Quest to Become a Hero

Medical Care and the Lord's Hall
[X] Pretend like nothing happened and carry on paying for the cheaper healing.

You let the silence drag out for a few moments as you ponder on what to do, some part of you tempted to use the situation to press for extra benefits. However, you decide that it is a rather poor move to put pressure on her for the event, it's highly likely the entire exchange was unintentional after all. You shakily move a hand down and pull a coin-purse from your waist before sorting forty coppers onto to the table.

"This should be enough for the basic treatment, correct? I'll be going with that for the time being, please don't delay since I do have a request to report for today."

Valencia carefully moves a hand to wipe the traces of blood from her face before nodding, her form rigidly standing up as she moves to gather the needed supplies. It doesn't take long for her to finish the work, a couple of ointments being applied with proper bandaging being the extent of it after all. You give her a short nod and stand up to leave after thanking the Elf for her help, but she remains silent until you've actually stepped out the door.

"Please come again tomorrow, Sir. Do not forget the need to monitor your condition."

Immediately after, the door shuts soundlessly behind you and you decide to throw the situation there to the back of your mind. At least until you actually finish the job today. With that in mind you make your way out of the Guild and immediately head for the Lord's Hall, it is from there that all the town's administration is carried out after all. As you walk you begin to notice your hunger, if only because you can feel the ravenous sensation coming from your cannibalistic companion.

You manage to pick up a meal from a street vendor, two skewers with roasted sausages on them and a hunk of bread, for a total of five coppers. Quickly polishing that off you begin to pass the time you spend walking by throwing pieces of the butchered rabbit meat down to your rabbit. Impressively the vicious little fur-ball manages to snap up every bit without fail, it is truly impressive how agile the creature and its species appear to be.

When you finely arrive at the Lord's Hall you find a flood of people trafficking the area, some moving into the Hall and others leaving while just as many seem to flit around in the plaza laid out before it. A quick order for the rabbit to stay close to you is issued and then you head inside to report for your temporary posting.

The inside of the Hall is a rather large oddly enough, desks lined up to either side of the open air garden at it's heart. A quick glance up reveals two floors above with railings setup along the edge for those with the time to gaze at the garden, or sky.

"Quite an impressive display of wealth, makes you wonder what buildings look like in actual cities or province capitals..."

You spend a moment looking around, but quickly find all the desks occupied with lines that almost reach out the doors though you do manage to spot a stairwell off behind the desks with a guard leaning on the wall next to it. Waiting in the line would definitely end with you knowing where you are to report to, but given the time required... Perhaps it's worth asking the guard instead?

' "Report to the Lord's Hall", what a damned helpful addressing. It's quite annoying that they didn't provide a better description of where to go and I doubt the Guild asked or cared. They really take the entire standing on your own merits bit a tad too far sometimes.'

What do you do?

[] Get in line for one of the reception desks. Guaranteed to get you where you need to go, but it'll be time consuming.
[] Head over and ask the Guard, show your Guild Card and the request. Maybe they know and it would be far faster anyway.
[] Write-in.

A Taciturn Soldier and Some Financial Work
[X] Head over and ask the Guard, show your Guild Card and the request. Maybe they know and it would be far faster anyway.

You make your way through the crowded entry hall and past the desks to converse with the guard on duty, the man's face scrunching up in confusion as he stands up fully alert. A gruff voice echoes from under a full helm,

"Halt, what business do you have back here. Areas beyond this point are not open to the public, trespassing will be met with force if need be."

You give the man a faint smile before pulling out your Guild Card, the man blatantly tensing up as his hand goes for a sword at his waist only to relax moments later.

"I took up a request from the Guild, it said the Lord needed additional scribes to assist with the record keeping due to increased travelers. I was simply hoping I could report for my work, seemed like a waste of valuable time to stay in line when I am supposed to be working for the Lord."

He gives you a small nod before taking the Guild Card from your hand without a word, a similar device to the one you saw when the gate guards stopped you over your pet quickly appearing from his pocket. He pushes the card into the prearranged slot and waits for a second before the device lets out a quiet beep which causes the guard to completely relax. He hands the card back to you before ordering you up the stairs, the place you are to do your work apparently being the third door on the left.

When you arrive you find the door marked with a plaque that reads "Administration, Fourth Chamber" before knocking heavily upon the surface. A short while passes before you hear the sound of several locks being undone, another guard opening the door to reveal a small room packed with several desks. All of them covered in dozens of books, parchments, and scrolls along with writing materials.

