May "This is a dream right?" Zedong
Airship to Shade, Vacuo
Pretty sure it's morning

This is pretty in-depth for a dream. But this being real is impossible, I hope. Becoming a fictional character raises...a lot of questions, Either way, play along until you have more information.

"I don't think my Semblance is that good, maybe some day I'll be skilled enough to do that though. Still, it sounds like an interesting story, maybe you can tell me about some more stories you know later?"

If we're heading to Shade Academy a hologram like the one everyone going to Beacon has should show up, right? Or maybe Shade does it differently. I'm also kinda not sure what else to say. I could ask if she'd like to try to be on the same team if she doesn't say anything else to pick up the conversation.

@Xalgeon
Just as you think that, an image springs to life in front of the biggest window on the Airship of a man in hard-wearing jeans held up by a golden belt with a gun-holster and tucked into black-and-gold cowboy boot. For a top he had on a tight, black v-neck which made most of the girls and even some of the boys swoon, hidden by a gold vest-jacket. on his hands were dark brown fingerless gloves with black padding over his knuckles. Atop his shaggy red hair sat a black cowboy hat, completing the image.

Then he spoke, and although his words were just a friendly greating, nobody dared not listen...

... For when one of the Lost Barons spoke, you listened.

"Howdy Partners! Ya'll know me; The Golden Lost Baron, Aurum Chaparral. Well, ya'll be gettin' ta know all us lovely Barons real well over the next four years or so, depending how ya'll do, since we'll be ya teachers at good ol' Shade, where ya'll be landing in no time. Myself personally? I'm the Deputy Headmaster ta our lovely Thea Silber, The Lost Viscount herself, and ya firearms instructor, lucky you eh?

Now before I leave ya be, I've been informed we have a lil' prodigy in our midsts. Brier Fawn made such big strides in her Dust Studies over at our buddy Screen, they put her up for our entrance exams a whole year early. And guess what? She passed with flyin' colours! Nobody's managed that since our own Black Baron, Vito Notte, twenty years ago! So give her a warm welcome! And before I forget;

Welcome to Shade Academy!"

As the hologram was speaking, Brier was fading more and more into her seat looking positively terrified. So as the rest of the students turned towards you, you saw two choices;

One; Abandon her to her fate and save yourself...

Or two; Stick around and help the poor girl out of this mess.

"Yup! That's me, Neon Katt, future huntress, actual living Cat Goddess and all around badass! I never miss a beat... how'd you know of me?"

@Sketchy Lurker

Actual living... you know what, we take those, I guess. I don't really remember Neon too much, but who knows. I do seem to have become a background character, so I might as well take it in stride. Or at least, to some extent.

"Cat goddess, eh? Haven't met many faunus with that kind of attitude. Good on ya, 'specially here in Atlas. I honestly haven't heard too much about ya, but some of the guys I play with brought you up in the past, and, gal, you're certainly distinctive. I don't think I've heard about you fighting before! That a new thing?"

Yay! Weapons! That aren't mine! Weee!

I got really close and personal with Myrtenaster, my nose hovering inches away from the triangular blade. "That is a most exquisite piece of weaponry, Weiss! I imagine it took a lot of work to make! What made you choose a rapier, though? Most Hunters I see choose heftier blade configurations!"

"Nope! I've always been a fighter, ever since I was an itty bitty kitty" I smile and laugh, I always enjoyed using that line. "As for my cattitude? Well, I'm never gonna win if I defeat myself before the fight starts am i right, or am i right? Hint... I'm always right."

I strike a pose and flex, gotta make an impression.

"Besides, I'm the kinda person who always has to get their licks in. Ooh ooh! Wait, you said you played with some guys? What like a sport?! Or music? I mean... you've definitely got that vibe going all, Mr. Blues." I giggled poking him in the chest, taking in his attire.

