I find better chances of Ayako and her teammates surviving and passing the Chunin exams more interesting. But agree to disagree.
And I will have fun either way to give you options where one or more of your friends may get hurt.

You think this part of the exam is easy? I've spent the last few days making it as hard as possible.

Edit: because the first part was supposed to be easy.

Oh, I know that. But better we're with them to face those dangers than separated.

  • [X]Looking at a cell door: You were in the cell with one of your friends from Konoha was with you, and another ninja from Iwa as well. The guard was putting food trays on the floor. On it, was a note inside your prison porridge.

The Chunin Exams 4: Prison Break
The Chunin Exams 4: Prison Break

You awoke and coughed, making silent hacking movements as you spat out blood and spit. The room you awoke in was a dim place, the two candles in it burned. There was no window, the two bunk beds in there the only thing that made the place livable, and two people were sleeping on them. Everything else was like a dungeon.

A shit bucket, scratch marks on the wall that showed struggle and desperate attempts to escape… and numbers scratched in on the wall.

If you had to wager a guess… you were in a prison cell.

'Shit.' You muttered to your companions in your mind. 'What happened guys?' You asked.

"Well, we were drugged, dragged to god knows where, and thrown in a cell. Probably part of the Exams if I had to guess." Aka said. "But to be fair, it could be worse."

'What do you mean?' You asked though you had a sinking feeling as to what it was.

"Well, we could be kidnapped again." Aka started with a chuckle, which made you frown. "Okay, bad joke."

'Quite.' You replied. You did not want to relive that memory right now at least.

You looked down to see your hands were bound with flimsy rope. Really? That's great. You focused your chakra on your hands like a healing palm and caused the ropes to incinerate.

With those off, you hoped down on the floor and examined the other two occupants.

With you Konoha:1D100 => 97

With you Iwa:1D100 => 99

On the bunk below, Sakumo was sleeping… or rather trying to fake sleeping as he laid still.

The other was an Iwa nin, and the kid was the same age as you. You had to guess he was only five or six… with red hair like Shiro. But you could tell something was off about him, and it wasn't the red hair and the gaunt, malnourished face. It was the same feeling that you felt when around Shiro.

And then you saw the seal on his belly that he was trying to cover with his hands.

He was jinchuuriki. Just like Shiro.

"Ayako… You're awake." Sakumo whispered, causing you to turn around. He smiled a little. "Great… Kidnapped again."

You gave a small smile. "Who cares… we can get out of this."

The boy from Iwa stirred, before stretching and yawning. "Ahh... " He then makes some noise with his lips. "They upped the dosage this time… Great, is Mu the only man trying to make me stay in the hospital this time?" He then looked at the cell door and sighed. "Great… in the brig again." He then turned to you and Sakumo. He looked at the Konoha headbands on your heads and then yawned.

A moment later, he seemed to realize something and then jumped back against the far wall. "Oh come on!" He shouted. "First the drugs, now the Konoha nin, can this day get any worse?"

You cast a genjutsu. "That depends on your attitude towards foreign nin." You replied. "Also, your hands are bound."

The boy then looked at his hands and shook his head before holding them out. "Could you get them off please?"

You nodded, untying the knots and throwing the ropes down, before doing the same to Sakumo.

The boy then gave a smile. "Names Roshi." He said his name with pride. "And it seems we're stuck together tree huggers… at least until we get out of this cell."

Ignoring the insult, you saw the cell door open, or rather a slant in it. Coming through was three trays full of prison gruel before it shut.

Roshi walked over to it and looked at it, before tasting a little bit from his fingers. "Hm… It seems that the gruel here is better than the last time I was locked up in here… Maybe Mu finally realized I made this place my second home and actually gave money to the food budget. It tastes like actual porridge now instead of gruel."

Roshi's questionable phrasing aside, you walked over to the gruel and tasted it.

