Sonic Fic Ideas, Discussion, and Rec Thread

IDW comics going with "humans besides Eggman exist, they're all just... offscreen and never mentioned, forever" remains kind of weird feeling.

While we're on the subject, I'm not terribly familiar with said comics, but is Lanolin as much of a Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V of the character of the same name from US Acres as she looks?

I hear that. The concept that the animal people are called "Islanders" simply because they're mostly found on islands and are basically isolated from Human civilization is even worse in my opinion.

They don't look the same from what I'm seeing, and I think Sonic's Lanolin actually has better reasons for being bossy and seemingly unfriendly than the other one. She's just in a real "I have to do my job" phase.

Knuckles and the Chaotix fan comic
Personally, I don't really see the big appeal of Knuckles being in the Chaotix permanently due to them all having different callings, but here's a fan comic someone has been working on.

Knuckles and the Chaotix: Descend into Darkness

Cover

On a different subject, I wonder how different Sonic Forces, and what came after, would be if the Phantom Ruby ended up, not in Doctor Eggman's hands, but his descendant, Eggman Nega's. With the right usage, Nega would use it to return to Earth, empower Infinite, and usurp his ancestor's role in the game for himself.

Some things would remain the same with Sonic captured and the war going incredibly bad for six months, even with Ivo Robotnik begrudgingly working with the Resistance. But as Nega, Infinite, and some persuaded villains, like Dr. Starline (who sees Nega as the more fulfilling Eggman than Ivo) and Mimic (who doesn't have a choice), nearly succeed in turning Earth into an evil playground like Dr. Regal (Mega Man: Battle Network) and King Piccolo (Original Dragon Ball) would have wanted in their franchises, Sonic and friends successfully drive Nega away, who leaves the Metal Virus to either Starline or the Deadly Six as a "parting gift," and Ivo goes MIA during the final battle before later returning as a friendly amnesiac.

Of course, despite wanting to remain Mr. Tinker, the man allows Burning Blaze to use the Sol Emeralds to jog his memory in order to help against the Metal Virus. Once all is said and done, though, Eggman proclaims that he will return to evil, but nonetheless offers Belle to choose joining him as his lab partner and daughter or not, which I can see her accepting since he wasn't responsible for the past two messes here and actually took the time to truly bond with her.

Passengers
I don't remember if I already shared this story on here, but the concept is interesting to read about.

"Finding the right Zone to return home to has been anything but for Julie-Su. Everything she had suffered through with her people, and her good friend Saffron, was met with a horrible truth: the people she knew and loved...were gone. In their stead where friends who were there, but not. And her safety, her rock, her security...he was only a shell, the Knuckles she loved not in it.

A new life awaits her by orders of her lover's mother. Joining G.U.N. had come easier than she had expected. But her new partner was unexpected.

Shadow the Hedgehog is also holding his own secrets...failures that Tower has seen to redeem for him for the planet's sake. But being partnered up with the pink Echidna has begun to upheaval memories he thought he had long buried. A mysterious cube discovered by accident would lead them both ion a mission that will find old friends, create new ones, and make them question themselves of what to hold on to, or to let go. They will find what constitutes passengers in their lives. For Shadow, his failures--Maria. For Julie-Su, the thing she saw as a blessing, but now is a curse. Her Soultouch that won't let her go."

Egg Clone idea
Reposting this comment by @SeichOfLacan on my SUBJECT: RALLY the CHIPMUNK fic here where I feel it will do more good:

And another Fanfic idea pops in my head because of Stray Dialogue in this story!

Robotnic has a Son, but he has him go into a Stasis pod during his BIG ventures. Until Forces rolls around, where after Sonic's defeat he allows him out to 'Marvel' at his Victory. He doesnt like what he sees. But he's still his Father's son, a genius, but heavily unsocialized, and a Precarious idea of right and wrong.

So.... he just starts Cloning everybody. A Clone of Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, almost EVERYONE who proved a decent Enemy of Eggman. With Modifications of course, thought not being made as Cyborgs. But genetic Augmentation to enhance certain traits or provide a Strength to cover a Weakness. Though of course some didn't have the Same Strengths as their Templates, Solo, Tails' Clone only had One Tail due to Tails two tails being a 'birth defect' rather then a Direct Mutation.

