Hey, hey Reika. Ya wanna get through this with what's left of your reputation intact? Tell the same story as this guy did and don't get into the fussy details.

[X] "You can pet it if you want. It doesn't bite."

Exactly like us!

Also we should take a grief dump.

[X] It's the reward it deserves. Tummy rubs.

clearly, Kyuubey finds us too interesting to allow us to be killed like that

Maybe it'll share the secrets of immortality and multiple body/consciousness generation with us?

What, if not relaxation, is sensed by Kyubey when we rub him?

Reika simply stared on with wide eyes as you scratched Kyubey's stomach. The creature fell silent under your touch while Reika tried and struggled to comprehend what was happening. Well you can't blame her, pretty much a lot of magical girls had the same expressing when you and Kyubey were back in the meeting room. It was only through this that you kept it from saying anything stupid.

Yes. Tummy rubs. Run rub rub rub.

Reika glanced at Sai, "She's making him putty in her hands! What the hell is this?!"

"While it doesn't relieve stress by shooting the little guy, it does seem more effective in shutting him up," Sai replied as she crossed her arms.

"She's treating him like a cat! Literal Satan! As a cat!" Reika snapped as she pointed at Kyubey, "And he's enjoying it!"

"Please, I am not enjoying this. If I were then that would be tantamount of me feeling joy in the first place which we all know is a human defect-" Kyubey started saying before you went under its chin to scratch it.

"Hush," you murmured as you petted it some more.

"You're insane," Reika told you with a sour look.

Kyubey opened an eye and said, "Well isn't that ironic coming from you?"

"So I can hazard a guess that we're next in the chopping block?" Sai asked you with a raised eyebrow.

"Indeed. You will have to corroborate our story. To an extent, Kyubey will help confirm them so long we ask it the right questions," you replied as you petted it. The creature swayed its tail in a more sedated state under your touch, "But first, we need to get rid of eavesdroppers."

Reika and Sai raised their eyebrows before they both held their Soul Gems. Kyubey perked up at the sudden spike of magical energy encasing the room. There was a loud cry in the distance before you finally relaxed.

You don't know how long those people have been listening but you an only hope they haven't for long. Either way, as long as you kept this farce up then you can make it out with just a slap on the wrist. But that would require having Reika help.

She glared at you from the side as you let go of Kyubey to face her.

"I need your help," you asked her.

"And why would I help you? Isn't your existence why we're here in the first place?" Reika hotly answered with a narrowed look.

"You stuck up bitch. You're the one-" Sai began but you held up your hand.

"Because it can help me help you," you answered calmly. Reika seemed surprised by that but was more than willing to listen. You took this chance, "If you deviate from what Kyubey will confirm, there's a large chance that we'll be exiled... Or worse. This organization values their rules enough to get that far."

"And you're not wrong to think that. It is only though these processes that the organization survived this long," Kyubey chimed in as it jumped to hop on your shoulder.

"I didn't make any mention of what you told me regarding Yuri. No doubt Yuri did not confess either. And while it may be easier for us all to be punished..." You paused as you crossed your arms to meet her gaze, "You don't want that once we've come this far."

"Excuse me?" Reika frowned.

"I've seen the complacency of this organization, of the other Named. And you know you can't catch that Assassin alone," you said as you stepped towards her, "You'll need me because I'm one of the few with the drive to find out the truth."

Reika grabbed you by the front of your clothes and pulled your close. Sai made to stop her but you held up your hand.

"You're stepping out of your place, Corpse. You're a mockery of everything Yukina stood for. And I won't be so easily swayed by your words, especially if it means you'll stick around," Reika snarled as she glared at you from up close, "I won't be swindled."

"And where will that take you? Take us? As it stands we can get off lightly. But if you choose to speak out, then you will lose potential allies," you offered with a slight tilt of your head.

"Allies... You crushed my allies!" Reika snarled at you.

"And you really think that after all you've done, there will be people still willing to come under your banner?" You replied as you stared right back. Reika hesitated as you held her wrist, wrenching it aside, "Getting two of your members killed, haphazardly sending girls against an unknown enemy, making the lot of them fight a Named they know they're outclassed by, having the guard you in your failure to have Yuri confess."

Reika jerked her hand away from you as she backed off. You patted your clothes as you let out a sigh.

Sai herself stepped forth and said, "You're in hot water. If you mess up, you'll really end up alone."

Reika looked down to think before there was a knock on the door. The thin film of magic vanished as it opened to have a girl step in.

"Reika, you're up," she said with her arms crossed. Reika walked past you then to follow her.

You sighed as they both walked away before looking up, "Kyubey. Did I convince her?"

"Who's to say. But you are fortunate it was you who did it," Kyubey said it jumped off your head to walk in out the door, "If you didn't have that face, she wouldn't be so inclined to listen. The advantage of her sentimentality was in your favor. You did well using that."

Sai grimaced as she crossed her arms, "You did what you can. The rest is unfortunately up to her."

.....
....
...

An hour passed.

You were called then and there. You sat with Yuri, Reika and Sai altogether. The other magical girls seemed to have left, leaving only core members and some veterans to witness their Leader's decision. Ayana waved at you from the side but you only had eyes for Kaguya.

