[x] We can't keep this secret. I'll protect him if I have to, but we need to tell her.

I mean, significant chunk of the shit that happened in Exalted setting can be traced back to the "Sidereals decided to keep too many secrets" problem.

[X] I'll make up something. We'll keep Brindle secret.

It feels perhaps not good to turn the guy in to someone who he says will kill him, on the reasoning that we might get in trouble if we don't.

I don't trust our continued capacity to lie.

There is literally no way we manage to lie to *anyone* and we promised to fight Mei anyway

[X] If he's in danger, we need to get him out of camp and find somewhere for him to hole up.

From an outside perspective I honestly think that trusting the Sidereal is the best course of action. Also, he has a permit.

He is young. Not guileless, of course, he has had us fooled for that long, but that was with magic. He is young, inexperienced, and desperate to survive, and he has glimpses of the future. When he tells us he really, really doesn't think telling Mei about him is a good idea, he is speaking with real sincerity and genuine fear.

Maybe we can pay a dear cost to let Mei know and leave Brindle unharmed even so, but it would cost us his trust, it would renew Mei's wariness of us in turn anyway, it would risk lives and cause drama.

It's not that hiding his nature from Mei is free of all problem and will cause no one to be upset at any point ever, but it is working with what we are given, and answering a young, frightened warrior's fear with trust and protection.

This is probably going to be a mess, but that's nothing new for us. It will, however, be a very responsible sort of mess, where we act reasonably, which will be a novel experience.
