Star Wars, a Fractured Galaxy - Game Thread

[The Emperor's Transmission plays in the War Room of The SSD Crucible. Sitting before it is Moff Baltzar Vall and his two closest advisors, Commander Feneble and Senior Lieutenant Kester. The transmission is turned off shortly before its end.]

Feneble, an man in his late 50s, turns to the Moff, "The boy needs better acting lessons"

Kester, younger, in his mid 20s like the Moff, turns to respond, "and someone to release all that tension of his, perhaps..."

Baltzar stands from his seat, and walks towards the observation window. Outside, a thousand billion stars shine. He knew from the start this is the way things must be - war is the Imperial way. An ironic turn, nonetheless, that an Emperor who called for peace has guaranteed the war. What was a battle for position has become a war of ideals. It had become a time in which the names of men and woman would be inscribed forever on the record of history.

"It is as a I knew it would be - Thelstar has the ear of the Emperor, and they would wipe away a thousand years of tradition to strengthen their power. They couch greed in the language of loyalty, but greed is what it is."

Feneble stepped forward, "I have already prepared a transmission to the Moffs. Preparations are almost complete for the summit on Rendili". Kester stepped two steps forwards, to put himself ahead of Feneble, "fleet mobilization is already under way, we will be ready by the time the summit has begun".

Baltzar smiled.

By now I am sure we have all seen the Emperor's holo-transmission. Those of us who have had any time to consider it will also know what it means. In the space of a few minutes, the Emperor has declared an end to our autonomy, an end to our rights, and an end to our dignity. He has, illegally, presumed for himself supreme power of the Empire, and the ability to choose who is first among the Moffs. I cannot know whether he does this out of his own accord, or at the coercion of Thelstar and his dog Murali, but the consequences are undeniable regardless.

Since the Supreme Commander's health declined, I have seen that the rights of the Moffs were at risk. I could sense Thelstar seeking to ruin us in the name of his own traitorous lust for power. His dogs have attacked me from the beginning, for the crime of standing up for those dignified concerns my friends and allies brought before me. I led the efforts at a diplomatic solution, seeking just the desire to represent the free Moffs at the discussion table, but it's clear now that such efforts were in vain.

This is a cross-roads for us of the Moffdom. If nothing is done now, we just as well consign over our sons and daughters, burn our ancestors graves and ruin our names for all time. A summit will occur on Rendili extremely shortly. Those Moffs who value the great traditions of the Empire, the rights and dignities our ancestors fought for, the customs that make us civilized, will gather with me there shortly. Bring what forces you have.

I enjoyed your speech - you must have hired some of the Republics finest media operatives. You know as well as I do that the Emperor has not the power to appoint Supreme Commanders. By doing this, you are trampling on a thousand years of tradition and pissing on the freedom of the Moffs. We do not live in the era of Sidious, Imperator.

So, I give you three days to make your decision. Withdraw your illegal appointment of Thelstar, and declare neutrality. Perhaps there is still a chance for diplomacy. If you uphold this false proclamation, the Moffs of the Empire will be forced to act.

Despite my, intense dislike of the war, I too dislike how the Emperor has trampled on our traditions. Moving against Moff Rhysode but appointing Moff Thelstar to the position without a Mofference is well, unwelcome.

However, declaring a public summit at Rendili is dangerous if you plan to oppose the Emperor. I shall send one of my men to attend for me out of security concerns for myself. I shall remain on Kuat to guard my world in these up-coming days. I shall hear what you have to say, but I am most certainly with you.

Do understand I do not oppose the appointment of Thelstar completely, I just believe it should have been given out in a conference instead of the Emperor appointing it. Good day and may you survive these coming times.

GENERAL STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF SUPREME COMMANDER THELSTAR
DATED RECORDING: ONE STANDARD DAY AGO
COURTESY OF THE IMPERIAL PUBLIC BROADCASTING SYSTEM
<--x-->

(For the first few seconds, the holoscreen appears blank. Nothing sits in view of the holorecorder, other than a long, wooden table with nothing noticeable in the background save a comfortable-looking chair sitting at the center. Soon enough, the Imperial anthem plays its powerful notes, and a figure finally comes into view, only turning to face the camera when he reaches the chair.)