It was actually pretty tasty… and it wasn't laced with drugs… that was a good sign. Then you felt a piece of paper with your grimy fingers.

Oh… Well so much for a quiet prison rescue from the team.

A Shinobi, you may find yourself captured by the enemy, with no allies, no equipment, and no intel.

You are separated from your teams and are now on a limited time window to escape.

And you must hurry. There is an enemy outside the walls wanting to break in, and in two weeks time, you will be executed.

You must, find your team, gather an artifact in the Prison's armory, and escape before that time elapses, or you will die.

Good luck.

The Commander.

The Message ended.

"Great." You whispered in the genjutsu. "Sakumo."

"I see it…" He said quietly. "Great… just when I thought we would this would be a simple jailbreak."

Great… What do you do now?

[]Plan 13: Time to cast a genjutsu and find out where your team and Sakumo's team is. Hopefully, it won't lead to… well, a lot of screaming.

[]Roshi's Knowledge: Roshi said that this place was a second home to him… find out more… you'll need the intel. Hopefully, his information is solid.

[]Lockpicking and Jailbreaking, the Quiet Way: "Sakumo, time to go." You said, genjutsuing a lock pick and some weapons. You are not staying another moment here. "We need to rescue the teams."

[]Lockpicking and Jailbreaking, The Loud way: "Kagami, how much explosive tags can you pull out of your ass at a moments notice?" "Two thousand nine hundred fifty-six." Kagami replied devilishly. "Though I don't know about their effectiveness."

[]Wait: If you are lucky, this place will operate as a normal prison, and you will get to spend an hour outside, and within.

[]Plan 15: Fuck it! This situation counts as a dire emergency. (Note, if you do this, everyone within the prison will roll a sanity and suicide roll. If they fail these rolls, they will die. Do not do this unless you are sure you want to take that risk.)

AN: Enjoy.

This title fascinates me.

Hmmmmmm, on one hand then if Roshi fails we're trapped in a room with an angry released Bijuu, on the other hand if he fails we can bill Konoha for an A-rank assassination mission.
Decisions decisions.
Also this was definitely prewritten which makes me wonder if you'd also written the other one incase of a last minute reversal. No one spits out 1.1k words in 5 mins.

Actually, both were pre-written last night, and outside was about two thousand words longer.

However, in here, you get to have a lot more fun with your powers of genjutsu, and everyone on all sides of the prison are about to prove why they deserve to be chunin.:V

Basically, prepare for a lot of rolls the next update.

Hah, I had a feeling it would lead to a situation like this. Fun Route indeed, gives us more opportunities to meddle with our genjutsu

We're also in a disadvantage unfortunately and Magoose say this is the easy part? Man you really don't want us to pass don't you.

Hmmm......

Two of these are stuff I would normally go for but.....

[ ]Plan 13: Time to cast a genjutsu and find out where your team and Sakumo's team is. Hopefully, it won't lead to… well, a lot of screaming.

Our best chance is to find our team and be united, right? May as well cause chaos and mayhem along the way.

Since a high roll got us chibi!Roshi I'm inclined to leave this one to him, but I'll think about it for a bit.

The number of situations that can't be solved via napalm decreases the more napalm you're using.

We have a napalm jutsu.

@Magoose is Roshi intel basically follow Roshi's plan or ask Roshi about stuff then do the same vote again?
Roshi's Intel will grant you a new set of options, and you will have a chance to meet his team. who might help you.

You may also find your team as well with that Intel, along with the artifact in the Armory that you need to retrieve before leaving.

If we've got two weeks to do this then half an hour of planning won't be the difference between missing the deadline and passing.

We have time.

That kinda makes the other options not really worth it, unless for some reason the few minutes we loose with him talking are enough for everything to go crazy already.

Not that that's a bad thing, but you shouldn't be surprised if that wins in a landslide

Hopefully we can find Orochimaru on the way so that we can have him start turning out storage seals so that we can just loot everything.
