-----
You have research projects now. Actual researching instead of cribbing off other people's work. That combined with a new project leads you to become a veritable recluse for a fair amount of time. Dragon's really have a distorted sense of time compared to mortals, so it's only when three months have passed and Guivzi comes into your workshop that you have realized the amount of time that has gone by.
"Wayland?" The goblin girl looks at you with a frown. "When was the last time you left your workshop?"
"Huh?" You blink a few times. "Had to go out and get the supplies from the Tuskarr, but that's it. Not that big o' deal."
"I do like to check up on you occationally you know? The dragons might not see anything wrong, but you've not left your workshop since I last visited. We are going out." Guivzi grabs your arm and drags you away. "You can talk to me about your work if you want, but enough on this."
"All right, all right." You mutter, and grab at a ring you've been working on. "Got things I gotta try anyway."
"Really now?" The girl looks at the item you grabbed. "What's that?"
"The druids got some interestin' tricks. Can't do it by myself, so this would help." You gesture to the totems still lingering around you. You could swear there were more than before, but they like to come and go, and love to hide too. "They sorta gave me a bit o' power too."
"Interesting tricks you say." Guivzi shakes her head and pulls you out of the workshop. "The Loa might be less viscous since they 'adopted' the horde, but they are no less dangerous. Be careful with them."
"Eh, got an understanding. I make em trinkets sometimes, and they don't make my head explode." You chuckle and brace yourself against the cold.
It's getting into the really cold time you feel. It's hard to tell sometimes though, since it's always at least chilly in Northrend. You focus a bit on the ring, and feel the power hum.
"Wanna wait till I talk with the Night Elves before I do the final run with this." You gesture to the ring. "It should work, but I need ta be certain."
"Good a place as any. I need to contact them anyway. A new market would be good, and even better a nation that doesn't mind Orcs." The Goblin Girl nods at you.
With a smile you head out. "So, ya wanna know my projects?"
"Yep. Lay em on me." Guivzi nods at you.
"Well, got a strange thing from the Bronze flight. They had me make a hammer, then did some magic puzzle on it." You shake your head. "Can't even study it too long without gettin' dizzy, so been taking my time with it. It's arcane magic, but of a strange sort that I don't even have an idea about yet. Big puzzle that's harder than anythin' I've ever seen."
"Huh." Guivzi looks up at you with a raised eyebrow. "Now that's interesting. Something that stumps you is pretty rare."
"Eh, nice challenge ta keep me busy." You shrug and place your hands along your head. The snowy ground crunches against your feet. "Aside from that, I got the idea ta use the Arcane Press technique with other powers. Not been goin' that well, but can see the potential."
"Really now?" Your companion looks at you with an amused expression. "You do know that is an experimental process right?"
"Eh, got it down with Arcane at least. All it really is is magically saturating an area. The tricky part's keeping it contained. That takes hours to setup for just a part. Might need ta get something to make it easier first." You frown in thought. "Maybe somethin' like a big metal pressurized container?"
"You'd have to build it from scratch." Guivzi gives her input. "Or have it built for you." She frowns in thought. "I know a few engineers that might be able to do that, but they would cost a pretty penny. Good hundred gold easily. Likely triple that if you want it to not explode catastrophically after a few times."
You snort. "Goblin engineering."
"Hey, explosions are fun!" The goblin next to you chirps.
You roll your eyes and continue on that vein until you get to the copse. You actually see some activity this time, and you raise your eyebrow as several Night Elves come out of the tree line. All of them watch you with wary eyes, and you wonder a bit at what's going on. The next Night Elf to come out has both of your eyebrows raise. She's dressed in a white outfit that you'd call skimpy on anyone else. On her, it just makes her more lovely and dangerous looking. She's arrestingly beautiful in a way that makes you want to stare.
Yrel comes out with her, and smiles as waves a bit. She stops as the Night Elf in white moves forward. Right within arms length. You catch sight of a beautifully crafted bow on her back, and struggle not to stare. You've seen good work before, but that bow is quite literally the best you've ever seen. You find yourself craning to see it, and you see Yrel giggle.
"So you are the mortal who's so impressed the dragons?" The Night Elf woman states, and then sees your behavior. Your attention snaps back to her to see a flash of outrage, and then understanding. "A craftsman to bone I see."
A smile almost graces her face, and she pulls the bow out of it's resting position. "Built for me long ago by a dear friend. Please feel free."
You smile giddily and look it over. The string twangs a bit as you play with it, and you can hear the wood flex under your grip. This is a very, very good bow. One you could not replicate it.
You hear something smack, and look over to see Guivzi's hand over her face and a look you can't interpret on it.
"I gotta be honest. Best bow I've ever seen. Thank ya." You bow respectfully and hand it back.
"As far as greetings go, that is not the worst I've ever had. I am Tyrande Whisperwind. And I am here to see what the mortals are stirring up." The Night Elf glances from you to the goblin. "Goblin and human. I was under the impression that relations between your species was tense."
"Not with Wayland here." Guivzi points to you. "But yeah. I'm Guivzi Dampgear. I can speak for the Horde. If you like, we got a lot to go over."
"That would be possible." Tyrande inclines her head. "Craftsman Wayland?"
You shake your head. "Gotta speak with your druids ta work on something o' my own. Plus don't do politics." You shrug and pause. "If you need anythin' though. I will gladly make it."
"I might see later." The Night Elf nods to you. "Send a message if you will, my time of late is quite sparse, but I would be interested in seeing what a mortal spoken so highly of is capable of."
You nod and watch as the Night Elf and the Goblin start to walk off.
There are more than one druid in the camp now. All of them are actually rather interested in the ring, and it's effects. There is a lot of initial hilarity when you shapeshift though. Even though the isntincts come with the ring, it's still awkward learning how to walk again. Much less fly in a dragonhawk form.
The Lynx form is easier in a way. Though still difficult. You get a few good tips for that though, and are quite pleased with the results.
Guivzi is still talking when it's gotten dark, so you head back home yourself. The interaction starting to weary you a bit.
The door to your workshop is open. And you see Tyrygosa shifting around nervously in Elf form. You blink a few times. Considering how casual she was beforehand, this is a fairly big change.
"There a problem?" You have to ask.
"Oh, no problem!" Tyrygosa shakes her head, and smiles fakely. "The Blue flight got your message, but I can't say we have any requests at the moment. There might be call for something soon, but I can't say when. I'm here for something else."
"That is?" You raise an eyebrow.
"Can I hide here for a year or two?" Tyrygosa asks meekly and you feel both your eyebrows raise. "I'm just embarrassed to be seen by others right now, and this place is the only one I can think of where other dragons won't bother me."
"Huh?" This is unusual.
"Turns out Kalecgos didn't react well to being pushed. It got just a tinnny bit too public." You didn't think a dragon's false form could actually blush. Good to know. "It's going to be the talk of the entire flight for the next year."