After giving you a once over the guard waves you before shutting the door and throwing several deadbolts back into place. Upon finishing he points you towards the only remaining desk before returning to his position next to the door in utter silence. You can't help, but to raise an eyebrow at the taciturn soldier before sitting down behind the desk.

Everything arranged upon it appears to have to do with the tax income from tolls paid by the town's many travelers, according to the orders written on one paper you are to compile them into a cohesive set of log books. Amount paid as well as descriptions are to be neatly arranged, while totals from each days tolls that you compile are to be compared against records from the Lord's office itself.

'Simple enough a task, not much to mess up here, but there is quite a fountain of information available in these. If I spend some time while I'm copying maybe I can discover something from the descriptions of these travelers. Whether it's useful or not is hard to say, but might be interesting...'

What do you do?

[] Focus solely on doing your work, and competently at that.
[] Focus only on the work, but do it swiftly. No need to be hear longer than you need to.
[] Try and glean something from the records while you work, maybe you'll find something interesting?
[] Write-in.

GM Note: I'm gonna be honest here... Might have gotten slightly consumed by FF XIV for the past week or so. Finally managed to get into the Heavensward expansion, but considering how soon Shadowbringers drops I doubt I'll get caught up before the new expansion.

Barely Avoiding Disaster?
[X] Focus solely on doing your work, and competently at that.

You set to work immediately, reports quickly spread out on the table around the ledger you're beginning to copy and categorize them by date and alphabetically. Even as injured as you are it's a surprisingly easy task, if somewhat painful, as your movements and actions quickly adjust to what you can only describe as an instinct you didn't know you had. Your mind blanks and you almost rigidly go about your work, but before you can really get into the flow that your new instincts seem to be leading towards - shouting from outside disturbs the quiet of your work.

No words are recognizable, but it quickly picks up until an ear piercing wail cuts everything off. Beside the door the guard frowns before unlocking the door and shuffling outside, leaving your small group of scribes behind in utter shock. After a while passes the guard returns with a gloomy expression, slamming and locking the door behind him before turning to you all.

"Just someone resisting a conscription order, no need to worry. It's been resolved."

A frown crosses your face, but you turn back to your work without comment. The kingdom was pretty strict when it came to such actions, so whoever resisted has likely met a rather final punishment...

You let out a short sigh, but carry on with your work, quickly returning that nigh mindless state of copying. You are completely uncertain of the amount of time that passes as you work, but at one point you are startled from your half-trance by something like an instinctual call.

Something about the piece you've just copied seemed to ring bells in your head that it was important, looking down over it again you find an exemption of toll notice for one of the groups traveling through. It's listed for a group of the Knights of Silence led by a Priest by the name Illiad Greyson, curious...

'What are the God of Death's paladins doing in the area, and why did this seem important suddenly? Hmm, I'll make a mental note of it for later.'

You turn back to your work before the guard can get suspicious of your pause, swiftly falling back into the mesmerized state.

---

When you come to you find you've completed all the work on your desk, the other scribes long gone even though more than half of their work seems to still remain. Off to the side the same guard stands utterly still, could he be asleep?

What do you do?
[] Check to see if the guard is awake.
[] Inform the guard your work is done and head to the guild to receive payment.
[] Take a look at the other scribes desks, maybe their work is different, more interesting?
[] Write-in.

A Missed Entry

You turn to the guard and clear your throat, their helmeted face turning in your direction immediately.

'Good thing I'm asking first, but... how do they stand that still? It is kind of inhuman.'

Giving them a halfhearted smile, you then launch into your question,

"Would it be alright if I looked over the other scribes' work to check for mistakes? Thought it best to ask first."

Your question is met by a long period of silence before the guard slowly nods, the face plate of their helmet clanking slightly as if in place of actually speaking. You can't help it and raise an eyebrow at them before turning to your real goal, searching the other scribes work for anything of interest, especially about that Illiad.

It doesn't take long for you to get consumed by your work, your hands effortless flicking through the ledgers arranged on each desk while your eyes search for any noticeable error. All sense of time fades, your thoughts occupied by tax ledgers and mundane reports from the Lord's court until you suddenly freeze in place. Something tugs at you, some buried instinct screaming that you missed something in the book you had just read.

Opening it back up, you grab a loose sheet of paper and prepare your writing instruments hell-bent on pretending to double check the little math found in this particular document. It takes a while, your pace severely slowed by your cover actions, but you finally spot the entry you had missed.

