Powers Quest (Original/The Gamer) [Sort-of Hiatus]

You keep not voting to interact with any members of your gang... despite all my hints about skills they can teach you... and only talked business with witch-doctor, so she didn't get any emotional attachment to you... I tried, dammit, I tried...
You had MC in character terrified of witch doctor, and then the second time we met her she tossed us into hell before we could go anywhere with it...

And our gang keep on threatening our life if we don't go out and earn enough money real quick to hire the contractors to fix up our dump to be liveable.

that being said, I would like to interact more with gang. Also, we really should arrange for the whole electricity thing.

[x] See if lifebane is willing/able to teach you the basics of their magic now.

Good points all. Added that to my vote.

To a guy with no combat ability and barely any idea of his powers, the witch-doctor is pretty damn scary, but Alex is dumb/naive/optimistic enough to get over that surprisingly quickly. That said, you failed to question her on her name, the weird group that she mentioned belonging to, or basically anything that might have led to her thinking of you as more than a client or an interesting specimen, and thus still have no idea as to WHY she ended up throwing you into a hell-plane. You also failed to follow up on a couple of other things that would have led back to her, thus missing out further. Eh, well. It'll come up later, probably.

They won't really kill you! To be honest though, if you'd taken certain actions, you could be fairly wealthy by now, but you decided to start a singing/acting career instead of doing anything that would get you immediate financial gain. So... long-term planning, I guess?
The gang would be pissed off with your lack of leadership if you just slacked off completely, but your doing things with them has kept their loyalty and friendship 'ratings' pretty solid (and the ability to have a shower without going to the local swimming pool will definitely raise morale), so it's not a huge deal at the moment.

Plumbing will be completed tomorrow, so you can do that after, although you'll need to find a discreet electrician (unless you want to work on a skill for that). And gang interaction is always a good thing to do! Apart from the skills they can teach, among other spoilery things, it also raises general loyalty/friendship, which may be important later.

Also, off-topic but: because long-time Zen quest players may have forgotten and newer ones won't know, BACKGROUND THINGS ARE ALWAYS HAPPENING in my quests. Just because something weird happened (X) number of updates back and then never got mentioned doesn't mean it was dropped. It's worth checking a newspaper or going online now and then.

Can we spend a point on getting Ray Mad Science soon? Because I really want both that and magic and it looks like we'll have the basics of magic on track anyway. And we all know that if we don't do this now we'll be dillying for another ten updates making tacos or some shit.

Sure, just get people to vote for it. Or to spend a point on making super-tacos. Either one!

--[X] figuring out what her abilities are, magical and non-magical, and how they fit into the script, figuring out there's anything she'd be uncomfortable with or straight out refuse to act out, and getting input on what she'd like her alter-ego to be called.

Because those are the parts we need her input on, while general fiddling with the script can be done at any other time. Getting her input on names and stuff might also make it obvious what gender she is, which I don't know if we know in character. Do we? @Zen

You know it's a skeleton. A glowy-eyed skeleton! Due to the non-specific voice and the few articles Alex has read just calling her 'it' or 'he', he has no idea, but if pushed, would lean towards her probably being a guy. That said, Alex's thoughts are mainly revolving around 'A SKELETON, HOW COOL!!1one!' rather than ''Gee, does it have a metaphorical dick-bone or a metaphorical vag-bone?'.

I may have missed this, what are tokens and/or super tacos?

Sorry, I don't understand what your point is.

Sorry, that was following a post by you but wasn't in response to you. It was due to the inevitable (we did join and become president of her fanclub) 'let's bone LIFEBANE' comment. We can only praise that it took this long. We are the very model of restraint.

Tokens are rarely earned rewards for bullshit rolls, that can be used to make even more bullshit things happen to twist the plot/gain an advantage/fix a situation, and can be used at any time, via popular vote. You have several at the moment, listed on the Basics part of your char sheet.

Super-tacos are meaningless nonsense.

I like Crime City. I want to stay here. We're better off in a place where the cops are overworked and corrupt.

Also, looking back at our character sheet, while the "convincing people when you're being friendly" title is obviously more useful at getting LIFEBANE to teach us magic, we should absolutely be pushing this Little Dragon thing in general. It has shiny questionmarks!

Gotta say, I don't really care for Mad Science per se. We're getting magic, after all. Now, enchanted items and eventually magitech might be cool, and once we have the magic, I might be willing to toss some resources at *that*, but getting both Magic and traditional Mad Science just seems... thematically muddy. It takes us in too many different directions (something we're already prone to)

Also also looking back at our character sheet, we should absolutely keep pushing the Acting skill. We already have enough to pass the quest, but the quest notes that the better we are at it, the better the rewards get.

I am not so sure we should include lifebane in the script writing. I don't get the feeling that scriptwriting is a talent lifebane possesses.

We're using LIFEBANE as a consultant here. She knows all of the stuff she can do magically, she has insight into what she'd want to play at and what she'd be good at playing at, and so forth. Also, having another set of eyes/ears to bounce things off of can be useful even if it's someone who isn't all that good at the thing themselves.

Alright, fair enough

Am I the only one interested in grinding? We can find a non-skeleton to be our waifu later.

[X] say your goodbyes to Lifebane, and spend the night working on a skill
-[X] Songwriting
--[X] Sing the songs you write in new random times to grind both Composition and Singing

Then tomorrow we need to steal some instruments using our Inventory.

I looked at the quests tab and the skills tabs in the character sheet. I know we have a lot of time, but there's a lot in that produce the music quest that we haven't touched in a while.
