Oglethorpe's dream: A Colony of Georgia quest

Ok so I made a map on paint of what North America looks like in the quest. But since I'm technologically incompetent does anyone know how to get a map from my files to this site?

If you have discord account then you can post it on there then use the insert image function on this site to link to that.

Or you use one of those meme generator, make no changes, then copy their forum link then post here.

Did France lose all their continental holdings already? Wow.
The French and Indian war/seven years war went OTL so they lost their continental holdings. But in the American Revolution they picked up Jamaica and a slew of smaller Islands from the U.K and took all the British forts in Senegal. The Dutch also took a chunk out of the British Empire to.

Good map. You might want to threadmark it.
Is the 1763 proclamation still in effect? I assume the Choctaw and Chickasaw are still there. Are the regions west of the line just unorganized?

As for Dragoon, I was really thinking about bounty hunting but didn't want to go all anarchy capitalism on it. So instead we have a calvary that also double for man hunt duties.
Bounty hunting is not something militaries do. Policing is something militaries sometimes do, but that is not a good thing. The way things are set up now, the militia is part time military and disaster relief, the constabulary is divided into municipal units and county wide gendarme units (which can cross county lines if the assembly declares an emergency). What is really lacking is a province wide law enforcement organization. So we need a unit of provincial gendarmes, or Georgia Marshals, or a Georgia Bureau of Investigation, or Georgia Rangers I guess, just so long as they aren't called dragoons. Here's two definitions of dragoon from Merriam-Webster:
1. to subjugate or persecute by harsh use of troops
2. to force into submission or compliance especially by violent measures
It's not a name you'd want to put on the Assembly's law enforcers.

U.S.A 1784

Official name: United States of America
Demonym: American (official)/Yankee (unofficial)
Capital: Rochester, Federal District (surrounded by New Hampshire & Massachusetts)
Type of Government: Federal Model favoring the States
Currency: Shared power of the State and Federal Government
Foreign policy: Member of French bloc but relations with Great Britain slowly thawing out of pragmatism
Leader: John Adams

History since the American Revolution:
The United States of America was formally granted Independence by the Kingdom of Great Britain on May, 16, 1777. This was scarce comfort to the newborn nation as they were surrounded by their former masters to the north and south. It was determined by everyone that there would have to be some kind of Federal Government to protect the people from the British who still surrounded them.

Thus on October, 17, 1777 state delegates assembled at Springfield, Massachusetts to write a constitution to govern the new nation. The resulting document while stronger than the articles was much weaker than proponents of federalization would have liked. With almost all powers staying with the State Governments. During the convention after several compromises Vermont entered the Union as a State and Rochester, New Hampshire was ceded to the Federal Government to serve as the national capital. As compensation the Federal Government ceded vast amounts of unclaimed western land to New Hampshire and took on most of new York's debt.

Taxation: Shared by Federal and State Governments.

Military: Shared by Federal and State Governments.

Foreign Relations: Power of Federal Government

Education: Power of State Government (In the Federal Lands the Federal Government controls education)

Currency: Shared power. The Federal government mints a coin based currency while the States print paper based currencies.

Commerce: Power of the Federal Government

Natural Recourses & Agriculture: Power of the State Governments.

Post office: Power of the Federal Government.

Justice: Shared by State and Federal Governments.

Local Government: Power of the State Governments.

Everything else: Power of the State Governments.

If it's a name change then they are now mounted rangers. I mean "Dragoon" to me is cavalry with guns, and cowboy wasn't appropriate.

The codification of local government specified that the Province has its own Provincial wide police force. But if your just talking about armed police the County gendarme is placed under provincial command of a state of emergency is declared or a county is declared to be in rebellion against the province.

The tax and tariff reform part.
Alright, so we don't have all that many tariffs as the homeland shot down any attempts. Tbf, we probably better off not employing any. Taxes get a tad tricky.

Taxes, if I remember the QM's statement, are the primary way the government gets money, and it's the small, in the range of pence. However, considering our abysmal population and population growth rate we'll need to wait literal generations before we see any increase. On the flip side, we are mostly free to trade with anyone and the Trade Commission sort of protects us from France flooding the market. I think a viable way to gain more cash would be to get local merchants to trade with the Dutch as they control South Africa, and thus a reliable access to stuff from the East. After several years, the government sneaks in some low level tariffs, and bam, a modest income.

I don't mean to be a downer but we were just at war with the Netherlands like seven years ago and the Dutch snatched like half of the Caribbean from Great Britain. If we started actively encouraging trade with the Dutch H.M's government would be frothing at the mouth in anger.

-[] Rangers: It had shown time and again criminals are cowardly lot, fleeing at the first sign of justice. Georgia government will establish a unit of mounted rangers dedicated to hunting down criminal and outlaws. They will also be the first standing military force for Georgia.
Just how many in a unit?
Might as well make it bigger to build up an professional army a bit.

As far as I can tell, Georgia still has a flat income tax of 5%, which is pretty much unheard of in this era of tarrifs and excise taxes. Our other revenue includes arsenal sales, charter company revenue (probably still loss makers considering we just started those), public pub sales (substantial I suspect), and foreign tariffs. The financial situation shouldn't be bad considering that a lot of public services are actually locally funded.

I would recommend making the income tax progressive with a raised top margin. Corporate taxes could be tricky, because it will likely require some negotiation with Britain. Capital gains should be counted as income, but we may need to expand the tax office before this is practical.

Considering that we have had the same tax rate for thirty years, and that Georgians rioted over it until they were bribed with alcohol and democracy, I think any major increase should be premised on providing some important service that benefits everyone in the province. Public schools, maybe.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Could be 20 could be 100, i haven't got the faintest idea how many body makes a functional unit.
In the Napoleonic wars British cavalry was usually 100 in a troop, 2 troops in a squadron, and 5 squadrons in a regiment (one of which served as a logistics unit). We could reduce that way down tho, we aren't going to be fighting at Waterloo any time soon. (These were a regiments nominal strength. The average regiment at Waterloo had 460 men)

According to a prior info post, besides the flat income tax we also apparently have a tariff on France.

So I propose the following:
[X] Plan Domestic Improvements
-[X] Provide incentives for developing worker cooperatives to develop our industrial and service sectors
-[X] Establish a census to be conducted every five years in order to keep track of our demographic and economic standing
-[X] Establish a Georgian Seed Bank to be available to all farmers and scientists
-[X] Revise taxes and tariffs:
--[X] Transform flat income tax into a progressive income tax
--[X] Impose tariffs on Dutch goods

Long live the Dragoons vote closed

-[] Rangers: It had shown time and again criminals are cowardly lot, fleeing at the first sign of justice. Georgia government will establish a unit of mounted rangers dedicated to hunting down criminal and outlaws. They will also be the first standing military force for Georgia.

-[] Powder Factory: Gun powder are excellent merchandise, ships and mines uses them in great quantities. Get a unionized charter company in on this business.

-[] South Carolina: Send an official letter of thanks for South Carolina's comradery. Offer to improve relationship with gift of a "Friend" Ship.

-[] Neighbors: Make friendly gestures to our neighbors, attempt to improve relationships with them and ease budding hostilities.

-[] Farmer's Bank: There are banks for money, but there isn't a bank for seeds. We should fix it but establishing a bank that caters to needs of farmers. This bank will also be responsible for seed reserves and introducing foreign crops to ambitious farmers.