He does not look different at all from what I saw in the Vytal Festival, guess he had a bad case of fictional one pair of clothes syndrome... I think I should change that... Nyaha Nyahhahaha!

Well, the Barons at Shade are certainly interesting. Considering my gun's main mode of attack is a rifle, I'd probably see the Golden Lost Baron a lot. Much as I'd like to take some time to think about this guy some more, I have more pressing concerns. Namely the fact Brier seems to be about to have a heart attack.

I can't just leave her here alone, but what can I do about an airship full of students who are going to want to talk to her? It's not like we can leave until we land, so that option's gone. Just telling them to leave her alone also wouldn't work. Comforting her? I'm not sure what else there is to do...

"Hey, Brier," I begin softly, "Brier, look at me. You don't like attention and you just got a bunch, we can't change that, and hiding in your chair probably won't help. They probably won't do much other than tell you you're impressive anyway. I'll be here to help you deal with this if you want."

One thing's certain, as soon as I can I need to tell that guy that he shouldn't draw much attention to Brier if possible.

I got really close and personal with Myrtenaster, my nose hovering inches away from the rectangular blade. "That is a most exquisite piece of weaponry, Weiss! I imagine it took a lot of work to make! What made you choose a rapier, though? Most Hunters I see choose heftier blade configurations!"

With a surprised expression, I try to pull back, Penny's face being rather uncomfortably close to me, considering that my weapon is on my lap. I have to consciously remind myself that she might not know yet about that thing regarding personal space. Still, I can't help but get this sense of pride at her praise.

Heftier blades? Oh, right, I once thought rapiers were lightweight too. Time to put that newly gained knowledge to use, but that's still a good question. What inspired Weiss to pick up the rapier?

The answer comes to mind, which is, once more, not a guess, but what I feel is Weiss's actual reason, one that reminds me of Ruby.

"Actually, a rapier is as heavy as other one-handed swords, like that one over there." I point towards the sheathed Crocea Mors a distance away. "The blade of mine may be thinner, but it's also longer, and the hilt can be a bit weighty as well." That would make me stronger than I thought if Weiss is able to wield it so easily.

I continue, this time with a bit of a warm smile. "As for why I chose it? I was inspired by my sister, Winter. She uses a dueling saber with an extra sword within it, both containing Dust, and the way she wielded them like a fencer appealed to me. She helped me learn how to fight, and was there when Myrtenaster came to be. To make the weapon my own, I used hers as a base and modified it."

I then add one more thing at the end. "Oh, and some personal space, please?"

The more I talk, the more I'm getting used to my new voice...

((Really, Weiss did base Myrtenaster off of Winter's weapon, according to the wiki and the Volume 3 DVD Director's Commentary. Not so different from Ruby and the scythe, eh?))

"Yeah, I'll go." I wondered how my rhythmic sense would combine with Velvet's Faunus agility and how well I could dance with it. And whether her - my - Semblance would work with dance moves.
As nobody else seems to offer anything, I take Velvet's Scroll and begin researching the local culture, trying to see how it differs from both my culture and Velvet's memories.

Seeing everyone on this airship have such personal weapons made me shift uneasily. Maybe I should make a Keyblade then or should I just re-forge my Crying Abyss Gauntlets and become Xalgeon properly again?

Turning to Weiss, I tapped her on the shoulder. "I'm sorry for interrupting, but can I borrow you for a second Ms. Weiss? I need your advice on something." Flicking my eyes subtly at Dove and Penny, I hoped she got the message it was a personal matter.

Huh? What's with the formalities? And while I know it's fitting right now to be referred to as Miss, it's not something I'm used to, though it doesn't feel completely new to me for some reason.

Letting out an explosive sigh when the other two left, I let my body relax. "I bloody hate acting, Superior knows how I'll last at Beacon."

Sitting back down, I turned to the White Princess. "I think you talking about Winter Inspiring Myrtenaster helped me narrow my weapon choices down to one of two options."