---

23rd Day of Spring, Year 14852 EC
Lord Relgar's 67th Court Meeting, Visitor Illiad Greyson, more widely known as the Black Shepherd

Specifics of the meeting sealed on orders from the Lord
Record of the gifts received by the Lord also sealed by his orders

---

You try your best to not let any surprise show, but you feel your injured hands shake slightly as you read the entry. Uncertain, but absolutely sure that you want to leave here immediately, you finish up tallying the ledger before crumbling the paper up and throwing it away. You inform the guard your work is finished, their silent form moving stiffly to unlock the door at a pace that is almost painful.

By the time they finish you are noticing the intense pangs of hunger as well as the same sensation pouring from your carnivorous companion. Giving a short thanks to the guard, you walk out of the room and head for the exit at a normal pace, thoughts bouncing around in your head.

'Black Shepherd? Widely known, enough to be notable even by Lord Relgar himself... It has to be impossible right? Just a coincidence that the names are so similar. Black Shepherd.... Shepherd of the Dead....

Can Vessels sense each others presence when they grow stronger? Possibly, worrying...'

What do you do?

[] Report to the guild that your work is finished.
[] Head to an inn to get a meal for you and the Rabbit before getting some sleep. It is well into night after all.
[] Write-in.

Ready for promotion
[X] Head to an inn to get a meal for you and the Rabbit before getting some sleep. It is well into night after all.

You briefly contemplate heading to the Guild to turn in the quest, but throw it aside as your stomach reminds you to eat again. Either way you have to report to the Guild for further examination by the Elf for whatever damage occurred to your soul, though you have not noticed much effect there aside from the persistent headache. Motioning towards your also hungry companion you set about hunting down an inn for the night.

It doesn't take long for you to find a somewhat rundown inn with available rooms and for a fair price even with the influx of travelers in the region. Your attempts to haggle fail miserably, but the price for room and food only comes out to thirty coppers which is a great relief considering your quickly diminishing funds. You settle in for a quick meal before heading up to your room for the night.

---

You awake the next morning to a gentle tapping on your face which, upon opening your eyes, turns out to a hungry rabbit swatting your forehead. Giving it a slight wave you sit up before digging your backpack from beneath the bed and tossing some strips of meat to it which it hastily devours. You give the vicious little animal a few pats on the head before getting ready for the day, the pain in your hands less than the day before.

---

It's not long before you arrive at the, as usual, packed Guild Hall where you slide into the shortest line and start your slow wait. You pass the time watching the Adventurers milling around the Guild, and keeping an eye on your hyperactive companion who has taken it upon themselves to roam the Hall. Before too long it's your turn and you give your follower a quick mental tug to come over before walking up the counter where your usual receptionist awaits.

She gives you a small smile and holds out her hand,

"Ah, good morning Mr. Stitch! I take it you already finished your work? Quite impressive how fast you managed, you can likely expect some additional rewards for that."

You give her a faint nod before handing over your Guild Card which she takes and promptly slots it into the strange device which runs it all. Instead of the usual beeping you are met with a low ringing that seems to fill the room, a few Adventurers look your way in confusion, but most simply ignore it. Your receptionist suddenly grins as she gives you a very subtle bow.

"Congratulations Mr. Stitch, you have performed quite admirably since you joined the Guild. You are now eligible to perform the Promotion Exam to advance to Porcelain Rank thus obtaining all the benefits, and access that comes with it. You may of course remain at Wood rank for as long as you like, but to advance you will be required to finish the Exam.

Any questions Mr. Stitch?"

What do you do?

[] Hold off on the Exam and go report for your checkup with the Elf.

Really Shouldn't Have Looked...
[X] Ask what the consequences of trying and failing the exam are.
[X] Hold off on the Exam and go report for your checkup with the Elf.
[X] Give two experience to the Rabbit.

Gained 2 Health.
Gained Cannibalize Ability due to influence from Experience sources.
Gained Soul Linked Trait

You vaguely feel some changes from the rabbit now rubbing its head against your leg affectionately, but push it aside for later.

"What are the consequences if I take the exam and fail exactly?"

The receptionist nods her head as she replies,

"Of course you would want to know. Failing the Exam will halve your current Advancement Points as that would reveal you have need of more experience in the field. Of course, if you fail to pass an Advancement Exam three times then you will lose all ability to advance your rank in the Guild.

The number of attempts is of course reset each rank, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Besides, you've done well so far, I expect the Exam would be rather simple for you!"

