Pathfinder Campaign: Here, There Be Dragons.

Hmm. let's just go ahead and move all the in game details to the IC thread, including rolls, and save this for rules discussion and such. Sorry to keep changing things, I'm not very experienced at running PBP games.

Did I learn a command word?

can I tell the others what I did, assuming the collars all work exactly the same (not saying it will work, just asking if its something I can tell them)

No. You're not entirely sure there is one, you mostly got lucky in prodding the thing with your magic. You do notice that the item is strangely made, it's magic is shifted a few frequencies. This makes it slightly harder to activate, but you wouldn't think that'd be enough to justify the extra trouble that must have gone into creating it.

It's an opposed combat maneuver role but you are the gm. Whether you want rolls for opposition or not is up to you.

EDIT:I mean the tentacles make a grapple check and we get opposed combat maneuver rolls but it's up to you.

Are you sure? I don't see anything about you getting opposed rolls. Not until your turn, anyway.

So grappling works much differently in pathfinder than it does in 3.5. My bad. Should we all roll initiative?

Yeah, that would be good. I'll go ahead and set up a roll20 tomorrow, so we at least have a place to keep a battle map.

The simple answer is to assume that it isn't actually an anti-magic field, but some other effect that prevents us from casting.

It feels like an anti-magic field. So far as you can tell, it seems to fit the description perfectly, except that the devils are ignoring it, and the collars are still working, whatever they're doing.

Did we not get damaged by the black tentacles?

And now I have to look up grapple rules. Sigh.

Without my collar can I use magic again?

So, most of us are being grabbed... while still being in cramped cages? Still, I am not a happy dragon, and this thing is bad touching me.

That does seem strange, doesn't it...
Grumble grumble darn modules giving everything and it's grandma unique mechanics.

As soon as I ger out of this cage, somebody is taking some solar fire to the face. And the devils will be all "Haha! I am immune to fire." And then I'll get to go "I have Primal Fire(EX), so no you aren't. Now burn, baby, burn!"

Oh right, yes you all take 1d6+4 damage.

Even in character, that seems very odd to you. That's not supposed to be possible, though clearly they found a way...

That's technically a (Su) ability, not an (Ex) one. [/nitpick]

Edit: Ignore that second die.

You didn't answer if I can do magic now?

I'm assuming not, that its not the collar stopping us.

Can my wings fit outside the cage, since I can fold and unfold them, can I make some type of check to just stick my wings out?

Oh, Verath and Lu-Hsia, you both notice that the devil did something strange when she cast that spell - she took the extra time and effort to make sure that the spell only used a few frequencies of magic. This is a difficult trick to pull off, especially considering the fact that it doesn't actually do anything, except maybe give you a slight advantage against someone trying to dispel or counterspell you who hasn't noticed the trick. It certainly shouldn't be worth the effort, but she did it anyway.

No, you can't do magic. You can try and stick a wing out the cage, though that's practically begging for the devil to hit and possibly break it.

And how difficult would it be to copy those "frequencies?"

Wait I know about magic being a different frequency on the collar thats something you can choose to do at will?

If I wanted to do that, what type of check (if any) would it be?
