New 'The Batman' Film (2021?)

Freeze in the next movie but it's the Arnold Schwarzenegger Freeze again with zero changes to his tone or visual aesthetic even as the rest of the movie remains consistent with the first one

The Batman II: Batman HARDER is happening.

Excellent.

I'm interested to see who the villain will be...provided it's not Joker. The end scene was obvious sequel bait for Riddler making a comeback as part of a team with Joker, which is ehhhhhh.

The temptation to fall back on ol' reliable Joker must be immense. I hope Reeves doesn't go for it.

Personally, I think that Scarecrow deserves a proper showcase.

According to Reeves, that's not supposed to be sequel bait, it's supposed to be a sign that Batman's already faced the Joker. To show that this is a Semi-experienced Batman

or like Azrael, let's get fucking wild

Matt Reeves has mentioned he'd be interested in doing Mr Freeze, while Robert Pattinson has gone on at lengths about how much he'd like to do Court of Owls, so those seem like strong candidates.

If it were up to me, I'd use The Monk, partly because we're owed a good superhero vampire story-mix after Morbius, but mostly because I have a soft spot for really old supervillains no one really cares about anymore.

Zsasz, Hush, or The Court Of Owls seem like they would be the perfect addition to the setting. Though I wonder how he'd incorporate Mr. Freeze.

Zsasz and the Court work, but I feel like they put enough emphasis on the Hush thing in this film that making a sequel film on it wouldn't be satisfying in execution. I'd also accept another attempt at Scarecrow, or maybe Doctor Hugo Strange.

Actual Just Dracula :V

Hm I think if they went with the court of owls they should be saved for the third film if this is going to be a trilogy.

Honestly, any of the ones that Batman can't possibly take in a straight fight would be nice, because we haven't seen that in any of the movies. Croc, Grundy, Clayface, Manbat, etc…
Hell even a good Bane. Like, not the shitty one we got in the Dark Knight trilogy, but the one from the comics, the genius who is a direct parallel to Bruce, who instead of swearing to fight crime swore to conquer it. With the Penguin left to step up in the post-Falcone Gotham, Bane coming in and the ensuing gang war would be interesting for Battinson to navigate.

It's odd how we've had characters named Bane twice in the movies, but the first was actually a generic goon and the second was actually Ubu. Third time's the charm? We DID see Bruce using what looked like Venom.

Honestly I just want tiny ball of sunshine Dick Grayson/Robin in the sequel. Is that too much to ask for?

My vote is still for Court of Owls. It'd be one way to introduce Robin (roll the entire new Graysons backstory into one, possibly, if you want the Talons to be like their comics counterparts), plus it's Bruce fighting an enemy that comprehensively outmatches him and requires unraveling a vast conspiracy. With what this movie was saying about Gotham's corruption and the power of old, aristocratic families over the city, that would be a strong thread to follow up on.

Plus, this quote from earlier gives me an idea:
Read a fun little idea that, in a possible trilogy, he'll say one of the iconic verses of "I am vengeance, I am the night, I am Batman!" one by one in each subsequent Batman movie.
It makes for a good progression of the story, if you're imagining a trilogy:
  • "I am vengeance" - Bruce learns to move past being a creature of blind rage and terror, defeating a villain who only knew how to do the vengeance part, realizing he must become a greater symbol.
  • "I am the night" - Bruce overcomes the scariest force reigning over Gotham and making its people afraid of the night. Batman proves that Gotham is his city and the oligarchy keeping it in shackles is shattered.
  • "I am Batman" - Batman transcends the realm of the purely Human and becomes an icon in himself. This is probably where you can use something like the Joker leading a teamup of classic Batman villains. Batman proves triumphant in being more than a man by overcoming the baser fears and evils represented by his Rogues Gallery (think something like Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth).

So what you're saying is Reeve's movies is actually just an elaborate setup to make a live action Wayne Family Adventures.
