Titles
They Who Seek the Crown (Level One, 14/25) - A title earned by gaining the blessing of the God of War in a chance encounter with his will. It is a boon granted to those who seek to become like Lords, towering above the world with every action and word capable of bringing great waves of change. Currently it is weak and only grants you the power of Domination, but if you grow stronger and perform in a way that meshes with this Boon then perhaps its strength can grow.

Heroes can be Thieves Right? - In the name of Heroism you stole classified information from the Church of War without being caught. Now no innocent souls shall be ended with this dangerous knife, but ... yours might be if you mess up? Slightly increased chance of learning stealth and thievery related skills until discovered, lost if the Sealed Scroll is destroyed.

Ethical Scholar - A scholar's duty is that of facts, numbers, honesty, and boundaries. You have a devotion to the work of the written word that few would follow in the face of potential benefits. You seek simply to perform your work to the best of your ability and stand within the morals of your scholar code, even find yourself compelled to do so. Established personal Scholarly Code, sticking to it makes your work easier and better while going against it more difficult and with worse results.
  • Scholar Code I - No work is better than hasty work. {Provides +2 to scholarly rolls when you take your time, take -2 to scholarly rolls when you attempt to work with haste.}
  • Scholar Code II - Provide the facts to those that hire you, nothing more and nothing less. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code III - Judgement is the employer's job. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code IV - There is satisfaction in learning that which is known and that which is not. {Provides 2 bonus experience when learning new knowledge skills and advancing skill ranks in them.}
Traits
Sturdy Physique - You come to possess a body that is much more resilient than your original form allowing you to withstand roughly twice as much damage before your body gives out resulting in death.
Quick to Act - You are fast to respond in dangerous situations, where others are still confused about changing events you have already begun to move in response to them.
Iron Clad Mind - Your will is strengthened considerably under the guidance of the Spirit as if your mind has created the foundations of a fortress around it. With it's backing you are capable of putting up greater resistance against mental influences.

Aspire to Sagehood - You've come to find yourself a seeker of all forms of knowledge and find it easy to learn those skills a scholar finds most useful. Perhaps with enough work you may achieve acknowledgement as a Sage, a master of countless fields of knowledge. Increased skill gains for scholar related skills.
Forbidden Scholar - You are more likely to notice lore and knowledge regarding those topics considered forbidden to the general populace. Of course, your affinity for these subjects does not create that knowledge where none exists.
Studious - You've become well acquainted with book learning and, while it will never be a good replacement for a teacher, have learned how to make the most of it. Increased skill gains when learning a skill from a book.

Swift Growth I - With enough power the Heroic Spirit can even help you grow, increasing the rate at which you earn experience by twenty-five percent permanently.
Skills
Mathematics (Beginner, 15%) - +4 to rolls requiring use of mathematics.
Local Administration (Beginner, 10%) - +4 to rolls involving administration of businesses and small land holdings.
Geography of Relgar Township Region (Beginner) - Capable of recalling information related to areas in the Relgar area that could be of use. Such as the size of a specific forest, important landmarks, etc.
Monster Knowledge (Relgar Township, Beginner, 45%) - You've memorized basic information provided on Vicious Rabbits, Giant Rats, Slimes, Monstrous Corn, Green-pelt Wolves, and Forest Bears.
Plant Knowledge (Relgar Township, Beginner) - You've memorized basic information provided on Red-Shelled Warmths, Blue Bells, Golden Leaf, and common herbs like thyme or poppies.
Copying Writing (Adept, 2%) - You've experienced copying countless documents, books, and records to such an extent that it's almost an ingrained instinct in you. Time required to copy any form of writing is reduced and chance of wrongly copying something is greatly decreased.
Evasion (Beginner, 15%) - You've learned the basics of positioning, and movement enabling you to react well to attacks sent you way. It's rather simple now, but even a slight advantage could save your life. Increases your Difficulty to Hit by 4.
Dagger Mastery (Beginner, 2%) - Through sparring and practice you have grasped the basics of fighting with a dagger. How to grip it so as not to lose the weapon in combat, basic and effective methods of attack from stabbing to slicing, etc. +4 to attack rolls when wielding a dagger.

