Mandate of Heaven (Three Kingdom Quest)

Weighted stats, based on character traits.
Charismatic Figure: Some people are born with a special light or fire that draws people in. You are among those. When you enter a room, people turn towards you. While others try to make friends, everyone wants to become yours. (Unlocks Trait Personal Magnetism: Provides a Bonus of +5 on all personal interactions with other persons like talking to a person, recruiting someone or increasing their bond etc.)

Martial Education: From an early age you pursued the study of the military classics and learned what you could about leading men in times of war. The Six Secret Teachings, the Methods of the Sima, the Wuzi and Wei Liaozi became your daily companions. Hours and days spent discussing and learning their teachings. All to prepare you for a military post. (Unlocks Trait Martial Education: Prerequisite to earn a higher military post. Provides a bonus of +2 to all actions concerning the military from commanding armies to organizing them.)

Vain: You were always mindful of your appearance and the appearance of others. With the rank of your family came certain expectations and you deemed your meticulous appearance to be one that was utterly necessary to be upheld.

Clan of Officials: Your mother comes from a long-line of officials. Her family has had grand administrators, inspectors and even one minister among their ranks. ( Unlocks Trait Familial Connection increasing Guanxi gains by 5%, Two Scholarly Items as presents)

Passionate Hunter: You have always liked to go on a hunt. The exhilaration of it, the competition and the companionship. Everything is just so much fun.
MajorWeight = 3, MinorWeight = 1

Charismatic Figure = CHA+3 | POL+1
Martial Education = LDR+3 | WAR+1
Vain = CHA+3
Clan of Officials = POL+3 | INT+1
Passionate Hunter = WAR+3 | INT+1

Total = LDR+3 | WAR+4 | INT+2 | POL+4 | CHA+6

Number of Weights = 19
80 Stat points / 19 = 4 per weight, Remainder 4
The remainder can be added randomly.

LDR+3 = 50 + 4x3 = 62, +1 = 63
WAR+4 = 50 + 4x4 = 66
INT+2 = 50 + 4x2 = 58, +1 = 59
POL+4 = 50 + 4x4 = 66, +1 = 67
CHA+6 = 50 + 4x6 = 74, +1 = 75
Stats:
-[] LDR: 63
-[] WAR: 66
-[] INT: 59
-[] POL: 67
-[] CHA: 75

The influence of reading too many Chinese historical novels causes me to want to have higher INT, especially because our father's concubine has a much higher INT than our mother (and higher than our father too).

Also it goes well with CHA

[]Plan Cunning Leader
-[] Gong: The way of archery has been part of the upbringing of nobles for a long time. A weapon used by hunters as well as in warfare, a bow is a deadly tool.
-[] A finely crafted bow
-[] LDR: 70
-[] WAR: 60
-[] INT: 70
-[] POL: 60
-[] CHA: 70

Reasoning:

Gong: Wanru's hobby is hunting, so being skilled with a bow and preferring it when fighting makes sense to me.

Finely Crafted Bow: Chaining with the above, and also makes sense as a gift for Wanru given the aforementioned hobby.

Stats: Relatively well balanced, but with emphasis on commanding, strategizing and getting people to follow us.

I too like the sound of having main weapon being the bow. Something abit different, also we could make just headshooting enemies who try to pre-fight banter us our calling card.

Also think CHA and LDR could be our go to stats to start with along with possible INT or WAR. I mean we're going into a rebellion who needs government political know how.

I like this plan, though I feel like having INT high should be a fairly high priority, if only because of Wanru's father's concubine. I can't imagine there not being problems with her and the elder half-brother.

I agree with you on the point of having higher INT, but I feel like the 4 point difference between the concubine and Wanru's father is not going to be an issue, though I could always be wrong. But yeah, having the INT be around 80 or at least nearly 80 should be a priority, hopefully without sacrificing having good CHA, since it ought be Wanru's best skill.

Two plans.