Eggman, During Forces gave his son his first Base of Operation for his own creations and experiments. He even left it Unbugged. (Lets call his Son Eggshell for now) Eggshell would expand his Base using his own Badniks, and would provide his Forces their own Places to stay within his Base, and room for their own Recreational activities and Hobbies. They even occational go to City's for activities. Though Eggshell is more or less their creator and Father. He also constructs his own Mobian Badniks(think like Metal Sonic, but original Creations rather then robotic doubles).

When Mister Tinker is Replaced by Eggman thanks to Starline, the New Eggman outright doesn't like his son anymore, when previously he actually loved and Doted on him, even though he made it a point to never mention him infront of Sonic or anyone he considered an enemy. Which leads to Eggshell relocating Bases.... and forming an Alliance with the Restoration.

Also, Starline used Eggshells Cloning tech to make Surge and Kit in this Au.

Clone names.
Sonic= Blast (Blast off)
Tails= Solo (has a Jetpack made from a Hover Wispon, has a Green Wisp named Cyclone)
Amy= Amanda
Knuckles= Duster (Knuckle Duster, has Gene Therapy to be Physically bigger and stronger, so he's basically Boom Knuckles Physically)
Silver= Chrome (strangely an Error in the process caused the clone to Drop Y chromosome and was born Female)
Blaze= Blizzard(Blazes powers come from her connection to the Sol Emeralds, so Eggshell found a Compromise, The Snow Amethyst, another Mystical Gemstone with supernatural powers, you can guess her abilities)
Vanilla= Spice(Eggshell chose Vanilla over Cream because of her Records as a G.U.N. Agent)
Shadow= Night(was relatively easy to get a sample of his blood due to Eggman having it in storage.)
Rouge= Cerise (Gene therapy for Stronger Wings)
Tangle= Bangle(she was on Eggmans Watchlist for awhile even before the war.)
Zero/Infinite= Present( Present tense,Found him in a ditch and took a blood sample, nearly decided not to take it because of how he turned on his Squad so easily.)
Whisper= Unnamed until after the Metal Virus(her genetic sample wasn't Obtained until a Week before the Metal Virus outbreak, and wasn't given time to grow before Eggshell decided to pack up and find a new base of operations to avoid infection, so Shes just a Pup)

Note, when I post an Idea like this, its me Offering up anyone who sees it and decides they wanna write it the chance to adopt it.

This came to me just today, but could the Middle Earth books be considered a plausible destination for a Storybook story? It's an odd idea to say the least, but I don't know.

Other than that, while we all have our different opinions on Human/Mobian relationships, especially if they include Sonic or not, I think it's fair to say from the perspective of this Archie issue, that non-game people with the license have their own views on the matter, too. But hey, this doesn't look so bad.

IMO Storybook entries should be pre-modern, One Thousand And One Nights is from the early 1700s and King Arthur started to be a thing in the late 1300s IIRC.
So, just to throw out a nice round number that feels right, something that has been in the collective conscious for at least a century.
Middle earth is about a decade or two too young for that at this point.

You make a valid point.

I wasn't going to post anything right away, but who would've expected that Paramount would release a second movie trailer today of all days?

Pen Pals (SonAmy fan comic)
I do think this SonAmy fan comic has always been nice to read.

Aside from seeing some substantial, but not necessarily exact, similarities between Burma and Rouge, I can definitely see Shadow as either the eventual Vegeta or even a "more serious Goku" here, along with Big as a nicer Yajirobe and Knuckles as Yamcha for the sake of argument. I guess that would make Amy either Launch or Chi-Chi? Although that last one would fit with Sonic as Goku better if we're talking about later marriage.

It's no coincidence that I thought the following scene from Dragon Ball Z would mesh well with Shadow as a space traveling conqueror whether he's working for the Black Arms or even himself.

Anyway, some Sonic comparisons with Lupin III got me thinking on some stuff.

The way I see it for "Sonic the Third" to be a thing would be to make the Sonic name an alias that the current Sonic (who I call Nicky Maurice Bernadette) inherited from his father and father's father (Jules and Maurice for the sake of argument, but I won't give the latter a big presence in the present day compared to Arséne Lupin) who all have super speed in a global life of thievery, espionage, and treasure hunting, with Sonic III himself accompanied in his daring exploits by Bean the Dynamite, Bark the Polar Bear, and later, Rouge the Bat herself in an outlaw version of the usual Team Sonic (plus Amy Rose).