'Superior knows'? An interesting turn of phrase. He really was roleplaying as an Organization member before.

"So, what do you have in mind?"

As a side note, I'd be amused if Ruby overheard us at some point. I know she'd love to join in if she did.

When I used to be.....me. I had-no have a major anger problem. Or is it had? I could never care for tense.

That aside sitting here listening to their mindless chatter is really grating on my nerves. I know it is necessary but it still annoys me. Glynda had supposedly already given her suggestions so it was time for the other teachers to give their two cents.

Which only caused my 'f***k it' metre to rise.

*sigh*

"Uh, I can't wait to get out of here." I whispered to myself. I really wanted to test out this body and get some more answers. Was Glynda still there in my head? Would she slowly take me over? Was there others like me here?

If the last one is true I would be hard pressed to find out since they most likely wouldn't just jump out and say it.

*sigh*

"What a drag." I said mostly to my self leaning against a wall. My anger now tightly constrained leaving only cold soft apathy.

Wait did I say that out loud? Hope that they're too caught up to notice.

Not that I would care too much. Everything lost its luster a few minutes ago anyway.

Tilting my head back, I take a long breath before explaining. "Well, looking at all the weapons here, they're all either momentos to someone important to the wielders or deeply symbolic of their wielders. So it seems silly for me to pick up a random weapon when I already have two that fit the bill, one for each criterion; I can either make a palette swap of the Aubade Keyblade to represent Xion or re-forge my Zero Gear Gauntlets, Crying Abyss and bring back Xalgeon properly."

Hm? Is that really a pattern here? Let's see...

Ruby's scythe is inspired by Qrow's, and the latter did teach her how to fight. Blake, like her former mentor Adam, uses a sword and a weaponized scabbard. Taiyang's weapon has yet to be seen, but since he taught Yang how to fight, he probably uses gauntlets like Yang does. Jaune's sword and shield is an ancestral weapon. The bladed part of Ren's StormFlower is patterned after the knife given to him by his father. Lastly, Nora's Magnhild would be inspired by that small wooden hammer Ren gave her before.

Like what Ruby said, a weapon is an extension of oneself, a part of its wielder, so it's fitting that the weapon would hold a significant connection to the wielder in some way.

So, as for whether to take the Keyblade or the gauntlets... "Maybe you could do both? I mean, I see no problem with wearing the gauntlets and holding the keyblade at the same time. If you want, you could modify them like adding a hidden blade to your gauntlets or a gun to your keyblade."

Shaking my head, I chuckle. "Nah, that wouldn't work. The ways we all faught were incompatible together. Sure, we could all hotswap weapons on a dime with various degrees of success, but we could never fuse styles. Also, all my Gauntlets have claws on them already."

Oh well, getting both is out, so I think the deciding factor would be which is more distinctive, since he also wants to distance himself from the Wizard.

"Okay then, I would suggest the clawed gauntlets. They're farther from Ozpin's cane than the keyblade, and since they remind you of your other identity, you could use that to assert your individuality. You could then wear something else that can remind you of Xion."

Hearing that, I close my eyes and dive into myself...

...
...
...

Falling...

Spiralling...

Soaring!

Landing on my feet in the echoing void again after so long felt both unnerving amd comforting. Now, where is--

`Well well, it's been a long time Actor. Nine years of silence before even admitting to me, Are you ashamed of me?`

What, no! of course not! It's just not normal--

`SO WHAT?! When has your life ever been normal Actor? Diagnosed with Death at two and a half, Seven years in hospital, Local celebrity at eight, Virtually skipping primary school, Two medical deaths by seven, Tell me if any of this sounds normal to you Actor`

No... no, your right. It isn't...

`Then why hide me Actor?`

I... I wanted to fit in... I didn't know who I was in the real world and I was growing up. I thought adults were funny, but couldn't have any childish hobbies or interest. That's why I wouldn't watch any anime or play any `fun` video games for years until I joined Sufficient Velocity and I met my true friends; Balefire, Novus, Ark, Ube, Sablonus, Theaxofwar... Thanks to them, I'm who I am today.