[X] Plan: Choices Matter (Bow)
-[x] Gong: The way of archery has been part of the upbringing of nobles for a long time. A weapon used by hunters as well as in warfare, a bow is a deadly tool.
-[x] A magnificent coat of furs
-[x] LDR: 63
-[x] WAR: 66
-[x] INT: 59
-[x] POL: 67
-[x] CHA: 75

[] Plan: Choices Matter (Spear)
-[] Qiang: The King of Weapons. A spear is easily produced and easy to handle. It is one of the main weapons of the army and used by cavalry and infantry.
-[] A magnificent coat of furs
-[] LDR: 63
-[] WAR: 66
-[] INT: 59
-[] POL: 67
-[] CHA: 75

Either Gong(bow) or Qiang(spear) match our passion for hunting.
The coat of furs could be made from a "magnificent" animal we successfully hunted. (Bear? Tiger? Something else?)

Stylistically, I've always preferred the spear in nearly all forms of media.

The choice in gift is very dependent on how we assign our stats, unless we want to grab the mirror to stare at ourselves.

Not a huge preference for stat array, I'd generally prefer hyper-specialization, but pretty much everything gets used in a war scenario, so more balanced isn't a deal breaker. I'd say POL is probably safe to stay at 50, as our immediate concerns aren't the bureaucracy, it'll be the rebellion.

So something like this if we wanted to go the CHA route, which is kind of necessary considering our ambitions, unless we're aiming for becoming an advisor to the ruler, in which case I'd rate POL much higher.

[] Plan: King of Weapons and Man
-[] Qiang: The King of Weapons. A spear is easily produced and easy to handle. It is one of the main weapons of the army and used by cavalry and infantry.
-[] A finely crafted weapon
-[] LDR: 60
-[] WAR: 60
-[] INT: 60
-[] POL: 50
-[] CHA: 90

I'm interested in the character being an archer and any way's as a general he shouldn't be in the thick of fighting.

Items
Items
Items are split into four categories for this quest, namely equipment, accessories, books and miscellaneous. Some of them are self-explanatory. Equipment is what a character uses in battle from his weapons to his armor and horse. Accessories are things he or she carries around with them like a seal, sash or a hairpin. Books are books and miscellaneous encompasses the rest. Most often some form of present or tool you cannot just carry around.

Equipment quality is ranked from Rank 0-6. With Rank 5 representing the peak of historical equipment. As an example here is the list for armor.
Rank 0: Acquired Raw Hide Armor
Rank 1: Hardened Leather Armor
Rank 2: Bronze/Iron Armor
Rank 3: Steel Fish Scale Armor
Rank 4: Simple Lamellar Armor
Rank 5: Heavy Steel Lamellar Armor
Rank 6: Special Heavy Steel Lamellar Armor

The mechanical advantages of the different kinds of equipment comes into play in two different ways. As the most obvious one is a bonus to one stat and the other is in a comparison calculation. The better the quality of the equipment, the better for you. For stat bonus, it is important to know that the first number is the one you can expect from a random find of this category and the second one is the rare one. Therefore, there is a slight difference possible even in the same quality rank. Lastly, stat bonuses do not come with every kind of equipment.

Normal Stat Bonuses:
Rank 0: 0
Rank 1: 0-1
Rank 2: 2-3
Rank 3: 4-5
Rank 4: 6-7
Rank 5: 8-9
Rank 6: 10

Accessories are things that are not used for combat but are still worn on the body or carried around, like a fan or the sash representing some office. Even the seal or identity marker representing a high rank would count in this category. They are not ranked and a character can at most have 3 equipped with a special exception for seals of office or rank.

Books are meant to be read. To start reading costs a personal action and only two books can be read at the same time. Then they provide a passive bonus to the XP of one stat, till the book is comprehended not just read. Meaning it is not an infinite source of XP points. By themselves they provide a certain bonus to actions as long as they can be used as reference material. Therefore, don't expect a military journal to provide a bonus during combat. It is different, if it is essentially a turn task. Then it would apply. Lastly for certain books there is the possibility of granting a trait after they are comprehended.

Miscellaneous items are things you just cannot carry around and provide boni in certain situations. Be it a music instrument granting you a bonus while playing or the famous kettle helping you in increasing your bonds with other characters when serving tea. Similar to books don't expect their effect to come into play in every situation. They are always quite specific or just outright presents for other characters to showcase your own generosity.

BTW I am really surprised with the balanced approach to the stat line. I expected at least one 100er plan and most go for at least one stat at around 80. Interesting to see the difference in mindset.

Minmaxing to an absurd degree doesn't really work in a system where one stat isn't head and shoulders above the others, I think.