(It is Gurraso Thelstar. A lean but not overall skinny figure, his towering height has been known to intimidate more than a few persons who come into personal contact with the man. His face, while smooth, indicates his age to be nothing more than early thirties, nothing less than late twenties, in standard time at least. His hair, smooth and cultured, moves like the waves of a black sea. He wears his uniform, like always, with utmost attention paid to protocol, although unlike previous times, this uniform is a plastered white, the sign of a Supreme Commander.)

(Supreme Commander Thelstar places both of his hands in a dignified manner on the chair, and looks directly into the holorecorder.)

"Fellow citizens of the Empire, many, many standard years ago our forefathers, not to mention our foremothers, brought forth into this galaxy, a new nation, conceived in the principles of unity under a single banner, and dedicated to the proposition that order in the galaxy must be maintained.

Now we are soon to be engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. "

(Supreme Commander Thelstar removes his hands from the chair, after pulling it out from under the table, and begins settling himself in said chair. His lightsaber softly bounces against his belt as he does so.)

"However, this civil war and its unnecessary costs may yet be avoided, even as the darkness of an unpredictable future shambles closer and closer. The choice is simple. Duty to the Empire, or Disservice? Triumph of the Empire, or Treason against it? Loyalty to the Empire, or Loss of it? These are the decisions we must make, and I implore that you see they are not hard ones. "

(The Supreme Commander steeples his fingers, and lowers his head so that the angles of the lighting cast a dark shadow over his face, the whites of his eyes being the only thing clearly visible.)

"I assure you, I am not apt to use overt force to eliminate my enemies, but I am completely capable of doing so."

(Raising his head to directly face the holorecorder once again, which adjusts his face to return to a more normal lighting, he audibly sighs.)

"It is with the aforementioned warning that I issue the following decrees as my first: any forces who continue moving against the lawful authority of the Empire will be charged with high treason, a crime punishable by death. Furthermore, such criminals cannot retain their positions within Imperial ranks, and as is such, will be officially stripped of their ranks and other benefits that they had once formerly enjoyed."

(He discontinues his brief moment of emotional reveal, clears his throat, and continues with his scripted speech.)

"That is all for the moment. For the Empire. And may the Father bless us all."

(Supreme Commander Thelstar stands up, and walks out of sight of the holorecorder. A full two standard seconds pass before the holovid winks out, leaving nothing but darkness behind.)

FROM: Supreme Commander Thelstar

In my absence, I appoint Thylex Roscon as Moff of the Alsakan Subsector, as my loyal adviser and excellent worker has earned this position as I leave for the Imperial Center.

However, that is simply a bureaucratic notification that I have an obligation to inform you of. What I wish to speak to you, to all of you about, is concerning something far graver.

CONFIDENTIAL

As I am sure you all know, we are all teetering on the edge of war. War that threatens to instigate the downfall of the Empire and all it surveys, giving the hungry scavengers waiting at our heels to pounce on what remains, simply because no agreement was reached on the succession of the throne held by former Supreme Commander Brentioch.

This is not how an Empire such as our own should operate. While some of you may disagree with my placement at the right hand of the Emperor, or may not recognize my authority at all, we have an obligation, a duty to the Empire that will not be fulfilled should we begin squabbling before we can settle this diplomatically.

Therefore, I would like to offer this: as per the plans of the Emperor himself before this recent edict, I order you all to send at least one representative to the Imperial Center so that we might discuss this issue properly before beginning a war we cannot recant. There you will be able to reveal your concerns with the future of the Empire, and I, being your superior, will listen.

I give my word of honor to each and every one of you, no matter what allegiance, that no representative shall be captured or killed, at least by my orders, and implore each of you, friend or foe to myself, to follow this one command:

Choose calm over conflict.

TO: Moff Vall @Marix
FROM: Supreme Commander Thelstar

CONFIDENTIAL

Moff Vall of Rendilli. We have had our arguments and disagreements in the past, I cannot deny that, but that does not mean that the rift between us, between our sides, cannot be mended without the proper course of diplomacy.

