Okay, going over everyone one-by-one:

Infiltrator Selection

[ ] Deirdre Ailiosa (Dullahan) - Experienced and capable, although she seems a bit too eager to deal out death and punishments unless she's exagerating.
[ ] Nergal (Greater Devil) - Hypnosis seems great, but definetely a troublemaker
[ ] Penny Harlow (Usagimimi) - Seems capable and good for recon, but way too hyper. Could work though.
[ ] Teshima Yakumo (Kitsune)* - Shapeshifting is definetely a great ability for an infiltrator, so she seems trhe closest to Doppel in the canon MON unit.

Pointman Selection

[ ] Von Morvand (Dragonewt) - Sounds pretty damn great. Everything you really need in one neat package. Maybe a bit boring?
[ ] Knizo Cliffbelt (Kobold) - An excellent tracker with experience could be very useful to sniff out ambushes and smuggling rings.
[ ] Lobo Roldan (Orc) - People like a good redemption story and he seems capable, if he's been fighting drug cartels.
[ ] Eva Marinelle (Eel Mermaid)* - Tempted to pick her just to see what Eel CQC looks like and she seems nice

Heavy Selection

[ ] Otero Dofleini (Scylla) - Seems capabale, but I don't know if sturdy enough to be a heavy
[ ] Cerona Leka (Cyclops) - A big, strong combat engineer that is an iron man fan
[ ] Midas Taurus (Minotaur) - Very strong and definetely fits the heavy role, but might take some time to get used to following orders
[ ] Geldas (Gigantes)* - I really want to take her, but the situations where a giant is useful that also allow property damage are probably rare

Support Selection

[ ] Erica Gold (Raptor Harpy) - Mobile air sniper support would be very useful, bust she seems a tad cocky
[ ] Mason Botania (Mandragora) - Good for emergency knock-outs if we can scream-proof the rest of our team, but hostages will also suffer
[ ] Harada Yotemi (Yuki-onna) - Could be very useful but runs into the same problem of friendly fire as Mason
[ ] Jackson Teach (Backbeard)* - Seems very verstaile, but also a bit hostile

So far my picks would be:

He has a more powerful base form, but his transformation abilities are weaker than Doppel's. You're right that they do have the same powerset though, which may not make him as interesting from a narrative perspective.

It's cool, @veekie made the same mistake and he's pretty much the Patron Saint of Quests at this point.
 
I love all of them! Choosing is so hard, but here are my top choices.

[ ] Teshima Yakumo (Kitsune)*
Because Kitsunes are cool and while teleportation would be useful, that would require Deidre to have been to the place before, and it's not mentioned if it's just her who can be teleported. Teshima's boast of being the best choice is not unfounded, given that he has the most subtle and adaptable ability for infiltration in illusions. He is the only one with long term scouting potential, as the others are more conspicuous, with even Nergal's ability being rendered null if he is caught on camera.

[ ] Lobo Roldan (Orc)
Really close choice between him and Eva, who is probably the superior choice, but I'm a sucker for his type. Also he would make an excellent guard for Harada while she is preparing to use her powers, as besides his durability, his nose would allow him to smell if any enemies are getting to close to the location we choose to hide Harada.

[ ] Otero Dofleini (Scylla)
He makes many valid points in his application, and fulfills the heavy role while also being a excellent tactic.

[ ] Harada Yotemi (Yuki-onna)

Those ice skills will be highly useful considering how water is almost everywhere human life is, due to it's necessity for survival. She can be hidden in a prescouted location and guarded by Lobo, who is unlikely to annoy her due to his genial nature.

This team set up is based on stealthily scouting out the location ahead of time, sabotage what we can, and then using any blind spots or weaknesses to smuggle Harada into range for her to ice them. Otero is a good tactial advisor while being an excellent panic button to use if things go sideways. He is able to stealth well, so he synergizes well. Lobo works as a panic button as well, while being ideal to keep Harada safe from any attackers or threats. Everyone seems to have a fairly calm personality, so any acts of rage should be unlikely.
 
Hmm, yeah, I'll go over every option too, though I guess keep my biases in mind :V

A lot of the time, I'm primarily invested in overall character as compared to making an actually workable team so that's my focus

Infiltrator Selection

[ ] Deirdre Ailiosa (Dullahan) -Overall skillset is definitely the most interesting I think haha. And I like her, but I'm not super invested in her character? I like her how apparent grandstanding cracked when faced with technology, and she was demanding the recording to work for her.
[ ] Nergal (Greater Devil) -chaotic neutral devil dude which would be hilarious but I kind of have Zophar for that fix lol I do want to get into Devil relations sometime tho.
[ ] Penny Harlow (Usagimimi) -I... kind of find cheerful adorkable bunny girl boring. Maybe its the loads of cheerful animal girls in everything? It's a little eh...standard.
[ ] Teshima Yakumo (Kitsune)* -Yeah, its similar to canon Doppel abilities. but I like classical kitsune, and I'm okay with not having a terribly special skillset tbh. I don't want