`Oh? And who's that?`

The same person I was Nine years ago when I took up your name; Nobody... and Everybody, Someone who can take up and discard masks at a whim, He who can make any fantasy, no matter how ridiculous, 100% real... Simply put? I'm The Actor and it's time to take the stage again!

`YES! For so long I've been waiting to hear that! I was statring to think you'd been lost. For the record Actor, I've missed you... The rest have to.`

As the darkness peeled from under me as black feathers, I laughed before projecting one laat thought at my first Role.

I bet you have, but for now...

Oscar doesn't say anything in response. Instead, he just closes his eyes for whatever reason. Moments later, however, I can't help but look on, amazed, as I see an emerald glow about him, a shimmer of green that looks like an Aura, Oscar's Aura. My mind tells me that my eyes aren't playing tricks on me, that that is indeed the manifestation of his soul being unlocked on its own. Wow!

I'm not sure how that happened though, for I doubt meditating would be that quick. Did it have something to do with what I suggested? Still, that's a real Aura I'm seeing with my own eyes, not something from behind the computer screen, and it's quite the sight to witness. Well, that's one problem solved.

Then he opens his eyes, but when he talks, it's like he's a different person, much like Ozpin speaking through Oscar, having a different tone of voice, demeanor and all. My eyes widen in surprise; who is this other guy? He mentions already being introduced; he calls me Snow White, not Weiss; he casually mentions Vexen, the cold scientist, and Xion, the memory-based clone, like he's met them for real, in person; Oscar mentions 'bringing back Xalgeon properly'...

"So you're Xalgeon, as in the Nobody?" I ask. "Are you another personality? Why do you call him 'the actor'?"

I thought he's just a role, a character and identity for roleplaying, not something like this! If what I inquired is the case, then it's the first time I ever meet someone with a split personality. That's... a thing.

Laughing out loud, I clap my hands. "Yep, well, former Nobody actually, in my timeline after I broke the fucker who told Xion she was a fake, me and Roxas carved through the Organization and found enough secrets to keep ourselves safe from DIZ 'til we grew our own hearts." Pausing, I lean myself on the bench like I did on my throne on TWTNW. "As for what I am to The Actor? I'm a Role, note the capital R. What The Actor is, is a blank slate, nada, zilch, zero, nothing, his mindset is permanently set to `neutral`, but by taking to different realities, that mindset changes and creates whole new identies that are completely alien to anyone who's met him, but are never not him.

Alright, let me try another way. Imagine the Actor's mind is a glass of lukewarm water, right? Now think of his Roles as variations on the water; food colourings, temperature changes, flavourings, carbonization, thickeners, thinning agents, after any one of those, the water is different, but still water."

It takes a while for me to process what he's saying, for it to make sense to me. For one to be that immersed in a role, that sounds like...

"That sounds like method acting," I comment.

...Does that mean I'm technically method acting as Weiss right now? I mean, I look like her, I sound like her, and I have to live her life. I find myself as immersed as can be. I've read before of what could happen if the method acting goes too far, though...

Nodding my head, I grin. "Pretty much. That's why he's so good at acting and roleplaying, although if he does it for any reason besides leisure, it puts him in a bad mood."

"I see."

On another note, I'm not sure how, but I could... get a vague sense of how much Aura he has. The only way to describe it is that... I now know what it's like to be Pyrrha after she unlocked her partner's Aura. "Oh, and by the way, you don't have to worry about having Aura anymore," I remark. "You have a lot of it."

"Aura?" Looking down at myself to see a dark green forcefield of light covering my body with the occasional purple spark skitterring across the green. "Huh, so this is what'll let me keep up with my old self? What's with the purple sparks though? That normal?"