It is with this message that I urge you to accept the offer to join us through a diplomatic representative at the Imperial Center, so that we may settle this, like true citizens of the Empire.

I understand you host anger against me, and it is not unnoticed. However, it is my intention to choose the Empire over meaningless political maneuvering, over the slaughter of millions, if not billions, for no other reason than the one that insinuates our failure to provide a diplomatic alternative.

TO: Your Majesty Emperor Marcus IV Pallipodes @Maugan Ra
FROM: Supreme Commander Thelstar

Greetings, my lord Emperor. I am in deep gratitude for your decision to place me on the throne my beloved uncle once held, and assure you that I will, to my fullest extent, carry out the duties such an office demands of me.

I can assume the full might of the Empire under the Emperor will support me in such duties?

CONFIDENTIAL

I am calling a meeting of all Moffs to the Imperial Center to attempt to resolve this crisis before it results in brutish conflict.

I have given them my word that no harm would come to them, should they choose to come in person, nor their representative, who may arrive in their place. Either way, I beseech that you do not break my given oath, as that would further discredit my authority in their eyes.

Worry not of me sympathizing with potential traitors, however: my bloodline has followed the true method of respect for the Emperor for hundreds of standard years.

I am forever in the service of you, m'lord Emperor, and the Empire, and I shall not forget what ancestral tradition has taught.

For the Empire, and all that it beholds.

TO: Moff Murali @Icarus
FROM: Supreme Commander Thelstar

CONFIDENTIAL

Your service in recent years has led to success: I now sit at the helm of one of the largest militaries in the galaxy.

You have but fulfilled a part of your service, however: this is only half of the battle for the control of the Empire, and it is now more important than ever that we must ensure everything goes according to the grand plan.

It is because of this, that I realize that Moffship is not the only position needed to be held by your person.

Moff Murali, would you like to accept the complete and total honor of being knighted into the First Order of the Preservation of the Empire? The occasion would be hosted onboard the SSD Imperatrix with other loyal officers and the like, where I will further reveal to you the details of this organization in private.

War is approaching, as you are no doubt aware of.

What can you offer me for the developing situation?

ACTIONS: @Sidheach
- Begin preparing for mobilization of the fleets and armies of both my allies' and my possession.
- Repair the two fleets sent to assist Moff Murali.
- Notify the tech teams that any force confirmed as traitors is to be switched to the "foe" callsign
- Find out who the Director of Intelligence is.

Moff Golgotha, unless the Emperor recants his proclomation, then we no longer have any choice but to oppose him. The Emperor has no right to "appoint" the Supreme Commander under any circumstances, "mofference" or no. He has torn up the ancient right of the Moffs to choose our own leader, castrating us for all time. The very point of a Mofference was so that we could come together to decide, not to kowtow to the boy Emperor.

I understand your desire to defend your own world, but the time for action is now. You must choose, Golgotha - submission and disgrace with Thelstar, or glory and dignity with your fellows. Are you a free Moff or a slave?

You order us to send diplomatic representatives? The irony is palpable. What I ask is the purpose of a conference now? So that the esteemed Moffs of the Empire can meekly rubber-stamp an illegal "appointment"? So that we can sign away the futures of our children? No Moff with even a modicum of respect for their title will fall to such depths. You will not see me or any other Moff worthy of the position at your "conference".

The war has already begun, Thelstar. You and your dog have started it.

