Memoirs of a Human Flashlight [Exalted/Worm]

The fact that this debate still exists, and has continued past the point where the author felt it necessary to spend wordcount addressing the concerns of the readers, is a lamentable shame. The story is what it is; sure, it's an annoying burden for a fifteen year-old gear to bear, but Glenn is well aware that Taylor is extraordinary. He might very well be pushing for this not only because the statistics claim it to be effective, but because it'll catalyze Taylor's self-confidence, crushing the last remnants of her former, timid shell under Lightshow's heels. Let the man run with the tale he wants to tell. If you're here for the sole purpose of badgering the author into abandoning a promising story because a single element doesn't sit well with you, the door is that way.

OH MY GOD! Stop talking about the dress already! Talk about how epic a fight between her and Scion would be instead! What charms should she use? What tactics? What else? That's a conversation I would read.

What I don't get is how, after two mod warnings to stop, people are still talking about the costume. Do you want to be banned?

Charms are Instinctive, No teacher required.

So is Solar Hero Style, but the other MA styles do need a Sifu.

I suggest you reread the mod warnings. One was about off topic discussions (which the current discussion is most definitely not) while the second was to a specific individual making threats. Neither was about "talking about the costume".
I suggest you take your own advice.

Well, I won't start smacking them yet.

However, I will if after my post they continue to waste people's time by discussing non-related things, you know, like a costume.

So take the hint people; shut up before I ban you.

Well...that was...

Fuck it, I just got home from work and I'm not really going to bother making a joke while banning your ass for a week. Got ITG someplace elsewhere for a week and get it out of your system before you return; because next time you do it I'm banning your ass for a month. Not only are you ignoring my previous warning to shut up about the costume, you're also making threats against people. So yeah, get out of here for a week.

PS - technically I was also complaining about the costume issue, way to go after a Mod! :p
BAM. And yes, I did just say bam. Not sure why.

I'm hoping that the Mods just start smacking the people obsessing over the costume with prejudice.

That looks to me like an explicit warning that if people keep talking about the costume they'll be banned. But you're very welcome* to keep on going on and on and on and on and on about it and see what SuperS4 thinks.

*You're actually not very welcome.

SEE!?! This is why we should talk about something else, like how would this version of Taylor fight Scion? Let's change the topic and figure out a strategy she could use.

Well, she'll need some kind of Tinker-made jetpack; Solar flying charm doesn't really allow enough height or flexibility to let her fight him whilst he's flying.

There also seems to be a Rakasha one on the way in the crossover thread. Might get its own thread if Biggoh wants to continue it.

Warstriders are... a leap. To put it mildly. There's not just the hearthstone after all. If you're doing a proper one, there's the whole prayer script and summoning a lesser god into them.. bit. That's hard to justify.
It works much better for an Infernal with Past Life, Coadjutor, or Savant.

But mine is going to go the Craft (Genesis) route instead. ... Eventually. Maybe by the time the canon timeskip rolls around.

Actually, you only need the prayer and small god if you are making a royal warstrider. Short of that you just need magical materials. (Warstriders can even operate without a hearthstone briefly. 10 motes/action IIRC)

Well, the big kicker (and total pain in the butt) is the required Cathedral Factory and attendant gods, laborers and craftsmen.

Oh, and the time required.

Oh, I think you can spend 10 motes an action without a hearthstone...

And dammit, forgot that it would just be a heck of a lot easier to learn that damn charm that gives you an armor that functions like a Warstrider anyways.

*sidereal posting shenigans happend here aka misclicked deletion of the wrong post.*

And of course the problem of needing a hearthstone of a certain size to activate them. Which is a bit hard without a leyline to form them.

Wasn`t that a saphire spell ?

The closest Lightshow might get to a Warstrider is a Dragon armor suit. As she hasn't even met dragon, nor has the pilotable line of armors been released, it's a ways off.

I take it with the lack of past live that has been shown so far and the problems of the essence flow thaumathurgy does not work , or if it works taylor would have no idea how to learn it right?

Nope, Celestial/Sapphire level Sorcery.

Of course, that doesn't mean that you can't create a line of Charms that creates a Warstrider if you want, but why would you? Warstriders tend to be crap.

There's a "Make a Warstrider" Charm from.....Dreams, I think.

Incomparable Soul Forged Warstrider(IIRC).

Only when fighting human sized targets (that -4 bites). Against things their own size the huge strength (which counts as natural, this is important for charms like Strength Increasing Excercise) and soak/hardness can make a pretty big difference.

As a Twilight, Occult is automatically favored. Unlike most other favored (and even unfavored) abilities, Taylor has virtually no natural, conscious reason to stretch her power or understanding in that direction. She'll gain her first dot of occult by plot, and shift her perspectives to match once she realizes what it is.

In the meantime, she can apply generic Solar-ness to most problems so long as she has juice. Her favored abilities will allow for rapid growth in their mundane skill levels. Her unfavored ones, still rapid for humans, but will require time and effort.

Once she tweaks to the idea of 'occult' at all, and realizes it's one of her 'Uber' skills (pun intended and eventually canonical), she'll be focusing on it solidly. When she does, the game changes.

For now I have to write up a scene that involves at least three teen girls that devolves into an offer for a 'friendly' spar. An offer that is accepted because Taylor/pride/rage etc. As I do not grok typical teen girls as well as possible, this one might take a bit.

Pretty sure it was erattaed out in 2.5, though.
It' a Essence Six charm, the only way she gets it is if she intentionally jumps into a time dilation field. At that point when she comes out that charm would possibly be the least broken of anything she could have.
