STAR WARS: The Galactic Civil War

Looks like all of the armies are a mix of volunteers and clones. Looks like there are a lot more volunteers for the army in TTL compared to the OTL.
To be fair in this timeline they know they're in the right.

It's not just "fighting the Separatist" it's fighting the people who have those planets and populations by the throat. Jar Jar displayed for all to see that their war isn't one about ideals or freedoms but about power and control.

They split off because they didn't like the fact that Jar Jar was putting the Republics money where its mouth was instead of continuing the centuries long game of "who can get the most graft."

There are 6 more armies and several other regiments outside the armies I need to create. It's part one people

Here we go, for the first part of the Order of Battle for the Grand Army of the Republic.

204th Special Operations Regiment – "The Havoc Regiment"

  • Motto: "Break Their Ranks"
  • Battalions:
    • 1st "Rogue Shadows" Battalion
    • 2nd "Flame Bearers" Battalion
    • 3rd "Storm Wolves" Battalion
    • 4th "Dead Man's Hand" Battalion

404th Special Operations Regiment – "Shadow Company"

  • Motto: "You Never Saw Us"
  • Battalions:
    • 1st "Nightfall" Battalion
    • 2nd "Specters" Battalion
    • 3rd "Wraiths of War" Battalion
    • 4th "Eclipse" Battalion
YOOOO, IT'S HAVOC SQUAD! WE'RE SO BACK!!!

Also, ayyyy, Shadow Company? Is that a Modern Warfare reference?

I don't know how to map Star Wars all that well
Maybe you can take inspiration from Sublight Drive. The author puts out some pretty cool maps. Although I don't know how he does it or what software he uses to modify the maps. You could probably get away with just MS Paint and drawing lines on a map

[Completed] Sublight Drive (Star Wars)

It is twenty-two years before the Battle of Yavin, and the galaxy is at war. Born to a not unimportant, not important planet in the Inner Rim, Rain never placed much thought into his future. After all, the galaxy is vast, and peaceful living should not be hard to find. Two decades later, armies...

I was thinking forces lifted perhaps from planetary defense forces, as some of them would decide to volunteer (either as individuals or as entire units).

Yeah, the volunteer division in the 2nd Army is literally that. It's the Outland Defense Force that was integrated into the regular Republic Army. The Outland Defense Force being Tarkin's project in developing a force that could defend the Outer Rim.

You know, this Clone Wars sort of mirrors the US Civil War with the amount of volunteer regiments and local militia being integrated into the Regular United States Army.

Edit: US Civil War quest on SV if anyone is interested.

Will we eventually get a galactic map that shows all of the borders and battle fronts between the Republic and Confederacy?

As we're technically in the middle of the same map going to shit / all hell breaking loose, I think it's better to only work with a cognitive or head canon map and otherwise consider fog of war obscuring the granular details.

This is especially true in Sublight Drive, where the protag has to zoom about with limited intel, that is: "submarines shouldn't be able to communicate while submarine(ing)," among other factors.

4th Republic Army – "The Shock Army" (Skywalker's Finest)

  • Commander: General Anakin Skywalker
  • Deputy Commander: Commander Ahsoka Tano
  • Motto: "Strike Fast, Strike First, Strike Last"
Anakin has hit the front. Considering his OTL track record, I could see them quickly becoming elite to survive the Skywalker grade nonsense and tactics he pulls on the regular. Though if tempered, he'd be even scarier than OTL given his tactics always brought RESULTS. Just, he sometimes underestimates how difficult some things may be for others.

It also helps that the Republic leadership actually WANT volunteers, given OTL Palps wouldn't have been fond of it because sending people's sons and daughters to die on the frontlines does put a dampener on wanting to continue the war, which palpatine wanted to avoid as he pushed towards his endgame.

FOR THE REPUBLIC!!!!!

Also, I think in the previous quest we also gave the Clones citizenship and rights so they'll probably fight even harder here than in the OTL.

Also also, where are the Clone Commandos? Are they a part of the Recon regiments in the Clone divisions?

Edit: We should also probably create an equivalent to the Clone Commandos but with regular volunteers. I want to create a sort of Army Rangers unit or a Delta Force. US Delta Force expy, not the Clone Commando Delta Squad, since that already exists.

Man, I can already see all of the rivalries between the different special forces units.

Edit 2: Unless, the Special Operations Regiments in the volunteer armies are already our version of Army Rangers.

Uh, I don't know if I just missed them but I don't see the Helldivers regiment anywhere here. Are they part of a separate special operations command?

Ah, good. I was about to say 'Aren't we missing some people?'