"We've heard your reports and deliberated upon them. As such, we will now pass judgement," Kaguya smiled as she held out a piece of paper, "For Yuri Uchida. For the illegal creation of a GriefBorne this violating the Asunaro Treaty and endangering our organization, we here by sentence you to Excommunication. It is only just given that our Eastern counterparts would only see this as right. Now as for your Theft of organization Seeds for your project, you are hereby banned from receiving Seeds from members of the Organization. You will hunt on your own or alongside independents that are willing to take you in. You will also be barred from organization establishments and services for two years."

No deaths. Just Excommunication. As well as a full on ban on everything the organization can offer. Yuri closed her eyes and let out a sigh. If it were any other magical girl, going solo would be tantamount to death.

Fighting Witches and other magical girls off will take its toll. Not only that there's the matter of territories to be thought of.

"For Reika Minami. For the unjust management of your faction, violating executive orders and obstructing organization representatives from doing their jobs, your title as Captain will hereby dissolved and you will be demoted on your rank," Kaguya continued as she had a thin smile on her lips, "You will also compensate the girls severely injured in their time under your command. How's one grief Seed do each sound?"

Reika tensed up and grimaced as she could only lower her head. That's... Not good. How many Witches needed to be hunted down to that? How many brushes with death? It may not be an execution order but it was still heavy....

Still, as long as she was alive she can find the Assassin. She hadn't ratted out Yuri yet.

"And finally, the GriefBorne. There has been an extensive deliberation on how to handle your case. For one, Tokyo will not be silent on your continued existence. For another, you can be of use. You've done well in your position underneath Sai Aoyama's supervision and she has given us a favorable report of your actions. But it remains that your very existence must be addressed one way or another. You are a threat," Kaguya said as she set down the piece of paper. She then continued with her eyes on you, "But you still have something that is ours. The Seeds implanted in you originally belonged to our organization. And they still do now."

"So what are you proposing?" You asked with a frown.

"Simple. We own you. So long as you live, we will own you and you will answer to us. Tokyo would have not accepted this deal without us dealing with Yuri first but now we are free to keep you. While it would have been smarter to nip the threat of your seeds hatching, we have confidence that you can control yourself..." Kaguya said as she cracked a smile your way, "You will not die today but instead live for us. You will be dispatched throughout Osaka to give aid when called upon. For now, you will remain under the supervision of Sai. We look forward to your continued service to our organization, Yukina."

[X] "So rather than a member, I am a property of the organization. I can be assigned and reassigned to any members as the organization sees fit. I can be destroyed or disposed of when needed. I am not entitled to anything from the organization. In that case, at your service."

In addition, we do not take orders from anybody but our supervisor(s). We are not bound by the rules for members and will not be punished for violating those, such as rules on territories. We can still 'have things (Grief Seeds) in our inventory'.

We can say, go into Sai's territories, kill a Witch or two from there, and give those Seeds to Yuri, assuming she needs our help at all. These Seeds will belong to one of 1) us 2) Sai, in which case Sai would put into to our inventory 3) the organization, in which case we will go through the process of getting it assigned to us. In any case, Yuri did not receive Seeds from a member of the organization.

So yeah, not a bad deal, although it can be better.

[X]No. To be property would be to cede too much control to a group which we cannot rely on to have our best interests at heart and may possibly be harboring the assassin we seek. We may not be able to avoid organization punishment for long, but we do not need long.

I say this because while Sai is overseeing us for now, that may be changed to someone less sympathetic without opportunity for our objection, and even under one such as Sai that kind of power imbalance is unacceptable.

Well shit. It's not as bad as it could've been. We're still working for Sai, and Sai still wants what we want. Reika got smacked, but she's been nothing but trouble so far so fuck her. Yuri's screwed without help, but Sai will probably help us fudge the numbers, so she's got that much at least. But yeah, whether Yukina gets treted as a person or a thing is now going to be determined by how much someone likes her.

Or fears her.

Still wish we had some inherent freedom as opposed to just having Sai on our side.

Doesn't work that way. Any rules she breaks instead fall on Sai. Break them enough and Yukina gets destroyed, or transferred to someone who'll keep her on a tighter leash. These people have to deal with Kyuby, trying to play the rules isn't going to end well.

Some of the most powerful people in the city are sitting right across from us, right now, and are more then happy to see us dead. This isn't a choice, the decision has been made. Now we see what we can do within these restrictions. Besides, Yukina only needs to act when called on, and nobody wants to be near her. So she likely won't be called up that much, which just leaves us with doing whatever Sai wants us to, and Sai is happy to let us do whatever. This is really good for us, it just sounds bad.

[X] "I have to do whatever Sai tells me. When someone has trouble, I have to deal with it. If they feel brave enough to call on me. Fine."

... This ain't a deal they're offering us, bud. It's an ultimatum. Which is apparently slavery.

It is because of the boss already having to deal with Kyubey that we can use the loopholes. The boss isn't stupid, she can see the holes just as well as we do. And she would've closed them, if we are not supposed to play around that. We have seen how the Boss was acting in regards to us, she is clearly trying to steer things in favor of us. Therefore I'd wager we would be overlooked until directly called out going around the rules, and the Boss expects us to do so.

Hm.
Let's get a better lawyer and appeal. Clearly Kyubey didn't pass the bar test on his own merits.
