I had the update already to go in the reply box, only missing one paragraph.

And it's vanished.

I still have quoted replies in the box on the With This Ring thread, why didn't it save here?

If you don't do anything with it that makes it update the autosave thing, I think it deletes itself after 24 hours, beyond that I'm not sure.

Also, not using back-ups. For shame.

Yeah, I would have posted this 3 days ago if I hadn't been 2 weeks wrong about my 3d modelling assignment.
So I kept thinking it was 5 minutes of work away form posting and didn't bother

So it wasn't saved as draft or was that deleted too somehow? Sad to hear it, though, hope you can recover everything you can from memory if you can't get it back.

Have you considered using google docs? It saves as you type, you don't lose anything.

It's pretty great.

I prefer to use Word for these cases. If formatting is an issue, what I used to do is to copy-paste the text into the Windows' Notebook thing to delete the fomat, then move it from here to the webpage and manually edit the format. It should work for GoogleDocs too.

Well, they've clearly spotted you. So you push of the tree branch, dropping down until you're almost on the ground before flying towards them, slow enough that you don't come off as a threat.

"Hi there!" You say cheerily, greeting them with a wave as you land in the clearing. The woman raises her eyebrows in surprise as the man in red sighs and runs a hand through his brown hair.

"And you are?" The woman asks.

"I'm Jazz, Guardian of Remnant. Who're you?"
The woman looks at you skeptically before glancing at the man, who's looking straight at you, a serious expression on his rugged face.

"Bianca Essex. That's Carnelian. What are you doing out here?" She says, frowning and crossing her arms.

"Investigating you guys actually. Your fight was the first interesting thing that's happened around here since I woke up." You say, your smile growing wider as Bianca slips her shield onto her belt.

"Since you woke up? What happened yesterday that was more interesting than us?" Bianca says, gesturing at herself and Carnelian.

"Well I went to sleep a few thousand years or so ago and things apparently started going to hell. So someone got fed up with this and used the dragon balls to wake me back up." You explain, glancing at the dissolving Grimm corpses as you do. Now that you think about it, self disposing corpses is really useful but really weird. Why do they do that?

"Wait. How did they find a dragon, and how does a dragon's test-" She starts to say in confusion, but Carnelian cuts her off with his own realisation.

"So the stories are true then? There's such thing as a magical wish granting dragon that you can summon with the 7 dragonballs?" He asks.

"Yep. If you manage to gather the 7 dragon balls you can summon the eternal dragon to grant you any wish. So long as you don't wish to kill someone stronger than the dragon's creator of course." You say with a frown, realising you have no idea who's power the dragon is drawing on.
"But yeah. Someone wished me back, the balls scattered to the seven winds and I couldn't find whoever it was."

"Well this might explain a lot." Carnelian says rubbing his chin.
"Would the dragon affect the weather at all?"

"Well whenever you call upon a wish dragon the sky goes blacker than anything you can imagine. Which generally results in a bunch of clouds appearing out of nowhere." You say, thinking of the stormy skies that always accompany Shenron and Porunga.

"We got sent out here to investigate the cause of the freak storms that made interkingdom shipping impossible over the last few months." He explains.
"Since at least one angry ex-employee with plans to make a weather controlling machine vanished into the wilderness recently, Horizon decided it was worth getting professionals to check it out."

"So hunters take commissions now? Guess you learn something new every day." You say as you feel something oily approaching.
"But this is probably a conversation best had in safety." You say, turning and firing a Power Chord at the approaching bear.
"I've been staying at an abandoned village to the east. Meet me there and we'll talk."
You say as your blast detonates and leaves only a few wisps of black smoke. You take off before they can respond - you should probably tell Jasper about this.

{1} {2} {3} {4} {5} {6} {7}

In less than a minute you're back at the lookout, well ahead of Bianca and Carnelian. Jasper is actually awake now, his karambits holstered on his belt and he's clearly washed himself.

"I found the fighters. A pair of hunters against a horde of Grimm. They're heading to the village now, wanna meet them?" You ask casually.

"Yes!" Jasper says, his ears twitching in excitement.

"Then we need to go over some ground rules. No mentioning the Lookout or any relevant legends that they don't know - I want to see what is remembered by people that don't have an ancient duty related to me." You say, mentally going over what you've said to him.
"They're here to investigate a weather disturbance which may have been caused by the dragon when I was woken up. So they know something at least. Anyway, let's go." You say, grabbing his shoulder and taking off.

After you land Jasper sits on the fence of the only really livable house in the village while you sit on the air, making sure you're eyes will be on the same level as Carnelian's.
Also you're floating a meter or so off of the ground, which is always fun when people try and get more serious than you.

When the hunters arrive you examine them in more detail as they walk through the winding path that isn't overgrown with fruit trees or flowers.

Bianca is wearing pieces of white plate armour detailed with gold over something green - maybe a one piece body suit or something. Her pentagonal shield is strapped to her right forearm and fully retracted - not only is the hole gone, but you can now see that it greatly resembles a symbol on her more ornate left shoulder guard - a vaguely pentagonal white rose. Unlike Carnelian she doesn't have a helmet - instead she wears a metal headband with her short blonde hair.

