You were a fighter and a man, but you weren't stupid. No matter how much Louise called you a fool. You weren't going to run full on into a platoon of bandits, especially ones marching as disciplined as these look. They aren't punks and children like the orphanage group were; you were a street punk and Louise was a child, so the choice was clear.
Aneki once said discretion was the better part of valor. You always listened to Aneki, except that one time. You never got another chance to do it again.
You dive into the woods, pulling Louise with you. Heiyou follows Louise loyally.
"Hoh?" Louise gives you a cheeky look. "You aren't going to fight them? Maybe you aren't as much a fool as you look."
"Honey! Want fight! Heiyou want fight!" Heiyou tugs on the sleeve of your tunic. Her horns have grown out a little and you notice her sharp fangs.
"Heiyou, down." Louise puts a hand on Heiyou's back. "It's too dangerous."
"Heiyou can fight!" Heiyou whines. "Heiyou strong! Bad men hurt people! Heiyou want hurt them!"
You can feel your aura draining just being around Heiyou; her red aura flares angrily as her horns grow thicker and longer.
"Heiyou!" Louise barks. "Calm down! Do you want to go back to being a bad dog?"
Heiyou's eyes go wide with terror; her aura sputters out and her horns retract. "Heiyou be good..." She slumps in deference to Louise.
"The hell?"
"It doesn't concern you, fool." Louise glares at you, then checks if her rifle's secured to her back. Once it's set, she starts to climb the nearest tree.
Heiyou sticks to you. "Lulu scouting. Ranger Job. Heiyou protect Honey."
You blush and scoff. "I can handle myself."
Heiyou squeezes your arm. "Heiyou. WANT protect Honey."
You feel her taut muscles and soft...face against you and suddenly feel invincible. There's a tingle on your cheek and Heiyou gives you a cheeky grin.
"Lulu can't stop Heiyou in tree. Heiyou lick Honey all she want now."
"I saw that," Louise growls.
Heiyou yelps, jumping at you like Scooby-Doo. You end up princess carrying her like Shaggy.
"What's the sitch?" You ask Louise, starting to strain under Heiyou's weight. You're no wimp, but Heiyou's got a few inches on you and is rock solid.
Louise pulls on a pair of steampunk looking goggles and looks into the distance. "Looks like a few small platoons, coming from the west. Probably enough for a small company in total. Crossroads is south from here, so we can avoid the bulk of them. They're probably walking the Dog's Path."
"The what now?" You're getting annoyed at having to ask all these questions, but you're a stranger in a strange land.
"The Dog's Path. A trail of iniquity in which bandits, highwaymen, and damned souls march. A bloody stream of the Jianghu, away from the eyes of gods and Magistrates." She pulls up her goggles and looks down at you. "Didn't you get the world primer when you Isaaced?"
You frown, quivering with exertion. "If I did, do you think I'd be asking all these questions?"
"Assumed you blew them off, like most people with manuals. Did you honestly not get it?"
You sigh. "A lot of things happened during my reincarnation, so yeah..."
Louise shrugs. "Sucks to be you. Heiyou, off." She puts her goggles back on. "Guess I'm logistics again," she mutters to herself.
Heiyou pouts at Louise and gets off of you before you collapse.
"Wait, again?"
Louise doesn't respond for several minutes. You're getting antsy without action, so you check your tunic for your bag of tricks: a small switchblade, some rags, marbles, rope, fishing wire, a Red Dragon Lighter and some vials of oil. More than enough to set up basic traps. Digging might be an issue, though.
"Heiyou? Do you like playing in the dirt?"
Heiyou's eyes light up. "Heiyou does!"
"Wanna dig some holes for me?"
"Un!"
You point out where to dig; she goes at it like a power shovel. A little brush, some sharpened wood and a length of rope later, your position is secured.
Heiyou is covered in dirt and sweat, hair mussed, beaming and panting. The wetness does interesting things to her top. "That was fun! Honey fun!"
You hear the sound of a bolt action working. "What are you two doing?"
"Diggin' holes." You say.
"That better not be a euphemism," Louise says.
"What is euphemism?" Heiyou asks.
"...Never mind," Louise groans. "Bandit vanguard three clicks out. We can evade, divert, or harry."
"Or we could rob them blind," you say, punching your palm. "You hit the boss of gangsters like this, they tend to go down quick."
Louise snickers, grinning evilly, before looking down her rifle's sights. "It's not that kind of game, fool."
[What Do You Do?]