Harvesting (Learning Beginner, 45%) - You are slowly obtaining experience in the act of harvesting plants and herbs. With some more work experience you are certain you'd be at least somewhat skilled in the act.
Skinning (Learning Beginner, 40%) - You have learned the basic knowledge one should know to begin skinning and harvesting the corpses of monsters, but to really come to understand it and it's uses you will need actual experience.
Haggling (Learning Beginner, 89%) - You have obtained a lot of insight into the act of haggling varying from the dos to the don'ts and you are certain with a bit more knowledge and actual practice you can put it to work helping you.
Identification (Learning Beginner, 10%) - After reading the book on Identification you have a vague idea of how the power works, but without a teacher to guide you in the absolute specifics you are unsure if you can learn to utilize this power.
Survival (Learning Beginner, 40%) - You are quickly becoming used to most basic of the basics when it comes to surviving outdoors, and with the help of some of your research materials you believe you have a decent grasp of it all. Only actively performing the actions and experience will tell.
Trapping (Learning Beginner, 20%) - Trapping is a rather simple subject, but the specifics are somewhat confusing to you with your rather limited life experiences. You have a decent grasp of theoretical knowledge, but will need to use it in the field to confirm.
Abilities
Domination (Level One, 5/25) - Allows you to bind creatures/monsters that are one level below you (to a minimum of level 1) to your will permanently. Unless the creature in question has a particularly strong will then the power is bound to succeed. Does not work on humans. [Dominated Beings: 1/2]
+ Dominate Writing (Level One, 7/25) - You've obtained a new power derived from your blessing from the God of War. It grants you the ability to draw strength from the written word though... You are utterly uncertain what that actually means. [Dominated Writings: 0/1]

Backstab - You force an opening in your opponent's guard and shift yourself into place to deliver a well timed, well placed reverse grip stab to the foe's back with great force. Such a move is straining on you, but has incredible effects when successfully performed. Make a single attack that deals four times damage to the enemy if it lands, uses a moderate amount of Stamina.

Information on Religion and such
As you already know the Kingdom of Eldast (for the most part) primarily worship the three Gods of Humanity as they're called. The God of War, the God of Knowledge, and the God of Death. Countless other religions exist throughout the Kingdom though the majority question such beliefs as they can readily see the miracles of the three Gods of Humanity, where are the miracles of these other religions?

God of War
The God of War is said to be the first King and founder of the Kingdom, each of the seven royal families are his descendants and are considered to carry both actual Divine Power and Divine Grace for being his descendants.

It is from these seven families that the next ruler is chosen, the seven houses collectively deciding on who should next take the throne from among their youth whenever the last passes. What process they use is unknown, but it is certain that every ruler of the Kingdom has been a demigod, the Divine blood within them so strong as to bear the closest connection to the God of War.

Clergy of the God of War are incredibly war-like, every initiate being trained in some form of martial techniques during their training in case they need go to war. They oversee the Kingdoms many orphanages for the children of soldiers who die in service to Gods, Kingdom, and People. Commonly they can be found tending to the people's spiritual health, spreading the teachings of God and priest alike to those in the most dire need of support.

Two sacred grounds exist for the Church of War: the Royal Palace of the Divine City from where the current Ruler sits upon the Bloody Throne, living Demigod and voice of the order. And the Heart of War, a vast fortress monastery built upon the Bastion Mountains from which the militant arm of the Church guard the realms of the Mortal Races.

The militant arm of the Church of War is the Cult of the Burning Sword, an order of knights raised from birth to the art of warfare and bloodshed set with only two purposes: Guard the Mortal Realm from demon-kind and enforce the will of the Church of War.

Common acts of worship to the God of War include ritual sacrifice of goats and cattle, dedication of the foes they slay to the deity, and the offering of one's own blood on specific holidays.

God of Knowledge
The God of Knowledge is known as the Lord of Libraries to most for it is said that much of the knowledge that forms the basis of the Kingdom's lore is from Him. His Church claims no descendants of his bloodline exist in the mortal world, but also ask what use are such to the wonders of the Crystal Tower, the heart of Magic in the Kingdom.

Clergy of the God of Knowledge are typically scholars, scribes, and mages who dedicate a portion of their time to spreading the gift of knowledge to the masses. They fund, oversee, and support the creation of countless basic scholastic academies across the kingdom for those who can afford it and orphans to attend. Clergy of the God of Knowledge are often somewhat reclusive buried as they are in their own studies and research, though most take the time to administer the faith to the people.

The most devoted of the God of Knowledge's believers will claim every library a holy ground to the God Himself, but in truth there exists only the Crystal Tower. It is the God's greatest gift and creation, a master piece of divinity and magic that towers over even the Royal Palace of the Divine City, playing home to the heart of magical education and study in the kingdom.

The militant arm of the Church of Knowledge are the Keepers of Knowledge, an incredibly odd order of spellsword scholars set on the task of safeguarding knowledge across the Kingdom and reclaiming that which was lost. Unlike the orders of the other Gods only those who volunteer and pass a series of test are allowed into the order rather than being born into it.

Common acts of worship to the God of Knowledge include writing down prayers and scraps of knowledge before nailing them upon the doors of any place of worship for the God, the burning of incense, and gifting of books/scrolls/etc. to others.