Tusken-Hutt War and the Explorator Guild - Turn Two
Mod Report
The Southern War

Hrakkus' Armada

---
Between Andosha and Tatooine, the opinion of the Sand King and the Tuskens towards Hrakkus the Hutt was far from positive. Annoyed by the appearance of the Hutt, of the interloper, and believing the Hutts to be little more than gangsters, kleptocrats, and criminals to be swept aside with ease, Merkat and Socorro would gather their fleets at the Tatoo System, having made their way to there through Rodia, and prepare to strike at his position at Koiogra. Despite such assumptions, which were wildly out of date and little more than out of touch stereotypes currently being combated by the Nal Hutta Tourism Board in the "Make Credits, Not War" campaign, Hrakkus would soon prove himself to be anything but a pushover. Cast in the mold of his ancient forebears, who were renowned for setting fire to entire hyperspace routes in the name of conquest, Hrakkus the Hutt was warlike and possessed of a base cunning which, while a far cry from his sire's genius, suited the would-be conqueror well. Anticipating that the Tuskens would underestimate him due to the limited numbers dispatched to the Tatoo System in the previous year, or perhaps simply believing that the Tuskens would believe that age old stereotypes still held true, Hrakkus would entrench himself in the Koiogra System and await the Sand King's arrival.

At the Koiogra System, the arriving Socorran and Merkati fleets would arrive to find Hrakkus, or rather Hrakkus' lieutenant as he himself spent the battle on the planet hunting local game with Koiogra's ruler, and a substantial fleet that was, at the most conservative estimates, at parity with the Tusken fleets. Made up of professional soldiers in the employ of the Hutt Empire, mercenaries hired on by Hrakkus, and a number of fleets belonging to like-minded Hutts hoping to gain portions of Hrakkus' conquest for themselves, Hrakkus' Armada was far from a ramshackle organisation as the Tuskens would soon find out. Engaging the Hutts, the Tuskens would find themselves outmatched, either due to being outnumbered, as the Tuskens claim, or outwitted, as Hrakkus the Hutt proclaims to anyone who will listen, and forced to withdraw back to Tatooine with Hrakkus in close pursuit. Seizing upon a massive invasion of the Despotate of Merkat by the Mamlukate, which had sent some fourteen fleets into the Despotate, which prompted the Merkati fleets to withdraw ahead of Hrakkus' arrival, Hrakkus would attack Tatooine and seek to drive the Sand King out in anticipation of a more general invasion of Socorro. In this, Hrakkus the Hutt would be successful with the Socorrans being driven back, either towards friendly space or onto Tatooine itself, and the Tatoo System, though not the planet itself as of yet, falling under his control as a result.

In the Despotate of Merkat, as mentioned, the Mamlukate had commenced it's own military maneuvers, invading the Tusken State with an overwhelming force. With fleets comprised of clones, Geonosians, and Ganks, the Mamlukate would smash into the Despotate, sending in mercenaries to blow things up before then hitting Druckenwell and driving onto Merkat where the remnants of the Merkati Navy would put up a desperate defence. Said defence would not be enough, however, and being outnumbered roughly two to one, the Merkati would be forced onto the backfoot, essentially ceding the space above Merkat while trying to keep forces planet side supplied and reinforced while ships are raised elsewhere. At the same time, reports would filter in that Hrakkus the Hutt had continued to press on from Tatooine, securing the loyalty of Rodia which chose to throw in with Hrakkus, though only after the Tuskens repeatedly violated it's neutrality, and safe passage through the Lok Protectorate, and into Socorro. Currently, Hrakkus' particularly Hutt outlook on progress has meant that the Socorrans have been able to hold him back for the time being, as Hrakkus in no way feels pressured to go too quickly, but with Merkat falling and the Mamlukate seemingly on Hrakkus' side, prospects seem grim.

Meanwhile, on Nal Hutta, the response to news of Hrakkus' conquest have been received warmly by his brothers who are proving more and more willing to provide concrete backing to Hrakkus as his ability to actually conquer the south seems more and more realistic.

Summary

Merkat is attacked by the Mamlukate.

Hrakkus repulses Tusken attack and seizes Tatooine.

Tuskens on the backfoot.

