...Re-reading this quest now that I've actually played Honkai and have a much better understanding of what's going on has been a real trip, I have to say.

[X] Recover Roza's sword
[X] Relax. Go back to the village. Collapse in a heap
[X] Talk to each other. Reassure yourself it's done, you're safe, they're all still here
[X] Talk to your sisters
- [X] About Veliona's past. What there is of it.
- [X] About the Dragon.

What's happening with Roza and Liliya is more Einstein's field than Seele's, I think? I'm not sure there's much she/they can say beyond 'this sure is a thing that is happening'. Though er, the Dragon might be a bit disturbing in that light.

Talk to each other / Talk to your sisters are both kind of the... same vote? Not sure what the difference between them is.

Talking to Rubia is also important but at the same time it has been an utter day.

One of them is "Talk about important stuff". The other is explicitly not—it's chatting about nothing of meaningful consequence, like the game they played two weeks ago, or Seele's propensity to cheat at hide and seek, or literally anything except the stuff that's stressing them out.

Accordingly, they can't do both at once. You can still vote for both of them, but only one of the two conversations will happen (at a time).

In order:
  1. Deploy tactical sisterlies reassurances
    1. Chat about everyone's favorite new sport, "Kick around a black hole with our terrified new quantum worm-thingy pets inside of it"
    2. Plan Operation Khvorost. The objective: obtain, through underhanded means, sweet baked goods to sacrifice unto Roza's ceaseless hunger.
  2. Rest, for goodness' sake.
  3. Retrieve Sleeper's Dream.
  4. Chat with Carole. Eat. Optionally sleep some more.
  5. Have serious sisterlies talks.
    1. Nomenclature
      1. Nicknames
  6. Deploy tactical distraction measures to divert Rubia from important topics
    1. Onto the subject of teasing/being teased by younger sisterlies.
  7. Frantically avoid heavy conversations with RubiaBuild bridges with the villagers to ease the tensions of the inevitable evacuation.
    1. Go make friends with Carole's friend.

Ok, so, I'm going to have to make a plea here as regards this vote.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, leave the trauma buttons alone for like...the next day or two in-quest? Those in specific being Vel's past, the Dragon, and pretty much everything else directly related to it. Because at this point @Baughn will make me write it, and I really just want to get to the actual vacation instead of having to wade through god only knows how many words of attempting to tackle the metaphysical and existential trainwrecks that represent half the currently available cast's underlying emotional states.

Just...give the girls a break?

Please?

Basically cutting out the serious talk from Thelxiope's vote. Because serious talk is forbidden. Sorry, it was outlawed until everyone is better. Haha, what do you mean what am I talking about? Everything is fine! Also I'm still not convinced black holes are safe for sporting events, but that might just be a me thing.

'Cecily,' Vel said, in your head. You blinked.

You missed whatever Liliya said next, because Veliona continued, sounding gleeful. 'If Seele's a collective noun, then it can't be your name. Cecily. That one's good.'

'...what?'

''Darling little lostling'. That's what it means in my language, or if I wanted to get poetic, 'The little butterfly that flutters between hurricanes'.'
Smug. She sounded smug. "'Butterfly taken by the storm', maybe. Your personality is going off the rails.'
This has fascinating implications.

Cecily and assorted variants (Cecilia, Sheila, Celia) are Current-Era names, which trace back through a chain of etymology from Latin caecus, 'blind'; to Proto-Italic *kaikos, 'eyeless'; all the way to Proto-Indo-European *káykos, 'one-eyed'.

This, evidently, shares a remarkable similarity, both in sound and meaning, to - I have no idea what to call 'the language spoken in Previous Era Australia', which is evidently where Seele lived [c.f. chapter 6.9]. Lemurian? Mu was a thing in the Previous Era and I have no idea what the adjective of Mu is but Lemuria is sort of like Mu, so- the Lemurian name Cecily - 'Darling Little Lostling'; which presumably traces from a Proto-Lemurian root (there is no possible way to reconstruct this with any hint of rigor but what the hell just as a wild guess for fun, let's say ... *saisas, maybe?) for 'lost.'

And, like

look there is an obvious doylist connection here which is, um, a long story involving the goths and my hobby of making tatterpig character sheets for stuff but let's ignore that who cares full watsonian mode ahead; so

I do wish to stress that false cognates are a thing. It is possible, and does actually happen, that two completely unrelated languages can end up with the same word for something just by weird frickin' coincidence.

But that is, in this particular context, boring; because the alternative is suggesting that -

That Lemurian, that the Language Seele spoke, is Proto-Proto-Indo-European; in much the same way as "whatever the fuck language Fu Hua, Nuwa, and Fuxi spoke" is presumably Proto-Proto-Sino-Tibetan.

I dunno, I just thought that was neat.

I'm happy to state that it is. Furthermore, that Australia was created as a prison colony, by a certain European nation, and that Seele and her family moved there much more recently. They didn't stay—I've named the city they moved to later.

But, um. Consider also that the capital city of this version of Australia, is "Sydney".