God of Death/Lady of the Grave
The God of Death, the unrelenting existence that enforces the final peace of death throughout the land. The Lady of the Grave who tenderly watches over the graveyards where the dead are put to rest, her comforting embrace ensuring an unending and peaceful slumber for those who past as she guides them to the after-life. A God of two faces, two existences merged perfectly into one yet separate all the same. Their children are many for all those untainted pass into the After-life to be watched over by the Lady's gentle care.

Clergy of the God of Death and Lady of the Grave spend most of their time caring for graveyards, preparing funeral rites and graves, and seeing to the peace of mind of those who have lost loved ones. While they build shrines, temples, and churches to worship most clergy of the two are wandering missionaries. Setting out to administer funerals for those in need, care for the myriad graveyards, and establish new ones when need be.

Every graveyard built by the clergy is truly a sacred ground, a gate to the After-life for the souls of the dead, but most prominent of them is the Unending Mausoleum of the Divine City. It is there that the bodies of Eldast's rulers, Heroes, and the greatest of soldiers are interred before being brought to the After-life by the Lady of the Grave herself. Or so the scriptures say. To be laid to rest in the Unending Mausoleum is an accomplishment that would bring honor to a dozen generations of descendants.

The militant arm of the Church of the Death are known as the Knights of Silence, their origins are unknown and their order is shrouded in mystery. Of all the militant orders the Knights of Silence are the most feared for is it not the instinct of humanity to fear the unknown?

Information about the Land and it's Management
The entirety of the Kingdom is broken down into nine dominions. One among them is ruled over by the King or Queen directly, the Divine City the seat of power granting the dominion the title of the Divine Dominion. Each of the seven royal families hold power of their own dominions, the lands themselves being named after the royal family line that holds power there. Finally, but not the least among them, is the Bastion Dominion which is managed by the Grand Marshal of Eldast who oversees the dominion to ensure the demons never break through.

Below the rank of dominion are provinces which are each centered around one (rarely two) city which is given management of the lands that fall within it's borders. In order to classify as a city the location must have a population of at least one million Eldastian citizens, a great church to the three Gods, and an Adventurer's Guild of comparable rank to the status of city. Provinces are controlled by a council of nine, made up of the heads of notable houses and rulers of important townships most often.

Beneath the rank of province are townships which are based around one to three towns depending on the area which oversees the villages below it. In order to classify as a town the location must have a population of at least a hundred thousand Eldastian citizens, contain temples to the three Gods, and an Adventurer's Guild of comparable rank. Townships are often ruled by a single noble house though in some rare places they are led by elected members.

Even further down is the rank of district which are generally centered around several villages led by a council of elected elders from the district's villages. In order to classify as a village the location must have a population of at least a thousand, contain shrines to the three Gods, and an Adventurer's Guild of comparable rank.

Finally, below those are settlements simply termed Hamlets for anything that doesn't meet the classifications above. They could be single family farms in the depths of the wilderness to settlements with tens of thousands of workings that fail to meet the requirements of advancement.

Birth of a New Adventurer
[X] Scholar of the Land

You quickly fill out the form, your writing neat and legible from years of transferring records at the school. When your done you slide the form back across the counter to the waiting receptionist. The young blonde with sparkling green eyes quickly breaks out into a radiant smile as she stops the form away.

"Well then, welcome to the Guild Mr. Stitch. As of today you are an entry rank adventurer, more commonly known as a Wood Rank Adventurer. You have access to all Wood Tier Quests, beginner's equipment from the Guild store, and the entry level area of the Guild Library.

Please work hard to advance your rank and obtain access to more of the Guild's service. For the sake of Eldast and it's people do your job well.

Now if you would, I have many more applicants to service."

At her prompt you step aside and find ten more people in line for registration. Looks like you're gonna have a lot of competition...

An Empty Store
[X] Look at the available goods in the Guild Store.

A quick look around the lobby reveals a a few doors and hallways with plaques listing the area they lead to - Library, Meeting Rooms, Medical Wing, Guild Offices.. Ah! There you go, the hallway right beside the reception desks leads to the Guild Store and with that confirmed you quickly head through it to find...

A barren store front? Behind a pristine shop counter you spot an elderly dwarf, his brown beard braided with metal bearing strange runes. It takes a few moments for him to notice you as his attention is focused on a single sparkling coin.

With a wave of his hand the coin seemingly disappears while his other raps the counter in front of him. Shortly after a metal plate appears on the counter bearing your likeness. Handing it to you with a grunt the old dwarf mutters,

"Here's your Guild Card, you can use it to access the various Guild facilities according to your rank. You can use it to access the available store whenever you're in this room by saying 'Browse Shop'."

