Thus the votes are closed. We will use The Compromise Variant.

The next topic up for discussion is combat. The quest is able to proceed now, but combat should be fixed ASAP. I think it's serviceable at best.

It's likely that the quest will return to its regular schedule very soon.

But for now, I want to ask. Do you know ShrineFox? He's a Persona Modder.
Soon..very soon. He will stream Persona 3.

...Chaos Edition.

You might want to watch it, cause I know I am and it will be hilarious.:V

Combat Changes
Right...I've been busy AF and it's only gonna get worse until the end of the month.
For now, I'll explain what was discussed in the rework thread as shortly as I can.

  • The combat system will be largely unchanged, but there are exceptions.
  • -Kaja and -Kunda spells will give an increase/decrease of 10 instead of 20.
  • Status Ailments have been included.
When an attack can cause an Ailment, there's just a roll that determines if the person or enemy is afflicted with it. Resistances and Bonuses will just be modifiers tacked onto it.

The Status Ailments are as follows:

Panic: Persona Summoning/Spellcasting becomes impossible. Opponent can land Critical Hits at 90+ rolls.

Rage: +30 to Attack Rolls, but Evasion Rolls automatically fail and Defense Rolls recieve a -20.

Fear: Every turn, the afflicted will roll a d100. 20 or lower means they run away. 21 to 40 makes them freeze in fear. Anything else allows normal actions. Opponent can land Critical Hits at 80+ rolls. If Reo is afflicted, his Courage is treated as Rank 1 until calmed down.

Distress: Evasion Rolls automatically fail. Rolls count as Critical Failures at 20 or less. Hama/Mudo spells gain a 10% Success chance.

Poison: Greatly increases speed at which one is fatigued. Most rolls receive a flat -10.

Charm: The afflicted is enthralled and starts attacking allies and defending foes. If Reo is afflicted, all plans are ignored until the mind control wears off.

  • There was a secret mechanic which changed Personality Stats as you went through social events. It has been removed but you will still keep the benefits of it.

  • Some Specializations are Passive and activate automatically, while some you must activate manually (by saying so in your plan). Some of the former have a cooldown, while all of the latter have one. I don't think I ever mentioned that in this thread.

  • Healing has been reworked.
To heal someone, you must take them somewhere safe. When you're dealing with Tartarus bosses, you can find refuge with ease in the first floor of Tartarus, but Full Moon Shadows will be harder to keep away from the wounded. You might need to get creative to secure a location or else you'll have to finish the fight as fast as you can.

Once that is done, you will have to asign specific people to work on the healing. Their SP will be reduced when they do so.
You can put more than a single person on healer duty, which will speed up the rate of recovery and split the ammount of SP spent between them.

If the wound is light enough, or enough people work on healing, that person might get back into the fight.

This is the best case scenario. Things won't go that well all the time. If the wound is too large or there are too many wounds, that person won't be able to participate in the fight anymore even if everyone pitches in. If that happens, you can choose if you want to stop fighting (which isn't an option during Full Moons) or if you want to go back into the fray without that person. If you choose the latter, you will have to leave someone on healer duty if the wounds can get worse.

On top of all that, the wounds might make the person reluctant to keep fighting, even if you manage to heal them quickly.

If a wound is far too big for you to handle, or too many people are hurt badly then you won't have the choice to fight anymore, everyone will retreat and work on healing.

Lastly, you may learn to use First Aid and Trauma kits to accelerate and ease healing. This will come later, however.

I'll try to slip in an update or two if I can.

Early Evening
As you step inside the dorm, you see Ikutsuki at the lounge, reading something on a large binder.

"Oh? Hello" the man turns to face you and nods as he greets you "How was your day?"

"It was okay" you say with a shrug "I mean, it felt a bit...bland, I guess. The day just went by without anything worrisome happening"

"I see...Is that really a bad thing, though?" he asks with a genial smile "I would say that it just means you've got used to everything. With the exception of the Dark Hour and Tartarus, you must have acclimated to all the daily going-ons of Iwatodai, woudn't you agree?"

