And so it was with great trepidation that the leader of a nation would be meeting a high ranking member of the opposing side. As Ryoma stared once more out of the General's armor (he had decided to keep himself disguised in order not to alert the Prince to his presence), he stood by Scarlet as the hidden door behind the bookshelf opened, admitting a hooded figure alongside two others, along with six guards, two for each unknown. As the hidden door closed, Scarlet addressed the three newcomers. "I take it you are the people we are supposed to be meeting today?" They nodded in agreement. "Then answer me this: What separates the Nobles of Cheve from the Common People?"
One of the three, with a dirtiness to his voice like Ryoma couldn't believe, said, "You mean besides the incest? Or were you talking about them having more gold than brains or balls?" At that, Scarlet and the Guards laughed, before she replied.
"Yep, it's you guys. Guards, see yourselves out, Randall and I can take care of these chumps if need be." Grumbling about how they needed to be there to be doing their duty, the guards nonetheless did so. Ryoma still did not appreciate his new "code name", but since he hadn't actually come up with one himself, Scarlet had decided one for him. Still, he watched carefully as the hooded figures took off their cloaks. The one on the left had an eyepatch over one eye, he was the one who had answered the poor excuse for a "riddle". The one on the right had a yellow headband around his forehead, and a goofy grin on his face, though there was a sharpness to his gaze which his one-eyed companion. Finally, the one in the center...
"So, you're the famed Prince Leo, child of the Great King Garon yadda yadda yadda. I must admit, you're shorter than I thought." At that, the one in the middle bristled, while both of his companions chuckled. Blushing at the embarrassment, he tried to think of a retort.
"And I must admit, I wasn't expecting a woman." Now the room fell silent. Ryoma's eyes widened. Would Scarlet take that as an ins- He was cut by the sound of Scarlet guffawing.
"Yeah, no one expects the Female Resistance. Anyway, I just wanted to ask you a few things before we get started, L." More bristling occurred at the shortening of his name, "First, why go to the trouble of signing a Road contract to ensure you help us? You could have just promised support to us without having to go to those lengths."
He shrugged. "I could have. The problem is, of course, is that you wouldn't trust me as far as you could throw me. So, I weighed the risks and decided that the possibility of breaking a magical contract was outweighed by my lack of getting an 'in' to this whole organization."
This is when Randall finally spoke up, deepening his voice to hopefully mask his accent. It was a good thing that Yukimura had taken the time all those years before to teach him about Voice impersonations, as inane such an activity normally was. "So, you do have your own goals with this alliance?"
The one with the headband gulped for some reason, while the others seemed to not have figured him out. Leo answered with a smirk on his face: "Of course? Did you really think one so experienced with matters as politics such as I would bother with such things as altruism? This alliance benefits me just as it benefits you." Scarlet was of course ready to pounce on that.
Scarlet: Discovery Roll: 14
"And how exactly would this alliance benefit you? What we're going to be doing by the end of the day is getting rid of some nobles and declaring independence from Nohr. Why would you ever want something like that?"
Leo: Smugness Roll: 5 (Huh...)
The Prince just sighed. "Review what you just said, than you'll find your answer."
Randall: Discovery Roll: 63
His trained mind leaped to the answer. "'Get rid of some nobles...' You're using the revolution in the hopes that it will get rid of some political rivals." The eyepatched one interjected into the conversation.
"Well, not Prince Leo's enemies, but yes, that is part of our goals here." With that, he looked towards the only member of the group who hadn't spoken yet.
Odin: Explanation Roll: 13-10=3
Niles: Explanation Roll: 26
Leo: Explanation Roll: 26 (Yet another 1/10000 chance...)
Reroll: Leo Explanation Roll: 100 (Because of course!)
Leo: Natural Critical Success Rolled, roll to acquire upgraded trait: 51, upgraded trait acquired!
Trait: I am a FONT OF EXPOSITION! Lv. 2 (Intelligence): +15 to all rolls to explain something!
The head-banded one shook his head, and after the two kept exchanging head shakes Prince Leo finally yelled out: "ENOUGH!" And with that, the two of them stopped. With that done, he began to explain in full.
"Some time ago my retainer Odin," He gestured to the one with the headband, "Came to me with a startling, unbelievable claim. He claimed that he had discovered traces of necromantic spells around the throne room. I, of course, did not believe him, as I had no doubt that Father didn't have the necessary expertise in the Necromancy Branch of Dark Magic to try something like that, and Iago, my father's retainer and an extremely talented Sorceror, of course had his own workshop to try his hand at the craft. When I decided to humor him by casting some detection spells around the throne room in the middle of the night, I was astonished to discover he was not only correct in his claim, but that the greatest concentration of said spells was around the throne itself! Fearing the worst, I researched an enchantment which allowed one to view whether something was undead. It's an enchantment generally used by the teachers at Nohr's Schools of Magic, just in case someone's Necromancy Project got loose."
At that point, the two others, who Randall had long realized were his retainers, giggled at something. Leo simply glared back at them. "Yes, the glasses I enchanted with the spell were goofy, but they served their purpose. When I saw Father while wearing the glasses, I was able to see his true nature." At that, he shuddered involuntarily. "I will not say what he looked like, just that I lost my lunch an hour later when I was in the privacy of my own room. The glasses did indeed confirm that Father was undead, and under an extremely detailed control spell at that. If I wasn't so horrified by the corpse pretending to be my father commanding my siblings and I, I would have appreciated the talent of the man who created the spells."
"Wait," interjected Scarlet, "Are you really saying that Old Man Garon is a corpse?!" She nearly screeched the last part out, the only thing keeping her from yelling was the presence of the guards in the room out of the door. Leo laughed in a morbid tone of voice.
"Oh yes, my father is long dead, those spells I mentioned are years old. I could barely comprehend such a thing..." And that is when his face became a visage of pure rage. He growled out the next part like a wild animal, "BEFORE I REMEMBERED WHO MY FATHER'S RETAINER WAS."
Randall caught on immediately. "You think that your Father's Retainer has been playing him like a puppet in order to rule from behind the throne."
The Prince nodded. "Indeed. It would be but a simple matter for a Sorcerer of Iago's talent and sheer scumminess to pull off. In addition, he has a gilded tongue which has entranced most of the nobility to his support... Such as the nobles of Cheve." And with that, Ran- no, Ryoma understood everything.
"You believe he will be making a true play for the throne once the lie he has constructed with Garon's Moving Corpse has outlived it's usefulness, using the nobility to support him to make up for the fact he's not of the Royal Lineage."
"Indeed. Almost all of the Nobility have been cowed by my Father, and have been angered by him denying them any of their propo-" At that, he stopped, before placing his face in his palm. "Of course... Iago's been playing a 'Good Jailer, Bad Jailer' routine by himself, that's how he was able to get so many on his side." He continued his explanation after this revelation. "By denying any and all of their proposals, he's made quite a number of enemies. By extension, this enmity extends to my Older Brother, the Crown Prince, since he reminds many of my father in his younger years. If those nobles on Iago's side were to be eliminated by, say, a rebel force, not only would that drastically reduce Iago's political powerbase, it would also not raise any suspicions. After all, there truly is a revolution going on here, nobody would bat an eye if the rebels were to mysteriously acquire weapons of excellent quality to make their stand with, now would they?"
Scarlet sighed, fully comprehending the situation now. "So that's what we are to you. A way to secure your brother's, or even your own, path to the throne by having us slay your competitors." Leo scoffed at that abridgment.
"I'm not planning on taking the throne anytime soon, Xander can have it for all I care, he's far more suited to it. I would rather assist his reign than try to propagate my own. In any case, yes, that is essentially what I am here for. I would rather lose one city to independence then to have that slimy bastard take my brother's predestined position. Nohr would fall to even further ruin under his hand, more than it has already."
Scarlet nodded. "In that case, you wouldn't be opposed to working with any... foreign assistance, shall we say?"
The Prince scoffed. "You mean Hoshidans? Of course not, so long as they don't try and kill me or my retainers. It's easy to see why they'd support such a rebellion, I never had any doubts as to their possible involvement."
Ryoma looked at Scarlet, who nodded. He replied, "That is good to hear." And that is when he took off his helmet.