Without hesitation, you start setting traps along the way; Heiyou digs holes while you pull branches, rearrange rocks, spread oil and set brush to turn the bandits' path into a march through hell. When you feel your handiwork complete, you return to Louise's positiom.
"You got some kinda grudge against bandits or something?" Louise asks. "You're not doing this for the orphanage; it was a shithole."
"It was a shithole, but it was our shithole!" You clench a fist. "Show some passion, woman!"
"Lulu. No art in soul." Heiyou teases.
"...Still a shithole." Louise sighs. "I know you're an Isaac, but you don't have to be so generic hero about this..."
You don't, but you're still kind of feeling yourself from the Abeshi fight. You will continue to do so until reality kicks you in the teeth. To be honest, sneakily starting shit with some low-level low-lives reminds you of home. Sure, you aren't transformed into a Magical Girl and there's probably not a Ramen joint run by what you're pretty sure are Chinese assassins to hit up afterward, but what you've got now is close enough to keep the homesickness at bay.
"I'm just trying to have some fun," you say, whittling some bamboo shoots into punji spikes. "And if you're gonna shit on my fun, shit on these instead. Stop more bandits that way."
"A-are you some kind of deviant?" Louise chokes. "You want biological warfare that bad, do it yourself!"
"Still think I'm being too generic hero about this?" You look up.
"I'd shoot you if it wouldn't give away our position early, fool." You catch a glimpse of her blushing face as she buries it looking down the sights.
"Lulu care lots, no show it," Heiyou whispers conspiratorially in your ear.
"Oh, she shows it," you grin.

"Bandits a click." There's a smile in Louise's voice. "Looks like your playing in the mud did something after all."
The bandits are in disarray: stuck, sunk, tied, pierced and generally stymied by your and Heiyou's efforts. The din of screams, moans and animal noises create enough mayhem for Louise to stealthily snipe stragglers. Her shooting form is military standard, but the glee you can feel from her is anything but.
The bandits are so shook up by your traps some break rank and scatter, leaving their stuck allies to be shaken down. They drop cheap weapons and stray coins from the pockets picked from their brethren. It's not much, but you're able to scrape together some decent scratch as you slowly advance from your previous position.

[ ] Louise notices some special ordinance on one of the entrapped bandits (Louise Equip - Caster Shells)
[ ] Heiyou claims a giant iron mace from a fancy looking bandit (Heiyou Equip - Maiden Masher)

Before you got snagged, you picked up a lacquered red box full of small bamboo pipe bombs and ninja tag looking things. The tags smell like plastic explosives, which is confusing but probably a hint to what they do. They'll help you set more dangerous traps and be good for demolitions. Or you could take the bombs and use them as an extra projectile weapon, alongside that pistol you snagged. You don't have a lot of them, so you'd have to ration your usage until you figure out how to make more.

New moves are nice and all, but you have the issue of a blade at your back. It's not the first time and it certainly won't be the last, but you're kind of glad it's a woman with a blade calling you Little Miss instead of a guy with a rod. Makes things less overtly rapey, you know?
It also makes what you're about to do less embarrassing.
"Who, me?" You say in the bubbliest JK voice your pride will allow.
"Yes, you," the voice says. You glance over to see the voice belongs to a lean-faced 30-something woman with heavy makeup on. The makeup is not enough to hide a brutal scar running widdershins across her face. Her big, Chernobyl-red wavy hair, gaudy gold earrings, and flashy attire try and fail to pull attention away from it.
You look forward, so as not to stare at her scar. "Couldn't be."
She pushes the blade at your back just enough for you to feel it on bare skin. From the pinpoint, it must be a jian "Then who?"
"Heiyou?" No answer. Shit.
"What is this, Children's Day?" Scar lady barks. "Cut the shit before I cut you."
From the sounds of it, Heiyou and Louise aren't near you yet. You'll have to play along. "How could lil' old me beat such big, strong men?" You choke back a little vomit at that.
She smirks a little at that and you think you've got her. "That's what I want to know," her eyes glow blue with her aura, "and what you're going to tell me."

You feel a surge of like qi from the ground before blue-green vines ensnare and restrain you.
Your facade drops and a blush rises. "Tentacles?! Fucking seriously?"
Scar lady smirks. "A wild dog must be brought to heel; be grateful I've bothered to use my Bountiful Harvest Style on you."
Among the intense embarrassment of being caught in something out of an ecchi manga (you're not even in magical girl form), you intuitively grasp the flow of qi in this attack. She channels her Wood qi into her feet, allowing it to spread and mingle with the forest. Nourishing the innate qi in the plant life makes it grow rapidly and strong; it's connection to her inner reserves allows personal control over the new growth.

