Pokemon Orange Version

Can we... can we not use the chair?

Alas, it seems Tododile's tiny arms aren't up to the task.

I'm reminded real strongly of the knight tourney in the movie Shrek.

we can use the the chair as a chair while we watch our pokemon battles, no longer will we be standing all the time.

[x] FIGHT!
-[x] SCRATCH
--[x] With your teeth! Don't pretend you don't know how, I've been told about your taste for fingers!

Even if they were strong enough to lift the chair, your Totodile isn't able to get the leverage to use it in a battle. This is why my fairy warrior in Dungeons: The Dragoning abused her magical flight to get away with using a darksteel chair that was about as tall as she was in battle.
I mean to take the chair with us after the battle is over, you never know when you needed one after all.

[X] FIGHT
- [X] SCRATCH

It's a steel chair! And Granny Murder is playing innocent in her dirty tricks.

Good morning. Since I figure you're all gonna do Scratch after this turn as well, I reckon I will write the next two turns on that assumption. Stat moves don't stack in Pokerole like they do in the games anyway.

Battle: Rival Florence & The Machine 03
[X] FIGHT!
-[X] SCRATCH

Totodile bares her teeth at Rowlet, ready to strike!

"Alright, he's weakened! Use Scra--"

You don't even get the chance to finish the order when your pokemon dives into combat to deliver a mean Scratch!

Scratch: Accuracy Check
Totodile's Dexterity + Brawl = 2D6
4, 6 = 2 Successes!

Scratch: Damage Roll
Totodile's Strength + 2 - The Machine's Defense = 3D6
3, 4, 5 = 2 Damage!

Totodile's nail strikes true, scratching the plastic nose on The Machine's Groucho glasses!

-2 HP

The Machine lets out a hoot in pain!

"Don't let her push you around! Tackle!"

Tackle: Accuracy Check
The Machine's Dexterity + Brawl = 2D6
3, 6 = 1 Success!

Tackle: Damage Roll
The Machine's Strength + 2 - Totodile's Defense = 2D6
5, 6 = 2 Damage!

The Machine lands a hit, pushing Totodile back and over the steel chair! She stands up, but Totodile's on her last legs!

-2 HP

You don't let up. You're not out yet!

"Scratch!"

Scratch: Accuracy Check
Totodile's Dexterity + Brawl = 2D6
2, 5 = 1 Success!

Scratch: Damage Roll
Totodile's Strength + 2 - The Machine's Defense = 3D6
1, 6, 6 = 2 Damage!

Totodile strikes back with a wound to The Machine's wing!

-2 HP

"Ha! That's gotta hurt!"

Your mom cheers you on! Someone from the crowd walks away, because this isn't nearly as interesting as I am making it sound! Even so, the next attack that hits will determine the match!

"Give it all you got!" Florence shouted at The Machine! "TACKLE!"

Tackle: Accuracy Check
The Machine's Dexterity + Brawl = 2D6
2, 3 = Failure!

Florence's Rowlet flies towards Totodile, but he veers off course at the last second!

The Machine missed!

Totodile doesn't take your cue to move. She intercepts Rowlet and goes for a decisive hit!

Scratch: Accuracy Check
Totodile's Dexterity + Brawl = 2D6
4, 4 = 2 Successes!

Scratch: Damage Roll
Totodile's Strength + 2 - The Machine's Defense = 3D6
3, 3, 6 = 1 Damage!

The scratch lands true! The Machine rolls into a ditch and the match is over!

-1 HP

The Machine fainted!

Totodile gained 1 XP!

Florence crossed his arms.

"Aw man! Aura! I can't believe you beat me!"

He retrieved The Machine and put the minimized pokeball in his pocket. Florence then walks up to you.

"That was a good battle, Aura, but next time? You're goin' down to beatdown town!"

"Au-rel-i-a," you correct. "Is that too many syllables?"

"It's not punchy enough!"

"Whatever, dude. See ya later."

"You will!" he said as he walked towards his house next door.

"That's what I said!" you reply as you walk to your house.

"MY SON WILL BE AVENGED!" your neighbor cries in dispair!

"Suck it up, Richard!" your mom shouts with glee! "Aurelia! Let's order pizza to celebrate!"

You nod with a smile. That was close, but you and your pokemon pulled through.

"Good going, Totodile."

You bring your hand close to her head, and she bites on the leather glove. It doesn't feel as aggressive this time. That might be the numbness talking, but this bite feels more... cheerful?

Oh well. Progress is progress.

You have won your first battle!

You won 10 pokedollars!

Introductions Part 4 will end with you leaving Flavortine Town and finally starting that journey to be a POKEMON MASTER!

Only 10 Pokedollars!?

I guess Florence spent all his money on Protein...

EDIT: From the Discord:
"Pokemon Dollars, or Pokedollars [is the] same currency [as in the games], in the same ballpark as yen."

We weren't allowed to tell him "Smell ya later"....

0/10 Worst battle ever.

(jk, battle was great :D)

On that note: Pokerole uses USD (or the local equivalent) for convenience, but I'll be using Pokedollars to be authentic. Prices of stuff should be comparable to what you can expect in the games.

So 10 Pokedollars is equivalent to 10 yen, or is it equivalent to to 1100 yen?

Is it too late to trade him in for someone richer? Someone who at least has more than 20 cents in his pocket?

I want a classier Rival. Can we get one of those rich Chuuni types?