Subject Eden

---
The Explorator Guild has recently seen a surge in activity following a successful recruitment campaign across the Galaxy. Receiving the patronage of several states, from Fondor to Centares to Cerea, the last of which would quietly contract the Guild to confirm fears regarding the Sanctuary Pipeline, and an influx of new recruits from across the Galaxy, the Guild's prospects have surely been bright. Although that alone is cause enough for celebration, the discovery of a vessel drifting idly in space during a routine run into the Deep Core would set the Guild aflutter after discovering a lone survivor, still in stasis, aboard the vessel. Dubbed Subject Eden, the survivor would be revealed to have been sent out from Byss approximately two hundred years ago in a sleeper ship in order to discover a route out of Byss and back onto the Byss Run or so the ship's records would suggest. Moreover, despite the downright alien appearance of Subject Eden, it would further be revealed that the survivor was indeed of human stock, in fact cross-referencing with Imperial records would later reveal that Subject Eden's genetics would share significant similarities with that of a Dak Eden, but with rather far reaching...alterations.

As far as the Explorator Guild can tell, Subject Eden is genderless, absent of any genetic defects of any kind that can be detected by modern science, really, really pale to the point where they lack any pigmentation of any kind, and can emit pheromones that the Guild's scientists believe may be used to compliment verbal communication. Blessedly, the Guild has not yet woken up Subject Eden, even though they really want to, and have currently contented themselves with not committing various cliched mistakes often committed in horror movies that usually wind up with nearly everyone dying.

Yet.

Summary

The Guild is doing well for itself.

The Guild has also found a Space Jockey an Eden from Byss.

It has come to our attention that Moff Xero Murali has chosen to devote his time to spreading calumnies about his peers and their relations, behavior we find most unbecoming in one who has been invested with such trust by our beloved Emperor and his Supreme Commander.

We personally have been named in Murali's fabrications..we cannot bring ourselves to recount the details of the aforementioned falsehoods, that such slander should be bandied about before the Committee once is a disgrace, to repeat it ourselves would be more than we could bear.

We therefore petition our Emperor and his Supreme Commander to condemn this appalling breach of decorum, and request that Murali be made to issue both a retraction and an apology to ourselves and to the others whose reputations he has maligned.

Unless the Emperor and his Supreme Commander wish to condone such barbarous behavior from one they have elevated to such exalted heights.

Countess,

Literally what are you talking about

This is Holobook vagueposting applied to what may be the bloodiest civil war in a hundred generations

And you just hit 'reply all' to every state official of importance

Just think once before you speak please

Your grandmother is likely concerned for your well being.

Ma'am, I hate to do this but we've been getting angry calls all week concerning a Holomail chain about uh

well

It's your granddaughter. We don't know if you've been in recent contact with her or if you're aware of this but it's been an additional headache on top of all this civil war nonsense.

It might just be something another Moff put her up to as a joke, or something she read on one of those fringe news blogs but if you could let her down gently in private... It would just make my job a lot easier.

Sorry to bother you its just uh, we figured you might want to know since this could affect your family's reputation etc. etc. You know how it is.

Thelstar's paramour was able to find the time to open his fool mouth and insult my granddaughter and Moff Fellswoop-Lars, he can certainly pry himself away from stanging our glorious Supreme Commander long enough to deal with the results of his actions.

Now if you will excuse me, I have an Oversector to subjugate.

Republic Soldiers

In the ongoing grind that is the Free Droid State, the Second Galactic Republic has continued to press onward, seizing system after system as it seeks to finally put an end to the rogue, omnicidal droid state that continues to resist efforts to pound it into oblivion. With it's fleets destroyed, however, much of the Free Droid State's resistance has revolved around bogging the Republic down in fighting on the sprawling factory worlds that dot the State while desperately attempting to keep the planetary shield generators up for as long as possible. Nevertheless, with numerical superiority and freedom of movement, the Republic has had a relatively easy time of it, systematically attacking and then destroying planet after planet, literally so with Starfleet devoting time to pounding away at planets until they break, before finally reaching Lipsec. As the capital of the Free Droid State, Lipsec has so far managed to avoid the fate of all preceding worlds with the fortress world proving an utter nightmare to attack with planetary shield generators being located in heavily fortified installations, the largest of which sprawls across a continent, vast tunnel systems crisscrossing the planet, and the number of defenders reaching into the billions. Despite this, the Republic remains confident that Lipsec will fall soon enough and propaganda efforts have ensured that the public remains supportive of the conflict.