With that the dwarf falls silent leaving you to your business. Somewhat flustered, you mutter out the shop phrase causing a light blue panel to appear in front of you.

After a bit of thought you quickly start tapping the items you want to purchase, the blue screen from nowhere rippling for a moment before the item gets quickly added to your purchase order. Within moments the majority of your GP, a currency exclusive to Adventurer's that can be used at Guild affiliated locations according to the receptionist, is spent for a collection of what you can only call the most basic of equipment. A quick tap of the "PURCHASE" scrawled in the bottom corner of the screen and the entire thing simply disappears to reveal the GP value on your Guild card rapidly ticking down. You spend some time staring at the weird, probably magical card in awe before your attention is broken by someone clearing their throat.

Looking up you find the dwarf glaring at you with a backpack raised up in his hand, wait what? How the hell did he manage to get that!? There's nothing anywhere in this store!

Before you can carry on down that line of thought the dwarf chucks the bag at you causing you to hurriedly catch the surprisingly heavy pack.

"Don't be so shocked newbie. It's just simple application of runic arrays, every Adventurer's Guild above at a township level or above is built to this kind of standard, they only really get more amazing as you go up though you're not ready for city work. The earliest you'd be able to find work at a city level Guild would be Copper rank, but I recommend you wait until Iron before upon that, large settlements tend to draw greater dangers and all.

Now, if you've not got anything else to buy then go on. I expect I'll have to deal with the other newbies before long."

A shake of his hand causes the shining coin from earlier to appear in the dwarf's hand, his posture telling you things are finished here in a way that causes you to grumble as you turn around and leave. Checking through the pack as you leave you easily find all the items you purchased easily stored within the bag.

[X] Guild Library

You head out to the reception area again to find the registration line empty, the others who signed up at the same time as you largely dispersed except for a three gathered around the wall spanning Quest Board on the far side of the lobby. Turning away from them, you head down the hallway leading to the Guild Library and find yourself facing a short hallway ending in an actual, solid metal door which actually shimmers as you walk up to it. A terse voice enters your ear from seemingly nowhere,

"Present your Guild Card to the door to enter, if you don't have rights to enter the Library then please leave."

You take the Guild Card from a pocket in your robes and hold it up to the door following which the light on the door disappears causing it to swing open, beyond it you see a room about as large as the lobby lined with bookshelves. Another metal door like this one seemingly leading into the next area is tucked away in a corner behind several tables and chairs meant for readers.

"Be aware that any damage to Library contents can result in lifetime ban from all Guild Libraries, or even disbarment from the Guild. I'll be watching."

After that you are left in silence, the main door slamming shut behind you as you enter. A quick glance at the shelves reveals they're organized according to categories that are listed on metal plaques attached to the shelf. Local Monsters, Local Geography, Basic Adventuring Knowledge, etc.

What do you browse the bookshelves for, if anything?

Guild Rank Info, also Fairy Tales are bad?
[X]Adventuring beginner advice
[X] Local monsters

You immediately head over the section for Adventurer's advice and take down the first book on the shelf, it's plain leather bound cover bearing a just as plain title "An Adventurer's Guide to Basics". Clutching it, you walk over to one of the tables and take a seat before cracking the book open and immediately diving into its contents which turn out to be quite useful.

---

Little information is explained to new adventurers joining the Guild as a form of test, non-inquisitive or those only seeking quick fame and wealth will find the job incredibly challenging. Such an act puts the lives of new recruits in danger, but it's better a few overly zealous idiots die than they end up waking a sleeping Lich that proceeds to turn the countryside into the Land of the Dead. Considering you are reading this then chances are you're not a complete fool, so allow me to introduce you to the basics of the Adventurer's Guild.

Adventurers are essentially mercenaries, but instead of waging wars for Nobles or Land Owners we combat the endless problems the people of Eldast face from simple herb gathering requests to slaying Dragons and combating Fell Elf tribes. What requests an Adventurer can take are based on their Rank which starts at Wood and goes up to Venerated Hero, more difficult requests requiring higher ranks to take on in order to lower the chance of failure and limit deaths. In order the Guild's Ranks are: Wood, Porcelain, Copper, Bronze, Iron, Steel, Silver, Gold, Mithril, Master, Grandmaster, Hero Aspirant, Lesser Hero, Hero, Grand Hero, and Venerated Hero. As it stands the most wide spread Adventurer Rank is Iron with several hundred thousand members at that Rank while the Guild has over a thousand Lesser Heroes, three hundred Heroes, eighty-seven Grand Heroes, and a mere eight Venerated Heroes as of the time this was written.

