Actually, watching some Stardust Crusaders was a good move. I've got a much better grasp of the feel of the JoJo setting now, especially with Diamond is Unbreakable helping me out with Stand design and stuff. But anyways, on with the show!
[X] A woman who changed her fate!
Really, you want to help Jirou. But, you have to get back to your family first…
"…I'm sorry, Mr.Jirou. I really want to help, but my family should come first…" you say, smiling apologetically.
Jirou frowns, rubbing his chin. "Well, I can't really blame you for wanting to take care of your family…tell you what, I think I can come up with a compromise."
You tilt your head, eyeing him curiously. "What do you mean?"
Jirou settles back into a lecturing position. "The Speedwagon Foundation would benefit the most if you could just accompany me on my trip back to headquarters, but you want to go to Teppelin, which is in the opposite direction. Obviously, we have a problem here. But, as I said earlier, there are multiple field researchers looking for Stand Users to help us test our new weapons. If you can't travel with me, you can still find Stand Users and bring them to our field agents!"
You blink in surprise. "But, how will I find these field agents? I don't know who they are…"
Jirou grins. "I can ask to use the town radio. It's probably old as hell and damn near broken, but if I offer to repair it I can get use for free. I'll radio some of my colleagues, give them your name and description. You look pretty distinctive, so they should recognize you on sight."
You frown a bit. "But, my Stand can only find things. In addition, Shooting Star is refusing to find certain items…."
Jirou frowns. "Really? Like what?"
You tap your chin thoughtfully. "Well, while I was in the wasteland and starving, I thought back to my old picture books. The first thing I asked Shooting Star for was if she could find a nice bear, to get some honey…"
"B-bear…?"
You nod firmly. "Yes, I remember it clearly. I was starving at the time. I kept asking for different animals and plants."
Jirou hesitantly asks the obvious question. "Uh, what kinds?"
"Well, snakes, coyotes, a few types of bird, barrel cacti, datura, and a lovely plant whose name I vaguely recalled to be silverleaf nightshade….um, Mr.Jirou, are you okay?"
Jirou seems to have begun smacking his face with every word you say. "Don't mind me. This is starting to sound like a terrible idea, but at least it sounds like your Stand has a sense of self-preservation. Besides, you were probably delirious from hunger…I think. Anyways, it sounds like your Stand won't lead you to danger, which is a little odd for Stands—they tend to not care much about how their users utilize their powers, so long as they remain alive. Still, this is a bit of a good thing, since it means you can avoid dangerous Stands."
You nod. "But that still leaves the problem of having to take detours…"
Jirou shrugs helplessly. "You're not going to be able to head straight for Teppelin, anyways; there are very specific ways for humans to gain entry, and just trying to barge in like you own the place will get you killed by the guards in a heartbeat. You'll need supplies, papers, contacts…I can help with that, but I'll need your help in return. All I ask is that you take the time to find friendly Stand Users, and offer them work and safety in exchange for helping the Speedwagon Foundation."
You grimace. "…Alright. I'll help out, then. Where do I go first?"
Jirou grins widely. "Excellent! We can talk about your travel plans at the inn, I still have a room booked. I need to make a few calls, so you can take my room while I go fix the radio, after we finish planning your trip, of course."
________________________________________________
The walk to the inn is rather uneventful, all things considered. Jirou points out some of the more interesting places in town ("There's Old Man Harlow's workshop. He does most of the design for this place, which should tell you all you need to know about how good he is.") and some of the more dangerous things in Wilpur ("Those flowers are poisonous, Nia."). Aside from that, you aren't bothered, and Jirou mostly keeps quiet, occasionally humming a simple tune.
When you reach the inn, you and Jirou sit down at a table, Jirou ordering some water for the two of you as you begin to eat the remaining half of your bread. Jirou spreads out a map on the table, catching your attention.
"Alright, so, there are a number of major cities in the area, along with several small settlements and frontier towns. The problem is, these towns are often destroyed and built with depressing regularity. The settlement Wysteria is famed for being destroyed on the same day it was built, and the name has negative connotations associated with it to this day. But let's focus on the important stuff."
He points to a small settlement marked on the map. "This right here is Riga, and it is the biggest smuggling town you will ever find. Riga is home to a massive amount of trade, and even the vampires sometimes do business with it. You can find almost anything here, and you'd be able to find someone to forge you some papers easy. We at the Foundation theorize that Stands appear in moments of great turmoil, but there is no evidence for the theory yet, so taking a trip to Riga could provide some valuable information as well."
His finger moves away from Riga, and towards another settlement, slightly farther away from Wilpur.
"This town is called Neb. It's a lot safer and cleaner than Riga, and you could take some time to find work or information here. Neb is apparently dealing with some internal problems, though, so you could find some trouble."
He looks up at you, expression neutral. "It takes a week to get to Riga from here on foot, a week and a half for Neb. There are other options for places to go, but with the amount of money I have on hand best I can do is get you around ten days' supplies, and these two are the best options to go for someone looking to enter the capital. The final decision is up to you, though."
You think for a moment, before deciding on:
[X] Riga, the trade town.
[X] Neb, the town facing a mysterious set of problems.
How do you spend the rest of the day? (Choose 2, each store counts as an option)
[X] Talk with Jirou while he fixes the radio.
-[X] What about?
[X] Experiment with Shooting Star's abilities.
-[X] Any ideas?
[X] Jirou has given you a small amount of money.
-[X] Visit the clothes shop and get something a little less red.
-[X] Weapons? Weapons.
-[X] Maybe the general store has some decent finds…
[X] Go visit Roland, and chat with him.
-[X] What about?
[X] Visit Sumiya and thank her for her generosity.
*looks at option to experiment with Shooting Star*
IT BEGINS!
