STAR WARS: The Galactic Civil War

*Lightsabers slicing through entire Droid Battalions say what?*

I don't know what the Star War-Fans obsession with making the Jedi out to be useless idiots is. They aren't.

No, they aren't going to be the main focus of this War, but claiming they won' be Heroes and valuable Allies is disingenuous at best and utterly ignorant at worst.
It is perhaps more accurate to say that shoehorning Jedi into the role of high-ranking generals is a gross misapplication of their order's skillsets baring some exceptions, which Palpatine would have been more than fine with. Even for those skilled in combat, their proficiency with a lightsaber and combat prowess will be at odds with the need as an officer to coordinate large bodies of men and materiel. They'd be more useful as low-ranking offers and special operations NCOs in such cases.

They'd also be exceptionally useful in humanitarian and diplomatic missions, as that is what the Order had specialized in for the Post-Ruusan Era.

mmmmmhhhhh

Special forces Jedi, I like it. You know, looking at their skill set and the feats they can pull off, why not? Let's create an entire regiment of special forces Jedi, I'm pretty sure we have enough volunteers.

The fanfic Interregnum on AO3 I think really does a good job of fixing that and one that I hope we manage to embody in this quest. The war in Part 2 is not won single-handedly by the Jedi. Heck, they mostly served to check the activities Sith.

Oh I read that it was good.

'New Republic Leadership is dumb/apathetic/never does anything ever'

Oh don't even get me started there, as if New Republic wasn't dumb enough in Old EU, Disney dialed them to downright brainless and made Old Republic look good! They de-militarized after ONE FREAKING YEAR after Endor! And suddenly got dissapeared like they never existed when the capital got destroyed! I swore Disney only made New Republic even more idiotic just to make that smaller and dumber pale copy of Rebellion look good and the idiotic twin of Empire but everyhthing shiny and even dumber look like a threat.

Everyone lost their IQ post-Endor in Disney canon.

Oh, definitely, that was dumb too.

But at least it only happened once, and not over, and over, and over again.
I blame Karen Traviss.
So do I.

He is also opposed to the war, not part of the war effort, since Corellia is neutral. All his military assistance during the war was as a private citizen, and I doubt many in the military circles would be happy with a commander who didnnot rise through the ranks the normal way.
He was opposed to the Canon War.

He may not be so much to this one, which is much less ambiguous about which side is in the wrong.

But the rest of the points stand though. He's not a formal part of the military chain of command. And he's very much green, since he developed his skills while fighting as a militia force in OTL.

If he goes that way in this timeline, he may be a good fit further into the war, once he's properly seasoned.

So, completely random thought, but what might be the ITL reason for the Acclamators not bombarding the defenseless Confederacy ships on the ground at Geonosis? Was it the enhanced anti-air defenses as was mentioned in the omake?

Garm, like some of the other american civil war generals that I'm basing this war on, in addition to the second world war.

Are political appointments to get people to back the war.

Of course Corellia wants one of their own to be a high ranking general in the GAR, regardless of experience.:V

Why don't we just appoint him as the general of the Corellia militia or something like that? Or if we have to give him something more prestigious, give him a post on Coruscant.
