I'm gonna write down why I wanted to pick Simon and maybe convince some of you to pick it.

When I first entered this thread, I came to have fun. I wanted to read a story that would occupy my head and entertain me. It was that same reasoning that made me watch TTGL. What I watched was a story about a boy and his friends reaching heights that they couldn't even believe at the start of the story. I had fun seeing them grow strong. I had fun watching this boy and his brother (look up to as a brother anyway) bring the world and beyond to its knees.

It was fantastic.

It was Simon who I journeyed with and ultimately I want to stick with him because he's what started it all.
On the other hand, the ending kinda shafted Nia. And to quote someone I'm sure is very smart because he voted the same as me:
Seems easier to resist Nia getting mind controlled as Nia instead of as Simon.

ZA WARUDO!

Time has now stopped.

Votes are now locked. Simon wins, we'll be moving on to Stand selection in the next update.
Nine seconds have passed. Time resumes.

On the other hand, the ending kinda shafted Nia. And to quote someone I'm sure is very smart because he voted the same as me:

Yeah, weird since the message of the series is to never give up and then they turn that around by letting poor Nia die.

Also if Nia broke mind control because of the relationship we built with them rather than just voting to resist I would find more satisfaction with it. Something to think of in the future.

Then again we might miss a cool mental battle if we controlled Nia.

It no longer matters, now that the votes have been locked, but I would not be the least bit surprised if all of Nia's possible Stands were actually Anti-Spirals.
Black Cage: A mysterious black bird perches on your shoulder, dutifully scanning for any threats. You admire it's beautiful blend of black and red feathers.

Destructive Potential: B

Range: C

Durability: C

Precision: D

Development Potential: A

Forge the Bars: Black Cage can cause a very strong black metal to appear, freely capable of molding its shape and dimensions.

Gilded Cage: When Nia is within a cage forged from the black metal, it turns silver, and her wounds regenerate at a decent speed. Her strength and speed are also greatly enhanced within the cage.
...sec here, black and red? Interacts with Nia's body? Constantly keeping vigilance?
Anti-spiral Nia, is that you?

On the other hand, the ending kinda shafted Nia. And to quote someone I'm sure is very smart because he voted the same as me:

Eh, as much as I would have loved a happy ending for Simon and Nia, I don't think i'd change the ending of the Anime because i think it is one of the things that made it so good in the first place. They succeeded, They saved the Earth and the whole universe s well, but they paid the price and made many sacrifices as well.
In the end, it wasn't a perfect victory. Nia died even after they rescued her, Kittan sacrificed himself to allow them to move forward and most of the other members died in the Anime as well. But they still kept on fighting, and after they won the future looked brighter than ever, even if some of those who deserved to see it the most perished.

Gurren Lagann wouldn't be half a good a story if those sacrifices hadn't been made or worse, if Simon had just used Spiral Energy to bring them all back to life like they said he could in the Epilogue.

But that's not important here. We're in a quest where the future isn't set in stone. Hell, we don't even know if Nia will be brainwashed.

And against all odds, Simon wins! A fitting start to a quest where he stars, i'd say.

I'm well aware that I'm in the minority in my opinion on TTGL's ending, Nia's fate being the least of the reasons why.
But that's not important here.
But it's not a thing I can talk about in depth without pissing someone off, and this isn't the thread for it yet. Let's try to not to get a higher than 1:1 shitstorm to update ratio. :V

Introduction: Steel's Call (2)
[X] Simon of Jeeha Village, doing his usual job of drilling for metal and treasure. And also helping Kamina with one of his crazy schemes…

"Simon, then! Listen, we don't have much time. Are you alone at the moment?"

You heft your trusty drill over your shoulder, glancing around the tunnel. You're usually left along when digging, but sometimes the Chief'll take a look to make sure you aren't going too deep or forgetting the time.

"Um...no, we're alone. But, er, Mr.Steel—"

"Just Steel. And I already said we're short on time, so no more questions! I need you to pay attention and follow my instructions precisely, or else we'll be in trouble. Got it?"

...Well, he can't really do anything to you over a radio, and if he asks you to do anything really crazy you can just switch it off and sell it in the market or something. Kamina might be interested in it, though; radios beat tin cans and string any day. You nod to yourself, but before you can voice agreement Steel speaks up again.

"Alright then! First, I'll need you to keep a hand on the radio. Don't move it, even if it starts feeling strange."

As you place a hand on the radio, a feeling like electricity crackles up your arm and causes your muscles to lock painfully.

"Argh! What the heck is this, S-Steel!"

"I'm pulling out the energy in your soul to give form to your Stand. It's kind of complicated, but I think I have enough practice not to make the same mistake I did last time. Boy, that was a mess. Oh, don't mind the glow, by the way. You've got buckets of this Spiral Energy stuff."

Spiral Energy? Glow? What does he—

Oh.