Leo and the Eyepatched Retainer didn't seem to recognize him at all. The other retainer, however, clearly did, as his face underwent a veritable rainbow of expressions as he shook a shaky finger at Ryoma. "YOU!" He declared, "I KNEW IT WAS YOU! Only Hoshido's Prince Ryoma has such a chiseled jawline, such long and regal brown hair, such a precision in his eyes, which have seen the aftershocks of war!" At this declaration, Leo's eyes narrowed...
Odin Passed, Reroll for the Others!
Leo: Recognition Roll, DC 26: 21+10=31, Pass!
Niles: Recognition Roll, DC 26: 2 (It's going to take him weeks at this point)
That was both very good news and very funny.
Also the whole Iago theory Leo's made makes sense, even if it is wrong, he could convince the others through this, and that'd be very good for us (Iago deserves getting shit on anyways, he's scum of the highest order.)
Edit: Also Odin seems to have gotten super good at seeing and detecting shit, perhaps this too, is the wheel of fate at work. (/s)
I wonder if Iago is a WoD Mage in addition to his Fire Emblem magical prowess. I'm sure we'll run into a Mage or Proximi that isn't connected to a sword and the sooner we root them out the safer we'll be. Hopefully none of them (or any of the sword wielders) are connected to Mage's godlike, ascended villains.
Mozu: *Sigh*, Where am I supposed to find animals to hunt now? I've searched all day for a deer or something, and yet it's getting close to dinner and I've still not found anything...