Pointman Selection

[ ] Von Morvand (Dragonewt) -Serious af. This guy has a lot of abilities going for him and is also a fucking dragon, so I like the idea, but am not sure. Nothing stands out to me.
[ ] Knizo Cliffbelt (Kobold) -Again, uh, excited animal girl doesn't quite do it for me.....She'll be effective and professional, but not my kind of character.
[ ] Lobo Roldan (Orc) -I would be very up for Orc redemption arc, I would be so up for it. but-
[ ] Eva Marinelle (Eel Mermaid)* - but-but i love her....... ok, more seriously, there's only a little bit about eel mermaids in the wiki, and I think there's a bunch of potential in just exploring that. eels can climb up walls??? and eel mermaids apparently have beauty therapy mucus. idk, i love my depressed "lololol" daughter.

Heavy Selection

[ ] Otero Dofleini (Scylla) -I'M DOWN FOR OCTOPUS MAN. Kind of an intellectual snob, but i dig it.
[ ] Cerona Leka (Cyclops) -ooooh, I kind of think she'd be better off as a support character, where she can spend all her time making the stuff she wants to make.
[ ] Midas Taurus (Minotaur) -teamwork issues ahoy~ He's traditional and a prideful fighter, and that's cool, but i think he'd be more interesting as more of a rival on another group tbh.
[ ] Geldas (Gigantes)* -yeahh.....probably not very useful in a general sense, but she's a fun idea to think about. BIG WITH TANK GUN lmaooooo

Support Selection

[ ] Erica Gold (Raptor Harpy) -*cackles* rains pride and death from above. A Good Personality. TOTALLY A TEAM PLAYER. but no, I want her to clash with other people, so I think she might be my choice for support. my 50/50 shot
[ ] Mason Botania (Mandragora) -cute kid and useful talents, could take him or leave him overall.
[ ] Harada Yotemi (Yuki-onna) -I like her, because I think her powers are really cool *pun intended* and also the description of her frozen expression and dead eyes gave me chills *pun also intended* and I want to see her give everyone the cold shoulder. *PUNS ARE ALWAYS INTENDED* But more seriously, I think she'd be interesting. my other 50/50 shot
[ ] Jackson Teach (Backbeard)* -Rude and abrasive, but personally tickles my funny bone. Cigar chomping constantly angry dude who looks like a kid lolll, want to see him somewhere else maybe...

Actually if I go with what I have in mind, the team will be split half silly trolls, half competitive snobs, and that's fantastic to me.

It'll totally devolve into this weird in-fighting and I love that.

Actually, not true. There's plenty of market for Cyclops craftsmanship, so if she just wanted to build things she could make a perfectly good living just doing that. She volunteered for the team because she honestly loves fieldwork.

Tinkering might be her hobby, but sapping is what she really lives for. Cutting power lines, tapping phones, collapsing walls (or buildings), removing traps/mines/bombs, setting traps/mines/bombs...

Ahhh... well, in that case, I take back that statement. I feel bad I stereotyped :p. But at the same time, I guess I'm not heavily invested in tinkering support in general.

In celebration, here are some facts about the group's current unfavorites....
  • Nergal isn't lying about how dangerous his abilities can be. If used effectively, he really can solo certain missions. He also has a bit of a checkered past involving a gang war he single handedly started.
  • Von Morvand has many years of military service and is consummate professional. Like Clyde, he's an extremely stabilizing influence who can easily operate with minimal supervision.
  • Knizo Cliffbelt's eager exterior hides a personality that is borderline yandere. She's suicidally devoted to her friends, and even perceived threats to them will cause her to go right for the throat.
  • Cerona Leka enjoys breaking things just as much as fixing them. Her sensitive eye makes her more vulnerable than most, but if given time to work she's actually one of the most flexible Heavies.
  • Midas Taurus has issues with authority, but beyond this his Minotaur herd instincts actually make him a fantastic team player. His protective urges mean he will do anything to aid a teammate in trouble.
  • Mason Botania is the only Support who isn't a glass cannon. He's basically a bepedal tree, second only to the Heavies in term of durability. He's also living wood, so is surprisingly resistant to fire.

There are probably a lot of team compositions that would work well together, in time but since Jones needs them to work together immediately, I tried to make her job a little easier by going with professionals. Unless the ellipsis in your sentence means that I ioverlooked something and this is a horrible choice :V

My love of causing player paranoia aside, there's actually no such thing as a 'horrible' team, so don't worry about it! Your group would be just fine. :)

Used to play it with family. My dad had the most bullshit luck, he'd end up scoring 400 points on the last turn of the game by rolling over and over. Drove me mad.