Carnelian in comparison wears a full suit of dark red plate armor, complete with helmet. There's some done in a dark silver, in particular a patch over his heart that makes a pentagonal red rose stand out - either these are personal symbols or they belong to a greater organisation. Either is possible.
His large sword is hanging on his belt and his helmet is tucked under his arm as the two come into view, his cropped dark hair managing to look fairly good despite the fight he was just in.

"So, who are you?" Bianca says, looking at the tiger boy next to you.

"I'm Jasper." Responds, waving at the hunters.

"He's basically my assistant." You explain.

"And he isn't the one who wished you back." Bianca says doubtfully. "So how'd you find him then?"

"He was living here when I woke up. But that isn't too important right now. What comes next? You go home and tell your boss that there's a dragon that grants wishes?" You ask.

"God no." Bianca says."Tell a corporation about a dragon that can grant any wish? We'll just say some nomad with a weather manipulating semblance went and killed himself drinking dust. It's happened before."

You look at them for a moment, doing your best to keep confusion off of your face - you can ask Jasper what that stuff is later.
"Is that common?" You ask, going for a safe option.

"Not really. Semblances that affect such a wide area are pretty rare, and it's practically impossible to get dust in a consumable form in one of the kingdoms, let alone the wilderness." She says.

"So you're just going to lie to your boss for me? I'm flattered." You say.

"We'll be telling people." Carnelian interrupts. "Just not Horizon."

"Smart. Hope they're trustworthy." You say. "That said, it's not like knowing about the balls will do anything. They're scattered all over the planet."

"You never know, someone might get lucky." He says.

"So what happens now?" Jasper asks.

"We'll need to start heading back." Bianca says, pulling some sort of electronic tablet out of a bell pouch. "Horizon went and put a time limit on the mission, so we won't get payed if we don't get back in a month."

"Your bosses sound like great guys to work for." You say with a smile.

"Lien is lien." Carnelian says with a shrug. "We're heading to Vale from here and then we'll go overland to Vacuo before crossing back over here. The round trip should take us a year, give or take a couple of months."

"Brilliant." You say. "Hey, when you come back could you bring me…

After the four of you share a meal the hunters set off, to return eventually. You mentally note that they're heading East, which means whatever Vale is it's that way.

You get back into the routine after they leave, making sure to subtly question Jasper on the new information.

{1} {2} {3} {4} {5} {6} {7}

"I'm guessing you don't know who or what Horizon is then?" You ask Jasper as he strains to perform pull-ups.

"Nope. Haima would be the one to ask there. She's actually been somewhere other than the village." He responds.

"Which also means you don't know who Bianca and Carnelian would trust over them." You muse.

"It could other hunters that mentored them, or maybe the rest of their team." Jasper says. "I think they operate in teams of four."

"If true that says a lot." You say. "I can't imagine being in a team of four and hiking across Grimm filled wilderness in only a pair." You say, mentally adding 'not at their power level anyway.'
"So what's a semblance?"

A semblance is a unique thing everyone has - something you can do with your aura that no one else can." He says, pausing for breath. "My father's allowed him to send dozens of foes flying while empowering allies."

"Aura." You say. "I was assuming it was a new term for ki but that may not be so. Can you learn to perform someone else's semblance?"

"No, never." Jasper says, letting go of the bar in surprise, landing fairly gracefully.

"Weird. And dust is?"

"Dad always said it was crystals that fell from the stars. Mom said that lots of people didn't agree with that though." He says, standing up. "It comes in a bunch of elemental types and can be used for energy or fighting. I haven't seen any myself though."

"So much for that." You mutter. "Back to squats shrimp." You say.

I guess it is. Hadn't thought about it, but Jazz could totally fly them around.

Anyone know if there's a map of Remnant with a scale?

Training Jasper via jazzercise Time Patroller methods will get faster results, mostly because Jazz knows it inside and out. That said, I'm fairly certain you guys are trying to awaken his aura, which may not necessarily unlock faster via jazzercise Earth martial arts methods.
Plus Jasper will eventually demand to b e taught how to fly already.

You guys sure love grinding Jasper to the ground (his martial skills, I mean) and searching the Lookout for more loot. We can't stay here indefinitely though, There's ADVENTURE!! to have and such.

On the other hand, once Jasp is fed up with waiting and demands to know how to fly, we'll finally have an excuse to explore our surroundings.

I haven't found any maps with a scale, but that may be because they purposely left information such as nation borders and the like vague, from what I've read. But maybe this and this could help? I haven't really read them, tbh, but they seem promising.

So Vale is roughly 1/3 the size of America. Assuming the distance between Vale, Vacuo and Mistral is roughly equivalent to the distance between the US and China, it'd take around 10-15 hours to fly between them on a modern plane. You guys could fly between each kingdom in 7 and a half hours or so.
And you're probably less of a target for the Grimm. Hmmm...

ou guys could fly between each kingdom in 7 and a half hours or so.
Is that if we go by ourselves, or carrying a passenger? Granted, if transporting these two Hunters is actually considered doing so at some point, Jazz will need a platform of some sort to carry them (and most likely move slower).

Too bad people insist on staying here and attempt to translate a bunch of ancient books, when our character is not a scholar by any means. Perhaps outside help would speed up the process.
