Day 11
Howard Class Roll: 61 + 15 = 76 High Success

The speeches today were pretty much like yesterday's. Nothing to really say about them. Though you did notice that one child seemed to have a rather….unique speech.

Her speech seemed to focus on myths and legends about famous monsters like Medusa and the Hekatonkheires. This in and of itself wouldn't be that spectacular, it's just the way she speaks about the subject matter. She sounds like she has had actual, physical contact with these creatures to the point where you can just feel the passion in her voice. In particular, you take note of how she tends to refer to the Monsters as "family".

The class ends at it's normal time, but you make a note of the girl who did that speech before everyone left with their graded work (80s to 90s, nice!). Hannah's her name.

Could she possibly be…...

No. That would be too much of a coincidence.

(New Investigation Unlocked!)

Ana Class Roll: 70 + 5 = 75 High Success

Today is the last day before the weekend, so all the other children are vibrating with excitement. Literally, you even see one of them knock over his glue stick he's moving around so much.

You however, are less focused on that and more on your interroga—you mean, conversation with Chester. The complication with his parents yesterday left you feeling rather insulted, and you wanted to find out why exactly they were so opposed to you spending time with Chester.

Of course, he doesn't make it very easy. Ducking out of your sight at the last minute, hiding behind other kids when it's playtime, even resorting to hanging on to the teacher's skirt, he deliberately tries to avoid you at every turn. Thankfully, the teacher notices this and puts the two of you at a corner desk so that you could, "Sort out your little spat in private."

Though you could've easily cornered him while class was getting out, you do thank her for her unwitting assistance. Human ignorance can be a wonderful thing sometimes.

And so, you and Chester begin to have an actual conversation about his parents and their hang ups about you.

What you find out...is to be expected really.

His parents know that you are an Eldritch being (which you had already deduced) and are afraid that you'll try and turn Chester into a, quote, "Mindless worshiping drone." Apparently, this prejudice runs rather deep in his family. He makes multiple mentions of his parents talking about being hunted down for use in the revival of one Ancient Old One or another. Though most of the names that he drops you have never even heard of, so it's more likely that those were just some crazy people who believed themselves to be cultist.

You feel rather offended at their suspicion of you. You wouldn't turn Chester into a drone! Those are so useless! They can hardly be expected to do anything other than single word commands, and that's if whoever made them is sufficiently lucky! You refrain from saying this out loud, of course, and instead ask what Chester feels about the situation.

His eyes get that surprised look in them again, and he starts to look down at the table, "No one's...ever really asked me that."

"Well, I'm asking you now."

He chews his bottom lip for a time. Then, just when he's about to give you an answer, the bell rings and the entire room rushes out of the open door.

Chester bolts upright, "Over already! I've got to go, Ana! I'll tell ya later!" With that, he grabs his backpack and runs out the door before you can say a word.

You look out the door and cross your arms. That was rather rude!

The teacher looks your way and smiles, "You look so cute when you pout like that Anastasia."

What?! You do not pout! That is beneath you!

(10% Information gained on Chester's Family: +5 to any action involving talking to them)

Ms. Rivauld Retry: 82 - 10 = 72 High Success

"Please forgive me!" you bow as low as you can manage without your head hitting the tiled floor underneath your feet, "I didn't mean for any of what happened yesterday to happen!"

After class was over, you hurried to the entrance to the school to wait for Rivauld to come outside. She noticed you and stopped just inside of the door frame with her arms crossed. Her frown signified that she obviously didn't want to see you right now, and you were almost sure she would just walk right past you to her car.

Her frown sooned turned into a surprised gasp as she saw you bow down and apologize to her. It proceeded to stay that way, as you refused to stand straight until you were sure she accepted your apology. You glanced up at her, pleading with one eye to say that she accepted as this was starting to hurt your back.

Rivauld stayed in that shocked pose for a few more seconds before shaking her head and saying that she forgave you. You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding in, and stand up straight again. Afterwards, you walk her over to her car while talking about random things.

When you tell her about how Anastasia is doing, her lips part into a small smile. You blink once, then she hands over a piece of paper with a sequence of numbers scribbled on it.

You blink again, flabbergasted, "Is this your—"

"Phone number? Yes," she says as she opens the driver's seat of her black Mustang. You didn't think anyone had one of those anymore, "I would love to meet you sometime outside of work. Maybe you could introduce me to your daughter? I feel like we would be great friends."

"Um, ah, ugh. Sure!" you say with more enthusiasm than you meant to. Rivauld nods, and is soon driving away to the west of your little neighborhood here.

You watch her car leave, then look down at the paper in your hands.

Did you just get a woman's number without even trying to?

...You are so smooth.

