Shonen Quest!

Eh, I thought everyone knew that. It was just that attacking them was more in character.

[X] He's off balance! Attack!
-[X] Kick the sword out of his hand.
[X] He seems to think you are some sort of evil spirit. Explain otherwise.
-[X] What's this about being an evil spirit? You're the ones accosting random girls with a large group of thugs. I was only defending preemptively!

Pretty clear consensus this time. SV doesn't want to choose, SV wants both!

Of course.
Philosophical banter and questioning/explaining while a heated battle is going on is a shounen staple.

But unless we have a philosophical stance or a statement/conclusion derived from our own experience, getting in an ideology discussion while in battle usually ends with the other side beating us and using a might makes right argument until we can have our next battle after training and make them rethink their world view with our victory. Either that, or it ends in recruitment to the organization of the guy who trounces us after he sees potential in us.

Ah, but we know that we aren't an evil spirit, so we are certain to win the argument!

I mean, twists like that are usually saved for the 6th episode.

Unless it is the kind of shonen in which the character who usually goes alone end up joining an organization. In which case you must show how awesome the people who recruit the MC is and how awesome the MC is to be recruited in which case you either have a fight against a common enemy or a fight against the would be allies followed by a shown of the true enemy, which makes the MC wants to join to help in the fight against it.

Ugh. This is inexcusably late. Tuesday I learned that I just don't have enough creative juice to update every day, so definitely going with a M-W-F thing. Yesterday I got all my free time on SV got eaten by Berzerker's Hellsing Council quest Against the Darkness where I got tapped to be the "man on the ground." Busy making bad decisions. And I managed to misplace what I had written so far. Bleh. So, enough of my self pity, have an update! Voting will lock at 10:00am Friday.

-----------------------------------------

Channeling power to your boots, you snap a kick into the hilt on the sword while you twist the blade to the side. It's too much for even a giant, and the blade pops out of his hands and flies off, spinning, behind you. You don't bother to hide your grin and you go to explain yourself now that he's disarmed.

"I don't kno-"

The yakuza doesn't seem interested in talking, and he rudely interrupts you by effortless grabbing you and lifting you with one hand. With a heave, he throws you away. This time you don't quite manage to get your feet under you and you hit the ground on your bad arm. You roll on impact, and almost immediately pop back up in the middle of where the rest of the Yakuza were watching your battle. Fortunately, they all scramble away, apparently just from your glare. You take a moment to adjust your skirt, as it had been messed up a bit by that roll. Huh, you'd never been that athletic when you were alive. While you could pass PE, you hadn't done much sports, having been a member of the Cooking Club for three years straight. It's quite surprising to you that you've been jumping around quite easily in the fight. Oh, right. The fight.

You look for your opponent and find him walking towards you, with his sword casually resting on his shoulder. Since you still have some distance between you, you try talking again.

"I don't know what you've heard about me, but I'm not some evil spirit! You're the ones who showed up and accosted us! I was excited to finally find someone who could see me, and next thing I know you menacing guys had surrounded us. I was just defending myself. Preemptively." you explain, a bit louder than you had intended. You're still pumped up from the fighting. Fortunately, this seems to give the large man pause, and he decides to speak with you.

"Oh? You're not an evil spirit? Are you sure about that, girly?" he gives you a serious look. "You're much too strong to be a regular spirit, and we've tracked a spirit who's been attacking people." His gazes slides off to the side, and you glance to see the girl you had been talking to. She's looking at you with a concerned look upon her face. "In particular, girls who were walking by themselves. We know it's within a block of here, and we found you." He levels his sword at you. "Let me ask you again. Are you sure you are not an evil spirit." He says this in a way that makes you pretty sure it's not a question, but a condemnation. "After all, you're the only spirit here."

Of course, that is when you see a form appear behind the swordsman. It's furry and rather featureless, and instead of feet it has four large protrusions that end in claws. Wait. You look higher and realize that it wasn't some weird fur creature, it was a paw! A paw of a wolf that had to be at least two stories tall! Your eyes widen and you...

[] Shout a warning! No one deserves to be wolf chow. Will he believe you?
[] Attack the wolf before it can get the swordsman. Will he let you?
[] Grab the girl and jump to safety. This is what the Yakuza are supposed to fight, right? Will she forgive you?
[] Write in.

Wait, so this jackass just assumes we're doing something wrong because we're the only one he can see without a body? That racist ass!

If we shout a warning, he will think we are trying to distract him. If we attack the wolf, he will think we are attacking him. If we take the girl, we will have left the Yakuza to die.

...with our luck though, it might be yakuza's final attack. I doubt it though.

[]Attack the wolf before it van get the swordsman.

Edit: I like dash931's plan better

[X] "Very sure! Dodge left, now!"

Even if he doesn't believe or let us strike, the hope is that he'll have moved out of the way of whatever strike the wolf throws out and therefore have a chance of surviving.

Also, guys, we did attack his people before even giving them a chance to speak. So assuming we're a hostile evil spirit is reasonable.

Also, hey, they weren't bad guys! We were wrong!