In order to increase your rank you simply need to complete Quests from the Guild Board, each quest granting a number of Rank Advancement Points according to it's difficulty, but be warned: Failing a quest will result in a loss of twice the amount of Advancement Points that you stood to earn, and if you hit zero then another failure will cause you to drop a Rank even being kicked out of the Guild if you fail while holding Wood Rank and zero points. Do note, newcomers are granted a safety net of two failures before points are lost though these are lost the moment you Rank up.

....

Many of you likely think that the Guild Store offers a rather pitiful variety of goods at your Rank, but that is simply a lack of thought on your end. Just a slight amount of effort and a newbie can use the offered goods at Wood Rank to put together some incredibly useful items: stuffing a rag into the mouth of a flask of oil and lighting it allows for the creation of an impromptu fire bomb, covering rags in the offered poultice allows the staunching of bleeding with a lower risk of infection and increased healing speed, and much more. Good gear can be commissioned for money earned from Quests, but ingenuity and improvisation is priceless.

....

For new adventurers I recommend taking requests that are closer to your original set of skills, a lot of the jobs for those of Porcelain or Wood Rank have to do with just assisting the common folk in their daily lives. These jobs are generally largely ignored, but are a more guaranteed method of progression even if it is somewhat slower than being hired to go kill some Vicious Rabbits or investigating a cave to find out if the Guild needs to dispatch higher ranked adventurers to clear it. Besides, you would be surprised what some of the simplest people can present you as a reward if you manage to do their request well.

---

You close the book with a thud, you've not finished all of its contents, but you feel a desire to check out some of the information provided in another section before the day comes to an end. After placing the book back where you found it you head over to the section labeled "Local Monsters" and grab the first book on the shelf, a rather barren one only carrying two other such books. On the front of this one you find "Common Beasts, Monsters, and Dangers of the Relgar Township Vol. I" somewhat satisfied by the rather name you quickly return to your seat and start to read it.

---

For those reading this a forewarning is important: Forget all the things you've heard in fairy tales and fiction stories if you'd like to live a while longer.

...

Vicious Rabbits are a species classified as Dangerous Beasts as their internal quantity of mana hasn't touched the requirement for Monster classification. Vicious Rabbits are slightly large than the typical rabbit with shiny white fur, blood red eyes, and razor sharp teeth that can tear through leather like it's paper. They originate from the arrival of Demons in the world when mana was thrown into chaos, suddenly some rabbits became infected with small traces of mana leading to mutations that led them down the path of carnivores. They have rather weak constitutions with one or two blows from the average man wielding a club more than enough to end them, but their bite should still be avoided due to resulting bleeding being likely. Wood Rank adventurers are more than capable of handling one or two such creatures, but teams are recommended to fight packs. If you find yourself without a team, running is recommended. Also blunt weapons are recommended when hunting to better preserve the hide, their appearance make them worth a bit of coin.

...

Giant Rats are a species classified as Monsters due to the high internal concentration of Mana. They grow to the size of large dogs, are capable of crushing stone with their bite, live in groups of at least ten, and are incredibly unclean creatures. Porcelain Rank Adventurers are allowed to hunt these creatures, but its recommended you either form a part of five or simply wait until you're a higher rank and thus more skilled before dealing with them. While their bites can deal significant damage the true risk brought on by Giant Rats is the heightened chance of infection brought about from the uncleanliness, detoxification products are recommended if you're incapable of slaying them without being injured. They are scared of fire, but beware driving them into a corner with such means as a berserk Giant Rat is a terrifying thing.

Learned Monster Knowledge (Relgar Township, Beginner, Partial); Earned 2 Experience.

After taking a while to memorize the first two entries in the volume you relax back in your seat and take a moment to rest your eyes. Your mind starts to wander as you do onto your course of action, reading is good, but considering when you came in it's likely noon already. If you want to complete a job you'd likely need to go choose a Quest now. There's also the issue of where you're going to stay considering you spent the last of your money on registration fees and your departure from the School left you uh... well, bluntly, without a home.

Let Us Find Some Work
[X] Search the Quest Board for work.

After putting the book back where you got it you then head back out to the lobby where you find a person in full plate with a greatsword on their back standing in front of the Quest Board, thankfully its the section for Copper Ranked Quests. Walking over to the left side of the board you find it surprisingly densely packed with requests, several of which are the same request though from different people, which you begin to read through searching for work.

Payment: Thirty Coppers, 15 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 10 Experience
Description: I need an extra set of hands or two to help bring in the harvest, if you're willing then please take this request and come to * Farm.

Payment: 1 Silver, 50 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 15 Experience
Description: I could use a second set of eyes to go over my books for the year's income. If you have the time and skill then please make your way to the Jolly Fox Inn after taking this request.

