Strange Tides

On the one hand I'm glad you guys are so quick on the uptake since it shows interest. On the other I feel embarrassed to have that error preserved so many times.

If going forward with the marriage resulted in '-5', what would 'you are just barbaroi' have given us?

I don't want to get too latinized. If we were far away enough I would have felt comfortable completely ignoring her in favor of a different god entirely, but we're only in Italy, well within the sphere of her influence. We're going to have to build a temple for Demeter if we want to preserve long-term goals of building an empire and not starving. -_-

That was my fault, I should have caught it. Sorry.
Might as well confirm it now, yes you are. Hyphyria is sitting on the site of Rome.

It was quite funny to see the guessing game though. :V
Hey, I'm just thrilled we're not in Ireland.

@DragonParadox @Azel, so for growing the Olive Grove for 20 turns, do we need to consistently put an action in it for 20 each of the 20 turns or is that something that's just started one turn and takes 20 turns to mature in the background?

20 turns is a lot.

  1. Don't worry about it.
  2. No, a construction project takes one action to start and will then continue without the need for further attention. Costs are spent per turn, and if the costs can't be paid, construction stalls. Too much staling means progress is lost.

See the note at the top of the construction spoiler. You invest an action once, then the project proceeds in the background. The only exception here are random events that need another action (such as a mine being delayed by a cave-in, necessitating to change plans) or more complicated stuff like draining the area between the hills, which requires more planning.

Oh, awesome. Then we should totally get an Olive Grove. That's a major resource for our empire building, not only for food for ourselves, but trading goods and gifts as well. There's a reason that olive oil was one of the prizes in the Olympics.

Keep in mind that you need to convert a farmstead to make one and that it won't produce supplies anymore. Or anything at all during construction for that matter.

So, to expand we need more land to farm or more efficient farms, right? Else we get problems with starvation?

[] [Construction] Temple of Demeter
[] [Military] Try to explore some more. (Pick up to 2 options. Can double down on one option.)
-[] The southern shores.
-[] The northern shores.
[] Isidoros
-[] The wet valleys between the hills are very fertile. Though no work can start yet, winter would be a good time to take measurements and plan how to drain them.
[] Argurios
-[] Logging Camp

Partial proposal, mainly geared towards mega-farms and olives in future turns. I'm not sure what to do with the girl since every indication is that she can't be trusted yet.

Any pagan nature or harvest gods in the area we can sacrifice to or build a temple for? I'm against doing anything to appease Demeter.

The first sacrifices can be Demeter's priests.

Gradivus fits the bill there, though the chance of your citizens accepting to see Demeter replaced with some weird barbaroi god out of the blue is slim. The people are very aware who has successfully wrecked Orchomenos and nobody is keen on a repeat of that.

@Azel can we construct a Temple of Poseidon? It was he who granted us safe passage to Italy away from Demeter, and we should thank him for that. That and extra food from the ocean would be nice.