Drills cover your arm, growing in so many places that they begin to grind and screech against each other, fighting to be free of your limb. Your panicked yells begin to fill the cave, but you're unable to pry your hand off the radio. Is this Steel's doing?

"Spiral Energy is harmless, don't mind it. I miss the days when I could do this from your dreams, then this would be a lot less unpleasant for you. Anyways, an image should take form in your heart soon...ah, here it is."

Suddenly, the drills snap back into your arm, leaving it good as new, if missing the entirety of your right sleeve. You try to pry the radio off of your hand now that Steel seems to have finished, but before you can make much progress, you notice something out of the corner of your eye.

A spirit floats beside you. Somehow, it seems incredibly familiar - like an old friend that has just returned to you.

"So, that's your Stand...Interesting! I'll do you the favor of naming it, Simon."

Select your Stand:

[X]Sound of Thunder

Appearance:
A short child wearing armor made from amplifiers and speakers, and wearing a phonograph backpack. He peeks up at you timidly from beneath his cap and headphones, his eyes showing volume levels.

Stats:

Destructive Power: B
Range: A
Durability: C
Precision: D
Speed: C
Development Potential: A

Delicate Sounds:
Sound of Thunder can manipulate sounds – causing whispers to become roars and crashes to become taps, and causing them to come from whatever direction it wishes.

Thunderous Sounds: Sound of Thunder can amplify sounds to the point where they become lethal weapons – a yell from Simon can topple buildings, if he so wishes.

[X] Pride of Man

Appearance:
A vaguely defined apparition made of dust and sand, two black spots denoting eyes the only remarkable feature on its otherwise plain face. It has no legs, preferring to float. When angry or commanded to fight in close quarters, it will form 'armor' and its form turns more muscular.

Pride of Man's Stand Cry is 'ORA ORA'

Stats:

Destructive Power: A
Range: C
Durability: B
Precision: A
Speed: B
Development Potential: A

Pride Before a Fall:
Pride of Man can destroy non-living materials with a single touch. These materials are then reduced to dust and added to Pride of Man's overall mass.

Behold the Mighty City: Pride of Man can then repurpose this mass to create complex structures and tools from materials of its choice. However, these constructs will eventually crumble back to dust after Pride of Man leaves their range.

[X] Gone to Heaven

Appearance:
Gone To Heaven takes the form of a small white monkey riding a yellow cloud, happily dancing about whenever it grows bored.

Stats:

Destructive Power: C
Range: D
Durability: D
Precision: C
Speed: A
Development Potential: ?

This Monkey's Gone To Heaven:
And what a route it took. With the use of this ability, Gone to Heaven can manipulate gravity acting on targets within its range. The ability can be stopped at any time, but can only be used once every ten seconds.

The Number Five – Man: With the number five, call upon five men. Simon can create up to five copies of himself, each wielding Gone To Heaven's power and his own skills. When they suffer a fatal injury, they disappear, and cannot be called on again for a day. Their abilities run on their own 'time', so if one uses Gone to Heaven's first ability, the others may still do so as well.

No other option.

Naruto? That's... unexpected.

That Development Potential. Pride of Man lyrics make me NOT want to pick the stand. Sound of Thunder doesn't seems like a stand Simon would use.

So...
In order...
Weaponized hot blooded Speeches.
Gurren Lagann's combining abilities + matter manipulation
and a Gravity based stand with the word "heaven" in it's name (that seems to be based off Sun Wukong). However, it has (?) potential...

Also, as a side note - I like how the least possible potential Simon could have is "A".

[X] Pride of Man

Powerful, tough, fast, lots of room to grow stronger, and it all ready has great abilities

WAIT SHIT BEFORE ANYONE GETS ANY CRAZY IDEAS:

VAMPIRES DO NOT COUNT AS 'NON-LIVING' TO PRIDE OF MAN. I forgot to edit that to 'non-organic'.

So no turning Dio into dust and then making him an igloo or something.

Fucking Gone to Heavens can multiply Simon into 5 people.

With no weakness and with the exact stand AND can only be taken down with a fatal blow. Better than shadow clones.

[X] Gone to Heaven

Has "Heaven" in the name, in a quest thats part jojo and with an undefined developmental potential... and the ability to manipulate gravity...

*Puts on shades* Buckle up boys, we're taking a ride with destiny!

Simon does not remember what his clones do/suffer.

It's Gurren Lagann, after all :V
Naruto? That's... unexpected.
I actually looked to Sun Wukong for inspiration on Gone To Heaven's development path.
...What do you mean, that isn't a valid option?

How about Libera Me From Hell? No?

Bah, fine.
They would be, but I wanted to use more classic rock references this time around.

Number 5- Man is part of the lyrics.
Number 6 - must be The Devil
Number 7- must be The God.

That Development Potential is fucking insane.

Also...There is no heaven or sky in the life underground society. To Simon, it's Just a myth.

This may represent his hidden desire to rise up out of those living conditions. TO believe in Kamina.
