You are correct, and I realized I was being a bit of an ass rolling for that without even showing you who might be teaching you.
but I am doing some cleaning up, both of the plot after the academy and for the future during the missions and training because they were really... mediocre.
so the roll i did involving your teacher after the academy is now completely thrown to the wayside until I finish cleaning up my plot and make it better. So now instead of arbitrarily rolling shit behind your guy's back, I'm going to allow you guys to roll for the chance to get a teacher that you might like to be with (For this one at least).
Or rather what the dice like in the roll room.
Edit: At least I have the self awareness to realize that I'm being kinda power mad and need to stop making hasty decisions it before I make everyone angry.

I'd expect this to involve a pool of individuals, none of whom are ideal and who all have significant amounts of... baggage... in one form or another. He has a fairly short list of individuals who are the right mix of capable and, since any Jonin he sticks with a team is going to be stuck with low priority missions for several years, expendable.
So you have one fellow who knows shinobi life inside and out but who, as a downside, is old. He was raised in pre-Village times and has ruthlessness hammered into his genetic code in triplicate. He isn't a well rounded individual and sees no merit in anyone else being one either.
You have another who is theoretically good but is also borderline crippled. You can trust him to be a great teacher and the Village isn't actually losing much with him tied down but getting active field experience for the team once they get further along in their training is going to be rough.
And another who is heavily specialized in just one field. And another who carries around an inconvenient ideology or agenda, either his own or what he gets from his parent clan. Another that has outside responsibilities and which is going to end up dragging his team into that mess or leaving them with problematic amounts of downtime. Another is a rising star and will be a great teacher but whose genin will have a shaky start.
I mean, hell, canon was desperate enough that the Hokage personally took a team. That is a pretty big sign that something is wrong.

Well I have a list, but their not exactly like what you have stated, because the thing is, Konoha needs a lot more war ready bodies that's can survive the meat grinder of war.
A few of the teachers are specialized. Some of them are just plain special, there are a few who want to use their standing as a teacher to play politics, and others who absolutely dispise politics and that may end up hurting his genin with his rude behavior to clients. And others who have one last chance at redemption for past sins.
But once I'm finished with the list, you will know that the hokage trusts them to teach the next generation.
And you will just need to do your part and survive the training, and learn from them before shit hits the fan, and your in the firing line.

Hiruzen took a long drag from his pipe and blew the smoke out in small o's, admiring the shape that he made before they vanished into the air.
"So, your finally taking on a team Hiruzen." Danzo stated as he looked at the assorted members of the Konoha jounin force that was on the Hokage's desk.
"I'm more surprised that you actually want to take on a team yourself." The subtle jab at his ego was always something Hiruzen loved to poke at ever since they were both academy students, and even as adults and leaders, they both understood that sometimes it was better to to keep their rivalry to jabs and jokes, than to… other projects.
Hiruzen made a mistake with allowing ROOT to be formed, and he knew he was lucky that the team Danzo had sent ended in failure. He got his excuse to shut it down before it could get any worse.
But this was far more productive. Perhaps now, Danzo could see the will of fire in the youth, and learn from them.
He had already made Mako Kuruma suffer for both their sins and hubris, and now she had to raise a child who carried a burden greater than any of her clan had ever had to carry.
Perhaps it was the gods punishing both of them for their sins. If Ayako was on their team.
He looked at the paperwork. Five genin teams from last year were still active, meaning that only five teams were available for this graduating class.
Raising standards right now might seem arbitrary, but Hiruzen wanted only the best genin to be in this training pool. After all, he was going to be teaching three of them. He could not just have them dropping dead on the first mission outside the village because they were not prepared for it, mentally or otherwise.
Danzo however was looking over the list of genin, for old times sake with Hiruzen. He needed a calmer more rational head to explain himself to.
Maybe because they both were going to be taking on students this time, and wanted to see who was joining them.
"I see Kagami finally got around to asking for a team?" Danzo stated, looking at the photo of Kagami and the rest of the survivors of the ambush that killed Tobirama that lay on your desk.
"He wanted to move to a safer post, what with having a child, and such." Hiruzen understood all to well what having children did to change ones perspective on the future.
Danzo's face was rather… well complicated, as it always was when he ever had genuine emotion on his face. Their friend had done well for himself.
"And all the Jutsu he learned needs to be cataloged and stored in the library." Danzo stated.
Of course he would say something far more practical… typical Danzo. It wouldn't kill him to feel happy for one of their comrades. "Of course."
He noticed Hiruzen's lack of enthusiasm. "I have many questions on the other teachers you have brought up to give Genin teams."
"Like who?"
"Haruno?" Danzo looked at one of the files. "A Special jounin is being brought in to teach Genin?"
"We need more expert sealers in our corps, and he has plenty of teaching experience with Hiroko. I do not see the problems with him taking on two more students." Hiruzen replied.
"But he is not a jounin. He's lacking in key areas of-"
"I know…" Hiruzen was quick to stop him before he got lectured. "but right now, every other jounin is either too important for me to give a team, or outright denied it due to mission record. Because despite his rank Danzo, Haruno is flawless on all missions he has had since he was promoted."
Danzo nodded. "Fair, but I want him to issue progress reports every month, to make sure there is development on all aspects of the genin's skillset."
Hiruzen smiled. "What do you think I was planning?"
There was a rare smirk on Danzo's lip. Once again he had been caught in the shogi trap. As always you were three moves ahead of him. "Still acting like a monkey, aren't you."
"Well anything to see that rare snake on your mouth smile." Hiruzen stated.
Then Danzo's hand went to the only one you had questions about.
"Senju Mikasa…" There was a pause. "You truly think she is past her teammates deaths and able to return to active duty?"
Hiruzen took a drag of his pipe. "Either she is, or she's convinced the psychologist she is… either way, we can't keep her in the village forever, or keep her off of active duty. Not when she's liable to escape and hunt them down."
Senju Mikasa… Hiruzen knew her when she was a child at the academy… a smart girl, a kind girl… She did not deserve to see what happened to her teammates. Even in ANBU, where the darkest and most terrible things happened and were seen by all of its members… the skin peeler was the most horrific way to die. And to see it happen to your friends...
Had her captain been only a few seconds slower, she would have joined her friends in the after life.
Hiruzen still didn't know which fate was better for her.
"Well… If you believe in them… I will trust your judgment… Lord Hokage." Danzo stood up and bowed to Hiuzen.
Hiruzen nodded.