You process that and let out a short sigh before shaking your head,

"I'll hold off on taking the Exam for now then. Thanks for your help."

With that you turn and head to the Guild's medical ward, might as well get this checkup over with after all. You enter to find Valencia stooped over a rather obviously infatuated Adventurer whose arms have been practically torn apart. His torso is caved in, and his face a mangled mess yet he still looks at her with a smile.

Golden light that reminds you of the sun radiates from her and that fascinating voice echoes throughout the room.

"From that which saw the Dawn gracing its birth, from the Tree that grows upon the horizon itself I draw strength. May it's boundless strength restore your body to what it once was. Let there be [Life in the Dawn]."

Suddenly the light shifts and turns brighter, so bright that you should be blinded and yet somehow you witness it. Behind Valencia a withered tree forms, it's branches broken and it's trunk riddled with holes. Immediately you know that you've witnessed something you were not meant to, as if your soul was screaming at you to look away.

Yet, you can't. Knowledge was the heart of your existence and this was knowledge that few had ever witnessed. Oddly that instinctual terror fades as some of the golden light envelops you, safety and comfort filling your mind. You feel something looking at you, you feel the alien nature of it and yet find comfort in it despite the intense sadness it holds.

Suddenly you are overcome with exhaustion, your eyes beginning to close no matter how hard you fight it. You feel fear from your companion and try your best to comfort it even as sleep takes you...

---

Once again you find yourself in that lifeless void within which the flame remains, it's existence sputtering as the golden crown drifts drunkenly around it. Despite your location in the void you feel the origin of your heroic spirit once more observing you.

"Truly, such a foolish child. You are lucky that It is not a hostile existence."

What do you do?
[] Ask what It is exactly.
[] Ask why you are here.
[] Ask if you are dead.
[] Write-in.

Earning Benefits At A Great Cost
[X] Ask why you are here.

"Why am I here? You apparently know after all."

You say and let out a sigh, it's easy for you to notice in this form that the entity behind you pauses and you are left in a long period of silence. It seems like ages pass before it finally answers,

"It is simple really, child. Not something I can fully explain to you, but you came to this space as It tried to tear Us from your soul along with the mark left behind by your people's God of War. It... it does not approve of my existence, but it took a step back when confronted by Our True Form.

This... this is the consequence of your stupidity child."

With that sentence you look forward to find the multicolored flame sputtering and you understand it is close to being extinguished, one little push would be enough to erase it forever. Understanding that feels you with fear, after all it is the Heroic Spirit and your position as a Vessel that allowed you to gain so much in such little time. Driven by that instinctive terror you ask,

"Am I going to lose the Heroic Spirit?"

You hear a long sigh, the weight of time heavy in the monotonous sound, before the emotionless voice answers.

"No, I prevented your disqualification as a Vessel. However, it did not come without cost, child. After you leave here you will be unable to return to this space and gain your rewards for a month of your time, even then if you do not perform adequately in that time then We will remove your qualification Ourselves.

It's work is not without benefit though, child. Until we meet again, strive ever forward..."

With that you feel the presence begin to recede, leaving the dreamscape within you reside as one more line echoes in your mind.

"Remember in the future that the Divine do not enjoy the wandering eyes of Mortals."

Time passes slowly as you drift in that featureless dreamscape, your sight focused on the drunken light wandering around a barely flickering spark that had once been a brilliant little flame. As if sensing your attention it weakly scatters multicolored lights that slowly form the same familiar screen as before...

Vessel has obtained one Heroic Legacy Point for expanding their Scholarly Code. Vessel has obtained two Heroic Legacy Points for successfully inheriting the Legacy of a Transcendant Being. Vessel has obtained one Heroic Legacy Point for resisting a mental influence beyond their own ability to defend. Vessel has obtained one Heroic Legacy Point for their first minion reaching Level 2. Vessel has obtained six Heroic Legacy Points for witnessing the true form of a Divine Entity and receiving It's care.

Rather than explode into light when you finish reading like the previous times the screen simply reforms at an incredibly slow pace, the words forming at the same pace as ants would dig tunnels. You remember the options of course and begin contemplating which to open...

Which category do you open?

Growing Lists, A Vessel's Traits
[X] Traits

A single thought is enough to send the panel into another cripplingly slow change, but you do not grow impatient as you simply sit back and watch it with a mixture of excitement as well as worry.

'Or whatever the equivalent of sitting is when you are just some kind of formless thought process.'