Payment: 1 Silver, 60 GP, 2 Rank Advancement Points, 20 Experience
Description: Some of the older documents in the Temple are beginning to fade and we simply do not have enough clergy, or time to rewrite them. If anyone would like to assist us then take this request and then come to the Temple of War in the heart of the town, surely you know it. Room and board are to be provided as it's expected to take several days to complete.

Payment: 50 Copper per 3 Golden Leaf (Quality does matter), Variable GP, Variable Rank Advancement Points, Variable Experience
Description: I have need of as many Golden Leaf as you can get your hands on, quality is important so insure proper storage. You can find me at the apothecary on the south side of the town, Gerald's Apothecary. I've provided drawings for those who've never seen Golden leaf and they can be found on the outskirts of Relgar's Northern Woods. Please only come when you have Golden leaf to deliver, I am a busy man.

Payment: 10 Copper for every pair of Vicious Rabbit ears, 5 GP for every pair of Vicious Rabbit Ears, 1 Rank Advancement Point for every ten pairs of ears, 1 Experience per every pair of rabbit ears.
Description: A rather ridiculous number of Vicious Rabbits have taken to destroying the eastern fields and after the death of several farmers Relgar's Lord has set down a bounty for the little bastards. After accepting the request bring proof of your slain foes back to the Guild to earn your reward. Also, don't damage the fields. Those who wantonly destroy the Lord's land in search of profit will find themselves at the end of his Knights swords.

After finding a few of interest, and purposefully avoiding the half a dozen requests about a missing cat or dog for the time being, you take a step back. These are your best bets to get some work in today and hopefully find a place to sleep today, some food wouldn't be too bad either...

Which Quest do you take?
[] Harvest Request
[] Bookkeeping Assistance
[] Transcribe Old Records
[] Harvest Golden Leaf
[] Exterminate Vicious Rabbits

A Heroic Spirit?
[X] Transcribe Old Records

You take down the notice for Transcribing and walk up to the reception counter where you find the lady who handled your registration still hard at work, piles of documents on either side of her as she scribbles away. As if sensing your arrival her head looks up to stare at you the a moment before you reach the counter and you're left to sheepishly hold up the Quest notice. With a slight smile the woman takes your Quest Notice and starts to talk,

"Alright then, Mr. Stitch. Excellent choice of a first job, I'll go ahead and register this as your active quest on your Guild Card so feel free to head there right away. I'm sure you have a lot of work ahead of you, have a nice day."

As she speaks the last word she immediately turns back to the documents she was working on, your Quest notice seemingly disappearing amid the stacks of paper which musters a shrug out of you as you turn to leave. If it was another task you might need to search the town a bit to find where to go, but luckily for you the Temples can always be found at the center of ever town with all three placed around a statue of the God of War, founding King of Eldast and Royal Ancestor. Besides a temple to the God of War there are also temples to the God of Knowledge and the God of Death making up the three central Divine Beings of the Eldast Pantheon, other regions have some lesser deities they worship as well but Relgar is not such a place.

It doesn't take long for you to arrive at the center of town, lost in thought as you were the entire trip it feels like barely any time has passed. In front of you lie three rather plain marble temples arranged around a massive granite statue of a man bearing a crown. His face is grim, his eyebrows sharp, but his eyes seem to carry a kind light that looks over all those residing in the town as if the smallest sign of danger would lead this statue to take up its stone sword in defense of the people. Tearing your eyes away from the magnificent statue, you head towards the temple built directly in front of it's feet, red banners bearing a sword and crown revealing its nature as the Temple of War.

Just as you take a step towards the Temple everything seems to freeze in place, people stop mid step and birds freeze in place in the sky above you. You would look around in awe if it weren't for the fact that you feel a searing focus fall on you from ahead, instinctively your head raises up to find the statue of the God of War come to life with a faint smile upon it's face. Red light seems to adorn the statue like armor and you can clearly see gold flowing in it's eyes that makes you shiver to your core as a faint desire to kneel radiates through you...

"Interesting, truly interesting. A Heroic Spirit is born in such a small town in the body of a mere scholar who hadn't even took his first step into the world at large. Well then, you can consider this to be a destined meeting, Heroic Spirit. Since we meet here today by chance then let me offer you a boon to speed you on your journey. Do you seek the Crown or the Sword, Heroic Spirit?"

His last words are like an explosion, their utterance causing the frozen town to shake intensely and yet you are more focused on the fact that a multicolored light has begun to shine from where your heart is. You have no clue what he means by Heroic Spirit, but you feel the need to answer his question all the same, after all you're the only person here besides that statue who can move.

