You know you weren't supposed to stay out this late. Pretty lights or not, the dorm rules are there for your own protection, given that most kids can't do the things you do, and they have no reason to suspect that you are any different. You're out later than you should be, and you will be punished again if you get caught.
But you won't get caught, most likely. Because you've done something you've always known to beware of, cognizant of the fact that it could easily backfire. That, if you act upon it, things can and will go wrong. But you can't bring yourself to care.
For the first time in your life, you have an idea.
Your idea is a fairly simple one, in concept. Wait for the green time, and go inside while everyone is in coffins and can't notice you. Crawl into bed, and in the morning claim that you were there all night, or they would have noticed you opening the door. In execution, it's a fair deal more complicated.
First, and most importantly, is the fact that this plan revolves around the green time. You don't know precisely when it occurs, although 'late at night' is always a good guess, you don't know if it happens every night, and you will need to stay out of sight until then. You're pretty sure just being out of view of the windows works for that, so no need to duck down any nearby back alleys.
The darkness also helps. As does your small size, as much as you complain about it at times. You could probably just sit below a window and hope nobody notices you, and they probably wouldn't. People are unobservant like that.
You want to be just a bit more creative than that, of course. People do that kind of thing in movies all the time, and while it generally works out for them, the same very well may not hold true for you. Besides, that'd be just lazy.
Instead, you choose to take advantage of angles and corners. Just enough distance down on the sidewalk, and nobody from the dorm will be able to see. You're not sure just how far you have to go, so you settle for walking back until the building is no longer in view. Perfect. You duck around the street corner for good measure, though that's probably not entirely necessary. You don't want to attract any more attention than you need to, and you don't feel like wandering the city right now.
It's pretty cold out... you decide to sit down and curl up, thinking you'll stay warmer that way. It sort of works, but it also makes you tired...
You should get some sleep. Don't worry, I'll wake you up once Dark Hour hits.
You blink, and suddenly the world is green. This is the part that surprises you the least about your current situation. Sure, the green time is never a pleasant experience, but it's been a year, you can cope.
Things are even colder than you'd expected, which almost makes sense, but also makes you wonder how long you were asleep. Your fingers are more than a bit numb, but it's nothing a wave of healing magic can't fix. The spell comes easier to you than it did before, makes you more able to move, even if your alertness suffers a bit- that's just the cost of using magic, nothing more or less. And Dia is a very useful type of magic.
There's no sign of any monsters, thankfully, and you quickly run to the dorm, just in case your luck doesn't hold out. Grinning, you reach for the doorknob.
Locked. Of course. And you don't see any open windows you could try to get to, though you're not sure how you would if you did.
Hold on, let me try something...
This could be a problem, particularly as you don't want to break anything else with your powers, but you don't see a lot of solutions. And then you hear a screech in the distance- another bird?- and suddenly your body is moving on it's own, and now the door is only so many splinters. Also, it makes a loud noise, that's probably not a good thing when there are monsters about.
At least there's not any coffins nearby, inside or out. And you still don't see anything that could pose much of a threat to you, so you scurry back inside and up to your room, where you promptly shut the door behind you and curl up in bed, intent on not opening your eyes until the night is over.
In the morning, nobody really knows what to make of the shattered door. Yourself included. You still don't really know what happened there, but you feel guilty about it regardless. You still don't have a new pillow or chair, and now they have to replace the door.
Come to think of it, every time you've been in the green time since that blue girl gave you her... request... has ended destructively. The bird, the chair, the door... are you just incapable of going through the night without breaking something?
You need to fix that. And you need to do it soon, before you inconvenience anyone more than you already have, or break something that can't be replaced.
Your plan?
[ ] There has to be a book in the library about this kind of thing, right?
[ ] Talk to people. If anyone else experiences the green time, surely they have the same problems that you do.
[ ] Keep practicing with your powers in your room. You'll have to get it right eventually.
