Stark Quest 2.0: The Search for Shinies

I have a suggestion. Lets spend more XP!

More specifically, I wonder if it would be worth it to spend 25 XP to boost Focus up one level? Since Focus increases the speed at which we learn, it might be worth it for only 25 before our next training session?

Also, after the bonus, we could boost Aura, Control and Senses up one level for 5 XP each. Might be worth it so that time is not wasted on that.

Btw, how is the whole mind understanding stat normally calculated anyway? Assuming no more bonuses, what would we need to do to reach 4?

@Mazrick, can someone use names, observation or mind sequences if they are blindfolded and can't see the enemy?

While I find it unlikely that Tavars host is hostile, Alratan is going to go paranoid so might aswell see if theres a way to avoid that.

Would be funny if Dany turns out to be Cersei Version 2.0, wouldn't it? :D

Possible, but unlikely. At least not until she has a sociopathic child she can dote on and make excuses for.

Speaking of children, just imagine the children Harlon and Dany would have! I can just envision their son. Let's see... traits. Genius, of course, we must pass that on. Let's stick with brown hair, but keep the Targ eyes. Probably be as ruthless as the two of them could get, too. Might be a bit more of a pretty boy, given his mother's looks. Oh, and I guess the kid would suck at sports.

I can see only one result.

Q&A with Tavar via Jon

Harlon: If you want to talk at all, we need you to swear an oath to answer our questions truthfully. No lies, even by omission.
Tavar: I swear to answer your questions without lies or omissions.

Harlon(to Jon): Jon, can you feel that the oath truly binds her to tell the truth or if it is just a ploy.

Jon(to Harlon): No. All I hear is her voice in my mind. There's nothing like what you described with Ithroen.

Harlon(to Jon): Alright. We'll proceed with caution then.

Harlon: Are there any limitations or costs to asking you questions?

Tavar: No. I'm bound to my word, thus I must answer any questions that you may ask.

Harlon: What are you?

Tavar: I'm the mistress of the Forsaken Court. We are to demons what you are to monkeys.

Harlon: What are your powers? Can you use them in your current state?

Tavar: No. I require a vessel. If we can reach an accord, I'm eager to serve. I have much to teach. I'm the foremost amongst my kind in seeing the past, present, and future. I can also teach you to speed up, defend, or attack others minds. Or I can teach you to order the world to move at your command.

There is also a great power that will devastate the World. I can protect you and yours from this, but I must have a host, and some modicum of freedom before I can do any of this.
Harlon: What is this great power?

Tavar: It is a magic that makes all of the other magics of this time look like a child's toy, but its coming will kill the uninitiated. As I said I can ensure that you survive its coming, and if you are gifted, I can even teach you and you will become truly powerful.

Harlon: Why were you in Illyrio's employ? What did he offer you?

Tavar: He offered me the Targaryen princess as a vessel. Her blood makes her strong in the Magics of time, and she is a locus for events. With her body, I can teach others to use the magic I spoke of before, and make the most out of my powers. In return, I swore to use my powers in his service as I would for you.

Harlon: Locus of events?

Tavar: She is what we call a Ta'veren. A dangerous being who unconsciously warps reality around her to better suit her ends. My possession of her would allow that power to fall under your control. I do admit that I would benefit greatly from such a host as well.

Harlon: What are Daenerys' magical abilities, and how good is she at each of them?

Tavar: She is still a learner, but she learns quickly. She knows the Name of Fire and Earth and is a novice in Mind Magic. However, Master Illyrio forbade me from teaching her of Time because it would have made her far too dangerous. Instead, I carry that power with me wherever I go, and would have used it within her. She carries on her an artifact tied to her bloodline that keeps her and her immediate surroundings from being Observed, but she does not know its true value.

Harlon: Are there ways for you to communicate with her at range?

Tavar: No.

Harlon: What is Daenarys's personality like? Does she truly want to conquer Westeros or is that a notion put into her head? If so, can she be dissuaded from that path? Which Houses in Westeros does she hate, what would she do if she met members of those Houses and what future plans does she have? Does she have any weaknesses, either in character or in skills, that can be exploited? If yes, then how?

.....

Jon: She went silent, and won't respond to any of my questions

[ ] Carry on with your earlier plan
-[ ] Write-in. Any alterations?
[ ] Question Daenerys
-[ ] Write-in. What questions?
[ ] Try to entice Tavar to speak more.
-[ ] Write-in. How?

Ok, I think based on everything she was being honest. Dany is confirmed to be ta'veren, so killing her is likely a no go - something improbable will likely happen to get in our way. Try to execute her, and Drogo will have found our base and we'd have to feel, or something like that.

Oh wow. She went all out, didn't she?
That's a lot of information she didn't really have to share in the first sitting.

We know, OOC, that Ta'veren multiply each other's effect, which could be interesting.

The last question has "her" in it. We meant Tavar, not Dany, but it reads as if we meant Dany.

In any case, I don't see why we wouldn't continue with the questions we already decided upon. After our session with Tavar, we can try to verify the information with her host or, later perhaps, Dany.

Edit: Now why doesn't she want to answer us? hmmm?

The mistress of the Forsaken? I think Aluthair may disagree. Not being all that truthful then either.

Should have asked what she knew of us. Also just because Dany is ta'veren it doesn't make her immune to dieing, in fact we should definitely kill her now so that we can absorb her ta'veren so that ours becomes stonger, that's how it works right? Like the Highlander

[X] Try to entice Tavar to speak more.
-[X] Write-in: "I see that you don't want to answer my questions about your potential host. Interesting. Perhaps she is more useful to me without you than with you then?"
-[X] Make it seem like we're interrogating Dany separately, if that's necessary for her to believe us. For some reason Dany is also unable to use magic on us.

Might get her to talk.

Oh fuck. I've just realized - the last question revealed that we know too much about Dany, stuff we have no way of knowing without spying on them, reading minds or possessing people. Damn it.