What do you answer?
[] Crown
[] Sword
[] Neither

Seek the Crown to Stand Above the World, and the Priest with a Strange Fountain
[X] Crown

Your reply comes to you almost instantly as you speak out,

"The Crown, I seek the Crown."

In answer the golden light in the statue's eyes seems to scatter as you find yourself surrounded in a golden cloak, bits of golden light flowing into your body as a searing pain spreads on your brow. Faintly you hear the voice again, this time as if from a great distance as it seems to fade away with every word.

"So be it, Heroic Spirit. All I ask of you is to Seek the Crown, stand above the world and achieve greatness in these times of cruelty or pass away while leaving a flame to kindle hope among the people. Good luck, you who is both blessed and cursed."

As if perfectly planned, the pain fades away and time seems to return to the world the moment the last word is spoken leaving you standing in confusion in the town square as passersby give you some hesitant glances. Composing yourself, you continue your journey to the temple as you realize a new piece of knowledge has embedded itself in your mind telling you about the boon you were granted which leaves you truly awestruck. With a thought you know it would be easy to drive the power inside of you out and bind a lesser creature to your will permanently, and perhaps with time even control sentient beings such as humans in much the same manner.

Such a power could be easily misused and yet the God of War seemingly trusts that you wouldn't abuse it? Truly odd...

Gained Title: They Who Seek the Crown, Gained Ability: Domination, Gained 10 Experience

You decide to throw those thoughts to the back of your mind as you finally reach the foot of the stairs leading up to the temple, a bald youth standing in front of them clad in plain red robes with a radiant smile. Seeing you draw close he quickly calls out,

"Ah, welcome good sir to the Temple of War. I am Neophyte Julius, what is it you seek at the Temple this day? If you wish to pray to the God then I would gladly lead you in your prayers, or perhaps you seek to donate to the Temple's cause?"

One of your eyebrows raises at the enthusiasm displayed in the last part of that question, but you suppress the snide comments about a priest so desperate for donations long enough to draw out your guild card and answer.

"I'm John Stitch, Wood Rank Adventurer. I'm here for your request to copy some of the Temple's older documents, who do I need to see for that?"

In response to your question the radiant smile of the novice priest's face turns into an impressive grin as he hurriedly grabs you by the arm and brings you into the temple, your steps oddly bringing forth no sound as they meet the marble stairs. After a few moments you find yourself dragged into the temple proper, a much smaller scale of the statue outside sitting at the heart of the temple surrounded by... wait, is that a fountain filled with blood?

Yep, that is definitely a fountain filled with blood. An older priests with golden ornaments and embroidery on his robes is slicing a rabbit's throat to let the blood drain into the pool right in front of you while a few dozen people are scattered throughout the temple and kneeling towards the statue in the center while praying. You are left to stand behind Julius for a few minutes until the older priests finishes whatever ritual he was performing, slight traces of red light that are almost imperceptible flying from the pool to adhere to the priest, worshipers, and statue. After the old man hands the corpse of the dead rabbit to one of the worshipers you are led up to him by Julius, the Neophyte excitedly launching into an explanation.

"Father Briar, this man is from the Guild and he's came to help us with copying the old records. Does this mean I don't have to spend the early mornings reading those dusty old things and rewriting them?"

A soft laugh escapes Father Briar as he shakes his head at Julius, his voice a strangely soothing source given the current atmosphere.

"Ha, don't think you can worm your way out of it so easily Julius, since this one is here I can hand the job of transcribing some of the more legible yet still faded works to you instead. I am quite certain this man will manage to transcribe the records with fewer errors than your impatient self, consider it a test to temper your patience Julius. Our God's domain may be that of war, but it is not some fool's way of reckless bloodshed. Temper your will so that even centuries will not erase your determination.

Now, as for you Sir. Thank you for taking up the request, it was quite stressful leaving such an important job to this foolish child and I am too busy tending to the flock to have time for such a task. If you would follow me to the Founding Records room Sir..."

"Stitch. John Stitch, Father. It's a pleasure to be of assistance to the Church."

Your words bring a smile to the man's face and he quickly sends Julius to tend to the worshipers while he leads you to one of the doors at the back of the temple, it's aged wooden frame opening into a dimly lit stairwell. Following Father Briar down you quickly enter a long hallway barely lit by a row of torches, a dozen doors adorning either side and with some truly strange symbols carved along the walls. You find the temperature here to be rather cold, not uncomfortably so, but definitely a noticeable difference from above.

As you take in the sights around you, you are lead to the last door in the hallway which is pushed open to reveal a small chamber that is adorned with three bookshelves, a table and chair, and an alcove off to the side with seemingly freshly changed bedding. On the table are a variety of writing instruments and necessities with a candle burning away on a corner of the desk.

