Matter of Faith (BTVS / OC)

BTW what do we get from being a Priest?
I'm basically going to be giving you a few points down the trees based on Paladin or Priest. Paladin would get heavy armor, and Priest would get redemption.

There are also two passives that you'd get. Heavy armor training for Paladin (Reduces penalties for wearing heavy armor, and up's it's benefits), or Priest would get Light Attuned (Buff to light spells.)

So if I'm reading this right... as far as THE LIGHT! is concerned, the only real difference between Palladin and Priest are <a> the initial starting Skill distribution between the three trees and <b>the passive.

And the Priest Passive would be like Redemption being easier to cast, or spells heals more, buffs are more powerful, etc (?)

A question then but it's possible right to change between Palladin and Priest given sufficient effort

PS: Also out of curiosity is the image I post last page visible

Basically, but your not going to be able to go down each of the trees entirely (That's 24 spells, I'm not planning on the quest running long enough for all of them to be grabbed). I'd probably also remove the heavy armor spell entirely if you chose priest and replace it with an armor buff. That was written with Paladin in mind.

Also, picture is visible. I just snipped it so it didn't show up in the quote.

Figured as much.

And the question about the pic was more because some <insertname>chan don't show on SV.

Still this sounds awesome

Roughly, how many do you think we'd be able to get during the Quest?

Day 1
[X]The Light: Paladin

A lot of people run once school lets out. Flee as if they are running from the jaws of death. Not all of the students, but it's not uncommon for a few to tear down the halls and out the doors like they are on fire. You personally are not one of those people.

You stay at least an hour each day in the gym. Working hard on your body and muscles. It's a hard task that requires a lot of sincere commitment. There are a few buddies you can hang around with too of course, but your focus is on keeping yourself in top shape.

So when you leave the hallways are empty, and the students long gone. A few linger here and there for after school clubs, but it's a small fraction of people. It's not uncommon for you to be able to walk out of school without meeting another soul.

Out the back of the school, and cutting through the abandoned buildings. To your understanding, they were once factories and manufacturing plants. Now they were owned by a few banks and left to rot until someone could figure out something profitable. It was just a bit earie walking through them to be honest, but it was either this or add another half hour to your walk.

No one lingered here really. Maybe a few vagrants, and you've heard that a few of the troublemakers used one of the buildings as a drug house, but aside from that it was fairly barren.

Your cutting through one of the more wrecked areas when you see the glint. Something shining in the rubble of a fallen roof. You would have ignored it if it had been buried really. But it was right in reach, and you hadn't seen anything like it the last time you took this route.

It was a book. Plated in scratched golden metal and looking like it had seen far, far better days.

You've never seen anything like it. Who would cover a book in metal like this? Even better, the thing was latched closed, and from what you could tell, sealed. Maybe something used for traveling?

It took a bit of fiddling with the latch to get it open, and you marveled a bit at what was inside.

The pages were thick and golden. Not paper, but something thicker and more durable. Each one was decorated with loving pictures of rays of light and figures in various stances. Maybe a hundred pages all told. All of it etched with incomprehensible runes. It was honestly incredibly pretty.

You get a bit lost in examining it, and are only conscious of the time when the sun starts to set. You re-latch the book, and stuff it into your backpack. Then run home the rest of the way.

Your apartment is on the third floor of a crappy tenement building. Two rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room. The water's never hot, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear shouting and crying all night. The paints peeling in several places as well.

Your father's there when you get in, and he gives a grunt as you come in. You get your looks from him, and when you were growing up you and he looked nearly identical. Now he was getting fat, and had stopped shaving. He had a beer in his hand too, but this was normal by now.

You grab something from the fridge and down it before heading to your room. A bed and a dresser that barely fit dominated it, and a few of your sparse possessions were put on the dresser. That bronze trophy from your bodybuilding entry was the most precious, but there were a few models Jet had bought with you, and a picture of your mother and father.

Mother had died in a car accident, and father had slid downhill afterwards. Little to say to that really.

You shake off the lonely thoughts and settle down on your bed. Out comes the strange book bound in gold, and you start looking over it again.

The runes were fun actually. It's like you could feel exactly what they meant even though they didn't match anything you knew. You find your hand tracing a few of them too.

The book was arranged into three sections. One section had the figure holding a hammer and shield. Another had a large hammer. The final section had the figure holding the book. As your examined it better, you could almost make out what the figure was doing in each section. It was interesting. Some of it seemed to be fighting techniques.

You've never seen anything like it in your life. You can say that with certainty. The time passes quickly, and you don't even remember falling asleep, still examining the strange book.

The dreams you have are strange things. Of something shining like the sun talking to you with windchimes. You see shadows stretching over the town, and your hand holding them back. Dust splashes across your face, and you get the impression of a woman fighting something looming and terrible. Blood splashes to the ground in front of you in the dream, and then light shines so brightly that you wake up.

The light of your room's ceiling light is shining in your face.

You grunt and stagger to your feet in a clattering sound. You blink as the clattering registers, and look down at yourself. Metal bracers with gold and red. You clench steel clad fists, and look down more. Your in armor. A stiffness makes you feel around your head, and you feel the metallic helmet too. It's strange, your certain that it's covering your eyes, but you can see perfectly fine.

There's a small mirror in your dresser, and you pull it up to look at yourself. (Insert Picture here)

Your certain you should be screaming, but you aren't. Somehow the fact that you woke up in magic armor is perfectly fine with you. Some instinct makes you look at the book that you had been reading last night. The battered cover was pristine now. The golden finish shining bright, and the thing was practically singing to your senses.

You move to where it is, and pick it up. You understand the Runes completely now.

Welcome to the light, Paladin.

There is much to be done.