If you could disrupt her breathing, you can disrupt her cultivation. If you disrupt her cultivation, you stop the vines. If you stop the vines, you don't have to ask any more questions about the things you're feeling along your thighs.
Speaking of which, you feel your own qi leech into the vines, but not the same way as Heiyou. Instead of feeling weaker, you feel harmonized. It kind of tickles and no you're not finishing that train of thought. Her cultivation is stronger than yours, but her concentration is lacking, probably because she's currently doing that anime bitch laugh at you.
It'd be a long shot, but you could try and claim the vines from her with your own power. You could snag all the bandits in one go, too. If you mess up, you might make the vines tighter and they're already starting to chafe.
"So, are you ready to talk? No mere puppy girl can survive Poison Blossom's Maiden Harvest for long!" You can taste how smug she is. "And the more you struggle, the worse it gets! Like those finger traps!"
You grit your teeth at being called a puppy, a girl, and a puppy girl. You decided to play along, and it's not like you can really punch her from this position. You do have a ninja tag up your sleeve (literally in your right sleeve) and could try and stick her or the vines with it. You have no idea how strong the explosion might be, but if it'll make the gloating stop you might just gamble.
Poison Blossom takes time from gloating to pout. "You're kind of being a dead fish about this, you know? Most girls by now are either moaning or crying. Sometimes both."
You give her a deadpan look. "No. Stop. It won't fit. If that thing goes in me, I'll go crazy."
The bandits and Poison Blossom give you a matching deadpan look. In the distance, you hear a keening howl that kind of sounds like "honey". Heiyou and Louise might be closer than you thought.
"You suck at this." Poison Blossom puts a hand on her hips. The bandits around her look disappointed, too. They're probably going to try and kill you soon.
[What do you do?]
[ ] Try and assume control of the Maiden Harvest vines.
[ ] Aim the explosive tag at the vines.

"Yes, you," the voice says. You glance over to see the voice belongs to a lean-faced 30-something woman with heavy makeup on. The makeup is not enough to hide a brutal scar running widdershins across her face. Her big, Chernobyl-red wavy hair, gaudy gold earrings, and flashy attire try and fail to pull attention away from it.
You look forward, so as not to stare at her scar. "Couldn't be."
She pushes the blade at your back just enough for you to feel it on bare skin. From the pinpoint, it must be a jian "Then who?"
"Heiyou?" No answer. Shit.
"What is this, Children's Day?" Scar lady barks. "Cut the shit before I cut you."
From the sounds of it, Heiyou and Louise aren't near you yet. You'll have to play along. "How could lil' old me beat such big, strong men?" You choke back a little vomit at that.
She smirks a little at that and you think you've got her. "That's what I want to know," her eyes glow blue with her aura, "and what you're going to tell me."

You feel a surge of like qi from the ground before blue-green vines ensnare and restrain you.
Your facade drops and a blush rises. "Tentacles?! Fucking seriously?"
Scar lady smirks. "A wild dog must be brought to heel; be grateful I've bothered to use my Bountiful Harvest Style on you."
Among the intense embarrassment of being caught in something out of an ecchi manga (you're not even in magical girl form), you intuitively grasp the flow of qi in this attack. She channels her Wood qi into her feet, allowing it to spread and mingle with the forest. Nourishing the innate qi in the plant life makes it grow rapidly and strong; it's connection to her inner reserves allows personal control over the new growth.

If you could disrupt her breathing, you can disrupt her cultivation. If you disrupt her cultivation, you stop the vines. If you stop the vines, you don't have to ask any more questions about the things you're feeling along your thighs.
Speaking of which, you feel your own qi leech into the vines, but not the same way as Heiyou. Instead of feeling weaker, you feel harmonized. It kind of tickles and no you're not finishing that train of thought. Her cultivation is stronger than yours, but her concentration is lacking, probably because she's currently doing that anime bitch laugh at you.
It'd be a long shot, but you could try and claim the vines from her with your own power. You could snag all the bandits in one go, too. If you mess up, you might make the vines tighter and they're already starting to chafe.
"So, are you ready to talk? No mere puppy girl can survive Poison Blossom's Maiden Harvest for long!" You can taste how smug she is. "And the more you struggle, the worse it gets! Like those finger traps!"
You grit your teeth at being called a puppy, a girl, and a puppy girl. You decided to play along, and it's not like you can really punch her from this position. You do have a ninja tag up your sleeve (literally in your right sleeve) and could try and stick her or the vines with it. You have no idea how strong the explosion might be, but if it'll make the gloating stop you might just gamble.
Poison Blossom takes time from gloating to pout. "You're kind of being a dead fish about this, you know? Most girls by now are either moaning or crying. Sometimes both."
You give her a deadpan look. "No. Stop. It won't fit. If that thing goes in me, I'll go crazy."
The bandits and Poison Blossom give you a matching deadpan look. In the distance, you hear a keening howl that kind of sounds like "honey". Heiyou and Louise might be closer than you thought.
"You suck at this." Poison Blossom puts a hand on her hips. The bandits around her look disappointed, too. They're probably going to try and kill you soon.