Feeling rather good about yourself, you walk tall all the way to the entrance to get Anastasia. Though one thing is still bothering you as you walk.

When Rivauld smiled at you earlier, you could've sworn you saw some rather long canine teeth in there. A bit too long to be on a human.

(A Woman Scorned Perk Removed! Rivauld SL Increased!)

Chester Recon: 10 High Fail

You're recon of Chester's home fails almost instantly.

Why?

Well because, when you got home you were going to start asking around the place to see if anyone can give you a clue as to where Chester lives….when his father happened.

To be more specific, as soon as you opened your door you saw Chester's father standing right across the street from your house in the rain. He wasn't near enough to make you think he was going to come on to your property, but he was far enough away that you could see him clearly in the afternoon haze.

You then decided to give up on the current course of action. Particularly when the man looked you in the eyes with a death glare that could freeze blood. Then he walked away like nothing had ever happened.

That guy is fucking scary.

(Chester's family is aware of you and know where you live!)

Watch TV: 22 Fail

You try to watch some TV with Ana, but today was one of those days.

You know, when there's almost nothing to watch on TV?

Nothing good anyway.

So you kind of just end up flicking channels until the both of you go to sleep on the couch.

(No Change)

For Howard we have a tie between making friends and call Chester's parents.

For Ana we have a tie between reading a book and sense eldritch.

I'll give it half an hour to see if someone breaks the tie. If not, I'll flip a coin.

Alright.

Chester's Parents beat out Friends, and Anastasia will be Sensing for Eldritch.

But now, there's a tie between Reading the Journal and Physical Training.

I'm flipping a coin for this.

Heads (1) Training, Tails (2) Journal.

Day 11 Part 2
Defensive Training Roll: 70 High Success

You've been putting this off for a while now, but no more.

You've got a werewolf that knows where you live, shadow things that watch your every move, and who knows what else out there that may have you in its sights!

It's time to stop being passive, and start being passive aggressive!

"That's not what you're doing," you sigh as Ana once again states the obvious. You tell her that you know, but it's your way of getting yourself pumped up.

"For what?"

"Training, of course!" you shadow box for good measure, making sure to avoid hitting the TV stand as you do. You've been meaning to better yourself physically, and what better excuse than being hunted down by creatures beyond your understanding. In the words of your students, you need to "Git Gud."

Ana looks at you with a flat expression, "You do know that I can take care of just about everything and anything that could possibly do us harm, right?"

"Yes, but I don't want to be the 'sidekick'," you use your hands to make air quotes, "that sits on the sidelines while everyone else does all the work! Besides, what kind of father would I be if I just sat back and let my daughter do all the work."

"A pragmatic one when you take into account what I am, but I suppose I can see your point," She stands up from the table, a bowl floating next to her head as she enters the living room.

You're just about to ask her what's she's doing, when the bowl comes flying at your head. You barely move away in time, before it stops and flies right back at you like a boomerang. You shout as you twist and turn, asking Ana what the heck she's doing?!

Calmly, while checking her nails for dirt, she says, "Helping you with your training. The first step to surviving in combat, is to not get hit after all.

She puts her hand down at her side, and the bowl stops right above your head. You stare at it, thinking that maybe she's finished. Then you hear her say, "Now DODGE!" and the bowl comes dashing towards your head. You feel it pass by the hair on your neck as you move in a way you didn't think you could to dodge the projectile. It stops right before it hits the floor and sweeps you off your feet. You hit the ground with a thud, groaning in pain.

(Perk Gained: DODGE!)

Werewolf Meeting: 76 + 5 (Information) +10 (Orator) + 5 (Put your Trust in me) -15 (Remaining Information) - 15 (Full Moon) = 66 Success

"This is a terrible idea," the house in front of you is a small, one story affair. You can see two windows peaking out next to the main entrance, like big glass eyes watching those who come forward. The rain pitter patters off of the umbrella you brought to protect you both from the rain.

"I know that," your feet clack against the concrete walkway causes to as you walk towards the polished, wooden door that acts as the entrance. As you get closer, you notice a welcome matt made up of shaggy carpet stuff with the word "Welcome" etched onto it.

"You are probably going to get yourself killed," Ana adjust her skirts at the same time you adjust your tie. The dark grey bricks of the house blend in perfectly with the rest of the area around this street. It's the perfect place for people who want to keep their existence a secret.

"I'm aware that my life's in danger, yes," by now you've reached the door, and press down on the button that serves as a doorbell.

Trust Check: 6

"Then I will have to completely and utterly annihilate everyone in this house," you feel a bit of pressure on the hand she's holding.

"Isn't that a bit extreme?" you question. Before she can answer, you hear the doorknob turn and your trepidation returns. You know Ana sniffed this place out using her own powers, which she boast are "100% accurate", but that does little to alleviate your nerves. You could've gotten the address wrong, or worse, stumbled upon something you really shouldn't have.

