Wait, This is from How Long Ago!?
You were tired. There were so many things that you could be doing right now. Sparring with Ahsoka, teaching some younglings about some awesome force powers. Or talk to Master Kenobi about dealing with the rebellious and board padawans who wanted to fight in the war just so that they can have a chance to end it.
No, you had to read the Temple's very large and very detailed expense reports, and tax audits.
Thankfully, you had help. "So Ahsoka, do you see any discrepancies with the-"
"No." She replied as she scrolled through the thing.
"Why are we here?" Caleb groaned as he took the completed scrolls and expense reports and put them into the cart for the council to read again.
"Because Laron wants to make things difficult for us, and Ordo is off-world." Ahsoka stated.
"Well, you did say you would help me with the whole situation because the council shoved reforming the order and making it my problem. Along with your problem now." You replied as you marked off a few irregularities.
"I hate you Laron." Ahsoka groaned as she hit her head on the table. "If I read one more report, I'm going to destroy the ones we have left."
Caleb then quickly hid behind the cart. "I don't want to be anywhere near her when that happens Laron."
You rolled your eyes. "Hey, I'll protect you Caleb."
There was a pause before you began laughing and throwing a tablet at Ahsoka. "Come on Ahsoka, if you are so willing to destroy them, do it!"
That earned a batch of the unfinished reports being picked up by the Force, from Ahsoka, before they were dropped on you, the neat pile they were in clattering across the floor of the Archives.
You were playing with the reports like children.
Maybe it was because you were. And it took now to realize that you did not need to stress about the horrors of the business of adulting. You needed to be things.
A few minutes passed, you all finished destroying and throwing around the tablets, and began to clean up.
"Hey Laron, what's this?" Caleb showed a tablet that was cracked. "I uh, that looks Huttese?"
You looked at it and saw that, yes indeed it was in Huttishe. And what you saw was insane. "What the kriff?" You turned to Ahsoka. "Ahsoka, forget everything, look for anything in Huttishe, and mark them down."
"Why?" She asked.
"Because the Republic has been stealing money from the Jedi to pay off the Hutts." You stated.
"Wait what? That's insane, how could that be, the Jedi Order doesn't pay any taxes, nor are there any agreements for the order to pay bribe money?" Ahsoka stated.
You then turned to Caleb "Bring me back the condensed expense reports from the last two hundred years, and focus on only items that are in Huttes."
"Wait, what?" Caleb asked. "I don't know how to do that?"
"Find Master Agruuva then, but be quick. I don't think the Orders Coffers can survive any more of this blatant corruption." You stated.
------------------------------------------------
The Council was not amused when you had basically barged in. "Masters, I apologize, but I have important information."
"What is it Padawan Null." Master Windu asked, looking more and more concerned with your frantic movements.
"Uh, can everyone see the reports that my friends are handing over?" You asked as Caleb and Ahsoka handed over the pads of your findings.
All the council members soon had datapads and were reading through them. "When we were looking through the orders present taxes, we noticed irregularities, and then blatant bribery and corruption in the Republic handling of the tax codes. The Republic then siphoned more money than it was allowed to by the Orders Charter, into a secret account. Said account was used to pay off the Hutts."
That made all the councilors look very nervous, and then to Mace Windu, whose hands were shaking, first in outrage, then in anger. "How long?" He asked.
You and Ahsoka traded a glance. "Well, from our preliminary findings… 300 years at least, as we know for certain.." You said.
"It was brokered by a Rugess Nome when he was a consultant to the Chancellor when he was designing a new fighter for the Judicial's," Ahsoka stated. "But we suspect it is much longer within previous administrations. Because these irregularities have been going on, according to Caleb, for almost a thousand years."
The Council then traded glances. "But that evidence has not been substantiated with Republic records." You replied.
There was silence. "Padawans. You have done a great service." Master Windu stated, calmly, despite his anger bubbling underneath his demeanor. But it was not anger coming from him in a dark way, but he was focused. Determined. A force not unlike the force itself. "We must discuss among ourselves."
And you left without a word, fearing that your presence was not wanted
-------------------------
After a meeting with the Chancellor, things changed.
You knew that from the fact that the Ebon Hawk was being refitted with more modern blaster cannons and a new hyperdrive that wasn't prone to breaking down. "I thought you said we would not refit it because we lacked funds?" You asked the hanger master.
"Republics giving us more cash. No idea why."
There was also one more thing that changed.
"Hey Laron, are you the Accountant like Kenobi is the Negotiator?"
Oh no.
------------------------
Reward: You have discovered the Republic has been illegally taxing the order to bribe the Hutts.
The Republic taxes have been suspended due to… quite literally them stealing from the Order, and are trying to get the Order's money back.
There is also a tone of Jedi Ships being upgraded.
The Ebon Hawk has been upgraded with lots of new weapons, shields, and engines.
The Hutts lose billions in Bribe money.
The Young Jedi have been placated for now, but the need for reform remains.
ANL Enjoy.
