Spiral Overdrive (JoJo/TTGL)

KHV is mostly dead at this point, because there is no way I'm going back to it until I get back to a decent pace with LO and SO. My third slot seems oddly cursed for some reason. Might just write that silly SAO/Skyrim fic idea that's been kicking around my head for a while instead, once I get past my writer's block.
NOoOoOOoOoOoOooo

[X] Neb.

"I've decided on Neb."

Jirou studies you for a moment, before nodding. "Alright. I won't question your decision. Now then, I've picked up some supplies for you, and added in some more money in case you decided you needed something I didn't think of."

Items Received!: Sleeping Bag, , Food (Simple) x10, Rucksack, 25 Argento.

Total: 50 Ar. (5000 Ra., 5 Or.)

You stuff the food and most of the cooking tools into your pack, but frown at the bulkier pot and sleeping bag.

"Mr.Jirou, I don't think all of this will fit into my bag. And I'll need water as well, I think."

Jirou nods. "Don't worry about that. I've got a mule who carries my stuff for me, you can have him. I usually travel light, so he ends up just being a bother anyways. He's already got your water with him."

Items Stored!: Water Tank (Two Weeks), Feed (Two Weeks).

You smile in gratitude. "I'll be sure to take care of him, Mr.Jirou."

Jirou waves you off. "Don't worry about it, as long as he's not dead he'll keep doing his job. If you decide you want to move on without him or replace him, you could probably find someone willing to take him in at Neb. Beasts of burden are always welcome, or so I hear. Just don't try riding him, you might make him spill all your water."

You nod, yawning a bit. Jirou sees through your attempt to mask it easily.

"Well, it is getting late. We're off to a good start, what with Malcolm and Hester being Stand Users and all. Once you get to Neb, see if you can find any cooperative Stand Users. Afterwards, go to this area-" he points to a settlement on the map-" to find a field agent who'll take them off your hands, and give you your payment. They'll message me, and if you're done with Neb, they can help you figure out where to go next. Don't rush; this station is pretty static, since it's just studying the wildlife in the area…"

Jirou goes over the route to Neb with you a bit more, but eventually the two of you turn in for the night.

The Next Morning

You yawn as you descend down the steps from your room, waving at Jirou when you spot him. He gives you a nod as you sit down, pushing a bowl of some kind of porridge at you.

"Dig in, breakfast is important."

You give him a dutiful nod as you begin to eat. Jirou stays quiet, having finished his own meal already. The porridge is a little bland, but filling. As you finish, Jirou speaks up.

"We've got some time. If you need to wrap up any last-minute business, now's the time."

You wipe your mouth, and respond.

[X] Say your goodbyes to everyone.

"I'd like to say goodbye to the people I've met here. And I think I'd like to visit a store before leaving, too."

Jirou nods. "Okay. You've got a few hours, so I'll meet you by the road leading out of town."

You nod firmly, getting up to go visit the people you've met in Wilpur…

"Wait. Where was the road again?"

A Few Minutes Later

After Jirou pointed out that you could just use Shooting Star to find your way around, you abused this immediately by figuring out where Hester was. As it turns out, he seems to be…

BANG!

…preoccupied.

He glares at a sheet of scrap metal across from him, lowering his gun as a bronze hand jams bullets into it. As soon as the last bullet is loaded, Hester is back to firing, the bullets each thudding into the sheet with barely a second's pause between them. As Hester finishes and begins to load again, you interrupt.

"Good morning, Hester!"

He turns to you, tipping his hat in greeting. "Mornin', Nia. What brings you here?"

You smile. "I just thought I'd swing around to say my goodbyes before leaving. It was nice meeting you, and I'm sure we'll see each other again."

Hester gives you an amused grin. "I hope not. Whatever brings you to this cesspool probably won't be good news. Still, I appreciate the sentiment. Bye, Nia. I'll pass on your farewell to Malcolm, too; he'll get a kick out of that, I'm sure."

You laugh nervously. "Well, it was good seeing you. Ah, that's right! Mr.Jirou will be coming by to speak with Mr.Malcolm today as well, just so you know."

Hester nods, already turning back to his practice. "Yeah, I'll be ready for him. See you around, Nia."

