[x] "...Mementos?"

Maybe if we learn enough to tell Mitsuru more interesting things Menmentos, maybe she'll mention it to her father and the kirijo group might start to study it and maybe P5 won't be as hard for the phantom thieves.

We aren't going to remember it though, and diving to the heart of things overly directly is something that our QM has called out twice now.

Guys, we're being insensitive again.
Harumph! I have yet to see any psychological issues that were solved by tiptoeing arond the problem.

Only half of the above statement is a joke. It's the half that implies that being insensitive is as likely to help people IRL as it is in (fan)fiction.

I also remember her mentioning that the progress is slow because we (the readers) are too afraid to take the "risky" option. That might have been the other quest, though.

Yeah I don't think that's the problem here.

Okay, good, let's get moving.

Let's just... jump straight to the big question with little to no preamble, because that's basically how Ken does things when he doesn't have a personal emotional attachment to them.

The whole directly to the throat approach actually shut down the conversation with Yukiko.

And so, let's keep talking to Morgana.

I see Ken is falling back into the habits of his nine-year-old self. Still, everyone is, generally, better off mentally than they were when Ken was nine, so maybe it won't be too bad?

And the thing with Ken at the age of nine is in quest we had this behavior:

Honestly, my capacity for surprise was sort of tapped out when I had to explicitly say to be nice to the suicidal person. That was probably the low point of the quest so far.

So... Yeah.

I'm not a person who knows what they're doing when it comes to communication, so I'll trust you on this. I still believe that blunt approach is effective, especially if the other person knows your inte...

Tha-at's probably it. (Most of) these people are barely above acquaintances, they don't know Ken's questions have good itentions. They aren't close enough for a blunt approach. I think.

All right. Nice, simple, hard to disagree with.

Morgana's issues can maybe be revisited later, once things have actually been given the chance to progress.

Washing the Roses White- Part 17
"Yeah, I don't... really think Shadows do well with flowers, when they're not part of them," You find yourself agreeing with Morgana. While there's plenty of flowers scattered throughout this floor, a number of which you have given a thorough introduction to the concept of a watering can, you just find the whole concept of growing plants to be foreign to the idea of Shadows. "I mean, I don't think they'd try to mess with them, but..."

Junpei-san nods along sagely. "Don't really seem like they have green thumbs, do they?"

"I feel like, if we tried fighting them somewhere with a lot of plants, they'd end up on fire," Makoto-san agrees. You can definitely see where he'd get that idea. It's a pretty vivid mental picture.
Fortunately, we live far enough away from any wildlife it should be just fine.
...You don't find this reassuring in the slightest. You're not even sure you're meant to.

"They could also freeze," Akihiko-san points out. "I don't think that's good for plants, either."

Yukari-san blinks. "...Can't lightning set trees on fire?"

From here, the conversation segues into what kinds of magic everyone thinks would be most dangerous to somebody's garden. Fire and ice end up being the clear winners by a wide margin, though some of them think that your Psi or Aigis-san's Frei might be similarly destructive.
It might be easier to convince them if they were weak to them...
You're unable to convince anyone that Bless is a suitably dangerous element against plants. If you ever run into a plantlike Shadow, you plan on laughing and casting Hama on it.

That'll show them.

After a bit more wandering into dead ends, and a bit of worrying about what happens when Makoto-san steals a flower from the Labyrinth that doesn't melt on contact, with Morgana declaring that, so long as the flower doesn't turn into a monster, it's not his problem, you all come to a door.

"You should be careful," Fuuka-san says, before anyone can reach through said door. "There's FOEs on the other side. One, two... three of them!"
Oh. This.
Three FOEs... that's three more than you really needed to deal with. Three more than anyone could be expected to deal with, even if Fuuka-san says she thinks you could take them. Or... well, individually. You don't think she's said anything about your ability to handle multiple of them.

"We have the map," Junpei-san says. "We could just... go back and figure things out?"

"It'd be a pretty long walk," Yukari-san points out. "I mean, if you want to do it, go ahead, but..."

Chidori-san pauses, as though she's concentrating on something. "...If we end up having to fight, they're arranged so we could deal with them one at a time. They... don't seem likely to come to each others' aid." Well, that's something, at least. You aren't sure how helpful that'd be, but... well, given how you're the one who can most attempt stealth, you guess it's good to have the option.

When the door opens, you see a pond in front of you, across from which is a rosebush. There are also two bushes next to you on either side. Each bush has an FOE patrolling near it, cans filled with splashing paint that drips like blood.

As you're the one carrying the watering can, you suppose it's your choice how to go about this.

Just started Persona Q, and enjoying the story thus far! Wondering when they're going to meet the Persona 4 Gang soon as well as hoping this course of action doesn't end up with us fighting FOEs.

Not sure if I should actually be voting right now (considering how sick I am) but... *shrug*

Washing the Roses White- Part 18
With the way that the FOEs are moving, there's always one spot open to either side of you, to the left or to the right. This space is not left open for very long, but it's certainly enough time for a person to slip through, particularly if your main goal is the rosebush.

"Are you sure you want to do this by yourself?" Fuuka-san asks. She is, by far, the person who is the most concerned about you doing this, at least outwardly.

You nod. "If it doesn't work, it's better than putting everyone else in danger, right?" Besides. They're just cards. And you've been told that, if you all work together, it should be possible to defeat one, so it's not like being seen means instant death.
...Remind me again how I ever made it to my twelfth birthday.
"Guess we can't really stop you..." Makoto-san sighs, like those words mean anything from somebody who you have yet to hear tell anyone no.

Really, if Mitsuru-san or Akihiko-san told you to let someone else handle it, you'd happily agree, but you've unfortunately already made the point of being small enough to slip past most opponents without a problem, and that's not logic they're prepared to argue with, so you're left wondering why you haven't had a growth spurt yet, and also why you had to remind people of how short you are.

But. Words don't matter, right now. Actions do. And the action you take is to wait for the FOE on your left to turn away from you, once again, and run as quickly as you can.

While this room has more space actively being patrolled by FOEs than space that is not, there are still wide areas of safe space at the corners of the room. A scale appears in front of you, but you obliterate it with lightning without even thinking about it. Sometimes, it's a surprise that the Shadows here even bother trying to fight you.
You'd think instinctual creatures would have some sense of self-preservation, at least...
With the pacing that the FOEs take, it's only another dash to reach the rosebush. You can feel the presence of all three Painting Soldiers as you throw water all over the flowers, and watch the paint splatter on the ground, where it fades away.

This does the work of distracting the FOE that is on, from the entrance, the right side of the room. It hasn't noticed you hiding on the other side of the bush, but you don't think you can get past the other FOE twice more in order to reach another bush. And it's clear that at least one more bush will have to be unpainted.

Therefore, you turn to the others, silently signal to them to be prepared, and throw the watering can across the pond, where it is caught by...
