[X] A too-sober American, playing darts and trying to avoid the temptation of anything stronger than the glass of orange juice in one hand. Pity about the faint whiff of vodka coming from it, but he hasn't missed a throw yet. (Weapons Tech Upgrade)

[X] A piss-drunk African preacher, speaking a Caribbean patois you can hardly make out. The mechanics trying to rouse him have a reason, though, and judging from their frantic prayers and the broken car outside, they seem to think his faith is the only thing to bring it back to life. [X] A pair of Chinamen, speaking in quite legible Portuguese, whom seem to be confused about why their odd mechanical toys don't seem to be selling in the market. (Gyro Tech Upgrade)

I'd prefer another engine upgrade to deal with the strain this mech is going to have on it from heavy weapons and armour, but at this point I don't think that has a hope in hell of winning. So yeah, gyro-stabilization.

[X] A group of engineers from Renault, arguing over a bottle of wine at a series of more than half-finished blueprints. You think you see an engine there? (Engine Tech Upgrade)

I was torn between this and gyro but the engine Horsepower was something that hampered us and I see this as either being more reliably or powerful engines.

Personally leaning on this right now due to the new field this seems to give us access to.

Tin man toys save the world from dreary gray!

God, it would be amazing if this man managed to make the Hotchkiss Revolving Cannon work as our mech's "explosives projector" by getting it to feed from a hopper or belt.

Four barrels plus a 12 round magazine would be a fairly decent ammo endurance assuming you cycle the barrels before battle to get a full preload.

Though at the same time since this thing is to support infantry wouldn't a motar be a good idea for indirect fire support? Then the resolving cannon could just be the anti mech weapon.

The idea of our mecha only working because literally magic is too hilarious to pass up.

Also, calling it now, this is going to be proven wrong. The enemy will totally end up with something to right their mechs if they fall.

That depends on which enemy.

Horsepower was an issue because you were locked in on engines. You get to pick your own this time, for better or worse.

Doesn't meet the explosive fill requirements. More importantly, since that needs a dedicated loader/gunner anyway, you might as well go with a more weight efficient QF 37mm gun, or a short-barreled howitzer or something. Remember, 20-25 tons is as big as mechs get right now: "heavy armor" might top out at an inch of plate.

for reference, the Americans right now are rocking a 25 ton bipedal mecha right now that slings six 7.7 machine guns and a 37mm autoloaded cannon. Visually, it looks a bit like an underfed Glaug, practically, it fights like an anemic mink.

I wonder if a recoilless rifle might be worth looking into. I can imagine the recoil on an "explosives projector" being an issue for a biped. Then again, maybe with the mass of a mech, it's not an issue. 🤔

So... I don't quite feel like ending up with our names, faces, and history all washed away beneath an ocean of governmental black ink. At least not yet.

So I'm a'go with my other choice.

Might as well see how this will go