While Doctor Eggman is in the role of Mr. X of Scorpion (if mostly because he's the closest thing to a criminal archenemy I think Sonic/Lupin has), G.U.N. outsources it's investigative efforts from the Chaotix Detective Agency, which would include a second team made up of Amy, Tails, and Knuckles, who either want to go up against Sonic for mostly friendly reasons as Amy and Tails do, or, in Knuckles's case, want payback for Sonic III stealing the Master Emerald and never returning it.

It's kind of like my pre-reboot Archie story, Fresh Bounty Hunters (which I need to update at some point), except Fiona and Nicolette are replaced with Rouge, Sonic's already in a life of crime, these guys aren't afraid of keeping the treasures they steal for themselves (like the Master Emerald, Chaos Emeralds, and any other shinies Bean and Rouge like) or to sell off to the highest bidder (everything else that isn't shiny or can be used as a potential doomsday weapon), and, of course, there's no active war going on where they can sell their services as mercenaries/bounty hunters for the good guys against a common enemy, which probably means no covert agent status for Rouge here and that they would be more fierce rivals with the Babylon Rogues than they ever were before in any other depiction.

Other than that, I can see an imperialist Sol Empire being an extra-dimensional version of the Fire Nation.

    • Nate Morgan (Good guy with a lot of connections, but too many scientists and all that)
    • Gold the Tenrec and Professor Von Schlemmer (they're not bad, but I don't how they would fit in all things considering).

Additionally, remembering the above post I made way back, I now think these three characters are indeed workable for my eventual plans for The Sonic Narrative.

Lastly, considering a Tails-centric plot line, I can imagine plenty of ideas if his place of birth and upbringing was the Nameless Zone that, in the setting of this story, exists in the same universe as Argentium (for the parent plot) and Green Gate (Cosmo, obviously) and many other foxes (such as Kitsunami, Fiona, and maybe even a more platonic Zooey) live here alongside some other subjects, from Surge (seeing how Kit is right there) to the Temple from that one Adventures episode that was managed by a bat king, who is supported by the Yagyu bat ninja clan.

I mean, bats, foxes, and at least one rat lived in the Fleetway Nameless Zone which also had a centaur village and a goblin nation, so it would be simple to feature other stuff for the sake of argument.

Metal Sonic self-insert idea
If there's one lesson I wish I could drill into my past self, it's this: don't bite off more than you can chew. It's a piece of advice that would've saved me an inordinate amount of suffering—like the suffering of being kicked through five apartment walls in rapid succession, for example.

I'll admit, I didn't hate Archie's Sonic comics at first. Quite the opposite, actually. Like any die-hard Sonic fan, I had my preferences. The games were my bread and butter; the Sonic X Anime? An unexpected delight. But the Archie series…well, let's just say that diving into its sprawling chaos was like stepping into a tornado made of chili dogs and melodrama. Intriguing, sure. A bit confusing? Absolutely. Did I regret reading it? Not at first. Now? Oh, you better believe I do.

The cat Mobian in the next room screamed in terror as I burst through her cozy apartment like a particularly over-enthusiastic wrecking ball. I couldn't blame her; the sight of me would make anyone scream. For a moment, I waved awkwardly in a futile attempt at reassurance. She clutched a frying pan in her trembling paws, and I silently begged her not to test her aim on my dented chassis.

Before I could even finish that thought, my internal systems blared a warning: PRIORITY ONE TARGET INCOMING.

"Fantastic," I muttered or tried to as my voice came out as static. Had to fix that later. I barely had time to bring up my black shield before the apartment around me exploded into debris. Another impact sent me soaring again, this time through three more walls and into what I guessed was a kitchen. Judging by the shattered plates on my frame, someone wasn't going to have dinner tonight.

"Gotta say," a familiar, cocky voice called from somewhere amidst the chaos, "you make one heck of a piñata."

Even now, part of me couldn't help but admire Sonic's quips. If I still had lungs, I might've laughed. But laughing seemed counterproductive when you were being systematically pummeled by a hyperactive hedgehog and his squad of best friends. So instead, I groaned internally as I rose from the rubble, recalibrating my systems.