Duties: Commander over all ninja forces in Konoha. Note: On missions he may send another jounin sensei, or leave his genin to fend for themselves if his presence is required elsewhere and he believes they can handle themselves.
Reasons for taking a team: To pass on the Will of Fire to the next generation. He is needed to Train Genin due to a Lack of suitable jounin.
Training Style: Hands on, with a drill like nature for all facets of a ninja life, including intellectual, physical and spiritual nature. He expects excellence from his students, because he knows his students expect excellence from him.
Mechanically (Your actions will be slashed in half, but you will get a +30 to all training rolls. However, your missions will be considerably harder, and the fallout from failing those missions are immense, both politically for the village and for your reputation within the village. He never branches from the paths he has decided for you, even when it seems appropriate. He wants you to become a master at what he wants you to be before he continues with something else.
Mechanically: If he wants you to be something, you are that something until he deems you ready and able, so learning more stuff will come at a penalty to the rolls where Danzo isn't focusing his attention on (for you at least). Mechanically: You need to help your sensei through her difficulties and gain her friendship before you get any training bonuses, however on missions, you will gain a +20 on certain actions.

Reason for Teaching: With the Death of Mito, he is the highest ranking and most skilled sealer in the village. And while he is passing along his skills to his apprentice, Hyuuga Hiroko, the Hokage has requested that he take on two more Genin to become a full on team.
Training style: You are going to Learn Sealing… that is a fact of life. Everything else is secondary to him, so it will be slow in shoring up everything else that isn't Sealing. That's not to say he is a bad teacher or is lacking in skills… he's just overspecialized.
Mechanically: Sealing training gains a +20 to training, while every other ninja art gets a -10 to training. Also Hiroko might hate her new teammates, and that will need to be addressed.

Hiruzen: too cliche (No, doylist reasoning).
Danzo: too restrictive (No, doylist)
Kagami: godfather, probably wants to connect with Ayako. Mom might shoot that down though. And I'm not a fan of the minus to genjutsu training. (Watsonian yes, doylist maybe).
Mikasa: Ayako is very good at reaching out to people. (Watsonian, yes. Doylist, weak maybe).
Sojiro: it makes sense to teach the sibling of the jinchuuriki sealing, but I'm really tired of that honestly. (Watsonian yes, doylist hard no).
In short, my preference order is
Kagami, Mikasa, Hiruzen, Danzo, Sojiro

This makes no sense. We know the Sharingan can do this, but have no evidence that anyone actually manages it in the same way Kakashi does. He never would have gotten a special title for his skill - "the copy ninja" - if it was something anyone with a Sharingan could do. Also, the Sharingan itself would have been much more sought after for reasons other than super special attacks and abilities.

Who are even all of the academy students we can assign? I feel like our friends won't fill up all five slots.
Also, I feel on some level we shouldn't be the ones to choose teams -- our MC has absolutely no control over it, so we shouldn't either.
I'm also on the team Danzo train. Konoha needs a dark side, and as long as we can keep him from fucking everything up not understanding peace Danzo should help us build the foundation for us to help run it.
I'd say Tsunade, Jiraya, and our Uchiha friend for Team 7 under Hiruzen.
Us, Orochimaru (remember, he wants to be the spymaster for the village), and someone else with Danzo.
The others are kinda a toss up. The seals guy is where we should put people who aren't going to go and be amazing -- sealers are a valuable resource since their skill set is much rarer so they don't really need to do as much beyond taking students of their own.
Our godfather and the senju as are good, but they're overshadowed by Danzo and Hiruzen taking students. So we can kinda have whoever with them.