"This will be your workplace for the duration of the request, all of the documents and scrolls that need to be transcribed are those on the bookshelves. If memory serves correctly then roughly forty of them remain, most of them rather short as these are largely the personal effects of some lower ranked clergymen. Feel free to read them as you copy if that's what you wish, anything of true value to the Church is kept in much better conditions after all. I'll have Julius come down to bring you food and candles at meal times, now if you'll excuse me I still have much to tend to."

With that Father Briar turns and closes the door to the archive room leaving you to look around in curiosity as you wonder how to handle this task, it'll take a few days that's almost certain but it's easy work.

What do you do?
[] Proceed to transcribe the records, but focus more on getting the work done quickly and efficiently than actually learning anything from them.
[] Proceed to copy the records, but take the time to read each document carefully, your attention will still be split but perhaps you'll retain more this way.
[] Forget about copying them for now, just read them and focus on memorizing anything of use.
[] Write-in.

Copying Dusty Scrolls About A Farmer?
[X] Proceed to copy the records, but take the time to read each document carefully, your attention will still be split but perhaps you'll retain more this way.

Something about a room of scrolls and documents set you at ease as you pick up the nearest scroll from the shelves and carry it over to the desk to begin transcribing it onto the new, higher quality paper of the current kingdom. You settle in and quickly set out your own writing tools for a scholar is most at peace with those things he's personally obtained, the mechanical quill easily coming free of its leather pouch before you dip it into a fresh ink jar and fill it. Pulling over a blank, pristine sheet of paper you begin your work and unravel the somewhat tattered scroll to reveal heavily faded and even damaged words. You set about the process of reading and writing simultaneously, your quill swiftly flowing across the page.

---

Under the Divine King's order we have traveled to this wasteland under the guidance of the Great Farmer Relgar with hundreds of loyal subjects, our task to turn this withered waste into land suitable for a kingdom to arise. I do not mean to question one of the three Saviors, especially the Divine King, but... is such a person able to achieve what He asks?

...

I understand now the folly of my uncertainty, to doubt the Divine King and those he has chosen to carve out a new world for those who escaped the Empire's Fall was truly the ideas of one who is blind. Today I witnessed the Great Farmer Relgar at work, one strike from an ordinary hoe and it was as if the earth for miles bent to his will as the soil seeming;y tilled itself and thrust rocks from beneath the surface into neat piles to be collected. When he noticed my awe struck gaze the man simply gave a smile and gave a truly simple answer.

'For those who follow a path to the end even the most mundane things can turn into miraculous abilities.'

With that he trudged away with a h- *the next few sentences are far too damage for you to recreate*

...

When we first arrived here some months ago I expected this project to take decades to begin to bear fruit, but even as I write this I look out at fields of budding wheat and young saplings taking root in once useless soil. Already the village is well off enough for us clergymen of the Three Saviors to begin work on simple shrines devoted to them, just in time as well for word from Great Bastions tell that the Saviors and armies that safeguard this new land are hard pressed to push back the Demon Lords and their minions. Even the smallest amount of faith may yet give our Saviors... no, our Gods on earth, the strength to throw them back. Praise be to the Divine King Eldast Numeros, He Who Wields the Bloodied Blade, God of War, and Master of the Last Races.

Learned a fragment of ancient knowledge regarding the late period of the Era of the Fall, Learned a fragment of knowledge regarding seemingly transcendent mundane skills, gained 4 Experience.

It is an arduous process to read such timeworn scrolls, and even more to transfer them to new paper in a format that retains as much as can be grasped from them yet before it is even time for supper to be delivered you have already completed the first scroll. Neatly laying the transcribed pages aside, you place the old scroll into a basket carefully before retrieving another one from the shelves. This time you find the document to be less interesting than the first, it's contents largely describing some of the basic rituals and duties of newly accepted Acolytes of the God of War preaching of the need to seek out lost souls, protect the masses, and guide the flock alongside anointed clergy.

Not long after you finish copying it you hear a knock at the door followed by Julius entering with a tray in his hands, the fragrant smell of beef stew enough to cause your stomach to grumble in hunger. At first the Neophyte greets you with a smile, but halfway through placing the tray on a small ledge beside the sleeping alcove he notices the two copied scrolls in the basket, a looking of amazement flashing on his face.

"Wow, you already copied two of them? I found it difficult to even finish one in a day, those musty old things are so dry and always prattle on about events from so long ago it doesn't even matter. I even fell asleep copying one of the a few days ago, woke up to Father Briar hitting me with a cane for lazying about. Anything interesting?"

How do you reply?
[] Tell Julius about the seemingly magical abilities of the namesake of the township.
[] Tell Julius it's nothing special really, just the journals of long dead priests.