Mozu: Well, I didn't want to put it like that, it sounds rude when I use that kind of language.
Sadaharu: *Sigh* Honestly, I prefer it when someone just comes out and say it. It's something I'm stuck with, no need to avoid it.
Mozu: Alright then... I'm sorry for forgetting about your disability, I forget that you ARE blind sometimes with how well you do in combat.
Sadaharu: *Grins* Heh, then I guess it's my fault then for doing so well. I'll make sure to grope around blindly the next time we're ambushed.
Mozu: Um, you don't have to do that-
Sadaharu: That was sarcasm.

Just trying to come up with some support conversations with the new characters, especially since we've automatically reached a few support levels with some of them. Speaking of which, do any of you know if Mozu and Hana have a support? I can't seem to find it on the Fire Emblem Wiki, but I'm sure that they'd have one.
Yeah, I admit, I'm a bit proud of myself for thinking it up, but in hindsight it's pretty obviously the logical train of thought. What would you believe more? That Garon is a zombie being controlled by an invisible dragon who rules a kingdom whose name you can't speak of in order to ensure that humanity is wiped out/subjugated? Or that he's a zombie being controlled by his retainer, one of the greatest sorcerers alive simply so he can obtain more political power?
No, I'm not drawing villains from the World of Darkness setting. What I am doing, as @Jhin Lemon can attest to, is adding the possibility of villains from other settings to the Reality Alteration rolls. Just hope that you won't have to deal with one.

That sounds a bit more accurate. And thanks for the information! It just seemed like Fate has been changing races and giving people strange bloodlines lately so Proximi seemed like a valid concern.
I'm honestly thrilled about what those have done to the quest, but reveling in the ridiculousness is always a good laugh.

Mozu made sure to pull Tsubaki aside. He turned to her questioningly, but she just shook her head. Taking him a considerable distance away from the village, she turned to face him. "You said you wanted me to prove the special magic that I had?"
He blinked, before replying. "I... did. You intend to prove so now." She nodded, before touching his shoulder with one hand, raising the other and speaking in a language few could understand.

And later, some would say, Tsubaki's heart grew three sizes that day. He was filled with an exuberant feeling of triumph, and yet, humility for some reason, and his soul delighted in such a blessing...
Until the 3 second ran out, and then the feeling was gone. Shocked at the wondrous feeling just disappearing on a whim, he looked to Mozu in anger. "What was that?!" He demanded.

"It's one of the things my form of magic is able to do," Mozu explained, "Have you heard of the old legends of witches granting soldiers supreme confidence, or willpower? That was just like that, except a bit more temporary. If I wanted to do it a bit more permanently, I'd have to risk my own health to do so."
Tsubaki regarded her for a moment, before sighing. "Alright then. I guess you wanted to show me this now for a reason?" Mozu nodded.
"Yes. I have a spell which allows me to track 'descriptions' of what I'm looking for down as long as I maintain it. 'Kidnapped Retainer' fits the bill, don't you think?"
"'Blue-haired Hoshidan Kidnapped Retainer' would work better. I have no idea if any other nations's have had retainers captured, and I would rather not risk it."
"And I would like to tell you to tell the others that whatever information I obtain is good."
He scoffed. "I'm not endangering my reputation on what the others would see as a guess. If you want to convince the others, you're going to have to do some research to support your 'theory'."
She grumbled a bit at that, but did not argue the point. "Could you at least make sure no one finds or disturbs me for the next few hours? I'm going to need to take some time if I want to do this right."
He agreed. "Easy enough. How much time do you need."
Listening to what Coinspinner told her, she said, "About three to four hours. That should be enough to give the spell the power it needs."
He closed his eyes, deep in thought, before nodding. "Difficult, but I might be able to do it. Just don't expect it to work 100%, though."

