Riverdale is the worst show on television and you should all be watching.

Before we get to the parent rankings, can I get a hell yeah! for the Natural Order of the Universe sort of being restored?

-Anyways, Hermione Lodge is Best Mom for helping Ronnie do an end run around Hiram (though I'm not sure why Ronnie didn't push for better terms; Hiram needs the Wyrm more than she needs Pop's), but I'm not actually sure who is Worst Mom; Penelope Blossom is objectively a worse person and a worse mother than Alice Cooper, but she doesn't really do anything objectionable Mom-wise in this episode, and arguably does something positive in trying to keep Cheryl away from the Wyrm during the raid, whereas Alice is a total mess who needs Betty to take care of her.

-Best Dad, of course, is Fred Andrews, though FP Jones, Jr. has some good moments. Again, I'm not sure who is Worst Dad; Hal Cooper is objectively a worse father than Hiram Lodge, but he only did a little bit of terrible Dad-ing this episode, whereas Hiram...well.

-Also, losing the Mayorship has been the best thing to happen to Sierra McCoy as a character; she's been consistently awesome since she left office.

-Also, also, I can't help but imagining Cheryl doing the Serpent Dance, does that make me a bad person?

I have to say the past few episodes were actually good TV. I was genuinely guessing about the Black Hood because there were a few possibilities, the plot moved forwards rapidly and whilst it falls apart once you think about it and Hiram could have won whilst being a lot less stupid and ruthless it does a good job of pulling all the widely divergant threads from the first half of the season back into the story.

Cheryl is actually kind of awesome these days.

And the Serpent storyline actually has them feel like you should be rooting for them for a change instead of wondering why you care about the underdogs who just wreck shit, sell drugs, kidnap teenagers and maim people. It probably helps that the worst ones are dead or out of town now so you're left with the baby snakes and the old and hangers on with nowhere else to go. Less of a gang than a bunch of poor people being burned out of their homes.

Jug has actually been a decent person, fairly intelligent, good friend and his plans and ideas either make sense or come from a good place. 100% less annoying and him being crowned King Snake makes sense in universe this time.

Not sure if anybody posted this yet, thought you guys might get a laugh out of it.

I don't know wth is with this show. It's such a mess, but it's as addicting as crack.
Because it's a bizarre, psychosexual-murder-mystery neo-noir-crime-drama gothic-horror fever dream of a show that is somehow still recognizably Archie?

Anyways, Parent Rankings! Hiram Lodge is Worst Dad. I'm...not sure who gets Best Dad; that last scene makes it impossible to tell if FP trying to get Betty and Jughead to quit with the investigation is good or bad parenting until we get more information. The fact that Moose's dad sole interaction is to call him "Cadet Mason" could be bad parenting, but it could simply be an attempt to not show favoritism, we don't know enough about the man.

Best Mom is, I think Hermione, given that she's quietly backing Ronnie's play, which by default makes Alice Cooper Worst Mom, because we have no way of knowing what is actually going on with her and the Farm stuff and...whatever that secret meeting in the Mayor's office was about.

BTW, I think the actress playing Evelyn Evernever is familiar to me from something, but I don't know what and will probably be kicking myself when I do.

I think Sheriff Keller (or ex-Sheriff I guess) has done a pretty good job in the dad department.
Yes, but he isn't Dad'ing in this episode. Like, he doesn't even interact with Kevin once.

Anyways, question; since Ronnie owns Pops, why is she working there as a waitress? Also, is the actor who played Pop Tate off the show?

Also, I found out where I know Evelyn from; she was Gracie on Orphan Black! Which means that she's apparently been typecast as daughter-of-a-cult-leader.

Thought; so, does the existence of Gryphons & Gargoyles means we're going to pretend last season's references to...I think it was Swords & Serpents didn't happen?

It could always be a Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder thing where one is essentially just an extension of the other despite technically being a different thing.

Makes sense.

Asides from G&G being evil while S&S is innocuous.

(side note: I wonder what kids at Riverdale High who actually want to play S&S do, given that the S&S Club is the Serpents)