Cupping your chin, you begin to consider the idea.
Okay...what have you done since you arrived?

You...talked with Fuuka, messed around in the Arcade with Junpei, walked around and bought things, ate at familiar places, and you met a magic woman who at one point sorta-kinda-maybe tried to kill you.

"Nope" you say "Definitely not"

Ikutsuki tilts his head a little bit and looks at you in confusion while you shrug and grab the control for the TV, turning it on as you sit.

"I...see" he says as he resumes his reading "I hope you are able to answer 'yes' at a latter point"

"Mh...me too" you answer.

Evening
After channel surfing for a bit, you decided to watch a strange anime called 'Tsubarashii Sengoku'. Midway through the commercial break, Junpei joined you and Ikutsuki went upstairs, probably to the command room.

Today's episode involved a 50-foot tall Toyotomi Hideyoshi fighting Warrior Monks and an army of Oni-masked Kabuki Actors with laser beams fired from his helmet. That was an...interesting depiction of the old warlord and the warring states period as a whole, if nothing else. Junpei started laughing at the ridiculousness of the whole thing.

However...

"And that concludes tonight's special on Apathy Syndrome. Now we cut back the studio." the voice of the announcer drones on before you turn off the TV.

Right after the show ended, the news came on with special coverage of Apathy Syndrome. It was a short, 15 minute long thing including info on the first recorded case, the most popular theories as to what might actually cause it and even a few interviews with the families of some of the victims.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Junpei asks as you let out a sigh.

"Well it always keeps coming back to Tartarus" you say "It's looming in the background menacingly. We can't just ignore it..."

"Yeah. But, hey! We can do something about it" he replies with enthusiasm "Why don't we go to Tartarus today?"

"No" you rebuke him "There's really not much of a reason to g-"

You cut yourself off as you feel a small ache where the big Shadow hit you.
You are going to need to get stronger in case something like that happens again. On top of that, since you are in charge, no one goes to Tartarus unless you say so. If you slack off on training, you are depriving the others of their own chance to do so.

Junpei looked about ready to protest so you spoke up, saying 'I'm thinking'.

You're doing well enough in classes, so you can't use that as an excuse either.
...Alright, do you want to deal with Tartarus today?

No. Not really. But you can't just put it off every single day either.

"Tomorrow" you decide "Let's go tomorrow and on the 20th. That good?"

He grumbles a bit, then shrugs "Alright. That seems good enough..."

Right. For now, you've got some reading to do and a room to clean...

My Alerts work once more! Mwahahahaha! Tremble puny mortals before the might of a divine dragon! I shall crush all with my claws-

*cough cough* I mean, I will vote, calmly and regularly, like a human. Yes. Like a human.

Anyway, voting, yes.

-[X] Go out.
--[X] Naganaki Shrine
---[X] Stop by Tennouji's for an offering and some food for Reo as well as Takako.

I think this is the meet Takako option right? I added in the food thing because she seems to like it, plus I think we have the money to afford it.

*Edit* And Megaolix, I'm pretty sure everyone only ever takes that option on New Game+. And sometimes not even then.

Let's stay away from killer Fried Tofu man please.

That works for me given she should be the focus anyway.

But guys, remember that he'll probably suspect something is up if we just avoid him.

Oh well, I guess there's not much votes since there haven't been any actual updates in a long while and a lot of people must have thought the quest was dead.

Votes Closed.
I'll write the update later.

Mostly, I think the issue is the sandbox problem. Without a clear objective in mind and with far too many options, people will have no idea what to do.

You know what? I'm seriously considering the idea of creating some sort of achievements system to do just that or maybe something else. A clear objective should encourage people to take action.

Anyways. Update incoming. It'll be a short one, but the next one should make up for this one's length...hopefully.

The loose reminder system of P5 worked well as that. You could use the boss shadow arrival dates or stuff like that.