A Rouge Sith

The Sith-Skywalker War has reached it's zenith with the entrance of the Alliance of Free Systems entering the war against the Skywalker Clans, dispatching several fleets to Cadomai where, after a brief skirmish, the Alliance would seize the world and fold it into it's domain. Assailed on two fronts, the Skywalkers have themselves crumbled, ultimately proving unable to resist with no aid coming their way, and have since scattered as the Sith bear down on Bonadan, where they would find the shipyards in ruins and in need of repairs that will take years, if not decades, to complete, and seize Etti IV. As they are want to do, the Skywalkers have held off on any sort of heroic last stand or a final stab at fate with the King and his Lady scattering their remaining forces and scattering, the former resurfacing at Ord Trasi the following year while the latter would fall back into old habits and be caught plotting galactic annihilation, leaving the Sith with little to show for their efforts but ashes and ruins. More worrying for the Sith and for the Alliance, however, is that their war of aggression has raised the ire of nearby systems with Serenno, currently ruled by Count Adan III Dooku, using the twin threats of the Alliance and the Mandalorians to lure in surrounding systems into a defensive alliance.

Skywalker Space falls.

Alliance takes Cadomai, Sith seize the rest.

The Fondori-Atrisian War

Aku's Mutants

---
Believing themselves to be able to get away with a quick war against the Atrisian Commonwealth, the Empire of Fondor has attacked Atrisia and begun to push into it's territory. For the time being, the conflict has been a fairly slow one, characterised by methodical pushes, with Fondor reaching as far as Omar by the year's end, and...monsters. As befits the Emperor Aku, Atrisia has fielded a wide variety of mutants and so-called Sithspawn, including the infamous terentateks, which have been used as terror weapons and for killing force-sensitives, a task the monsters have proven especially effective at. Although limited in number, the reputation associated with these monsters is so great that Fondor has found it's force-sensitives refusing to go out unprotected and often attempting to transfer away from the conflict for fear of being eaten alive by creatures made to kill them. At the same time, news of the war against Atrisia has lured in a lone figure who has been seen observing the fighting and defending innocent civilians against both Aku and Fondor before riding off into the sunset.

Summary

Fondor invades Atrisia.

@Sidheach

The Alliance comes in peace. We want the people to know that we would never integrate a system into the Alliance without the will of the people. We propose that a referendum be made by the Cadomai people, to see if they would like to join the Alliance of Free Systems. The Alliance is after all, a Democracy.

The Cadomia would enjoy protection from the Alliance Military, as well as a great deal of booms that would be appealing to the Cadomai people.

From: The Alliance

We wish to offer the service of the Telosian shipyard for your ship based needs. At a lower price than what would be found by the Skywalkers. We do not wish to take advantage of this, like they did. We offer far more reasonable prices than the arms and limbs the Skywalkers asked for. Though preference would be had for Alliance members, as well as lesser prices for associates.

Anzat and Turn Three Begins

Anzat

Feral Anzati

---
Concerned by the loss of several scout ships, the Centares Concord has dispatched military forces to Anzat to figure out precisely what it was that was going on the small, oft-forgotten world. Above Anzat, Centares' ships would discover several small stations in orbit around the world, evidence that ships had come and gone in the past, and little else of note which would prompt the Admiral in charge of the expedition to dispatch forces in order to investigate the planet's surface. Initially these forces would discover nothing but abandoned settlements and age old ruins, signs that the planet had been inhabited once, but certainly now civilised, sentient life in sight...at least at first. Soon, however, reports would flood in of individual teams being assaulted by feral Anzati, or so it was assumed as the the deformed creatures certainly displayed the same...predilection towards drinking brains as normal Anzati, before promptly falling silent.