…Well, you shouldn't bother him any longer.

Onward, to Sumiya

You push open the door to the saloon, absentmindedly dodging a man who tries to grab you by the shoulder as you follow the golden trail in front of you. You call out a greeting as you spot Sumiya polishing a glass at the counter.

"Good morning, Ms.Sumiya!"

Sumiya glances up at you, and smiles. "Good morning, Nia. You're heading out today, right? Good luck."

You nod happily. "Thank you. I'll probably need it, but it feels good to make some progress."

Sumiya nods in understanding. "Oh, wait, I'll give you a treat for the road."

She kneels beneath the counter, and pulls out a jar. Lifting the top, she takes out a strange brown square, and holds it out for you. You take it, studying it curiously.

"What is this?"

Sumiya gives you an odd look. "It's chocolate. Y'know, candy."

You blink, but shrug and take a bite, savoring the taste. It's sweet and rich, and just a little bitter. You chew it thoughtfully, spreading it around your mouth.

"Strange. We don't have any of this back home. It's good, though; I wonder if my siblings would like it…"

Sumiya gives you a wry look. "I kinda expected a bigger reaction, since you've never tried it. You seem like the kind of girl who likes sweets."

You shake your head with a smile. "No, I'm not picky. We ate a lot of different things back home, but sweets weren't very common. They're tasty, but not very filling."

Sumiya nods in agreement. "Mmm, I get what you mean. Well, they're bad for you if you eat too much anyways, so it's probably for the best. Goodbye, Nia, and again, good luck on your trip."

You nod gratefully. "Goodbye, Ms.Sumiya. Thank you for all you've done while I'm here."

With that, you depart.

Onward, to Roland

You stand in front of a familiar rocking chair, and greet Roland.

"Good morning, Mr.Roland!"

Roland lifts his head, and cracks a smile at you. "Morning, Nia. Looks like you're ready to get going."

You nod. "Yes. It'll probably be a long trip back home, but I'm sure I can make it."

"Well, best wishes, Nia. But talk is cheap, and I believe I might've mentioned somethin' about a gift for you, last time you were here." He says with a wink.

You raise a hand to stop him as he rises out of his chair. "Ah, that's alright, Mr.Roland, I don't really need-"

He dismisses your protests. "Yes you do. And if you really don't, then you can sell it in Neb for a decent profit. Now pipe down while I go get it."

With that, he goes inside his home to look for whatever he's giving you. You fidget a bit uncomfortably until Roland pops back out, looking triumphant. He hands you…clothes?

"These are some old bits of gear my Ma used for riding, in a better time. They should fit you okay. They're good leather, so they'll hold up under some punishment, and the hat should keep the sun out of your eyes."

You nod slowly, pulling the fingerless gloves on and replacing your worn sandals (at this point, little more than bits of leather tied to your foot, really) with the well-made boots. As you get up, Roland places the hat on your head, stepping back to study you.

"…You need a new cloak. But the pink hat seems to suit you, even if it is a little dusty. Yep, I made the right call." He says, nodding in satisfaction.

You peer up at him from beneath your hat. "Um, are you sure of this, Mr.Roland? If these belonged to your mother…"

He waves off your concerns. "Nah, don't worry about it. I'm never gonna sell them, and Ma would have wanted them to be put to use, not just left scattered around. If you do end up selling them, make sure they go to a good owner, y'hear?"

You nod firmly. "I will. Thank you very much, Mr.Roland."

He gives you a grin. "Any time, Nia. Good luck on your trip, and stay safe."

You nod. "I'm going to visit the shops before I leave. Goodbye, Mr.Roland. 'Till we meet again."

With that, the two of you part ways.

Items Received: Riding Gloves, Riding Boots, Pink Hat.

Now that your farewells have been said, it is time to visit the shops, and then to set off for Neb!

Which store will you visit?

[X] General Goods.

[X] Tailor.

[X] Blacksmith.

[X] Gunsmith.

[X] On second thought, you're probably fine. You shouldn't waste time, just go to Neb already.

IT IS DONE. Next up, Dio, mules, the wild wasteland, and a long walk.

Never buy gear from town shops, you can find the same or better stuff from drops and chests. :V
