AN: Ok it is time for me to come clean a bit, all the choices you have made so far have been affecting your character's skills and abilities. The choices here will be far more blatant though. You have just been gaining skills and abilities overall after the character creation and background choices. The character you started with would not have been skilled enough for beacon lol! 
I will show the skills and abilities you gained after the whole intro process is over.
In any case, your choices in the forest and right here affect you more than anything so far! So be warned and consider everything going forward carefully!

Arriving at the locker room ahead of everyone, Lux quickly goes to his locker and begins to take out the equipment you had stored in there in preparation for initiation. In it was your blade as well as an assortment of goods for you to use, they were....

"Hi Ozpin, it's been awhile." You state as you arrive at the cliff overlooking the Emerald Forest. "With initiation starting soon I figured you would be here with a touch of free time. Thought I would ask if there is any info on the Grimm currently in the forest that you are willing to tell me about."
"mmmm" Ozpin begins taking a sip of his coffee as he considers. "Currently in the forest the only notable Grimm we have found are an Alpha Beringal, an Alpha Deathstalker and an Alpha Nevermore. Though there has been signs of something a bit more threatening in the forest. Though we have yet to confirm any direct sighting of it, it is likely there is an Alpha King Taijitu in the forest, possibly even a lesser Hydra given the number of trails. I would watch yourself out there young Lux."
"I see... sounds pretty bad, I assume you will intervene if the Hydra factor is true and it attacks?" You inquire. "Also has there been any news about the Queen and here group?"
"Of course we will intervene if that happens. However we cannot get there instantly and you and the other students will have to hold it off until we do if it happens." Ozpin gives a mild look of recrimination for doubting him. " As for the Queen, there has been some minor news, but the students should be arriving at any moment. I will call you to my office in a few days and we can update you on the whole situation then."
"Thank you Ozpin." You state as you ready yourself moving away as the first students begin to arrive.

After all the students arrive Ozpin and Glynda begin to instruct them on what will happen going forward.
"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Ozpin begins
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today." Glynda continues
"What? Ohhh..." You hear Ruby groan.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well." Ozpin informs everyone smiling as he sips from his coffee"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."
"Whaaaat?!" Ruby Screams out.
"See? I told you-!" someone else says
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die." Ozpin finishes. "You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"
"Yeah, um, sir?" Jaune asks raising his hand.
"Good! Now, take your positions." Ozpin orders ignoring Juane.
Everyone begins strikes a pose on their tile. Nora crouches low, Ren wields his weapons, Yang raises her fists, Ruby readies her body, and Jaune is still raising his hand. You however have your wings tucked in but ready to spread as needed with a feral grin formed on your face.
"Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question." Jaune states not noticing Weiss being launched into the forest. "So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?"
"No. You will be falling." Ozpin answers
"Oh, uh, I see... So, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?" Jaune asks completely oblivious to students being launched out one after the other.
"No. You will be using your own 'landing strategy.'"
"Uh-huh... Yeah." Jaune falters confused just before he flies off. "So, what exactly is a landing strategYYY!..."
Finally your turn comes and you are launched, however unlike everyone else you can choose exactly where you land thanks to your wings.
Where do you go? This is not part of the Plan and will be counted separately!

ummm ok dude, the dust is not usable for any kind of ability. Its only value is its ability to boost your sword or a gun if you choose one.
And a vial also only has enough for a single clip too. (or about 2 minutes of use for the sword.)
The crystal is for the spells.
secondly, just in case you did not realize, the pistol option can be used alongside your whip sword whereas with the rifle you would need to outright switch weapons. Though the rifle IS stronger than the pistol.
oh ya, you were only originally supposed to encounter a Benigal to fight..... now you need to deal with something REALLY strong.
Like here is a rough rating system (more in depth in the future) in order from weakest to strongest
G->F->E->D->C->B->A->S
beowolf: range from G-F before going Alpha
Boarbatusk: range from F-E before going Alpha
Ravager: range from G-F before going Alpha
King Taijutu: range from E-D before going Alpha
Deathstalker: range from D-C before going Alpha
Nevermore: range from D-C before going Alpha
Benigal: range from D-C before going Alpha
Ursa: range from C-B before going Alpha
Lancer: range from C-B before going Alpha
Queen Lancer: range from B-A before going Alpha
Gryphon: range from B-A before going Alpha
Sphinx: range from B-A before going Alpha

Um.....
at full power and till the brink of death how strong is the mc in rankings alone

atm with the skills and equipment your about to get? your about a very high C+ level threat. your main weakness is if an enemy gets into hand to hand range then you get fkd as you lack both escape and ability to fight there.
Ruby? about a C+ level threat same for the rest of RWBY.
Jaune is about E level threat once he gets his aura. Nora and Ren are both C level threats. Pyrrha is at a B level threat.
Cardin is about D+ level threat. Russel is a E+ threat. Dove is about D level threat.
As teams your power is greatly amplified, though a large part of that relies on team training and how well fighting styles mesh together.
RWBY atm? they are collectively about a B level threat. By the point of just before Beacon fall though? they are an A+ threat when each member is only about a C+ or B in terms on individual threat.
JNPR atm is collectively a high B+ level threat whereas just before Beacon fall? they rank at A+ whereas Pyrrha is a high B+ level threat Nora and Ren are both C+ threats bordering on B level threats and Jaune is a D+ rank threat
team CRDL with you on it right now? and the likely complete lack of teamwork? you are collectively a very high B threat and only because you match up so well with them in terms of fighting style. The other 3 become perfect minion meatshields boosted by you to tank enemy attacks and keep them off you while you lay down the hurt. If they were to work together with you properly though at your current strengths? you would be a solid B+ level threat.

WELP ik what we need to do know
1.Bond fast/ gain our future teammates trust to where they'll listen to us
2. Work them to the bone so individually should be able to handle ATLEAST B class threat while also helping the others
low A class if we can manage that some how
3. Prevent the death of pyrrha and reduce the casualties when beacon falls
So our team, JNPR and RWBY need to be able to drive off S class threats
Ik that's a VERY tall order but
It's to gain advantage againts salem after beacon falls

I would like to remind people you guys that I did a major foreshadowing of events to come (aka you WILL be fighting a Hydra which is basically the whole several King Taijutu merged together and power boosted by a ton with all the powers of Hydras in myths.)
So umm..... keep that in mind going forward eh? also vote will close tomorrow at some point, likely the evening as I will be busy in the morning. Plus it will give you all extra time to look at all your options and reconsider them to make sure you will survive.... cause plot armor? it ain't a thing here, Anyone could end up dead here, even Ruby.

its ok I understand lol!
But ya that is one of the two main uses for crystals. Big machines and Dustcasting. There are several other uses but those are the two main ones.
That is why you will always need crystals instead of just regular dust.
