You walk up to Dorian, offering him a hand, "Koko and Cottla are probably worried by now, I won't keep you away from them any longer."
A small smile is visible through Dorian's beard, and he gives you a nod before letting you help the older man climb to his feet.
As pain settled into both your bodies as the night finally took its toll you were basically carrying Dorian as you limped back to the village.
You didn't talk much, ask if he thought Paya would be alright as with dawning horror you finally digested what Dorian had said.
The Yiga had been watching the village. They had to have known when Zelda left. Which meant they didn't try to kill her until she got near where you were staying.
The implications of what that could mean left you silent all the way back to the village.
The Yiga attack, and the revelation of who the Maiden of Spirit was shook the village in overt and subtle ways. The bodies were burned far from the village, and there was a general tonal change with how they addressed Paya when the elders visited the manor and spoke of the importance of her role.
Yet a paranoia stretched into the village, and it was now not uncommon to see the elder Sheikah carrying old, long unused weapons with them as they went about their day. The village guards were now out almost constantly, jumping at the slightest shadow. Children didn't play outside anymore and stayed with the elders, while fieldwork was left until they gather a group of people even if the work was minor.
For your group, you had to delay your trip from the village by a couple days, yet there was an urgency now to all your actions. All of you knew as long as any of you were in the village they were in grave danger.
Yet the danger to the village did little to have Impa budge from being near Paya and Zelda's sides. You saw more of the guards in the few days you were delayed then you had throughout your entire stay as they checked in on her. They did very kindly restock all your gear, but you were left using the Zora sword again. You knew just from Impa's actions that if the village had enough defenders she would be travelling with you now, yet sadly she'd have to remain and you caught her more then once angrily slamming a fist into a wall or silently wiping her eyes, only stopping when she saw you. She seemed quite thankful for your actions in saving Paya however, and she often took time to stop and speak briefly with you whenever she seemed agitated, as though your presence calmed her.
Paya though... Paya had not taken what happened to her well. She barely talked, barely ate. She refused to bring up anything regarding what happened, changing the subject whenever the conversation remotely came close to it. More so, her nervousness had increased tenfold as she jumped at any sudden sound or shadow. She was worse even then when you had first met her. Mipha and Zelda tried to help her by bringing up that she was a maiden, but Paya seemed more shocked and confused by that then relieved. Worst of all though was at night. Paya screamed and sobbed in her sleep, so much so Zelda had to sleep in the same bed as her so that she could calm Paya and Impa now used Zelda's unoccupied bed. Mipha and yourself tried to help her whenever you could, and you considered it a small triumph when Paya started to act like as she had around you. You had become something like an anchor to the girl, and you were just glad to have the opportunity to help her.
Zelda was hit especially hard, and the fact she was now serving as Paya had once did for her left Zelda often going out of her way to make Paya's life easier. She was inseparable from Paya. Mipha, on the other hand, was inseparable from Zelda, and followed them everywhere. She used her healing powers constantly to help both of them, to the point of exhaustion on more than one occasion. It was often left to you to remind them that you'll have to leave soon or fetching something for them. Yet your presence didn't bother any of the girls to your surprise, in fact, they often welcomed it and often asked you to play for them or tell a story from before you had reunited with Zelda.
Still, the reality that you'll all need to leave the village was ever present. Which lead you to today, three days since the attack, as you all gathered to address the Dodongo in the room.
"So... how are we going to hide Paya is a Sheikah?" You ask, as the girl in question stares at her feet, a bird call from outside making her flinch.
"I mean, white hair isn't that out of place... mostly..." Zelda mutters, scratching her neck, "I-I think I can ask the villagers to donate some light washable dyes but that takes a bit of preparation and is... a bit noticeable...."
"Why not cut it all off? I mean, you Sheikah and Hylians grow so much of it everywhere that it isn't a big deal right?" Mipha asks, which causes Paya to grab her hair with fearful looking eyes and shake her head. Mipha winces and looks away with obvious embarrassment at her own ignorance about Hylians and Sheikah.
"Okay, no one's going to cut anyone's hair," You say, trying to salvage this, "But we should try and focus on the big obvious sign you're Sheikah Paya."
Paya covers her face when she realizes you've addressed her, but slowly peeks from between her fingers, confusion plain in her eyes. When she notices everyone staring at her forehead her eyes widen. "O-oh..." Paya mutters, becoming sullen once more.
"Makeup would be obvious..." Zelda mutters.
"Zelda, did you not mention how the villagers would be more than willing to donate items for Paya?" Mipha asks, looking over to the Princess.
Zelda nods, "Yes, they've already donated a great many charms and an eightfold blade for her. They even replaced all of Link's bombs, elixir and knives."
"Then why not we ask around and see if we can come up with a proper disguise for Paya? I'm sure we can dress her in something no one would suspect she's a Sheikah."
Come up with an outfit for Paya that isn't Sheikah and hides at least her most prominent Sheikah feature, the tattoo. While the villagers will be more than willing to assist they can only really provide things to help Paya. You have a lot of freedom in how you want her to dress. Any dyes or makeup should be taken that dyes and makeup work exactly as they do in the real world and there's no permanent dye available. Note Paya is not used to non-sheikah clothes or makeup.
