I was asked why I liked 2B and A2. I couldn't give the person my answer, but I could give 'em a thousand reasons why I didn't like 9S. Strange, how that all works out, innit?

I like 2B because she defies the stereotypes of the "Cold clinical warrior" by putting up a front of behaving like that, while in fact she's a very passionate person who cares deeply about those around her. She's a sort of gender inversion of the tough guy with a heart of gold. And she has a huge ass.
I like A2 because despite the despair she feels about her life and the world, she's still willing to learn from others and to challenge her own assumptions; and she's the sort of person who will hear the dying request of a stranger and go to amazing lengths to fulfill it. And she has huge, beautiful thighs.
I dislike 9S because he's boring and cringy. The thousand other reasons are just little irritations I wouldn't even notice if on the whole his character were likable, but he isn't. He does have a pretty mouth though I guess.

9S has a great ass too but it doesn't make up for his other character flaws.
There is a reason I put those second. I'm not gonna pretend that their great character designs weren't a factor, but 9S has a great design too, he just totally failed to live up to it. I'm not ashamed to say I like pretty girls; Yoko Taro isn't shy about it either, but those pretty girls are also interesting characters, whereas our resident pretty boy is a boring louse.
I adore Pascal as well, and although I would like to give him a hug, I'd probably prefer to keep that chaste.

As for the main cast, A2 is the one I care about least mostly because she's underdeveloped as hell.
I mean don't get me wrong I like her plotline of 'become less of an asshole whilst running around with 2B's memories', especially when contrasted with 9S's 'descend into assholery whilst running around screaming about 2B', but it was so bloody short and involved actively avoiding the big obvious Tower Of Blatant Importance because the pods were keeping her away from 9S. And prior to that all we get of her is a bossfight where she stabs a robot baby. EDIT: Come to think of it why did she do that? Was that ever explained?
2B and 9S by comparison get their own routes all to themselves. You see the problem? There's barely a chance to get attached or get much of a handle on her personality. "jfc you're basically a delinquent aren't you SO MUCH FOR THE MYSTERIOUS TRAITOR" was about my conclusion; it's a fun character and kind of hilarious with 042's running commentary but they do barely anything with it. Like what was her thoughts on 2B/E and the whole 'so yeah we used you as a base for a unit type designed to shank all her friends' thing? What's her attitude toward 2B and her memories? I didn't really get an angle on that at all; she's doing stuff to meet 2B's dying wish sure but is it purely because of that or does she view her as a successor, a sibling, what?
I mean, hell, imagine if they'd adapted what happens in the stage play (that I haven't seen) and Anemone's log thingie into a flashback mission or something. A2 is frustrating for the potential of her character that the game gave nowhere near enough time to realise. Add to that that half of what story we do get is purely spent hamfistedly destroying Pascal in the most blatantly forced way possible...

If there's one character I'm holding out hope for DLC chapters for, it's A2.

Pretty much what Fell said. 2B's character is actually interesting and comes off as genuine and multi-dimensional. I haven't really been as invested in and cared for a female character as much as I have with 2B. The ass is just extra. And to be honest, with how deep her character is compared to a lot of other female characters in recent AAA games, she rightfully deserves that multi-million dollar ass. She's probably one of the most genuine human characters I've had the joy of playing in a long while. And to be fair, the game actively makes it incredibly hard to look at her butt anyway without blowing yourself up.