You think, taking some joy in the thought before focusing on the words forming anew with an instinctive that you have no restrictions to your purchase this time around. At the same time you find a number more options this time around,

'Does the Heroic Spirit perhaps grow with me? Perhaps the more I encounter, the more I experience, and the more skilled I grow then so does the Spirit?'

Before you can get wrapped up in your own thoughts you quickly turn your focus back to the options before you.

Basic Heroic Legacy Traits
[] Sturdy Physique [2] - You come to possess a body that is much more resilient than your original form allowing you to withstand roughly twice as much damage before your body gives out resulting in death.
[] Quick to Act [1] - You are fast to respond in dangerous situations, where others are still confused about changing events you have already begun to move in response to them.
[] Iron Clad Mind [5] - Your will is strengthened considerably under the guidance of the Spirit as if your mind has created the foundations of a fortress around it. With it's backing you are capable of putting up greater resistance against mental influences.
[] Awakened Heroic Spirit's Vessel [5] - You find yourself able to change the power the Heroic Spirit grants into a more suitable form for use in the real world. You can use it to withstand blows that would slay others, empower strikes to lay low enemies far beyond your reach, and more. Yet to do so burns the very power meant to help you grow stronger, turning long term gains to short term ones.
[] Lucky I [6] - You are blessed with good luck and it tends to favor you above others to some extent.
[] Swift Growth I [10] - With enough power the Heroic Spirit can even help you grow, increasing the rate at which you earn experience by twenty-five percent permanently.

Profession Heroic Legacy Traits
[] A Sage's Eyes [15] - You are capable of reading things tens of times faster than the average person and your mind perfectly retains the information read after just a single reading.
[] Wise Words [5] - When you speak on subjects you know and within your realm of knowledge on them you are incomparably convincing for your words carry a sense to them unlike any others. Wisdom is the tool of the long lived and successful after all.
[] Scholarly Determination [3] - You have embraced the path of a scholar even as you walk that of an Adventurer. It is a hard path to walk, but you seek to follow both to the very end. You are bound more tightly by your Scholarly Code, but are also driven to greater heights by it.
Recorded Traits
[] Aspire to Sagehood [4] - You've come to find yourself a seeker of all forms of knowledge and find it easy to learn those skills a scholar finds most useful. Perhaps with enough work you may achieve acknowledgement as a Sage, a master of countless fields of knowledge. Increased skill gains for scholar related skills.
[] Connection with Beyond [3] - You find yourself strangely connected to whatever realm belongs to those Gods, Deities, and Greater Beings. You are more likely to detect traces of the Divine or Transcendent.
[] Natural Gatherer [1] - You have a gift for the act of harvesting plants of all types and it makes your work in that area better.

Which traits do you purchase?

Or...

[] Refuse to buy any of them.

Health: Moderately Injured

Status Effects: Wounded Hands (Excellent Medical Care | -6 to any rolls involving your hands, penalty will decrease by 1 for each day that passes, when it reaches 0 the injury will be fully healed.), Severe Headache (-5 to all rolls), Injured Soul (???), Peckish (-1 to all Rolls)

Titles:

They Who Seek the Crown (Level One, 14/25) - A title earned by gaining the blessing of the God of War in a chance encounter with his will. It is a boon granted to those who seek to become like Lords, towering above the world with every action and word capable of bringing great waves of change. Currently it is weak and only grants you the power of Domination, but if you grow stronger and perform in a way that meshes with this Boon then perhaps its strength can grow.

Heroes can be Thieves Right? - In the name of Heroism you stole classified information from the Church of War without being caught. Now no innocent souls shall be ended with this dangerous knife, but ... yours might be if you mess up? Slightly increased chance of learning stealth and thievery related skills until discovered, lost if the Sealed Scroll is destroyed.

Ethical Scholar - A scholar's duty is that of facts, numbers, honesty, and boundaries. You have a devotion to the work of the written word that few would follow in the face of potential benefits. You seek simply to perform your work to the best of your ability and stand within the morals of your scholar code, even find yourself compelled to do so. Established personal Scholarly Code, sticking to it makes your work easier and better while going against it more difficult and with worse results.

It only takes a few moments for you to decide on which traits to purchase.

Sturdy Physique and Quick to Act would give you a definitive edge in battle, or at least the ability to get into one without coming out of it completely beat up.

Iron Clad Mind to safeguard against the myriad incidents that seem to float around everywhere in this town, not to mention maybe now you can get Guild medical attention without the Elf making you accidentally give away your money.

