It doesn't even make sense in-universe. Wasn't one of the places that Daala attacked Mon Cala? The heart of the GFFA/NR military?
Oh, you're 100% right. It does not make sense in-universe. And yes, she did attack Mon Calamari and sink one of their cities during the Jedi Academy Trilogy. Her Chief of State and han's rather blase reaction to it at the end of Legacy of the Force destroys Suspension of Disbelief. It's stupid. It's nonsensical. I am NOT joking when I said my potted plant would make a better Chief of State than that triggerhappy yahoo.

Force forbid we have a non-evil reasonably competent leadership.

*Points to Legacy comics, where you've got Gar Stazi, later joined by K'Kruhk and Marasiah in Legacy II, none of whom are evil or incompetent*

Funny enough, I was watching a SW from RotJ clip and it had TIE Interceptors shooting down A-Wings and in turn getting shot down by Y-wings of all things. Either that pilot was one hell of a flyer (because shooting down interceptor craft with a bomber is amazing) or that was one hell of a lucky shot.

He allowed that atrocity of a fighter called Crossfire to still be flown by the GA forces, that it a goddamn crime against good taste.

(can you tell I really dislike the GA fighter?)

What's wrong with the CF9? How about the Scythe-class battlecruisers?

It only takes one mistake...

Well, it does look a bit bulky.

I like the look of the X-83 Twin-tail though.

I really dug the scythe class.

The CF9 is a weird fighter- the alliance's main fighter is a tough B-wing descendant rather than a sleek X-wing or A-wing relative. It grew on me and it certainly does mark things as different, but it was an eyebrow raising choice with an unusual look.

Funny way of saying "ugly as sin".

The real question then: Daala or Trump?
Let's not bring politics into fictional politics.

The annoying thing is, making Daala the President/PM/Whatever She Was Called isn't an intrinsically terrible idea on its own. It could have been a great message about how with the savagery of the Vong Invasion and the clusterfuck that was Jacen Solo, people across the galaxy were putting aside their differences to help build another, stronger society, with former enemies working side by side to ensure a more peaceful future.

Instead, they just had Daala never develop from being a fucking nutcase. Which, while occasionally hilarious, just made the Galactic Alliance's upper echelons look like a bunch of goddamn retards for putting someone so obviously unstable in a position of power.

Though as the beginning of this post dodged, that happens all the time in real life...

You know, I remember a long time ago I wrote a very short crackfic where Daala was a willing pawn for Davros. She'd weaken the Galactic Alliance, so the Daleks could invade and take over. But as she was talking with him, the TARDIS vworped onto Tattooine. Admittedly, that was about it for that one.

No, it seems most of the authors were running with that- it really kinda hits home when reading stuff like Children of the Jedi.
Honestly, I really like that take on the Jedi. Wish it had stuck.

OK, I just finished rereading Vector Prime. And this is a pretty drastic misrepresentation of that situation.
Alright, I'll take your word on it.

TBH I only really remember the Council from the first Fate book, where it just seemed to have come out of nowhere and was full fledged prequel mode, Grand Master Skywalker and all. That and the brown robes out of nowhere from the comic probably significantly colored my impressions on them trying to ape the PT too much.

Well that and Jacen Solo kind of being prequel-Anakin in LOTJ but whatever.