But...you've got to get this sorted out. You need to let them know that you are not trying to corrupt their son. Otherwise, they might do something that both they, and you, will regret.

So, you take a deep breath, stand as straight as you can, and prepare yourself for whatever comes through that door.

It slowly creaks open, stopping once it's wide enough to allow whoever's inside to peak out at both of you. You start to speak, until the door is slammed wide open to reveal a disheveled Chester.

He's hair is a mess, all of it sticking out as if he had just rolled around in a wool blanket when he got up out of bed. His cheeks are flushed, and his chest rises and falls with his panting breaths. Dilated pupils move between both you and your daughter, until he settles them on Ana.

He breaths out her name, "Ana?"

Anastasia smiles, and curtsies to him, "Hello there Chester. We finally meet outside of schoo—"

Moving faster than you thought he could, Chester grabs Anastasia's shoulders and starts to shake her back and forth. "What are you doing here?!" his voice is panicked as he speaks, "Don't you know tonight's the night of a full moon?! Don't you know what that means for me?!"

Your paternal instincts kick in, and you reach down to extricate his hands from your daughter's shoulders. "Woah there! Calm down man!" the boy's stronger than you anticipated, but you're still older than he is and have dealt with plenty of petulant kids during class. It's an easy task to put his arms back at his sides before anything serious happens.

Anastasia looks none the worse for wear, thankfully, and straightens her clothes back to their original state. "I am fully aware of what is happening tonight, and what it means for you and your family Chester."

"Then why did you come here?!" he says as he struggles out of your grip.

"Two reason. One, I wanted to patched things up with the parents of my first ever friend." She lets what she just said sink in for a moment before continuing, "And two, my reckless father wishes to do the same."

You are about to speak when, again, someone else rushes over to the door. Seriously, what is is with people and interrupting you today?! However, you can make an exception for this person.

The man who now stands before you is clearly the same one from yesterday. His height, defined musculature, and hard face completely match the one who was watching you yesterday. He's discarded his body length black coat, for a more casual, yet intimidating attire. In fact, if you didn't know better, you'd almost mistake him for a biker from TV. Just replace the leather clothes with jeans and a long orange shirt.

And, like Chester, his breaths are coming in short burst, as if he just ran three marathons in sequence. Without any water.

However, unlike Chester, he seems to more in control of his faculties. This is evident because when he sees you he gives you the same death glare from before. Only this time, you're able to see his eyes morph from wide pupils to tiny animalistic splits in his irises. Chester says something to try to stop him, but his father's legs are already in motion. Next thing you know, he is standing face to face with you, the smell of an anger dog in your nostrils.

You feel more than see Anastasia tense up beside you, and start to taste the tang of sulfur on your tongue. You give her hand a squeeze to calm her down, as you stare down Mr. Harrowmont.

You take as deep of a breath as you dare before you speak, "H-hello there, sir. My name is Mr. Howard Craft. And I believe that there have been some misconceptions between us."

You hear and feel a deep rumble coming from somewhere near you. It takes you a moment before you realize that it's Mr. Harrowmont speaking, "A name to put to the face then. You mind telling me what made you think you and that thing," his eyes dart to Anastasia, "could waltz into my home without being invited?"

When you hear him call Anastasia a thing, something inside of you clicks. You stand straighter as you speak, "Because, I believe that you owe my daughter an apology."

"Daughter? Do you mean the—"

"Her name is Anastasia Craft," you grit your teeth in an attempt to remain calm, "and she is my daughter. And I would appreciate it if you did not call her an it." By now you are pushing back against the old werewolf, adrenaline pumping through your veins as you defend your daughter.

Mr. Harrowmont backs off, and you see his face fall into one of embarrassment, "Wait, so you're not a—but I thought that—you're not a cult—arrgh!" At that exclamation he clutches his head with hands that are starting to look more and more like claws.

With the tension gone from the atmosphere, you say, "Hey, you ok dude?"

"I'm fine! Just hold on!" he leans into the door and screams down the hallway, "Barbara! Get me the amulet! I know what I'm saying, just give it to me!" A few seconds later, he leans outside and places a cold piece of stone in your free hand.

"Consider this our apology! It should protect you in case….just stay safe!" And just like that, he's back inside the house, where you hear the sound of feet rushing to and fro around the place.

All three of you stand there for a time, until Chester breaks the silence as he slowly closes the door behind him, "Thank you both for coming. And Ana. Your dad's awesome."

And so, you're left there. Standing on the porch of a house full of werewolves, with an amulet in one hand, and your daughter's tight gripping hand in the other.

...Well, this turned out better than expected.
