I really want to help Damir out. The guy is great and I love his scenes.

Another great update with too many good options...the curse of a great quest. Only 4 winning options

[X] Provide refiner's creations to Damir and his faction
Honestly I like the idea of fighting with Damir here however I think that could get politically messy. Here we provide needed help and do it in our specialty and in a way that at least on the surface looks like business as normal between the factions. After all commissions are taken for anyone who could pay the price...that's all Keras is doing right?

[X] Travel to the Forest Sage with Underlord Cheng
The big payoff for all the work we've done. The meeting with more foreign factions and our first official meeting with those beyond the level of Underlord...lots of potential goodies here.

[X] Following the clues you have, you head underground
Keras investigating the anomaly they found with the added context of what most likely created it? Yes!, also while Keras has not been having big problems with the Life/Death dichotomy as of yet that doesn't mean it couldn't become a problem later. As people have pointed out for a much as we use Death madra it still feels like more of a 90/10 split the something like 50/50 and as we move towards a more balanced build and grow into Highgold a beyond thats where real trouble might crop up.

[X] Meet with a Luxe oracle to see what you can still learn
I still think we should have added Dream. But even if we never head fully down that path I think Keras should still do what they can to keep the weird insights and drabs of inexplicable knowledge that is kinda their trademark going.

All of the other choices are good and the only two I'd really be sad to miss are meeting the Sage and the Oracle study. But only because the Oracle stuff is timelocked and even if we could theoreticly meet the Sage later, the context of being there when Chang presents his great work and being someone who helped make that possible will be missing.

I just really really really want Oracle stuff. It's the last chance to pick it up. Etaja mentioned it would be useful. Oracle stuff seems really neat and seeing how a Life-Death path does it would be cool.

I am against it because other things seemed inmediatly more important in my opinion.
Gonna be a real knife fight for 4th place. Poor Damir might not make it in.
Unfortunately, at this rate, I don't think it will make it. To many are voting for the oracle stuff.
I can only hope next rotation we do get Damir options too, but it seemed according to the text that voting here will spell how much we get involved with him. And as I said, I do want that refinement in our Striker desesperatly. I don't even know of we will get another chance at it next rotation, but I hope we do.

The "parents have discovered something" choice is obviously our final chance to ping onto the Dreadgod plotline before it actually sets off, since IIRC VagueZ has previously said that the weird Remnant issue in the Silent Hinterlands was directly related to the Labyrinth/Dreadgod situation.

I think the forest sage is the option that is honestly least useful to us, and most pointless to pursue. It offers us nothing but a glimpse of people of higher power and gives Keras and Etaja some hints for the far future; but like... we are gonna see a Monarch in action in a couple months, when Malice has to appear to redirect the Dreadgod away from her territory, similarly to how she did so in canon for the bleeding Phoenix.

I don't think the Sage is gonna be particularly interested in us, we are unlikely to be given undue rewards, at most it's a glimpse into the Wasteland which every canon look at sucked and was terrible.

I dunno, maybe there's something big we will gain and I'll eat my shorts. But I just don't see why it's so popular to have run away with the vote like it did.

I think it's mostly just narrative payoff. Cheng's storyline has been consistently focused on the elixir, to the point he even spares Risshon specifically so he can keep working on it.

I just think it would be a bit disappointing to finish the elixir and then have it delivered off-screen.

Will delivering the elixir and meeting the Forest Sage help Keras' advancement? Probably not. But I just think it'll be cool.

That's sort of fair, but I feel like that's the payoff of 'chengs' desire from the Storyline. Keras got tied to Cheng not to make the elixir, but because they wanted Beti, and then we stuck with Cheng because we wanted to learn refining more properly, but it never felt like 'making the elixir' was something we were particularly focused on; it was our chore to keep Beti. The only time a vote related to the elixir won was to keep it out of enemy hands, it's not like we were spending actions pursuing making the Elixir more quickly or learning more about the depths of its design.

It's definitely the culmination of an arc, but it feels like it's that for Cheng; we already had our culmination of that arc in having the deed to Beti.

o_O
So basically, you are just ignoring what most of the people in this thread have been saying for literal months.
Got it.

Not ignoring, but most of the interest in the forest sage is 'well he's tied to Northstrider' stuff and as pointed out, ties to a monarch faction don't matter until way later from now, and I don't think most people in the thread are interested Northstrider to begin with? That's a small but vocal part of the thread.

That seems pretty accurate. Getting a peek a Labyrinth stuff would be neat, in the long term I'd like Keras to go down there because it can give a lot of benefits.

I mean, 30 seconds of passing attention from a Sage could result in a tip that massively advances Keras' understanding of life madra and how to wield it in their techniques. On top of anything Etaja picks up about advancement and Sages' connection to the Way and any potential inroads to the wasteland faction that people want as an alternative to the somewhat fraught route to the UKT by opposing the canon protagonists. And I just want to see the Sage's reaction to Cheng centering his life's ambition around recreating a shadow of his work and succeeding.

Getting a look at a Life Sage do their thing even casually, or seeing them in a baseline state would be educational for both Keras and Etaja. For Keras it'll let them see the near pinnacle of Life Arts, for Etaja it'll let him see how Cradle people are introduced to Authority and the Way through Icons. All of which are useful even if we don't want to go down the path of the Northstrider network/faction for the UKT.

Yeah, I mean, short of getting some time with Emriss there probably isn't a better life artist on the planet that I'm aware of.
