all that much, it just deepened and grew more extreme. Virtually any tome of lore or charismatic heretic could have started Glaw down that path.

ah that makes much more sense thanks

[X] Nadia. As a seasoned voidfarer and former Rogue Trader, Nadia is the one best positioned to break away and strike out on her own, and her behaviour so far suggests she will at first opportunity. You need to work on convincing her to take you with her when she goes.

[X] Sidhe. The Aeldari are infamous for their duplicity and slippery nature, and if Sidhe hasn't already worked out a way to escape or turn this to her advantage you'd be very surprised. Build on your rapport, and get her on your side.

We 100% don't want to be signing up for Captain Ciro's Wild Ride, and Nadia and Sidhe are the two members of the group who have displayed reticence to Ciro's itinerary/authority. They're absolutely the choices to make here; our current relationship with each isn't deep enough to establish any level of trust, hence why it's important that we spend more time to build a stronger connection with each so that we have some actual support when we need it.

[X] Plan Learn how to Lie
-[X] +1 Fellowship (- 6 XP)
-[X] +1 Deception (- 6 XP)

Given that we're going to be hunted by the Imperium for the rest of our lives (however long that turns out to be), and are likely to have to deal with backstabbing and scheming amongst most allies we come into contact with, learning how to lie is going to be very important for us. We also need to work on improving our Insight and Command skills, but I suppose we can deal with that later.

I too want off of Captain Ciro's Wild Ride.

I think Slave to darkness said something abut chaos is amplify the worst trait in us.
Try to use chaos in useful manner will always backfire because nature of chaos is chaos.
Psyker is a mix bag thought.

I think white scare psyker getting offer the cup by daemon. They need to drink only half the cup and return the rest to daemon.

If you don't drink form the cup then you can not become psyker,if you drink all the cup then you will getting corrupted.
Psyker is difficult road to walk between mortal and damnation.

Navigators aren't actually psykers, they just have an eye that opens a hole into the warp when it's opened, they can't learn any of the psyker disciplines. Apparently it's a lot more reliable than using regular psykers because Imperial ships pretty much always go with navigators, even with their absurd price tag.
The reason is likely that Navigators not being psykers dont have an openning from the warp straight into their mind. Psykers are far more at risk of the situation becoming suddenly Daemons than a Navigator.

Alright, I'm going to call the vote there. It looks like you're spending some time with Sidhe and with Nadia during the enforced downtime while the repairs are underway, good to know.

You've also opted to spend xp on raising fellowship and deception. Given the lower vote count there and feedback from the thread, I think next time I give out xp I'll present a few options/suggestions on what you could buy with that amount, alongside a free plan option.
Scheduled vote count started by Maugan Ra on Sep 19, 2021 at 5:56 PM, finished with 80 posts and 44 votes.

I admit to laziness. I didn't see an Informational post, so I just noped out of searching through the thread to find the rules and character sheet.

Turns out it's in the first page, but slapping am Informational tag on it would make me more likely to get involved in advancement.

I... put a direct link to the character sheet in the vote box. But fair enough, I'll add an info threadmark as well.

Say @Maugan Ra I am not familiar with the system for psychic powers in this quest, two questions about shape flesh:
  1. How long does it last, until dismissed or just until the end of the scene/battle? Could we just walk around with wings? Because if so I do not see why not, it is not like we are in company that would object to the sight of mutation and wings sound nice to have long term
  2. How limited is 'useful mutation'? Could we for instance give ourselves better senses by imitating animals and birds which have such?

Shape Flesh is... well ok in the actual rpg rules its a temporary thing, I'm making it permanent for the sake of this quest because that's much easier to keep track of. So yes, Vincenzo could make a change like that and just leave it in place. He's not going to, in this case, because he's still carrying a lot of cultural baggage about mutation and how his view of himself is tied up in his "natural" form. Adopting a more... I guess transhumanist mindset would be a reasonable description, where he's willing to just radically reshape himself over the long term, that's something he can potentially reach as the quest progresses.

(Or he could embrace Tzeentch and get right past those pesky mental roadblocks about the sanctity of the physical form)

"Useful mutation" is pretty broad. Vincenzo could indeed give himself better senses by copying those of another species. Notably, this would expand his capabilities and options, but it wouldn't be a case of "I use shape flesh to set my strength score to 10" - if you gave me hyper-swollen muscles overnight, for example, I'd probably be a right clumsy fool who still acted like I expected to be as strong as I was yesterday, rather than instantly figuring out how to move and fight with my new bodyplan. Bit of an arbitrary limit, but that's what xp spending or specifically directed plot developments are for.

Yeah that sounds reasonable. I mean if we are going to have the superpower to give ourselves mutations, it is probably best to cast the thing once and then change rarely rather than risk our soul with casting often. As for what I consider using this for, personalty i do not think base stats are that useful all things told.

We already hit things with a sword made partially out of mind juice. Mostly I would like sharper senses, or better yet more of them, things like echo-location to be able to move in pitch darkness, infrared sight to better target exothermic enemies, that kind of thing. Does that sound like something we could do with it?

when you say it permanent do you mean for combat rolls and through next one until the sequence of combat plan then combat or for the rest of foresable future this is his new form

Maugan you said the same thing twice

I am not good at mechanic so I don't have any opinion of xp.
But maybe we should increase leadership next?

If we don't become mook then we should aim to be the boss.