And finally, Swift Growth, the very trait you've been waiting for this entire time and the key to quickly reaching higher levels. If you can gain power quickly enough then just maybe you'll have the strength to deal with all these incidents you've been encountering...

The Heroic Spirit seems to understand your wishes and the screen shatters apart before drifting towards you lazily, dots of light in hundreds of colors slowly pouring towards you. You feel an incredibly sharp pain running through you followed by comforting warmth before the dreamscape shatters entirely. Once more sleep takes hold.

---

You are uncertain how long you sleep as dreams allude you, but eventually you awaken to a rather comfortable bed, at least far softer than the ones you've ever slept on. Opening your eyes, you find a softly lit and pure white ceiling above you, soft swirling patterns carved into the surface in such a way to be pleasing to the eye. From beside you a surprised voice calls out,

"Ah, you're finally awake Mr. Stitch. I'm very pleased you've recovered as well as you have, how are you feeling exactly though?"

Looking over you find a sad looking Valencia sat beside your bed, pristine white robes obviously disheveled with her fists balled up on her lap. Her eyes are slightly red and the corners of her eyes seem...

'Wait, was... was she crying?'

You think before sitting up, your body easily completing the action and your hands pressed against the bed without the slightest hint of pain bringing you to a sudden realization. Raising your hands up to eye level you find that they are completely healed, the pale white skin of your hands completely intact with only a dozen scars to remind you about what happened. On top of that the painful headache that had been following you for the past couple of days is gone...

You can't help, but let out a single word, "What?"

Only now do you notice the vicious rabbit curled up on your lap, its figure quickly standing up to nuzzle against your chest when it realizes you're finally awake. Valencia's voice carry over from beside you.

"You will be pleased to know that you have made a full recovery with even your soul being healed, it's incredibly rare for on outsider to receive the direct grace of the Great Tree That Embraces The Horizon. Before you begin to worry Mr. Stitch you naturally will not be charged for the care It granted."

Only after she finishes do you remember your myriad of concerns from the dreamscape, if you're healed then there's really no reason to stay here is there?

What do you do?
[] Quickly excuse yourself and leave.

- [] Write-in what you wish to read.

An Invitation of Sorts
[X] Ask if she was crying earlier.
[X] Question her about what happened.

You push down the fear and concerns inside of you, after all your soul is intact and the Heroic Spirit has strengthened your mind's defenses. Sitting up, you press your back against the wall and turn your head to the Dawn Elf with concern.

"You care to explain what exactly happened just now, Valencia? It seems to me that I deserve some answers considering I just came for a check-up only to have your God Tree suddenly crash into my soul like a troll into a wooden fort."

Your question only seems to push the Elven woman further as tears drip down her face, her hands clench the fabric of her dress even tighter, and her response comes out shakily.

"I... I am deeply sorry for what occurred, those capable of seeing my people's patron are almost always clergy of other Gods or strong enough on their own to witness the Divine. I did not think you were one of the few rare humans with an innate affinity to sense the supernatural.

You passed out while your soul was being repaired and I ended up moving you into that bed, was quite the challenge to do it alone."

She gives you a halfhearted smile, but you just furrow your brow in response.

"Why are you crying? It's not like you meant for any of this happen right?"

She shakes her head and stoops forward slightly before responding.

"I'm sorry, but I have taken a Vow, it's not something I can tell you. As a Dawn Priestess, breaking a Vow to the Divine Tree cuts off our access to It's power and without that power I couldn't heal all those who needed to be...

All I can tell you is that if you ever need it then you will always be welcome beneath the branches of the Forest of Light. It is a truly beautiful place, I do hope you see it someday, the way the Sun's light passes through the Guardian Trees' leaves is a sight beyond all else."

Towards the end she looks back up at you with a genuine smile on her face, your heart flutters a bit and you feel a gentle tug at your mind. However, you quickly notice the effect is far weaker than your last encounter. Apparently the Spirit's gift is truly effective at least.

What do you do?

  • Scholar Code I - No work is better than hasty work. {Provides +2 to scholarly rolls when you take your time, take -2 to scholarly rolls when you attempt to work with haste.}
  • Scholar Code II - Provide the facts to those that hire you, nothing more and nothing less. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code III - Judgement is the employer's job. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code IV - There is satisfaction in learning that which is known and that which is not. {Provides 2 bonus experience when learning new knowledge skills and advancing skill ranks.}