At this point, the Centares' would be approached by a team of Jedi Knights from New Alderaan who would, after meeting with the Admiral, explain that they had tracked a rogue Crimson Sith to Anzat and that they had it on good information that he was still present on the planet's surface. Seeing no reason to stop the Jedi from going to the planet's surface and getting themselves killed, the Admiral would allow the Jedi through, permitting them to link up with surviving away teams and go on the hunt for Ruby Wrath who, it would be discovered, had ensconced himself in an age old temple and was cheerfully turning his fellow Anzati feral. Rather than allow himself to be killed, or even worse, captured, Ruby Wrath would stick around only to deliver a grandiose speech about how he lamented his inability to watch the Jedi die, divulge his plans to start a galactic war the likes of which no one had ever seen since the Neo-Clone Wars, and leave one of his less-bright apprentices to oversee the death of the Jedi as a horde of feral Anzati closed in on them.

Having clearly known nothing of Pizztov Senior, however, Ruby Wrath's plan would fail, the Jedi would escape after trapping his apprentice in with the feral Anzati, and resume the hunt, this time heading towards the Deep Core. Meanwhile the Centares Accord has sort of...written Anzat off, establishing a cordon around the world but otherwise consigning it to the list of planets no one will ever want to live on because holy shit, they're basically vampbies or something.

Summary

Anzat is whack.

The spirit of Pizztov Senior lives on.

The CEO of Gyndine Corp, Jaylen Tod.
Pay no attention to the similarities between him and some of the Galaxy's historically more notorious dark-side practitioners.
---
Gyndine. A world lush in mountains, forests, oceans, lakes plains, cities, suburbs, and farms (and an incredible planetary defense system complete with a powerful shield and a naval presence larger than most fleets guarding it and it's expensive orbital shipyards). The planet, known as the "Naboo of the Expansion Region" is a bountiful world of some 15 billion inhabitants. However, the planet's landscape is not what makes Gyndine so well known. Gyndine is a well-developed land but hardly the most populous or important...save for one key factor: it's ability to amass incredible amounts of wealth. Over the past millenia, Gyndine has wisely chosen to remain outside of the mess that has become of Galatic politics and instead tread down a more lucrative path than most others, trade and starship construction.

Gyndine is luckily situated at the crossroads of three major hyperspace routes, making it a key player in inter-Galactic trade and a major waystation for any ship wishing to travel from the Core Worlds to the Mid and Outer Rim. To augment its unique strategic location, Gyndine also specializes in starship construction, and has a long history doing so. Under the leadership of the Gyndine Corporation, which owns and operates the Gyndine Orbital Shipyards (commonly refereed to as the GOS), Gyndine has maintained a reputation of neutrality and quality, repairing and providing starships for anyone with the credits to purchase them, a decision that has made them wealthy beyond the imaginations of most. With ties to the Empire, Tuskens, Hutts, and more besides, Gyndine's position in the Galaxy remains a safe one, guaranteed by the fact that no one wishes for the GOS to fall into the hands of a foe, a fact that ensures no one tries to conquer it, something which the CEO of Gyndine Corp, Jaylen Tod, always makes sure to remind his colleagues at meetings of the Board of Directors.

Despite not being a native of the largely human-populated world, Jaylen Tod managed to climb the ladder of Gyndine's corporatist-dominated society (from absolutely obscure and largely unknown beginnings according to most), to rule a commercial empire that few in the Galaxy can match. Under Tod's watchful eye, Gyndine Corp and the system as a whole have experience an era of incredible prosperity and technological innovation. Gyndine boasts some of the highest-quality starships in the Galaxy, with the expression "as good as Gyndine" being commonplace in the surrounding systems. As cunning as he is charming, Tod has finalized the long-running transformation of Gyndine into a truly corpratist system, with the Chief Operating Officer of the Gyndine Corporation not only serving as the head of the Expansion Region's largest company, but also the head of state of the system itself. Indeed, the Gyndine System and the Gyndine Corp have become one and the same thanks to several centuries of favorable economic conditions coupled with shred power plays.

This leads one to beg the question: How does Gyndine operate internally? Well, much like any business would...

To: The Emperor
From: Moff Baltzar Vall

To: Moff Baltzar Vall
From: Emperor Marcus IV

That is an interesting offer, Moff Vall, but we both know it is not one that I can reasonably take. To endorse and then retract my support for a candidate in such quick succession, without any change in external circumstances, before the eyes of every authority in the Empire? The damage such a thing would inflict on already unstable institutions would be beyond measure.

