Hmm, does the fairy and youkai population grow or are we stuck with what we have? Or is it something we must unlock/produce?

Since it's LogHor we could go recruiting mobs I suppose...

Biggest issue I can see for the sort term is acquiring proper substance for Flandre. I doubt she can eat the blood/life whatever of the monsters that spawn all over the place so that means humans/People of the land.

Was it ever mentioned how much she and her sister tended to eat back in Gensokyo?

Remilia Scarlet is known as a really messy eater, smearing blood everywhere whenever she eats but very rarely killing her food.

It is implied that Flandre Scarlet just outright obliterated her food because of a lack of self-control.

Finished State of the realm and am moving onto the first turn. As you probably noticed the food supply isn't all that good and it will get worse as the stores in the mansion run out.
And Sakuya does most/all of the cooking.....
Only for the main cast of the mansion, the fairies and other servants do their own cooking.

You know, we should set up a deal of some sort with the local populace.

Their offer up a little flesh and blood in exchange for safe passage through our lands and access to a minor hub.

And if they don't, they unlock the Scarlet Devil Mansion Raid/World Event.

Well first thing is to set up some form of bloodletting tax for the humans in our Empire. They can either pay in gold or blood to live under our banner.

As for adventurer reactions to us:
"Since when did raid bosses come in loli?"

IIRC it was mentioned that it doesn't need to involve killing humans though, mainly because in Gensokyo humans are in rather short supply. I figure a blood 'donation' collected by Sakuya would probably suffice.
Another possibility is that they collect individuals that fall through the barrier.

Not really plentiful enough to feed them for more than weeks though.

That said, we have human refugees with us as well, I expect they're currently being fed from the gardens, while we collect a blood tithe from them for Flan.

Going to massively expand those (most are flower gardens I think), start hunting the local wildlife and/or setup something with the local people of the land.

Well the gardens are huge enough to have orchards as well, somewhere, so it's probably enough food to stay alive, but not comfortable.

Nope, the situation is currently at deficit and going to get worse:

We cannot support the people with what we currently have.

This is going to be an interesting clash between the Landers (who have lore behind just about every mechanic in the game, and respect them in every way), the Adventurers (who know the mechanics outside the lore and how to make use of them... or well, will), and the Refugees (who have no idea about the game mechanics, or how they may or may not affect them.)

I am actually pretty sure there actually was a compact of some sort made in canon Gensokyo after the "Vampire Incident" where blood was supplied to the vampires in return for them not going berserk on Gensokyo's population.

It's been a while since I've read Akyu's work, though.

Weren't there some hints in the series about People with suicide desires having a tendency to end up here. Or maybe they just grab People from the streets from time to time. They have a magician who moved their entire mansion into Gensokyo, it cannot be so hard to grab a few homeless People every week or so.

Gensokyo's human population is pretty low, with an irregular influx of those spirited away(and the numbers aren't very large, especially when Reimu sends a lot back and others are lost to random encounters). Lethal hunting just isn't sustainable for long.

Possibly Yukari does the extraplanar victim collecting to make the tithe, or maybe they don't need that much blood. We know Remilia is a messy eater who doesn't finish her prey off, and Flan manages to get her blood requirement through tea and cakes using blood as an ingredient. Probably sustainable with volunteers.

According to Akyu, even lost and injured humans get proper hospitality from the Scarlets, even if Flan creeps around spooking people.

Yukari does spirit people away to act as additional food supply, all but confirmed in one chapter of A Wild Horned Hermit (I recommend you read it) where she mentions that "The food for Gensokyo's population has to come from somewhere" strongly implying at least a few people mysteriously disappear are her doing.

Of course i'm also going to say that there is a bit of corpse theft as well to make up the difference.

Wasn't it mentioned at some point in PCB that there are hunter squads that are sent to the outside world to gather food for the more carnivorous youkai?