Mozu feared for her life. That was natural of course. She was about to be annihilated by a giant green monster who ran faster than most horses did. She guessed even Coinspinner couldn't save her now...
...Luckily for her, something else did. With a shriek that can only be replicated by dozens of pounds of steel falling straight from the atmosphere down, something crashed into the earth behind the Faceless horde, annihilating them in the shockwave. As the wave reached Mozu, she was surprised to feel no pressure whatsoever, even as the faceless in front of her was annihilated. When the dust settled... all she could see...
I mean, if we REALLY want to, we can have Mozu use it and then give Apocalypse to someone else. But Ullr is also an option, even though he's not a Space Marine (Yet).
I have an idea! This weapon contains a fragment of the Wailing Doom. That weapon was capable of manifesting itself in the form of a spear, an axe, and a sword. There's two ways to handle this. First we test our luck and hope that the dimensional transportation 100% killed and scoured the daemon in God-Splitter. That means that the wraithbone (a psychic-magic substance) in the Wailing Doom fragment is now the "dominant" mind/ego of the weapon. With a tentatively friendly weapon we don't have to fear giving it away. The second way is to find a healer or exorcist that can permanently kill the daemon in the weapon. Perhaps that will destroy the entire thing. Otherwise we will again have a safe artifact.
I really don't have a problem with our team's healer just obliterating the item in an effort to kill the demon. I hope the inner eldar wraithbone "mind" isn't destroyed, but it wouldn't be a friend to humans anyway. Anyone that tries to rules-lawyer use being a kitsune and using the daemon as a source for our dark magic should cease and desist. It would not end well, no matter how lucky we are.
Also maybe the previous owner "Mordecai Toth" left warning labels or maintenance instructions for the hammer. He gave it away so he couldn't be the only one capable of wielding it.
Also, since it's been a while since I've played Dawn of War 1, but was there a daemon in God-Splitter? I thought it was just the Wailing Doom fragment.
That means that the wraithbone (a psychic-magic substance) in the Wailing Doom fragment is now the "dominant" mind/ego of the weapon. With a tentatively friendly weapon we don't have to fear giving it away.

I'm not going to just put them at the top or bottom, since I also use the rolls as a measuring stick of where I'm at in the chapter.
I can totally put them into spoiler boxes though, that only takes a minute or two extra.
Doesn't every daemonweapon have a daemon in it? Isn't that why they can corrupt people (as opposed to raw warp energy flavored towards a chaos god patron)? I thought that daemonweapons were considered as heretical as a daemonhost because they literally deal with the soul suckers.
Maybe the Emperor could create some purified warp matter that's like the Astronomican, but hat isn't relevant here. And it certainly isn't in the typical human psyker ability sets.
As for the Wailing Doom and why I'm more worried about a daemon: I don't want to make any portals to the WH40k Warp and this universe doesn't need a Warp dimension of its own to form because some daemon gets lonely. Back to Wailing Doom- it is still a lesser evil. For all the damage Eldar cause, this can't take down a country on its own. Even if the fragment eats the neutralized daemon to become something greater, it is not too dangerous.
Thanks for replying!

Sadaharu's eyebrows squeezed together in thought, but he didn't say anything. Tsuneko just scoffed at the statement, while everyone else just nodded along. Sakura almost seemed hypnotized by the statement, it was quite freaky now that Mozu thought about it. Hana took notice of it, and tried shaking her friend awake.
Hana: Roll to recognize something's wrong, DC 60: 45+7 (Intelligence)+7 (1/2 of Precision)+10 (On My Honor)+15 (Support Rank A)=84, Success!
Her face became a visage of worry as her shaking Sakura didn't seem to shake her out of it.
???: 21
But eventually Sakura snapped out of it, as she looked to her best friend with a smile. Tsubaki didn't see this, too busy having his face rest in his palm. "You all truly believe this? That a hammer just miraculously saved Mozu in her time of need? Does that not seem suspicious to you in the least?" Tsuneko picked up the thread he left.
"He's right guys. In the Magic World, random, sentient magical objects are generally a bad sign. Ghosts, spirits, demons, they can all possess stuff and it's a real danger."
Tsuneko: Contested Roll to appeal to information: 31+23 (Persuasion)+11 (1/2 of Intelligence)+25 (Natural 100 Critical Success)=90

Finally, he turned away and walked over to Tsuneko. "She's right. Try as I might, I cannot just give in to the group belief. I've been burned before by 'divine' objects, I'd rather play it safe and not just accept such a claim." At the word "burned", he lowered his blindfold, revealing an empty eye socket surrounded by horrific scar tissue, before retying his blindfold.
Fuga's Group: Contested Roll to convince: 22+10 (Group Persuasion)+4 (1/2 of Group Intelligence)+4 (The Memories Say This...)+30 (Critical Failure)+15 (3 Extra members)+4 (???)+1 (What a Tease)-2 (For My Liege, May He Reign)-3 (HATES Potential Dark Magic)=85