Still, you speak of a desire for diplomatic solutions, and we are not as yet formally engaged in hostilities. Thus, let us speak as once we did, Emperor and Moff. I would value your counsel.

My original intent had been merely to lend sufficient force to Moff Murali that Moff Rhysode's ill-considered ambitions would be swiftly crushed. The Executor would be reclaimed, Contessa Rhysode would be placed under my protection as a Guest of Honour, and the first sparks of an outright war would be stamped out before they could spread. I would then go before the Moffs, explain my actions and repeat my request for a conference upon Imperial Centre, much like the one that you yourself initially championed.

I should like to think that, had events played out as they were intended to, that even you might have approved of my actions.

Alas, fate intervened, and while the engagement could still be considered a technical success, it utterly failed to achieve my goals. A move to stamp out the flames of war instead wound up fanning them ever higher, and in the immediate aftermath every analyst at my disposal agreed on one thing - that lines were being drawn and that any hope of a truly peaceful resolution was dead and gone.

If war is inevitable, then in my eyes it is better that it be ended as swiftly and decisively as possible. If that means violating ancient tradition and getting my own hands dirty, perhaps even risking my own life and station in the process, then so be it. I would prefer a less ugly solution, and if you can present me with a way to resolve this whole issue without such extreme measures I would take it in a heartbeat... but unless I am gravely mistaken, circumstances beyond the control of even an Emperor have rendered such a thing impossible.

Do you disagree, Moff Vall?

To: Supreme Commander Thelstar
From: Emperor Marcus IV Pallipodes

I would hardly appoint a Supreme Commander and then fail to provide all the support and authority that such a post represents. Nor would I gainsay your sworn word so lightly - you offer freedom of movement in the interests of diplomacy? It shall be respected.

To: Moff Golgotha of Kuat @Deathwing
From: Emperor Marcus IV Pallipodes

Greetings to you, Moff Golgotha. In the interests of diplomacy, I shall dispense with prevarications - we both know that I am contacting you to determine Kuat's position during the conflict to come. We could dance around the topic for weeks with ease, but since we are both busy men, I should think it better to resolve this swiftly.

It is my desire that Kuat adopt a position of neutrality in this matter. As Emperor I am bound to think, not merely in terms of political factions or immediate concerns, but of the long term interests of the Empire as a whole, and from that perspective Kuat is simply too important to risk. Your shipyards and industrial facilities form the backbone of the Empire's infrastructure, and declaring openly for either side in the conflict would by necessity make those same facilities an immensely important strategic target. Neither side could expect to emerge victorious with your industrial might thrown behind the other, and so would feel compelled to mount attacks of significant size against you as quickly as the necessary force might be mustered. Even the most positive outcome of such an occurrence could easily be named a disaster, and I would seek to avoid such a thing at almost all costs.

Remain neutral, and be the bedrock upon which the Imperial economy might safely rest. Stand apart from the conflict, and let your fleets stand ready as a potent reserve, to thwart the aims of any external foes that might seek to exploit this issue for their own ends. Continue to serve with the skill and dedication that your family has shown for uncounted centuries, and in the aftermath help the victorious faction repair the battle scars with as much speed and efficiency as possible.

Such is my desire... but I am not Moff of Kuat, and despite certain hysterical claims to the contrary I have no desire to trample on your rights or spit on your family's legacy. I therefore request only that you respond with your own desires for the time to come, that we might hopefully come to an accommodation.

My desire to remain neutral is well known by many.

If you can convince my fellow Moffs, even the Moffs like Moff Rhysode to stay away from my territory like the jackals some of them are. I would love to remain neutral as this conflict is bad for business. Imperial Warmachines should be slaying outside foes and not that of my fellow Imperials.

My respect to you my Emperor, as the Darkness comes to claim an Empire once again.

@Sidheach, any opportunity to buy land, invest in businesses, and acquire agricultural industries located on the planet will be undertaken by Gyndine.