Two years. I'd been here for two years. Plenty of time to regret every life choice that had led me to this moment. But, of course, none of it was really my choice, was it? Not after that fateful night when I sat down, blissfully ignorant, to read the first issue of Archie Sonic. I'd heard that the series was wild, but nothing had prepared me for this. I mean, reincarnation? In a fictional universe? That kind of nonsense was supposed to happen in light novels or fanfics, not real life—or whatever approximation of life I had now.

"C'mon, you bucket of bolts!" Sonic's voice snapped me back to the present. "You're not gonna let me have all the fun, are you?"

I tried not to flinch as I analyzed the scene. The Freedom Fighters weren't holding back. Sally was shooting at my backup badniks with that damned EMP gun, Nicole's holographic form flickered nearby, undoubtedly trying to hack into my systems. Bunny had her mechanical arm primed, Rotor was hauling some kind of high-tech gadget which I put on my need to destroy as fast as I can list, and Antoine was…well, he was trying, bless him but his sword was a joke compared to my steel.

The worst part? I wasn't even their enemy. Not really. Sure, I'd clashed with them before, but that was back when I was still finding my footing—literally and figuratively. These days, I was more of a reluctant enemy. Not that they'd noticed. The false Eggman was the real threat, a mad robot masquerading as the doctor we all knew and hated. I'd been working to stop him, but explaining that to the Freedom Fighters wasn't exactly easy when every other action my programming forced me to do was aiding in the conquest of Mobius. So yeah lets call it complicated.

Another impact sent me sprawling. I barely had time to process it before Sonic was standing over me, spinning in place, that signature smirk plastered across his face.

"Looks like this is game over," he quipped, the golden light of his impending spindash reflected in my cracked optics.

Game over. It felt ironic. For two years, I'd been stuck in this world, running from Eggman, fighting his impostor, and trying to survive encounters like this. And all because I'd made the mistake of opening a comic book. Reincarnation's a funny thing; you never know what you're going to get. Some people wake up as heroes, others as villains. Me?

I got to be Metal Sonic.

My programming screamed at me to act, to dodge, to do something. But as Sonic hurtled toward me, all I could think was, "Why couldn't I have been Tails?"
AN: An idea for a Metal Sonic SI in Archie Continuity. Its name would be Metals Mind.

MarineMoirs (Marine version of TailsTube)
TBH wanted some feedback on Metal Mind

It looks okay, I'm just not really big into self-inserts.

Anyway, JoeAdok has been making some Marine versions of TailsTube on his deviantart.

Speaking of the Sol Dimension, thinking about how the DC and Marvel multiverses number their components (Earth 616 to name one example), I think designating the Sol Dimension as Earth 1 (there's no Earth 0 here, just so you know) would be understandable as "sol" goes in the word "solo," while Sonic's world gets an interesting twist of the old Mobius Prime concept:

Amy flabbergasted: "Eight? We're Earth 8? Why is that the case?"

Knuckles exasperated: "All I know is that there better not be an "Eighth Chaos Emerald" reference again, or so help me."

Tails: "Funny you say that, Knuckles, because I asked around and it's because, since our universe has the Chaos Emeralds, that our home gets associated with the 'Chaos Star' which has eight directions."

Sonic shakes his head tiredly: "Yeah, I couldn't believe it either, guys."

Just so everyone knows, the Chaos Star is a thing in most fantasy RPGs (Dungeons and Dragons for one example) as well as a series of stories by English writer, Michael Moorcock.

TBH wanted some feedback on Metal Mind
I liked it and am curious as to where you might be going with this fic.

Mind you, as someone who also took the long dive into reading the entirety of Sonic's Archie and Fleetwood continuities, several fan comics, and keeping up with the current IDW run, I fully understand your SI's frustration with how much of a slog some sections can be, but there's also a lot of fun stuff in there too.

So... Which Metal Sonic body does Metal Mind have? I'm mostly asking because the Archie run had several, and a few of them had special abilities that the others don't (or at least not to the same extent).

He was built few days before Endgame in this as extra protection for Robotnik. The reason why he cant simply defect is because his programing is stopping him. He can bend directives but not break them. I will say that he does reason out that Robo-Robotnik is not his Robotnik thus a fake one thus a enemy of the Robotnik Empire

Sonic/Mina story
I can't say I agree with some of this story's execution, especially since it clearly has the melodrama tag and the summary heavily implied that the pairing will eventually end, but the guy who wrote Rediscovered Frontiers is pretty keen on it and it does look somewhat interesting, so I decided to share it here.