Results: 85-99=-14, Failure!
This seemed to cause the group to rethink their opinion. Sakura, however, still seemed unconvinced, though even Fuga was thinking twice of the situation. Finally, he spoke up. "What do you suggest we do with it then?"
Tsubaki glanced toward the hammer. "Simple. We have our more magically savvy members take a loot at it, and if need be, exorcise it." With that said, he pointed to Mozu, Hayato, Orochi, Sakura and Tsuneko. "You five will be taking a look at it. The Rest of us will be steering clear until you're done. I would rather not have to worry about potentially dooming this village to some evil spirit while we are all searching for Oboro and Lord Takumi." Despite his... demanding tone, everyone got down to business.

Almost everyone seemed to give up upon trying to examine the warhammer... Everyone, that is, except Mozu. With a sharp gaze which seemed to decipher the very connections around her, she realized to her astonishment that something was possessing the weapon, though she had no idea what exactly. Relaying this to the other members, they disagreed with her analysis, and refused to do anything to the object in question. Which left Mozu as the only one willing to exorcise or even communicate with whatever was in there.

Reduced Time Until Disciple Ranking by 5%!
Using Apocalypse's magic to try and burn out whatever was possessing the hammer, Mozu tugged and something screeched in pain before visibly evaporating into the air. Huffing and panting from the effort, Mozu then hesitantly moved over to touch the hammer.
Mozu: Roll to Connect to the Hammer, DC 60: 86+15 (Magic)+6 (1/2 of Intelligence)+10 (Fresh Potential-10 (Didn't mean to do it, honestly!)=107, Critical Success! Reduced Effective Weight By 10!

Who Does it Go to?: (d5:3), Orochi gets a new book!
With a twisting of space and a severing of the bond between Mozu and it, the tome landed in Orochi's hands...
Orochi: 48
Hayato: 64
Sakura: 64
Tsuneko: 54
Does it go to Hayato or Sakura?: 93 vs. 90, It goes to Hayato

And then appearing in Sakura's. This time, however, it stayed in place as Sakura's eyes blinked at such a rush of power. Mozu, however, could only stare at the hammer which had connected to her so intimately.

Tsk tsk tsk, Mozu. Number One Rule About Magic: DON'T TOUCH THAT!
Also, tell me whether you guys like the idea of the "Group" Rolls. I got the idea from Danganronpa V3's "Scrum Debates" and I wanted to apply it here.
Finally, those ??? modifiers? "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain..."
So Mozu's still a dragon-blooded, fox-tailed dark mage who is badly injured (is the stat document accurate?). Should have been healed before interacting with the dangerous poltergeist or whatever it was.
In any case I wonder if there is a Fate magic trick for pulling off this trick. Or for throwing the dangerous hammer people followed by reversing that action without undoing any damage dealt. Y'know that would be a stylish move, but probably a risky waste of our power. Curse Mage magic for making us act "responsibly."
Speaking of Mage stuff "Forces" is one of the, let's say, schools of magic. Like Fate. There's a tiny chance that this will let us expand into a host of new spells. The more probable reality is that it would only enhance Force spells used by the wielder. Or...it could cast some Force abilities on its own like the sword automatically causes rerolls. Hard to say.
Finally I'm worried that Apocalypse will eventually jump to an enemy during a battle if they have a better dark magic compatibility than the current wielder. Maybe we can woo it back?
More like "Guaranteed Chance". When we reach Disciple Ranking in Fate, we will fully awaken as True Magi. When we do so, we will pick one Arcana out of a current number of three (Dragon's Blood and God-Splitter: Forces, Kitsune Heritage: Life and ??? (I swear if anyone from the discord server spoils this I will GUT them): Prime), and gain Rank 1 in that Arcana. Said Arcana will also be one of our two "Ruling Arcana" along with Fate. What Ruling Arcana do is have no limitations on high we can raise the arcana beyond those place by gnosis (Normally, you can only raise an Arcana to 4, unless it's your Inferior Arcana in which case 2) and it allows you to cast spells in those two arcanas without paying any mana whatsoever. Rotes and Praxes also remove the mana cost of their spells.
Finally I'm worried that Apocalypse will eventually jump to an enemy during a battle if they have a better dark magic compatibility than the current wielder.
